Found this place by chance, loved the fact that it specializes in vegetarian food! I love Indian, but sadly don’t have that much experience with the diversity of dishes they had so I stuck to what I know! I had a Panner Butter Masala, I think! Absolutely delicious, though forgot to ask for it to be mildly spicy, it was still yummy though I had to ask for some plain yogurt on the side! It’s also a worldwide chain. I should mention service was quick, and staff very kind and attentive.

Rudeness Waiting 30 minutes In line , My Wife Needed to Use The Restroom. Asked the Staff for restroom directions, they said we have no rest room ( That was A lie ) , and very Arrogantly Mentioned Dint Allow . Staff Need to learn Manners . We know they are super busy . But end of the day we all are Humans . Be Humble that’s all . Thank you and best wishes To Them .

This place was packed with a line out the door waiting to be seated. The menu is very big, which is either good or overwhelming, depending on who you are. Menu is marked with gluten free and vegan options. There are also some options that are marked that can be made gluten free and/or vegan. I’d say it’s a good place to eat if you have a gluten/dairy allergy like I do. Food was tasty. Staff was efficient and attentive.

Gigantic Indian restaurant close to the train station with a huge menu (more than 270 options). All options are clearly labeled as gluten free or vegan (in some cases they can be made gluten free/vegan by asking the waiter). The food is spicy and tasty, the music is not loud, the atmosphere is nice.

Being a South Indian, this place is closest match to all my food cravings. Their Dosas are amazing, as always. I have also tried their “Kaima Idly” and “Gobi Manchurian”. They’re all super tasty as well! Most of the times it’s just been Dosas on the table for me, but will keep visiting this place to try many of their other specialties. Also, don’t forget to try their “Mango Lassi” because they’re so soothing! Their ambiance and service is appreciative, even though the staffs left us unattended for quite sometime. Otherwise, everything’s good! Keep it up guys!!

Why 1 star? Here's why: Service: I've been in Frankfurt for over a year and as a South Indian, Saravana Bhavan was my go-to place for comforting food. The service used to be good. No complaints. But recently, the service got really bad. I've been there with friends several times, and some servers are really grumpy. They barely speak except to take orders. Once, when we asked for more time to decide, a server rolled their eyes. When we wanted to order more after our first dish and they took away the menu, the server seemed annoyed. It spoiled the mood for enjoying the food. I get it that they might be stressed and they are also human beings, but basic politeness is what I expect. And this was not a one time experience. Obviously not everyone of them are to be blamed. Some of them are really good at their service, polite and friendly and whenever I am served by them, they do an excellent job. Now, it feels like a game of chance to see who serves you. Food: 1) The food quality has also gone down. The coconut chutney was watery and not grinded properly. Refer the picture of the idly/vada (dosa and idly pics were taken on different days) and if you are someone from India, you can outright say "That does not look like a properly prepared chutney". Note that 9 out of 10 times the chutneys were excellent and this was just a one time thing. Still this had never happened to me in Saravana Bhavan and was shocked. 2) Paneer Makhani was way too salty, and even after we complained and got it replaced with Paneer Butter Masala, the same issue occurred. The worst part was when my friend and I were told that the salty food was normal, and we were kind of wrong about it being too salty (conveyed by the chefs via the server). Typical Gaslighting. Pros: I do not just want to highlight the bad things and make this review really negative. Here are some of the good things: 1) The dosas, vadas, and idlis – they were really tasty and crunchy. I loved them. Would always recommend people to try it. 2) Even though the restaurant was packed, the food was served really quickly after placing the order. Commendation to the chefs for working at such a good pace to ensure everyone gets their food quickly. It's disappointing that the service and food quality dropped, especially considering how good this place used to be. Sorry for the long review, as I wanted to highlight the things that have went wrong with this branch of Saravana Bhavan. I hope the restaurant manager or owner reads this review and takes the necessary steps to fix these issues. I really want to keep coming back to the old Saravana Bhavan for my comfort food and also recommend it to my friends.

It’s really huge place and ambience is lively. No need to reserve a table , simply walk in. The food taste is same as other chain locations. I tired paneer korma with extra spicy and it was just okay! Filter coffee is also just okay! Not a place for really family dining until and unless you are vegetarian and like South Indian cuisine. Staff are friendly and take away is possible

(Translated by Google) First of all: the food is outstanding! But the rest is a disaster. The staff is indifferent, the inventory is worn out and the food is served in a tray as is otherwise only known in American prisons. But despite everything: great dishes, authentic Indian (everything is at least spicy) and great taste. In addition, it is always very quick and you never wait long after ordering. But I couldn't bring myself to sit comfortably.

No major complaints about the food. But the place is absolutely chaotic. Not sure if the tables are arranged with covid rules on mind. You can pretty much eat out of your neighbor's table. Only for foodies who have the patience not to get distracted by other elements around you.

I found this place by luck and was not disappointed. Very authentic and tasty Indian vegetarian food that was served to me very quickly as I had a train to catch. Had a thali (15€) and a mango lassi (4€), probably a tiny tiny bit pricey but it’s worth it. I found the staff to be nice and helpful. The customers seem to be mainly of Indian background, which says a lot about this restaurant. Next time I’m in Frankfurt I’ll definitely come back.

Nothing remind me of home more than food and that to South Indian food. There is no better place to eat South Indian food in germany as Saravana Bhavan. I should say it has one of the best ambiences and also a wide variety of food in the menu to the point of being too confused to decide on one food. Also, the food actually tasted like in India and not Germanised with no spices. Would definitely recommend it 100%. If you have any german colleagues you want to introduce to proper indian food (no not just naan and butter chicken), bring them here.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is not too pleasant but comfortable and modern. The location is near Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof, which is "golden." Vegetarian food is served here. The price is fair and its range is low. The presentation of dishes is good. I paid €15.00 for my North Indian Thali and €4.0 0 for the Mango Lassi. As a Vietnamese, I found the food decent. However, my Indian and Indonesian friends enjoyed it so much. One drawback that should be mentioned is the service is not too good.

The Food was very authentic and super tasty. It was good that they also had outdoor seating in summer otherwise there is a very long waiting time to be seated. It is located very close to the Frankfurt hauptbahnhof and therefore is very easily accessible. One minus was that we had to wait about 1 hour after ordering for the food to be served it was a little frustrating towards the end.

4/5: Food was authentic, I give that to them. 5/5: Hospitality was amazing. The waiters/waitresses do their jobs humbly. It's very accessible as it's very close to the Hbf. Although the neighborhood isn't so clean. All in all, we enjoyed our food.

What would be better than Saravana Bhavans around major cities of Europe. This place in Frankfurt reminds me of one in Amsterdam. The staff speak German and English fluently along with some other Indian languages. Well managed reception of new arrivals and table bookings. Best for groups and family. The food is delicious as always, touch of Indian taste. Would recommend to have some varieties of Dosa and veg dishes.

This place has been moved and renovated. Very neat toilets and vast place with good interiors. Nice place to taste most of the South Indian foods. Neat seating area and you have to wait in line if there are many people. It is better to book the seats in before hand during weekends or holidays. So that you no need to wait.

Amazing vegan / vegetarian restaurant, just a 2min walk from Frankfurt main station. The staff is very friendly and the food is scrumptious! This is by far my favourite Indian restaurant in the Frankfurt Area. I recommend sharing the starters as the portions are quite filling. The restaurant is busy in the evening hours and you cannot reserve a table, so better bring a few minutes waiting time.

No wonder this place is considered the best Indian restaurant in Frankfurt. Our food was very tasty and absolutely affordable for the size. We came at a busy time and had to wait a little. Service nevertheless was swift and only forgot one of our requests. Highly recommended for a quick bite or a full dinner. Suitable for kids, couples, and even groups.

The food tastes good and the service is reasonably good. They have lot of options ranging between north and South Indian cuisine. I really liked there raha dosa and coconut chutney. The quality of the food is average and can be better. Overall, they are doing a good job on providing authentic Indian food in a foreign country.

You believe Indian food is curry and rice? At Saravanaa Bhavan you have to try the wide variety of Indian food! My recommendation is a Paper Roast Dosa. It’s an ultra-thin, crispy baked rice and lentil pancake served with multiple dips. Delicious! My wife had a spicy Tomato, Onion & Chilli Uthappam. This is a thick pancake with the vegetables baked in.

I really liked the way the food was served. The menu is huge so it’s not easy to decide what to order. The taste was good even though I am not one to judge traditional Indian food. But the amount of oil is crazy. Everything felt very greasy.

Saravanaa Bhawan is a vegetarian restaurant and although this restaurant serves pan Indian vegetarian cuisines, it specialises in South Indian food. So for that if you are craving dosa, idli, utthapam, filter coffee, tiffin meals etc, this is the place to be. Other Indian dishes such as Aloo paratha, manchurian, dal makhni will not have the authentic North Indian flavour or taste but still a good place to satisfy your Indian food cravings. The service is neither too slow nor too fast and atmosphere is good. A rather large area for sitting and it is quite a popular joint so you can even expect some waiting time here.

Their specialty is the Dosa. The curry I found rather boring. Service is sub par. Some things that were ordered arrived very late or not at all. Generally recommend. The location around this restaurant is not the safest though, be cautious in this area of the city.

I don't mind giving them a 5 star. Unless other kitchen, it is hard for indian kitchen to be clean. The place was clean and nice interiors too. As a south indian, I found the taste here really authentic( I have tried only south indian dishes) The thali for 15 euros is nice, only drawback is that you need to call staff everytime if u need something. Positives : Authentic tasty saravana bhavan standards, reasonable price. Tasty vegetarian south indian food. Negatives: Some staffs are not that friendly(would be great if you people remember that "customer service" is most important thing in Germany) Would be great if they remove used plates from tables. Still happy to visit and enjoy the food. And one word to non indians, try south indian food as well :) Dosai, south indian meals etc and try milk tea or filter coffee instead of lassi ;) ;)

(Translated by Google) Nicer ambience inside after moving! Food delicious! The service was rather indifferent, as could be read in previous reviews. Neither friendly nor unfriendly. Doesn't make you feel good. You come to be full, not to have a nice visit to a restaurant. After ordering, the food came very quickly. The outside area was dirty. Garbage like paper was everywhere on the floor from previous guests. But Kaiserstraße is not a place to feel good anyway. Maybe you can change something to make it more comfortable. But I still have one concern about the freshness of the food: Anyone who has seen restaurant esters like Rach or Gordon Ramsay knows that large and confusing cards have a negative effect on freshness and cleanliness. Would like to see the kitchen ... As a guest, you are literally overwhelmed by such a variety on the menu and are overwhelmed at first. I don't find the map's layout appealing either. Always looking for what to eat. There is also Chinese food (but why ???) My tip: Rather small cards and freshly prepared dishes. It's a shame that all in all it's so loveless, because the food actually tastes good and I love Indian food. I don't know how many stars I should give ... taste 5 stars, everything else 1 or 2. (Original) Schöneres Ambiente im Innenbereich nach dem Umzug! Essen lecker! Hab ewig gesucht, was ich essen könnte. Außerdem gibt es chinesische Speisen (but why???)

Go there for amazing south Indian food. The food is little spicy but have authentic south Indian flavors. Cleanliness and ambience is great so as the locality (2 mins walk from FF AM Main). Only 4 star because of poor north Indian taste which is more like a Germanized version but could have been better as Germans don't eat that much sweet curries and dals anyways.

Update: Since moving across the street, I must say their quality dropped significantly. Vada, Dosa and sambar are still enjoyable, but the masala potatoes are overcooked and bland. The chutneys lack their usual kick (maybe they skip the tempering?). The filter coffee was sour. I've been to several Saravanaa Bhavan around the world, and also to some in its home town of Chennai. I am really surprised to say that of all of them, this one is my favorite. We had Masala Dhosa, Samba Vadha, a South Indian Thali and milk tea, and every single dish was unique and extremely flavorful. A fantastic meal with great service!

The dosa was crunchy and tasty, but the paneer did not feel fresh and was rubbery. The gobi manchurian was also extremely disappointing, bland curry, the gobi was definitely not deep fried and overall felt tasteless. The lassi was very well made. The service was also surprisingly slower.

That first taste of sambhar took me back to India. 😊 The balanced flavor of the coconut and spices made us just eat it with a spoon long after our dosa and idly vanished. I read alot about poor service, but I have to say we experienced nothing of the sort. The host was welcoming and requested our impfpass, then led us to our table. He also changed us to a bigger table on request. (Could be cause it was after 9 pm and so customers were clearing out. The waiters came to take our order quickly and brought our food out in good time. The outer part of the dosas were perfectly crispy and thin, and held together slightly spongier middle. All encasing lightly spiced creamy turmeric potatoes and fiery milagaipodi. Don't forget to finish off your meal with some soothing filter coffee in it's signature steel tumbler. To top it all off, they are extremely reasonably priced. If I lived in Frankfurt, I'd be here every week.

Outstanding food close to the station. Among all branches of Saravana Bhavan (and I have been to their branches all over the world), this one takes the cake for the best quality food and service. Extremely well run even when running to full capacity. Expect to wait as lines build up for lunch over the weekends.

Authentic South Indian food with a great variety to choose from. Highly Recommended place to have original South indian food. Service was little bit uncoordinated, we got main course first and then the coffee and starters ( all were served almost the same time).

The food was good and the staff were nice! But the manager at the door who is 60+ something was extremely condescending and rude. I pay for my food and being in a customer facing role he could be a little nicer or just let someone else handle his job. I don’t feel like going back here because of him!

We were starving! We looked in happy cow for vegan places .. 99% was closed (20:30 on Sunday) So we went an Indian vegetarian restaurant. The restaurant is huge!!! The waitresses are nice And they have English menus. They something like 35788532568 dishes, it was kinda hard to choose so we showed them photos from other google reviews of the good we want to order. Everything is super spicy!!! It was so delicious and exciting. We took: 1. the Thali plate, 3 breads with different amazing dips. (Amazing!) 2. Lentils balls (it was ok) 3. Soup (tasty and super spicy!) + 3 beers

I had been to Sarvanaa Bhavan last week. The food was delicious as expected. The covid regulations are in place and they ask for vaccination certificate to see whether you are vaccinated or not, or at least tested. I liked the hospitality of the staff and the taste of homeland food. I am from South India and I definitely recommend this restaurant if you are a fan of Indian food and can withstand the spice level.

Really nice food and it's all vegetarian. The food's delicious and the price is fair, plus it's very conveniently located. It's hard to find south indian fare in Germany - normally you'll get tandoori stuff - so this is really refreshing.

Saravan Bhavan have always been my favorite South Indian restaurant . The Frankfurt Saravan bhavan didn’t disappoint me either . The food was scrumptious. Loved the ghee dosa and the filter coffee. We tried different varieties of dosa and few other dishes . Among the dosas the ghee and masala dosa were the best . The ambiance is also very good . They have renovated and moved across the street from their old spot from 2 years back . Which is a good upgrade . The staff is generally friendly but one of them made a weird remark when we were taking a photo after payment and literally told us to leave , as a joke . Which sure didn’t sound funny to us .So here’s 4 star for that .

Well maintained interiors, Nice Ambience, overall good experience of getting typical South Indian & Indian Food in Germany. As a Tourist, i found the prices are on higher side. Service was bit slow. Food was good, but not that great when comparing to Saravanaa Bhavan in other International Locations . Overall it was nice experience.

Every time I come here, I try different dosas specialities and every time they surprise me with the delicious flavors. Every Dosa has its own taste and is equally delicious. I still cannot tell which one is my favorite. The flavor of Parotas is just amazing. The service is cool, quick and very friendly. Specially ( Ramesh ). The ambience is really awesome and the prices are pocket friendly. Specially the Mini ghee idlis and normal idlis are ideal for the students.

If you are south Indian food lovers, this is the best place. It's very near to main Hauptbahnhof of Frankfurt. Filter coffee, dosa's, Idli and many more varieties. I loved the service they are very fast and great restaurant. And it's not much spicy 😁 definitely anyone can enjoy here.

Great food. Some tables are really close to each other. A bit to congested for the current COVID-19 situation.

Craving authentic South Indian food then this place is a must. Taste and quality is very maintained ( from india to all the places). I have visited this place many times and it’s usually crowded in the weekends or evenings so be prepared for the waiting. Is it worth the waiting ? Absolutely 😊 We ordered this time channa Baruta, mix veg parota and mini idlies. Overall everything is great but this time unfortunately it was on the spicer end. Still a recommended visit 😎

Always a life saver for Indians in foreign countries. The location is very near to the main station which is good thing and the food was also great. I tasted sambar vada and the sambar my God gave me goosebumps, authentic south indian sambar and all my taste buds were alive again and then decided to go with rolls instead of dosa this time. And seriously it's a hidden gem. The masala inside the roll was so so good just don't miss this. Thank me later

The food is very good. Almost every restaurant in Germany that says to have indian food doesn't have authentic feel. But this is the place you feel it's authentic. The slight sprinkle of onion on the top of the sambar vada adds up to it's taste. I have also tried idli, onion masala dosa, and podi masala dosa ( starts with ma... Don't remember the name but the number is 46 I think ;) ), and tea. Everything we ordered was perfect.

Long waiting queues during peak hours, it's better to do table bookings for weekends and public holidays. the staff speaks fluent English and German along with South Indian languages. The food options are a plenty with more into South Indian along with some north Indian food options. It seems to be slightly over priced for the quantity. Menu is marked with Flyern free and Vegan options. One can tell about the food allergies so that they won't include on the food. The ambience is quite good with soothing instrumental music. South Indian Food is tasty and delicious. Recommend Dosa and Veg South Indian dishes. The service was quite bad as we had to wait for long and even for the staff to take up the order.

One of the finest vegetarian food franchise from Tamil Nadu. Food quality and quantity are top notch. Very authentic and tasteful as we have enjoyed in our home town Chennai. It was very surprising to see that they almost serve all the food varieties that we get in Chennai. Great ambiance and friendly staffs but crowded so you may have to wait few mins before get seated. Our favourite Sambar vadai and Dosai varieties are simply outstanding. I’m sure we will be visiting many more times in future!

Though a great Indian chain of restaurants, this branch was a little disappointing. Their air conditioner was turned off during peak summer and the heat from their open kitchen was unbearable. Still deserves 4 stars for the food. All dishes were great.

What a feast it was! - An authentic South Indian food experience and lived up to the expectation for the brand name. Ghee roast masala dosa, masala vada sambar and filter coffee were delicious. Different coconut chutneys had authentic taste. Ambience was pleasant and beautiful too. Overall, highly recommended!😃

It is ranked as one of the best Indian restaurant in Frankfurt, at least according to my Indian friends and they only serve vegetarian food. I love their Dosa, I believe it is the special there. Honestly I am not impressed by the curry, and I will not recommend it if you are heading their for Indian Curry. Nice service and good atmosphere.

We had lunch here on a Sunday afternoon. There was no waiting time to get a table. Food was really good, authentic Indian. We ordered rawa masala and ghee roast masala Dosa. We also had filter coffee which was good as well

Is for me the best South Indian restaurant. Sone people might think it’s overrated but according to me if you’re from India and crave Dosa or idli then this is the place to be . I’ve been here sooo many times and I just love the taste of Paneer dosa and the chutney that you get , they refill it for free also 3-4 times . I always go with my friends so that we can order different varieties of dosa and try everything. The chole bhature is also very good , very oily as well but that’s how it’s supposed to be . The filter coffee just takes you back to India and the sweetness is perfect. Just a heads up , don’t try North Indian food , they take 40-65 mins to make a simple North Indian Kathi roll and it’s not their fault, I won’t ask for a pizza at Mc. Donald’s .

One of the oldest Saravanaa Bhavan in Germany, it maintains its high quality. Food is delicious, service is friendly and prompt and the prices are reasonable. Its location close to the main train station of Frankfurt makes it very easily accessible.

A restaurant chain serving delicacies that is close to India and authentic around the world. In my week’s stay there, I visited this place twice, so I think that justifies this place. Ambience was good and staff was also friendly!

I was very disappointed about the Lassi (Sweet) that I ordered. By far, it was the thinnest lassi I have ever tried. The rest of the order was okay. I went to this outlet, especially to eat Masala Dosa. The taste was good. However, there are pretty few amounts of chutneys and sambar included with Dosa. Service staff was friendly. They speak both English and German. I would give overall three stars for their best hygiene and friendly staff. The recent menu is uploaded for everyone's reference.

Beautiful and cosy vibes. The food was also good, but only drawback is that all the dishes had less salt and spice. Maybe the taste is kept mild on purpose to suit everyone. The service is friendly but sometimes delayed.

Food was good but do not expect same taste as you had in India .Service was way below average, not sure this is usual but we ask our food packed and they just gave empty boxes to fill ourself which is very unlike. Service needs lot of improvement.

Great service and ambience. This is my third visit to Saravana Bhavan, Frankfurt. I like their idly, vada, poori and tea. Especially the chutney and sambar. The Mysore masala dosa I tried last year was delicious but unfortunately I didn't find the same taste last week. The red chutney inside Mysore masala dosa had too much ginger and garlic making the taste too spicy, not a good spice but a bad one. I hope they will bring back the delicious Mysore masala dosa with the perfect spice. Overall, Saravana Bhavan is still my favorite Indian restaurant in Frankfurt.

I had an awesome dining experience! The food was incredibly tasty, the staff were friendly, and the prices were very reasonable. I would highly recommend trying the Idli Vada plate. It was simply delightful! 😍😇

Amazing food. It feels like you're eating authentic South Indian food. We went on Saturday around 1pm and thankfully didn't have to wait, and got our feed quickly. When we were leaving at 2pm, there was a big queue outside. So we felt lucky.

Saravanan Bhavan is near Frankfurt main metro station and railway station opposite site for main gate only 500 meter. South Indian food is very good , big restaurant , good atmosphere, good location . But services is poor.
