The dishes resemble an attempt of reinventing the local cuisine and I think that they did manage to slightly elevate the Frankfurt "green sauce" but that's where it stops for me. Nothing new or creative. Unfortunately it felt like a pretentious version of local pub food with green sauce in every single dish. Edit: Added the unprofessional response of the owner.

Von einem Restaurant mit zwei Sternen und solchen Preisen haben wir viel mehr erwartet. Zuerst haben wir eine halbe Stunde auf eine Flasche Wein gewartet, während uns der zweite Gang bereits gebracht wurde. Suppe wurde uns ohne Besteck gebracht. Wir saßen an einem Tisch in der Nähe der Tür, wodurch beim Öffnen der Tür sehr kalte Luft von hinten hereinwehte. Das Essen war köstlich. Aber für den Preis haben wir mehr erwartet. Was uns am meisten überrascht hat, war der Teller mit Brot und Butter.

Read the reviews: every comment about unfriendliness of the owners is a reflection of the truth. They’re great until you disagree, in which case they will show face and male sure you understand that they make the rules. Would have easily been 4-5 stars until the boss lady and her husband ruined the night. They lack the ability to appreciate feedback and respond with an attitude that is a shame for the entire Michelin community. I’m sad for their staff who did an amazing job. Also the boss lady was acting as sommeliere which she did in a rather uninspired way. She explained why a wine was chosen barely going beyond “it matches the food” but didn’t explain anything about the wine itself. Whenever she gave us a little refill (which generally is nice) she emphasized how it could only be a tiny zip as it’s already a refill… The behavior and the performance of the somm do not reflect the 5 stars. The price does. Unfortunately underwhelmed. Won’t be back :(

This meal will be 3 hours. And unnecessarily so. We thought Google was joking when it said that the average time spent was 3 hours, but Google wasn't joking. The food was as expected for a Michelin star restaurant but the time between courses was filled with bread and twiddling thumbs. It's worth a try but I don't know if it was worth the money per hour.

Food is great, amazing even. But the price you pay for a 3 course menu is not justified. The ingredients where not that special and the plates were plated in a basic manner. After paying for the menu (90) and 10 euro wine pairing with each course, you'll also have to pay 8.50 for the water... It's a shame, the open kitchen is a nice addition and the staff is working hard. But with my experience it was not worth the high price.

Spontan - einen Tag vorher reserviert - waren wir zum ersten Mal im Gustav. Wir wurden herzlich willkommen geheißen und hatten einen schönen Tisch gegenüber der Küche. Es war sehr interessant, den Köchen beim anrichten der Teller zuzuschauen. Eine sehr detailreiche, liebevolle Präsentation! Das Herbstmenu war genau unser Geschmack und dazu auch gleich noch die Weinbegleitung! Alle Gänge und Getränke wurden erklärt und unsere Wünsche immer erfüllt. Toller Service! Die einzelnen Gänge waren immer top! Die Saucen heiß! angegossen und die Teller ebenso sehr schön warm - das kennen wir auch anders…. Mein Favorit ist der gebräunte Sellerie! Die größte Überraschung war aber das Eis und die Champignons dazu - der Hammer! Klasse Abend, der sein Geld und zwei Sterne wert war!

Wir hatten schon zum zweiten Mal Gelegenheit zu einem besonderen Anlass einen außergewöhnlichen Abend im Gustav zu verbringen. Neben dem exzellenten und aufmerksamen Service hat uns die Küche wieder verzaubert. Ganz besonders war für mich auch mein vegetarisches Menü - das gelingt nicht allen Köchen soviel Geschmack auf den Teller zu bringen. Auch wenn einige den Gang mit Brot und Butter seltsam finden - ich habe mich schon im Vorfeld darauf gefreut, weil es die Liebe zu einfachen Produkten von höchster Qualität, Geschmack und Genuss für mich unterstreicht. Absolut schöner Abend!

Visited an year ago and guys, it is a must-go restaurant in Frankfurt. Wonderful food and exceptional wine served by very kind and friendly staffs. Our waiter was amazing. Cozy but modern atmosphere and a nice location. Loved the experience and am willing to visit again!

Ein tolles Restaurant für einen besonderen Abend. Man fühlt sich ab der ersten Sekunde direkt wohl und gut aufgehoben. Das Menü und die dazugehörige Weinbegleitung sind einfach nur toll und harmonisch. Der Service ist nicht aufdringlich und dennoch sehr aufmerksam. Auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert.

Alle Aromen waren super abgestimmt. Der Service konnte uns kompetent beraten und war sehr aufmerksam. Auch war die Atmosphäre angenehm. Obwohl alle Tische besetzt waren, herrschte keine unruhige Lautstärke. Was wir in anderen Gourmet - Restaurants schon hatten. Kann ich sehr empfehlen und wir waren bestimmt nicht das letzte mal dort.

Well deserved 2 stars, nothing else to add. If you are in Frankfurt, do not miss the opportunity to visit Gustav amd enjoy the delicacies. A once in a lifetime experience!

Incredible experience, a tour through unknown tastes. Expansive but fair price for what you get

There are two restaurants in Frankfurt with two Michelin stars and this is one of them. Set in the west end area of the city it has a modern and chic looking place with nice furniture, cutlery and glassware. The staff here are very nice and friendly albeit slightly aloof and the service is spot on. The food however is pretty uninspiring and I couldn’t really tell the difference between the courses. Modern German inspired cuisine is the theme here but I must admit it was disappointing. Have eaten in tons of 2 star restaurants in Germany including the second one in Frankfurt this place would be at the bottom of the list for me. The best part of the meal was the amouse bouche and the waffles in the end. The rest was similar sauce with different additions and quite rich and fatty. I felt my sugar levels rise significantly. Never been to a restaurant at this level where there is no bread to mop up the juices on the plate. The generosity of the kitchen left a lot to be desired and jumping straight from the fatty and super rich duck straight to dessert meant the taste of the dessert was not at all felt. A palette cleanser would have made that so much better. This is the first time at a Michelin restaurant I did not finish my meal despite being hungry. The vegetarian menu was also pretty uninspired and none of us at the table enjoyed our meal. I don’t think I would come back here again. I expect so much more from a restaurant at this level. Looks and service is good but for me it is all about the food.

It’s the first time I tried a Michelin two star restaurant. The entrée had a lot of layers of different tastes. The bottom part of this entrée was crispy and flavorful. When it went inside your mouth, every second made the flavor so different. I was also impressed with the cabbage with mushrooms. I am the person who don’t dare to eat or approche mushroom for my entire life until this cuisine came in front of me. I decided to give it a try. I was sure what they put inside, but I finished the whole bowl. The mushroom went well with cabbage. Last but not least, the dessert was the best ice cream in my life. They simply put some marinated apple and some nuts on the bottom. It went so well with the slightly melted ice cream. In sum, 🌟🌟 resto with 🌟 price. The seasoning is slightly salty, so make sure you have a bottle of good wine to enjoy this meal. Bon appétit

Great food and friendly service. Decor is quirky and beautiful. Only drawback was they had no menu printed in English and staff were not fully able to translate. Overall a fantastic dining experience and watching the cooks in the open kitchen added to the ambiance of a fantastic dining experience!

Dieses Restaurant ist ein absolut besonderer Ort. Das Wohlfühlen steht hier in jeder Hinsicht an oberster Stelle. Ein entspanntes Wohnzimmer Ambiente mit Kunst und tollen Highlights bei der Einrichtung. Ein absolut unaufdringlicher Service der einem von der ersten Minute das Gefühl gibt den Abend entspannt genießen zu können. Das Essen spricht führ sich, alles perfekt auf einander abgestimmt und mit viel Liebe zum Detail zubereitet. Tolle Geschmackskombinationen die perfekt harmonieren. Eine absolute Empfehlung ist die Weinbegleitung, die mit einer ebenso besonderen wie mutigen Auswahl das Menü perfekt abrundet und sogar weit über das normale Maß hinaus befeuert. Ein Highlight für alle die nicht nur außergewöhnlich gut speisen wollen, sondern auch die Details und Persönlichkeit schätzen.

If you can, you must. Absolutely incredible food. Each dish perfectly balanced and delicious. From beetroot, to pigeon, to tartare, it was a wonderful meal.

Ein unvergesslich schöner Abend in einem sehr schönen Ambiente, Das Menu war ebenso perfekt wie die wunderschön erläuterte Weinbegleitung und der unaufdringliche Service während des gesamten Abends.
