Fine dining with casual atmosphere. Excellent food. You will certainly need reservations. I lucked out, being solo and arriving for a late start around 9pm. I rate the food at a 5! The service was spotty. Being alone I did feel a bit ignored at times. My wine glass was empty for half my meal and no one checked to see if I’d like another. Which I did, but they were so busy with larger parties. They also seemed to take an extraordinary amount of time to give me the check. So plan on a very leisurely meal. Don’t be in a hurry to be somewhere else. Food is worth it.

I couldn't recommend this place enough. The seafoods are all so fresh. The staff are so helpful and accommodating. And the ambiance is classy but not intimidating.

Awesome little place, this was our second stop for dinner, we had the Hake, which was phenomenal. This fish was better than Seabass, if you have not had it, please do. The wait staff was wonderful, providing us plenty of information, regarding the menu, and drink menu. We asked about Cote de Rhône , however, they were out of it and made a recommendation for an Italian wine, that was similar, they were spot on, it was wonderful, and we enjoyed it to the last drop. !!

An excellent restaurant and a fantastic dining experience. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming the moment you walk in the door. The service and food was to the highest standard and not in slightest bit pretentious. They had sold out of Sea Trout so we both had sea bass which was excellent. I had a very tasty seafood chowder for starters and was finished off with three flavours of very tasty ice cream to clear the pallet. The wine was excellent and the list extensive. I felt as many locals as tourists used the restaurant, many of the clientele seemed to be regulars. Well worth a visit and the experience, a booking is required. High up on my all time favourite restaurant list possibly even number 1.

We’ve been before and returned for a family dinner this week. The food was amazing (both the seafood and the steak lovers were thrilled), service was perfect and the atmosphere was lovely - Even the tables were beautiful. We‘ll be back!

Food was superb with stellar service! We sat at the terrace which was perfect. I got the roast duck and that was definitely the best duck I’ve ever had! The steak was thick and cooked perfectly. All in all, super recommend I’d definitely come back whenever I’m in Galway again. Absolutely friendly staff👍🏼

My boyfriend surprised me with a date to this restaurant on our anniversary getaway in Galway. Absolutely amazing restaurant from the ambience to the service to the live music 🎶. What a romantic vibe this place exudes. I made a reel on this experience on my Instagram account @__sandy.m called Fine Dining in Galway. One thing to note it's always fully booked therefore reservations have to be made in advance but it's worth the hustle.

Delicious oysters, pricey 17 euros for 6 but they are very tasty. We had the linguine (nice), seafood platter (1 very small oyster, mackerel (dry), smoked salmon (nice portion) and 4 or 5 prawns with cocktail sauce (nice)- seafood platter is pricey (27e) then we had the apple pudding (average), crème brûlée (nice but very thin and therefore quite a small size (no biscuit btw)- desserts are pricey for what they are, not worth it. Bill 177 euros for 18 oysters, 2 linguines, seafood platter, 2 desserts and a bottle of white wine with tip you get to 200 erupts for 3 people. Nice service, nice food (delicious Irish soda bread) but overall quite pricey for what we had.

Such an incredible spot! Server recommendations were excellent! Caeser salad feature was easily one of the top three I’ve ever had, prawns were full flavored and poached beautifully, duck was not only gorgeous to look at but even more delicious than its beautiful presentation. Host team got us quickly seated, without reservations, in the patio and were more than happy to adjust the heaters for our comfort. Our server was amazingly attentive and made the experience absolutely wonderful. They’re definitely deserving of all the rewards they’ve received!

It was my Father in law's 70th birthday and the restaurant staffs made him fill so special with cake and candles and singing happy birthday 🎂 the black sole grill i ordered was to die for and the hake my husband ordered was cooked to perfection 🥰. Beautiful ambiance and very friendly host. will definitely go back again when we visit Galway.

What a brilliant place! Have been to Kirwan’s a few times now over the past few years and have never been let down. Staff are friendly, cheerful, accommodating and professional. Everything from the treacle bread to the dessert was excellent. Lovely wine from an extensive menu and very generous pours! Prawns to start were delicious and a really decent size portion for a starter. We had sea bass for the main. Another good size portion and the sautéed potatoes it’s served with were just divine. Upside down white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake was delicious! Had this here years ago and delighted to see it back on the menu. I find a place is often let down by dessert but this was great and not something you see often. Incredible value on the lunch menu for the standard of food and service you receive. An absolute must in Galway!

The seafood was quite excellent: we tried the scallops & pork belly appetizer as well as the mussels. They were cooked to perfection and burst with flavour. The onion bread was quite flavorful. However, there was a minor inconsistency in the preparation. The steak main dish, did not exhibit the same level of precision. Its preparation appeared to be unevenly executed. The service was quite nice, our waitress was prompt and engaging. We would go back here again, but we would only recommend the seafood dishes. In summary: 5/5 for seafood, 4/5 overall.

Me and my family had an amazing time at Kirwan’s. All of the staff were wonderful, excellent service. The food was fast to come out and all tasted amazing and super fresh, especially the oysters which were a favourite for us! All 4 of us got different mains and they were all delicious. I don’t think the pictures do it justice as my phone camera in the outside evening light was a bit funny but would highly recommend this place.

I visited the Seafood Bar tonight and had a really great dinner experience. My friend and I were the last table at the restaurant and didn’t feel hurried to leave in the slightest. The staff happily served us dessert even though we were the last table on a quiet, rainy Thursday evening. Thanks very much for the delicious meal!

Perfectly seared scallops with extremely juicy inside. Crab tagliatelle was slightly undersalted but easily corrected at table. Attentive staff and pleasant volume level. Oysters were lovely too.

  • 5/5 Wayne M. 2 years ago on Google
Excellent(again)! Mussels for starter, had the 'small/starter' sized portion which is plenty, even for 2! The turbot(see pic) was delish, and so was the duck. The merlot was good, the Pinot had no complaints. Atmosphere and barstaff were heightened, our dining area was a little dim but I noticed the bulbs above our table probably needed replacing, tealights set the ambience! All in all - excellent dining experience.

The restaurant was tucked out of the way but a great getaway from the rain and cold. They asked if we had reservations but we were still seated as this was just a brief stop through town. I wish I gotten more pictures but I'm in vacation mode. My wife got the seafood chowder which was a healthy portion and delicious. I got the Linguine with clams and mussels. It was so fresh and delicious.

Last-minute decision and they managed to find us a table. Great food with an upscale atmosphere but reasonably priced. Seafood can be challenging but they did it well. Wine list offers a good range but needs one more on the top end (to impress the clients). Overall, a great experience.

Dinner was fantastic. This is a charming little spot in a back alley with a romantic atmosphere and great food. The caesar salad on special was the best we’ve ever had, chowder, chicken and sea bass were all good. And the Apple cake was perfect!

Delicious food. Place is a little hidden but it will worth the search. Price quality ratio is very decent, recommend to go for dinner, normally won’t need any booking in advance but if you pick a peak hour you may find it hard to get a table. Give it a call before going, just in case, we were lucky 🍀 and we found one, but when we were leaving the place was full.

Wow. Some of the best fish and oysters I ever had. The music was excellent, the presentation impeccable and the service was great. If you don’t know where it is, good luck stumbling unto it, use maps. You do need to make a reservation, we did it the same day (for 3) and it was okay. The vanilla crème brûlée was SO good. You should really try this place!

This Michelin rated restaurant is tucked in a small lane near Spanish Arch. Reservations are strongly recommended as we showed up at opening and got the only 2 seats at the bar that weren't spoken for. Yes, they book the bar seats for dining. Service is impeccable with good recommendations for food and wine. For starters, oysters were briny and sweet with an excellent mignonette and the crab spring roll had good flavor. The sea bass was delicate with crisp skin and a delightful sauce. Asparagus was very fresh. The salmon was substantial, perfectly cooked and atop a flavorful risotto with peas and bacon lardons.

The staff were absolutely excellent and so helpful. The Gambas prawns I ate may well be the best food I’ve ever tasted in my entire life, made going back to Birdseye fish fingers at home even more depressing. The highlight of the weekend in Galway, could not recommend this place enough, absolutely fantastic restaurant, so much cheaper than these dopes in Dublin too. It’s actually been about two weeks since I was here but I can’t stop thinking about those prawns Christ

Wow. Just ate an amazing lunch here. I had beautiful crab and my husband had Gamba prawns. The cheesecake for dessert was the best he's ever had. Highly recommend this lovely restaurant because of the food and the atmosphere and the staff are Greally friendly. Well worth a visit
