Tourist trap. Maybe it's okay to get there a pint a beer but avoid dining. The Guinness beef stew I've ordered was the worst meal in Ireland I've ever had and to be honest it was hard to find beef there, stew was made mostly of carrots and celery. The sauce was tasteless and no traces of beer was found. Maybe I was just not lucky and had to pick chowder or burger or something else, but it was my experience. As the place is situated on the main touristic street they don't need to take care about the quality of their food.

Dined in for lunch few months ago. Very poor service, pretty much was left unattended after being guided to the outdoor table that still had pool of rain on it, had to ask the waitress specifically to dry it up. I ordered oysters and lobster. Oysters were poorly shucked with shells on it and lobster was too dry and stiff and definitely overpriced for this standard. Definitely won’t go back there again.

Excellent Gastro Pub in the heart of Galway City. Lovely atmosphere and amazing Seafood and Menus. Well worth a visit.

A great recommendation from our hotel for our first night here. We asked for a great seafood restaurant and they delivered. We had the crab claws as an appetizer and both specials (John Dory and scallops). They were both excellent. The staff and service is excellent as well

We ordered cod and steak from the main menu, oysters and smoked salmon salad from the starter, as well as four of the available draft beers. The steak was hefty (280g) and quite good. The seafood was all fresh, though oysters were not the best that we have tried. The Kings Head ale brewed inhouse was really good. Food was prepared a lot quicker than expected, which was nice since we were on a tight schedule.

We stopped in Galway for a few days and enjoyed lunch here. Food was great, drinks were really good and a great pub experience while in Ireland. It does get crowded so I recommend going going early if you want to beat the crowds.

We were in Galway on a Saturday afternoon and the town was busy. We popped into the Kings Head base on our tour guide recommendation. They had a few tables available since it was past lunch time and we got sited quickly. We ordered oysters which were on smaller size, rib eye steak which was cooked really good and muscles pot which the portion was huge. The service was deadly slow and unfortunately we had to flag the people for anything we needed even though there were 4-5 of them just in our area. Worth stopping into this 800 year old building and 400 year old pub for a pint if you have time to wait around.

the bruschetta, brown bread, and smoked salmon were good! The hamburgers were just okay and the stew was good. The breaded chicken was really good. My favorite were the potatoes. Nice history behind the place too.

Paid another visit to The Kings Head in Galway this weekend. This time for food, and WOW. The service was great. There were no tables when we got there, so they gave us a buzzer and we headed to the bar for a drink. We were only waiting for about 15 minutes and we were summoned to the restaurant. Service there was also very good and when the food got to us, it was worth the very short wait. I had the venison burger and others in my company had the fish pie, the scallops, and the Monk Fish, and everyone said it was delicious, including myself who thought the Venison burger was phenomenal. Nice restaurant and nice bar.

We stopped here Street a trip to the cliffs of Moher and dang am I happy we did. I got the seafood chowder which was excellent and cheap for the amount and quality of it. After that I got the mussels and they were hands down some of the best mussels I've ever had. My wife got the fish and chips and she said it was the best fish and chips she'd had in Ireland yet. The service here was spot on also. Highly recommended!

Great pub in the centre of Galway. I especially liked that they have their own red ale, the marvelous interior, and the history of the place. If you are in the city, I highly recommend to visit.

There was a long wait, but we spent it over Guinness at the bar. Food was very good! Full of flavor & spices and was just a great experience overall. Main dishes come as large portions.

We had the crab cakes and mushroom bruschetta to start with. We didn't like them, the crab cakes had coriander and the mushroom bruschetta was disappointing. The mussels were great, the grilled cod was a bit off (the flavour was a bit strange, not sure why) and the scallops were really good too. Overall a bit disappointing with some good highlights (order the mussels and the scallops!) but the service was friendly and the place was nice.

This place has a lot of hype and the experience was great. The food was average pub food, but there are other places with less of a pull and far better food.

Very good pub in cork. Good selection of pints and the atmosphere is really carachteristic. It is one of the oldest pub in town and they have a very good Irish live music every night. It is a must to be place to fell the Irish sentqtions. Staff is nice and toilets where clean

Love coming to the King’s Head each time we are in Galway. The food is great - the mussels are amazing, the scallops are delicious, and the chicken dish is so good. Definitely recommend.

Goodness, what a delicious dinner! My husband’s fish was the most beautiful piece of fish I’ve ever seen. My roast Turkey/Ham hit the spot! The wait staff were all so lovely.

We were looking for good pub food and we found it. We had the burger and fish and chips, both were the perfect size. The burger was outstanding in my opinion the bacon was thick cut the patty was also very thick and juicy. The atmosphere is very Irish pub, cool seating and a warm fireplace at the entrance. We really enjoyed

The original owner of the place was the mayor of Galway several centuries ago, and then the place was taken over by a colonel who also beheaded the king! Hence the name: The Kings Head Bistro! Story aside, food was great. The stew, onion rings and bruschetta were all perfect. The drinks were excellent, especially the rosemary gimlet. Service was super friendly and attentive. There's a hidden courtyard in the back, tucked away from the touristy front. Great place to visit in Galway.

We were just passing through Galway and we were recommended the King's head pub. We had some great pints of beer and it's quite the pub for sure. Prices are fair and staff is friendly! Totally recommend it 💕

I've been to the kings head many times for drinks and it has been a lovely experience. But the food was not enjoyable at all. Chicken wings are done in a spicy thick breadcrumb and just deep fried, with a sauce on the side that was like horseradish sauce. Not nice at all. The King Charles burger came out on a board with a basket of chips that were reheated and were not edible so hard and greasy. The bun on the burger was soaked in grease from the burger which was also deep fried. So disappointing. Only upside wasThe staff were lovely

Some of the best fish and chips that I've had in Ireland. Definitely a fun place.

Unfortunately, we had an unpleasant experience dealing with management. We were seated at a wonky table which caused our drinks to spill (not a big deal). In the past, I placed coasters under the table legs to even it out but their were none in sight. So we politely asked to be seated at the empty table near us instead. Rather than helping, the female manager with blonde hair made a passive aggressive remark and walked off. We left shortly after. It was a simple question - please learn to control your temper.

Our dining experience ruined by inexperienced staff and lack of Management leadership. Such a shame food was excellent. Owing to an incident in the bistro yesterday lunchtime lack of explanation service was forgotten completely by all the staff on duty .Ruined what had otherwise been a lovely afternoon. We were completely ignored and received no service once our meals were delivered. Had to complain and they lost their tip.

Very tasty food... Friendly service. We were lucky to get a table for 6 without any wait. The food really surprised us with the taste and every dish was delightful. My wife enjoyed the oysters while I had the wild mushrooms on toast. The kids really enjoyed their risotto. The ambiance was also superb. We may return for another session tomorrow.

attended a re-union dinner there last night. Great service, great food, friendly staff. The catch of the day was monkfish and it was superb. Great place in the heart of the city.

A great place to go in Ireland. The staff is very friendly. Our waitress was the best. We asked her a ton of questions. Not just of the food but also of Ireland and the Irish language too. I wish I had remembered her name so I could put her name in here. She told us but I've forgot. I do remember she had dark hair and tattoos. All the staff was friendly and the bar tender showed us the 800 yr old wall. But our waitress was the best of all. I hope the management of the read this will relay this to her.
