Great place overlooking the sea. Came here for High Tea at RM152 for 2 people. The sandwiches and scones were excellent and we absolutely loved it. However, their cakes were very generic and nothing fantastic about them. With the price point we would have expected a flawless experience however, we were sadly disappointed with the quality of the cakes.

The salad selection was a bit disappointed. There is no Cesar salad. No crotons, no rasins. Thousand island dressing was spicy.. that's a first. Some of the greens weren't cut into smaller pieces. There was no way to toast the bread. Refill was very slow, it took more than 10 minutes. The over food quality was very good and fresh. The juicy smoke duck was excellent. The service was good and polite. The sitting environment was cozy and comfortable. For a little more, lunch buffet is a better option.

Came here for its afternoon tea to celebrate mom's birthday. Please book ahead to avoid disappointment. Love the colonial setting. What a wonderful experience. We couldnt finish the food so had to pack for take away.

Cosy environment to enjoy your meal. Select between indoor and outdoor seating which are best in its own way. Comfortable setting indoor with air conditioned environment and furnished with cozy sofas to sip through your drinks. Outdoor seating overseeing the sea with the view streching over the penang bridge and straits quay, with occasional cruise ship passing by.

Lovely location overlooking the water. Sandwiches were lovely, good tea. Some downsides unfortunately - the air con units dripped condensation onto table, food and guests regularly - clearly a regular issue for the venue, but they seemed surprised when we mentioned it to them. The cakes were not particularly nice - aesthetically pleasing, but tasted like they were commercially produced.

It is quite a reasonable place. Continental style breakfast is served between 0630 and 1100. Coffee and tea are available until late into the evening. It gets very busy between 1700 and 1800 daily when complimentary alcoholic drinks and small snacks are served. Staff are helpful. One uncomfortable matter is the stink of burning tobacco smoke from the designated smoking area on the balcony immediately outside the lounge.

Whilst staying at the hotel, the family decided to stay and have dinner one evening here. At first the staff were very attentive to serve us, but upon ordering our first drinks and meals the staff were no longer to be seen. The meals turned up after a fairly long wait and for the price of the food and quality of the hotel, it was disappointing. I had the chicken skewers that were mainly gristle, with a very unappealing flavour which in the end I had to leave half of the meal. After complaining these were removed from the bill thankfully, but I wouldn’t recommend rushing to eat here, vs many other good eateries around GeorgeTown

PLANTERS LOUNGE at E&O Hotel (Penang) has the elegant classic contemporary dining setting, overlooking the picture-perfect Andaman Sea. It serve up authentic Italian & Mediterranean cuisine. Personally, I really did enjoy my dining experience and the food is delicious!

Nice scenary at the out door, the pastries and the tea for the hi-tea set is fine. The only thing was they forgotten my bookings which I made through phone and keep mistakenly the pax, I said 2, they expected 3 for few times. Wait for awhile at the lobby and luckily still have table for us. Anyway, if you would like to take photo with nice scenary while having hi-tea, you may consider here.

A cosy and chic lounge with nostalgic collections. Tried their Orange Custard Pudding, which was expensive but the flavours lived up to it. Not cloyingly sweet with hints of citrus kick in every bite. The top layer was flame torched, giving a contrasting texture to the smooth and creamy pudding. A better option compared to the ice cream. And yes, loved the service!

Planters Lounge at the Eastern & Oriental‘s sixth floor was the place to get in for coffee or tea all day and that is where they had their happy hour at 17:00 daily. It also had dining options, I believe. Not sure about the lunch options. Overlooking Penang Strait, it sure was a beautiful view. The child and I came here thrice during our stay, two days for their happy hour, and one morning for their breakfast. The breakfast was a continental offering, with bread, croissants, juices, coffees, teas, fresh fruits, preserved fruits, dried fruits, nuts, cereals, milk, muffins, pastries and such. Plenty for the meat eaters as well. I relished the lychees, dried apricots, and mangoes. Sipped on espresso and mint tea. The child got himself some toast, muffin and crackers but barely ate anything. He was enjoying playing with truck and bus and hopping and skipping around. The lounge inside seating of the lounge is a mix of sleek and classic look, unlike the overall hotel look and feel, which is more British / colonial/classic looking. The once-exclusive lounge for hotel guests is now opened to public in lieu of closure of other dining options at Heritage Wing. We visited Planters Lounge one Sunday noon for its Sunday Roast buffet with premium food including roasted chicken, lamb and beef. Compared to old location, the sixth floor lounge is definitely cozier with breathtaking seaview.

Nice atmosphere. But has unique taste. Service there was prompt and very friendly. Price is at the normal lounge hotel rate. They have quite a variety vegetarian selection.

Came here for their new Asian hi tea every Sundays 2.30pm at RM99 nett per pax. I must say, the food was mere disappointment. Cold foods.. laksa soup cold, dim sum cold, mee goreng mamak too salty, satay cold, felt like everything was a left over from breakfast and lunch. Doesn't taste fresh. The only thing was good was the teh tarik. Cakes and desserts look unappetising. Apart from the seaview, service and ambiece, What we paid for 2 pax was a waste of money. Sarkies buffet would be a better bet with warm food with the same price, more choices.

A colonial style cafe overlooking the Straits of Malacca. The Swiss cheese and mushroom sandwich is delicious. There are better cocktails on the island but the view makes up for it

Came here for a memorable anniversary dinner and had an exceptional evening. I've been to most of the E&O restaurants before but our first time here due to the Heritage Wing being upgraded. The food, friendly service, sea views, environment add added to a really special night - thanks to all staff for good attentive and yet not intrusive service.

😠 I reached at around 2:30pm and still need to queue till 3:00 pm. Disappointed with the food because the deep fried fish roe and fish are hard rather than crispy. The gravy is also so so only.

👍 Queue seemed quite long when we arrived around 2.30 pm but we only waited about 20 minutes. I think they should have more signage to tell customers what to do so the process can be easier. There was only one waiter upstairs in the seating area so it was quite difficult to get his attention. Food is...
