Stayed for 3 nights at this hotel. Hotel is very convenient, walking distance to nearby famous Armenian street. Staff was courteous and welcoming. Do stay at Club Lounge, it is worth the money. Attentive staff and always willing to assist.
I stayed 3 nights and it was peaceful and pleasant. The room is clean and housekeeping was good. The service staff were pleasant, welcoming and helpful. The hotel is close to amenities such as shopping malls, supermarket and bus terminal. My room rate included a good buffet breakfast. There are other 4 stars hotels in Georgetown with lower room rates, but i consider my stay here to be good value. I would recommend staying here.
Our family have booked and stayed in this hotel for 4 days 3 nights. It did not started off well, as there was a system issues when we arrived for check in, however after feedback their customer recovery services are definitely one of best in hotel industry. Overall our stay here is very comfortable as their customer services is excellent. If i am going to penang again, would definitely stay in Jen again.
We want to write a review for hotel Jen Penang shangri-la for their wonderful hospitality and the way each and every staff in the hotel were so nice and comforting to my family and I, especially paying attention to my elderly parent's needs. Right from the start whether it be room upgrades and changing rooms for my elderly parent's due to having a bathtub in their rooms and due to safety reason and due to their immobility, they came over to change the rooms for them. Grateful and thankful to Mr Roslan and Ms Ashinee. Even to the extent when their swimming pool was under maintenance and they arranged for us to have a swim opposite our hotel and escorted us to the opposite hotel and even brought us back to our hotel after the swim just to make sure we were safe. Wow! Totally impressed. Very convenient locations and komta and 2 shopping centre is a stone throw away. 5 star 🌟
We came here for dinner and had an excellent experience with Mr Subbiah from the very start till the end. Kudos to him for the recommendation of food of the Cheesecake which was delicious. Love it! Will definitely come again for this quality service!
I recently stayed at this hotel and overall, it met my expectations. The room was clean, comfortable, and the location was convenient. However, there is room for improvement at the front counter, especially during peak check-in and check-out hours. When I arrived, the lobby was crowded with guests, and the waiting time at the front desk was longer than expected. This could be improved by having more staff on duty during these high-traffic periods. Additionally, the layout of the reception area presents a small challenge — two pillars partially block the view and movement of guests queuing in front of the counter. Installing clear queue guides or waiting poles could help organize the line better and reduce confusion during busy hours. Despite these minor issues, the overall experience was pleasant, and I would consider staying again.
The hotel location is very strategic. Walking distance to many food eateries and attractions. Room is clean, spacious, comfortable and good sound proofing. Room amenities provided are good and sufficient. Front desk has gone above and beyond making sure our needs are fulfilled. Good breakfast spread with lots of choice.
Stayed for 2 nights. Location is excellent and plenty of delicious food nearby. There are several areas that need improvement. The room had a stale smell every time I entered. Cleanliness could also be better, as the room didn’t feel as fresh as expected. Lack of soundproofing, I can hear conversations in the corridor and even footsteps from the floor above. Additionally the body lotion was already empty on the first night. Disappointingly, it wasn’t refilled on the second day either, which show lack of attention to the detail. Overall, the location is a big plus, but better housekeeping and room cleanliness standards would make the stay more comfortable.
Good location and walking distance to most of the main attractionss in Georgetown (use Grabs for those that are a little further). Depending on which side of the hotel you are situated you will see the water but one side has the closest shopping centre roof which isn't all that attractive but you can still see the sea. The staff are very pleasant and efficient. The housekeeping staff do an amazing job. We had a pleasant stay and would happily stay again. The Club Lounge was also very pleasant of an evening.
The rooms were really beautiful and clean. I love that the floor is vinyl. I prefer that as sometimes I worry what gets trapped in the carpet. Beds were not too soft. Which was good because lumbar support is necessary for some of us. When we request for items, the hotel reception even calls to double check if we have received them. I think that's really thoughtful. As for the location, its near to cafes and 1st avenue mall is just next to Hotel Jen. Very convenient. Massage places are opposite the hotel as well. Love that! To add on to my joy, a live band plays there. Throwing classics like Celine Dion. My favourite part of the hotel is the cafe at Level 16, it gives a beautiful view over Georgetown while I had my cakes, fruit and coffee over there in the evening. 5/5. Very satisfied.
Location, convenient. Next to a shopping mall (literally 3min walk from hotel lobby. Upon exiting the hotel, turn left). Easy to find food everywhere in Georgetown. Check in, smooth and easy. Lounge on Level 16. Not impressive. If we return, we would book a room without access to the lounge. For breakfast, the same food from Cafe Jen but less option. For happy hour, too crowded and noisy, packed. Finger food was not nice. Gym, spacious. Good. Room, compact and clean. Bed, comfortable. Amenity, reasonable. Any problem during our stay? Yes. Work (banging sound) in the roof, we were on Level 17. Called staff on the phone and lady helped move us to another room on Level 16. Thank you. Check Out, smooth. Used Grab to go airport (RM29, I think). Did we enjoy? Yes Would we return to Jen? Yes.
A great location for everything in George Town. Very friendly helpful staff. Lovely breakfast. We had a meal one evening that was delicious. The pool area was great and especially welcoming after the heat of George town. The room is well equipped for your needs.
Stayed for 6 days. Room was spacious enough for 3 adults and had a sea view. Staff were helpful and nice. Breakfast was every good with wide range of food. Location was good. Walking distance to some places of interest - Armenian Street, clans piers, food alleys.
This hotel is centrally located in Georgetown and was perfect for my 2 night stay. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable with all the amenities one requires, except a bar-fridge that chills (this one doesn't). Thankfully I simply requested an ice bucket via the online service portal and one arrived to my room within minutes. The beds and pillows were comfortable with quality linens provided. The bathroom was nice, featuring quality L'Occitane soap, shampoo & conditioner. The toilet is equiped with an automatic bidet. Unfortunately, the housekeeping let Jen down, having returned from a morning and afternoon out exploring, only to return to our room not serviced was disappointing. We put a call through to have it done and then headed out to dinner, when we returned this time it seemed like it was a rushed job The pool area was a bit boring and felt they could enhance the atmosphere by playing some music through speakers, adding a bar service or some more comfortable sitting areas that would make you want to utilize this area for longer. The executive lounge located on 16th floor was a nice inclusion to our stay and the service here was good and we made use of the complimentary drinks and snacks in the late afternoons. The buffet breakfast was enjoyable with a decent selection of Asian and western choices, albeit no "real" bacon, I'm guessing due to the oppressive Islamic rules imposed on all, even though only approx 70% of population is Muslim. Overall this is a decent hotel and would suit ta business traveller, however due to its location would make exploring Georgetown easy for anyone. I liked my experience and would consider staying here again.
No mistake it's a Shangri-la-managed hotel after all. The concierge, front desk, room service, and club lounge staff... all exude the same professionalism and service excellence one would expect of Shangri-la. Although JEN is only a 4-star hotel, Shangri-la customer service is always 5-star! This JEN Penang 16th and 17th floor are suite level whereby suite guests have all-day access to its 16th floor Club Lounge for included buffet style breakfast, hi-tea, and dinner with free flow of wines and liquor... plus excellent city view. The room is spacious and clean with adjustable air-con. All wall outlets are equipped with international plugs with a built-in USB-A charging port. The bathroom is equipped with a bidet. One nice convenient feature is we can order room items (e.g. pillows, slippers, etc) via the member's app and the room service staff is very quick to deliver. The buffet breakfast is okay (not comparable to Shangri-la Singapore 5-star) and I like that it's self-service machine-brewed fresh coffee and milk. This hotel is indeed in the heart of Georgetown; within walking distance to the UNESCO sites and shopping malls.
Great hotel, nice and clean. Full of facilities. There is a big gym with sauna and steam room. The swimming pool is quite small. Breakfast drinks are great with healthy choices of fresh fruit juice. But the breakfast was the same every day. Someday, the chicken and fish were so hard, and they seemed left over from dinner.
