We normally show up just to get cendol in the middle of the afternoon but this time after a two-year hiatus, we decided to have a real lunch and try their other famous dishes including char koay teow, assam laksa and popiah. With the exception of the popiah, the two little dishes were outstanding. The popiah was actually not bad but was a little bit soggy this time though the cendol of course was consistently perfect as always. The best on the island! It's all about their gula Melaka! 😋 All the staff observed COVID protocols and best practices and the patrons did as well... for the most part.

The only cafe u should visit when u in Penang. Food here is good except the Penang Laksa. The original laksa stall has moved near to the end of this street. On the Chendol maybe should order the larger bowl to have more ingredients. There is another Chendol stall opposite this famous one. Dun be mistaken.

I recently indulged in Penang's culinary delights at the intersection of flavor on Chulia Street. The Penang Asam Laksa from this spot was a delightful burst of tangy and spicy goodness, truly capturing the essence of this iconic dish. Equally satisfying was the Rojak from the nearby Indian store, showcasing a harmonious blend of flavors and textures. Conveniently situated beside the renowned cendol vendor, this area forms a trifecta of Penang's best. The lively atmosphere adds to the overall experience, creating a sensory feast that's hard to forget. While finding a seat may be a challenge due to the popularity, the taste journey makes it well worth navigating the crowd. For an authentic taste of Penang's culinary heritage, this spot stands out as a must-visit, offering a delightful trio of Asam Laksa, Rojak, and cendol.

Fried Kway Teow with Duck Egg - RM9.00 Chendol - RM4.40 Fried Kway Teow exceeded my expectations! I don't think I have ever read about this place so I wasn't expecting much but their kway teow has so much wok hey and the duck egg gave it so much fragrance. Came with two big prawn and a few cockles. I was really satisfied with this as compared to the 'famous' one at Chulian. As for the Chendol, I don't think there was anything special. It's chendol. But the aunty and uncle manning the stall were friendly though! Good food is the way to start the day.

To be honest, I thought the duck egg char kuey teow here is great. Even better than tiger char kuey teow. Their oyster omelette is delicious as well, but their assam laksa is meh. You can also have the famous teochew cendol here which is literally outside this cafe.

9RM Duck Egg Char Kway Teow is good! Well balanced with 2 peeled fresh prawns. Chendol was tasty too with a huge hit of Gula Melaka without being too overpowering. Only the Oyster Omelette was disappointing. No wok hei, wet, eggy with a bad sweet chilli pairing. No idea how to enjoy it properly. Stick with the CKT and Cendol if you are here!

This is a great little coffee shop located just along the main road. While it maybe a struggle to find a seat but trust me the hustle, bustle and heat is well worth it! In order of merit, have listed out the must eats 1. Oyster Omelette here was simply phenomenal. It was so good that we had to re-order with a large portion instead. - the oysters were impeccably fresh, tasted just out of the ocean - the Kueh within the omelette was soft and nice - the eggs were not overcooked and still the perfect amount of firmness 2. Chendol: in light of the heat, the chendol here provided a cool respite for us, the chendol was not overly sweet, the green stuff within were just amazing! Strongly recommend to get at least 1 per pax 3. Char Kway teow: this is something that had accoldates from Michelin. It was good, but felt like it was missing somethings to make it great 4. Lor bak with other fried stuff: surprisingly good, the sauce came with abit of chili and lor bak sauce. This gave the sauce a very interesting twist Overall great experience within this coffee shop!

I am feeling nostalgia, hence, when there to find some memories. The Assam Laksa is on average, but I still think that old days is better. For chendol, I doubt that it is the same as the "original" roadside stall, although we had confirmed again with the waiter there, as we know that there will be a RM 1.00 surcharge if is the "original", however, it is still on par. Didn't have chance to test the char kuey teow, waiting time is 45 mins on that day. One of the highlight was the Fried Oyster omelette which is above average. Atmosphere was the same as old day, which means hot and unorganised.

This is a very popular coffee shop and you need to go early to be able to grab a table without having to queue. The only good things to eat here are the fantastic Char Kuih Teow, the refreshingly cool Cendol, and the amazing Oyster omelette. Don't bother with the other stalls. They are all rubbish.

My fav place to have penang asam laksa and oyster 😍🫶🏻 the oyster is just 💯 will always visit this place whenever i go to penang. And not forgetting the cendol! It’s super yummy too! Downside is that it’s super crowded unless you go early in the morning. Gotta queue to get seats at this kopitiam.

The assam laksa here tasted 👍 compared the air itam(my tastebud). However, the ckt is so-so, tasted better elsewhere. The fruit rojak could taste better if it has the crunchy prawn fritter. The cendol tasted different when had it dine in vs take away.Take away 1 tasted way better😅

This coffee shop located in the city of Georgetown and nearby to Komtar. Behind the coffee shop there is big space of parking lots. Just about 2mins walking distance from the parking to the coffee shop. The are few stalls. We had Char Keoy Teow ... Laksa and Loh Bak. All tasted yummy. Of course never forget with their Chendol. We went there during weekdays ... so no hassle of getting seats in the shop.

Very popular restaurant that has been around for ages. Does get crowded during peak times. Parking is available a short walk away. The famous TeoChew Cendol is located beside them which you can order when dining in here. Friendly staff. We tried quite a bit. The char kway teow is yummy with big juicy prawns & good wok hei. The asam laksa is above average. The broth could be stronger. Their chee cheong fun was surprising. The sauces were thick & flavors packed a punch. I would give the lobak a miss. Didn't get to try the oyster omelette although heard good things. Overall a great place to try Penang favourites.

In 2018, this place was just as crowded as it is now, but I don't remember the stall owners actively touting for businesses back then. It's undoubtedly a popular spot for tourists due to the relatively higher food prices... That being stated, we decided to sample a range of dishes, and the clear winner among them was the fried kway teow.

You can get the famous Penang street food all at this cafe. The food are all yummy and highly rated. You can also rest your legs here after strolling around George Town. You might need to wait for a table during a busy day. But it’s definitely worth it. Price of food are tourist price but still cheaper than in Singapore and the food is authentic Penang food. Must try!

Love the kueytiaw so much. Very delicious. I really like how they cooked it, not too oily. The shrimp also very fresh. The price is affordable. The place is just okay, not bad. Should try if you want to eat delicious kueytiaw.

Not worth the Michelin Bib Gourmand reward. Doesnt have to flavourful penang CKK taste. Not even wok-hei accounted. I eaten much much more better CKK in penang. The coffee shop itself are very crowded with tourist. Be more specifically, only tourist will find this CKK delicious but definitely not for local myself. Penang CKK supposingly to fried with chives unless you dont want but this does not have at all. Cockles also dun have when I visit Tourist, please beside this there so many CKK you can have than this one.

Able to walk in and get a table immediately. Tried the famous penang cendol (don't need to queue if you dine in). The ice is very fine and melts easily. It's the best chendol I've tasted in Penang. Asam laksa is delicious, thick broth. Surprisingly, the oh chien (fried oyster) is delicious as well. Generous amount of oyster.

best fried Oyster Omelette i had in penang, the cendol was ordinary for me and the char koay teow is good. at the end i ordered 2 fried oyster omelette

Food is absolutely delicious. However, from my personal perspective, char kuey teow is a bit salty. The atmosphere is chill although many people are queuing. The workers is very nice, they will notice you and lead you to empty table. Overall its very systematic. The workers is also humourous and effective at the same time although is busy.

Very crowded coffee shop with lots of tourist. Most come here for their cendol which I think is ok but will not be willing to queue too long for it. There is a rather new “gado gado” stall and quite aggressive sales pushing it. We got a plate from RM10 and we took a few mouthful and all stopped eating it as can’t make out the taste and the ingredients were felt like it was randomly put together. The highlight was the oyster omelette. A good amount of egg with pulpy oysters. Satisfying.

The char kuey teow was good, but I was very disappointed by the portion size as it is half of what you would even get in KL for the same quality and price. I can say that this place is definitely overhyped despite offering nothing that's exceptional above other similar restaurants. It was also worth mentioning that finding a table here is somewhat of a mini challenge in itself but the stall owners were definitely attentive and efficient.

One stop restaurant for all the dishes you might want to try in Penang. From the famous cendol, to fried kway tiao, from assam laska to lor bak. This shop provides everything. And surprisingly, every dish turned out delicious except the fried oyster. That fried oyster was boring, you can skip ordering it. You should be able to get a table inside, the dishes were served quickly thus the high turnover rate. If you have a table, you don’t need to queue for in the sweltering heat for cendol, you can order it inside. Although seated, the restaurant lacks air ventilation, it can get pretty stuffy. The fried kway tiao is one of the better ones that we had in Penang.

Very packed and touristy. Food is meh. Oyster omelette not much taste and too wet. Too much flour, very little egg. Oyster size is okay, but there are much better oyster omelette in other random kopitiam I went to. RM16 for small and it's reallllly small. Char kuey teow beh jiak for the hype. I tried random kopitiam ckt also better than this. Very small portion for RM8.50. Chendol not much liau and not kau enough. Kopi ping is good. Ccf is also good. Overall food is really not worth the hype and it's expensive. Spend RM 40+ for food here.

Came mainly for the cendol which was excellent. Decided to try some small bites and ordered popiah, loh bak and fried chicken. Popiah was the worst I ever had as it was really soggy. So bad that we had 2 bites only. Loh bak was no better. The fried prawn fritter was too doughy. I guess it was undercooked. Fried chicken was tasteless too. Verdict: Just come for the cendol and save the stomach space for other delicious Penang food.

Fried koay teow was average standard. Too oily and lack of wok hei. On the other hand, ingredients was generous with 2 large prawn. At RM7 was value for money. 3 stars

Recommended to try the oyster omelette, while it iso ily, oysters were fresh and tastes amazing. The popiah is not good, do not try. Asam Laksa is okay.

Best cafe in Georgetown for fried oyster, char kuey teow, asam laksa & chendol. Just come here for all of this, no need to go else where, there’s also curry mee, rojak and jawa mee. Come back for 2 days for lunch, highly recommend this. Just be reminded that the seat is kinda limited so better to go early or after 4pm to avoid crowd.

Good choice of local food. Always super busy. Trying to find a table here you need to battle. Once get your table staffs from all stalls will come to you and get your order. Pay after they serve the food. Highly recommend the oyster omlet and laksa. Make sure you pack enough tissue with you as you will be all sweaty afterwards.

  • 3/5 David C. 4 years ago on Google
Not all foods are delicious. CKT, asam laksa(taste not too heavy) is the only must-try here. Curry noodle is terrible and dishonest lobak store trying to push me to take the combo instead of my choice. Prices are tourist-oriented and more expensive than in KL.

  • 4/5 Lee Joo Tatt H. 3 years ago on Google

Located where the Penang Road Famous Teo Chew Cendol at. Cendol was great as usual, but the laksa was bad. Tried the kopitiam’s oyster omelette stall (oh chien) it was not bad. Roti with Bakkua was not bad as well.
