To get to Komtar, from Penang Sentral by ferry and bus only rm2.80. You can get straight to Komtar. From the bus terminal, use an escalator to level 2. Then, get an elevator to level 6 to get to The Top.

Place to meet civil servants. Wish the shopping mall is better though, feels old and lack of any good shop. Heard it had a good old days but maybe that has passed long a ago. Sure wish there was more parking instead of 4 to 5 storey of reserved parking. Beware of the majlis guys if you ride a bike and park without think, you gonna get summon as fast as possible. Overall ok la. Never been to the Top or the dinasour thing so can't say for sure

Very famous building and iconic. The architecture is OK. Old building and shopping. Not fancy or elegant but Nostalgic and good for old buildings and memories lovers.

A modern and gorgeous building, but the inside is very disappointing. No clear direction guide, easily get lost. The shops are disorganized, spread everywhere with no focus, just like a local market, probably even worse than a local market that lacks variety. The science showing part is ok. The viewing towner is at 65F, so hard to find it the ticket booth; and hard to find elevator; and you have to wait after the elevator in a small dark space before showing the short tower video. The sight seeing is great. All need be better organized. Just cannot believe this is one of the city icon.

One of the best attraction in Penang. I spent a quality time with my family. Lots of activities for kids, babies and adults. Sky walk was awesome. You need a whole day to spend here. You can get food, drinks, snacks everything inside the place.

Glued on my seat, experiencing the magnificent view of Penang while having my local delight satay! Fond of memories when I step my foot on this beautiful island. Heaps of delicious local cuisines, which I just can't get enough of it! Penang ❤

Terrible white elephant. Practically a dead mall and creepy. Thousands of square feet of floorspace that is not used and not maintained. Truly a sad history attached to this monstrosity. 6 square city blocks (11 hectares) of housing was demolished for this monster, which is now deserted and wasted. Check out the history online if you are interested, it is truly saddening what the previous government did to the local people of George Town. With that said, please support these small businesses they are doing it really tough.

It is a nice location. Great that it is so close to all the other malls, centrally located in George Town. All the buses come through Komtar. Buses to and from Penang airport, charter services to Malaysian states and buses to Singapore, Thailand.

If you haven't been here then this place a place to visit. You can bring young kid to explore dinosaur, fishes and fruits. The top is main attraction where you can walk through a rainbow shape transparent glass. There are also amusement park for kids.

The highest building on the island. Landmark for Penang. It is a must visit place and also iconic for a photo moment from anywhere in the city. As long as you get the view. Take the nice shot and make it memorable.

State government should look at developing this iconic symbol of Penang. Very few shops and no attractions. Komtar is fighting to stay alive alone or maybe not fighting at all.

The building the entrance is easy access but there is a lot of parking car on the road and blocks the street and view and causes dangerous.

You can do almost anything there in Kontar. You can pay all the state government payment there. All the banks are there. Buy whatever you want there. The best place to be. All Penang bus services around the island stop there.

Surprisingly for someone who had never stepped foot into the tower (i.e. me), it had more attractions for kids than I first perceived. Tickets to the attractions are quite pricey individually, but it's more worth it to take a bundle of attractions together. Was able to take a few breathtaking pics from the top of the tower, especially a suitable angle for panoramic phototaking of the Penang island.

An icon for Penang Island. But due to the emergence of other shopping Malls and migration of the local Georgetown residents to other parts of the island, the role of a popular shopping spot has decreased over the years. It has maintained tourist attractions like The Top, Aquarium, Jurassic Park, Science Dome, etc. But there are many other big potentials for this iconic landscape of Penang. Hope the Penang Government will be able to revamp the place and make it attractive for the locals again.

A lot of the shops were closed down when we went there. Its too bad because i was hoping we could find some cheap souvenirs and bags lol. It was hot here, im not very impressed because i cannot stand humidity!

The main attraction in komtar tower is THE TOP. If you are coming to penang, should try to visit THE TOP KOMTAR. its an interesting place, up there you can experience sky walk, they also have restaurant up there. Very suitable if you want to bring your soul mate here. Its also interesting to bring your kids to the dinasour land, and they also have a lot of kid game that your kids can enjoy and they also have the aquarium on the lower level. Its interesting.

Whilst the entrance to the tourist attractions is modern and attractive the rest of the centre is getting more and more neglected with many empty shop units. If you enter Komtar via the link bridge from the adjacent mall (the bridge is only open on one of the two floors) you end up in a dark corridor which eventually leads to smart part of Komtar (quiet scary at night)

One stop place for assessment, quit rent, TNB, PBA payments. Food eateries are also within walking distance. 1st Avenue is just located next to Komtar.

  • 1/5 Eric S. 1 year ago on Google
Place feels deserted and tired. Feels like KOMTAR needs a complete makeover to survive, otherwise it is quickly spiralling into decay and disrepair. Felt unsafe walking around the mall without knowing what I'll encounter at the next corner. Kind of like a scene from zombie horror movie.

Going to Utc Komtar . Its a crowded place and little bit difficult to find parking . Plus the main areas are always packed . Inside building the direction are confusing and old . However inside utc has a lot of intertament places . Its was unexpected to see the old building has a lot of attraction especially the Top

Good ,it was a good feeling to have sone adventures on top of 65th floor ,I felt same happiness and thrill when i went to las vegas stratosphere on top rides, this komtar also gives me same thrill ,though adventures are costly ,150 ringets for full challenge of rides.

We visited the TOP ONE attractions and almost spent a day there. We bought our tickets on Klook (Cheaper) and collected the wrist band at the counter. We bought the 3 attractions bundle - Aquarium (Indoor), Jurassic and Skywalk (Outdoor). The kids prefer the bumper car (Kids version).

When I went there I was amazed at the transformation that the Penang State Government did on Kimtar. Now Komtar is no longer a dead place but there are lots of activities going on there.A blood donation drive was also held in front of the MPPP when I was there.

Please park at Prangin mall for a cheaper parking fee (rm2/rm3) for a whole day. If you park at Times Parking (right next to the entrance) it could be up to rm30, where the parking space is so small and the parking exit may be faulty but lack of help from the staff.

  • 2/5 Ikhwan N. 1 year ago on Google
This, along with Prangin mall are no longer my favourite place. Smelly parking area, smelly interior, Popular bookstore had closed down. It's pretty much dead like the ferries.
