I was wondering and enjoying the ancient architecture of George Town Penang Malaysia, seeking out delightful vegan treats and which cafes offer vegan options when I stumbled on The Pharm Hut. What a pleasant surprise, first and foremost the detail to a very high standard of cleanness, no dust at all, purest type hygiene standards, remarkable after all my years of being a digital nomad and visited so many cafes world wide, this one stood out right away on that level. I have to say, to receive such a sincere warm hearted welcome by the lady owner " Patie " opened me to feel relaxed and showed me her attention to personnel focused service. Patie then began to educate me on the benefits of Kefir , her own signature fermentation range, of handmade fermented drinks, most beneficial to ones health. I was kindly given a shot glass (* reminiscent of my youth, memories of those alcohol shots ;-). But these shots beneficial, tigglying to ones palate. One can slowly, taste the various fruits, the indulgent flavours, before your stomach begins to thank you for such a comforting drink. I have since become a regular and enjoy her hummus, various herbal sources, hand made peanut butter and her bread, oh wow, fresh and sugar free. Super awesome kefir drinks! Passion fruit and ginger flavors are my favorite! Very refreshing. Their nut butters and sauces are very wholesome, healthy, and delicious!

I just popped in to get a smoothie and ended up not only having a good healthy smoothie, but also trying the kefir soda and having a lovely conversation. Shop is cute. Smoothie was good. Owner is friendly.

Wide choices of variety for probiotics, kefir, yogurt and more. Loving their kefir yogurt with their homemade granola and also they have aged kefir sangria!!! Would definitely recommend to everyone!!

I really like this place, they do these great kefir smoothies (- such a nice, healthy way to start the day! ) Patti (the owner) is super friendly and accommodating and she made a bottle of fresh almond milk especially for us (which was delicious!) This is the only kefir yoghurt I've tried, creamy and smooth with the right amount of natural sweetness. The owner, Patie, is gracious and friendly. She explained Pharmhut kefir is made from kefir grain and not freeze dried kefir powder. why? Kefir grain contain many more probiotic strains, so better for our body. Must visit shop in Penang!! The moment step into the shop, just feel that every item sold is goodt quality stuff from the bread, handwAsh ,Kefir, hummus etc.....

We wouldn't have been able to survive this last year if it weren't for the Pharm Hut's fresh peanut butter, home baked bread and amazing kefirs! Kalamansi and lemongrass kefir are my favorite while my husband loves the passion fruit. But they're all wonderful and so refreshing, which is perfect for a hot Penang day...and well, let's be honest, there are quite a lot of hot days here! We always have so much fun chatting with the owner Patie and her daughter Nicole and can't wait until we can come spend more afternoons at their lovely shop again. Until then, thank goodness they're still doing deliveries and pickups!

One of the best hidden gem in Penang. Patie will go through and explain the process of kefir soda. Everything is handmade with lot of love and she has unique flavours that you can't find anywhere else.

Clean and cosy cafe that focuses on healthy AND delicious kefir drinks. The lady who served us was super friendly and we even got a mini kefir tasting! Bought 4 bottles and they were all delicious. Highly recommend if you want a refreshing and healthy drink on a hot day!

Absolutely loved this place! The owner is a sweetheart and super dedicated to her craft. She even made us some special nutmeg jam and gave us lots of kefir soda samples. When we left she gave us an orange (symbolizing gold) to celebrate Chinese new year. I got a strawberry smoothie and my friends got dragonflies smoothies with a kefir yogurt base. We also got almond butter on homemade toast. The atmosphere is cozy and calming. Can't recommend enough!!

A lovely place and a very chatty, knowledgeable, welcoming owner. Their kefir drinks are not like kombucha, much lighter and more fruity. Delicious! We bought their Kefir drinks but she also offered us a tasting of all the different Kefir drinks that are homemade and range from pineapple, to dragonfruit, ginger, passionfruit, and showed us how they are made!

Patty the owner of the place is lovely. All her products are organic and very fresh! Best Kaya toast with home made bread ever had in Malaysia and her water-based kéfir is amazing best ginger and passion fruit should be tried.

Great place to chill and recharge on a hot day. I stopped in for some tasty kefir soda, and stayed for the Tepache and conversation. The owner is super friendly and inspiring, and I ended up bringing a SCOBY home with me so I can try making my own Kefir :) She also gave us a bunch of samples so we could each buy the drink we liked most. Lovely cosy space selling kefir soda they make by themselves. Definitely worth a try! I personally love the aged passionfruit, then the nutmeg. Very friendly owner and staff :)

Such a lovely small shop to buy or drink some homemade kefir! We got to try the different flavours before deciding on a kefir soda. Also tried the Sangria and it was soooo good. The atmosphere, people working there and the drinks were all really lovely!! Highly recommend.

Great, fresh tasting almond butter each time we order. Reasonably priced - good value. Very nice people/service with delivery. Haven’t had a chance to visit the shop, but hope to soon.

The owner Patie goes above and beyond in customer service, organising same day delivery of her delicious kefir sodas when I cannot make it to the shop, always replying quickly even when very busy. The older the batch the less sweet they are, I often just have a small glass per day and feel great! Returning customer from day one.

The lovely folks behind The Pharm have that rare ability to capture the natural goodness of the freshest & finest raw ingredients, magnifying it, and then bottling it! Their water Kefirs are out of this world! My favourite is the nutmeg one, cos it's Penang in a bottle!

A lovely place and a lovely owner. When I went there for the first time she offered me a tasting of all the different Kefir drinks that are homemade and range from pineapple, to dragonfruit, ginger, passionfruit etc. I loved them all and came back every day for a refreshing and healthy Kefir. She also explains you how to make your own Kefir at home or while traveling and you can even buy the Kefir crystals to take them home.

The Pharm Hut makes the best kefir soda and yoghurt I've ever tasted! They take their kefir seriously and it shows in the quality of their products. Their homemade bread and kaya are also must-trys! It's hard for me to go a day without enjoying their kefir drinks. :)

Good place for kefir n kombucha

This George Town shop is best known for their Kefir sodas (the dragonfruit is the standout), but if you go to the shop you will see they have many other excellent creations. For retail products, they offer kefir milks, kefir yogurts, kefir sangria (our favorite for those who drink alcohol), nut butters and spreads, loaves of bread, house made soaps, and other healthy foods from local purveyors. For the cafe, they have an offering of healthy foods using made from scratch ingredients. Highly recommend this place to locals and visitors. The food is high quality and you will always be greeted with incredibly friendly service.

Best kefir in town. Great flavours and a lovely venue to hang out too. I love to buy the big glass bottles because I buy so much kefir for my family and take it home, but small individual servings are also available
