A delicious bowl of Hong Kong-style wonton mee I visited early in the morning at 7am, and ordered the dried wonton mee, served in a bowl, and came with a separate soup with three wontons. It was interesting to look at how Mr. Khoo cooked the noodles, a thinner version, adjusting the water temperature by switching between hot and cold water to reach its al dente texture. It’s then stirred into a mix of sauces (dark soy sauce and oil). There were crunchy pieces of pork lard. As opposed to the classic Penang wonton mee with dyed char siew, here we got caramelised char siew. The wonton filling was generous, with a good bite of fulfilling meat and shrimp flavour. There are options for pickled green chilli or sambal, or both. Mr. Khoo himself is quite a friendly chatterbox. You may find yourself amused with his stories and Chinese oldies covers. Wonton Mee Dried (standard) RM6.50

Wan tan mee was delicious. The sauce was special, sticky, and addictive. The sauce was distinctive, and no other wan tan mee close to this style. The noodle was bouncy. Wan tan was thin in skin, rich in fillings and full of flavour. 4 stars

Cheap and good wanton noodles. I like the wanton a lot. Full of meat and prawns inside. The fishball was also nice. Noodles wise texture was good but I personally don't like the sauce probably I am not a sauce type of person. Very friendly and nice owner.

It's a tasty soupy HK-style noodle. When you bite into the noodle, it springs back, and the mushrooms gravy smooths it out. Wan tan is a large one with a lot of meat inside. I like the texture of their handmade fish ball. Staff was extremely friendly, even offering to refill soup (this is not available elsewhere; it is an additional cost for them). The only drawback is that the seasoning could be improved. 色香味俱全 (color, aroma, and taste), but the dish is lack of aroma aspect. Nonetheless, this is a location I will return.

A different rendition of wantan mee that sticks out like its sweet caramelised gravy over al-dente noodles. You won't find the typical red dyed charsiew common in Penang, instead a few caramelised slices in a sweet savoury dark mushroom sauce. The noodles rest gently over pork lardoes that elevate the dish to gastronomical delight. The wantons had a firm porky bite but with little shrimp. Not surprisingly, RM6.50 a bowl is a bargain. The shrimp is found only in the suikow dumpling add-on.

Really good wanton mee! Every bite of the fried wanton was a delight. The soup broth is different from the usual MSG laden soup we get sometimes - must try! Highly recommend if you are in Penang. Will be back :) Oh yes - Uncle is friendly and passionate about his craft!

[ok la] 1) Overall - Chinese wan tan mee shop, limited seating and somewhat difficult to find parking, friendly services, food selection are mushroom wan tan mee, pork and prawn dumplings, fish ball, fried wonton and more from 高佬云吞面 Kow Low WanTanMee 2) char siew wan tan mee - al dente noodle, good texture and cooked perfectly, a little highlight of the noodle was the mushroom sauce top to the noodle, was a little starchy for our liking 3) wan ton - tasted good

Ye olde wanton mee shop with 🐔 feet! No aircon but plenty of character. Noodles has good bite and the dumplings have excellent mouthfeel. Pleasant for kopitiam staff, although not much variety in menu. Pricing is around RM9 for wanton mee and a drink. Serving speed is moderate and the place is has limited seating, but the toilet is not a terrible hole in the floor, which is a nice touch. Cash only and parking is tricky, but overall a decent noodle experience.

Lovely local experience in a traditional setting. Staff were very patient and friendly, even told me that I only needed to pay after I was done with my meal! Noodles came quickly even though there were a number of people that ordered before me and the meal was delicious. Springy noodles with tender slices of char siew (roast pork) and 3 shrimp wantons (dumplings) in a tasty soup.

I have had been following this wanton noodle store from its previous location at Kampong Malabar Street to its present location at Carnarvon Street. The food is very tasty. The noodle is self-kneaded. A gem these days. Inside each bowl, there are 3 big wanton dumplings, 4-5 thick slices of char siew, and 3 generous slices of mushroom. This cost MYR6.50 a bowl. A value of money. Will definitely return to makan next time.

very soupy style of wanton mee i shall say. There is so much sauce it's as if i am eating soup noodles. Taste is ok. Not too salty but got flavour. Charsiew was too little for medium portion though. The wanton is very plump and juicy. Taste very good too.

Fantastic noodles texture and huge wontons with prawns mix pork. Tea made to perfection. Strong builder tea. Very impressive!

Extremely bouncy noodle texture with the right proportion of braised sauce showered on. This wanton mee is no doubt one of the best or might be the best I ever had! It taste even better than the best JB wanton mee. The roasted pork and wanton have multi dimension taste.

CLOSE on Monday, sometimes. The best Wantan Mee in town. Springy Hongkong noodle style with black sauce (dry) or soup.

I came here for the first time for lunch. It is quite a famous joint for Hong Kong style wantan mee, springy noodles, fairly al Dante. The wantan mee came with a mushroom chicken starchy sauce, it wasn't as aromatic as I expected. Pork lard fragrance was not strong enough. The wanton on the other hand was very nice, very generous with the meat fillings, and the wanton skin is thin. 10/10 for the wanton. The soup that came with it was great as well. It has radish and fried sotong smell, savory and flavourful. The shop is short staffed. The uncle takes order of food and beverages, cooking of noodles, plating as well as serving. Despite being so busy, he is a very patient man with a very nice attitude, soft spoken and very polite. (His face may look like he is angry at times but seriously, he is such a nice person). Waiting time was moderate during peak hours. We waited almost 25 minutes (when the take away orders were a lot). Ventilation is fair. Not very humid and sweaty. Price is reasonable. Rm7 for a normal size wantan mee. Parking is difficult during peak hours.

Probably the BEST wantan mee in Georgetown. Plump delicious dumplings, bursting with prawn and pork meat. Thin tasty noodles, HK style. Friendly owner. Just tell him you know Kelvin, the long-haired foodie!

Excellent authentic wan tan mee and pork dumplings soup (not sure what to call that). Juice was too watered down though.

Both the fried and boiled wanton were very juicy and full of liaos with pork and prawn (unlike most places with negligible filling). You can actually see the prawn in the wanton. Gave 4 stars cause I am not really a fan of the texture of the noodles (on the soggy side). But overall still a good meal.

Springy noodles tossed in delicious soy sauce. I like how the noodles are cooked to perfection. The chicken broth soup wan tan and the deep fried wan tan is deliciously juicy too! Not a Wan Tan Mee noodle fan but this place has converted me 😍

😠 I reached at around 2:30pm and still need to queue till 3:00 pm. Disappointed with the food because the deep fried fish roe and fish are hard rather than crispy. The gravy is also so so only.

👍 Queue seemed quite long when we arrived around 2.30 pm but we only waited about 20 minutes. I think they should have more signage to tell customers what to do so the process can be easier. There was only one waiter upstairs in the seating area so it was quite difficult to get his attention. Food is...
