Restaurant Indian restaurant

🫤 The shop is clean is all I would say. In terms of food, I was not satisfied. Coffee was served in a small mug but charges were equavelent to a big glass. I ordered thosai ghee and I requested for sugar to be sprinkled on it. I ended up having two table spoon of sugar on my thosai. Food is just so so... A good place to get delicious authentic Indian cuisine. The food portions are big so it is advisable to share the food. The mutton and chicken briyani are fragrant and the Manchurian chicken is also flavoursome though a little spicy ( for me atleast). Prices are reasonable and the place is clean. Definitely will be coming back for more.

Its one of the few shops opened at 830am. But if you can wait do walk around thr area and wait for other shop openings

Quality of food is seriously BAD with CHEAP ingredients for the menu price. Ordered vegetarian briyani, which was more of a Chinese fried rice with cheap mixed vegetables (photo attached), which put off my appetite. The Singapore fried bee hoon was so GREASY and nauseating as well. There are better quality food and service at other Indian restaurants within the same radius. So, I recommend you don't bother to step into Chettiar`s Tiffin Cafe if you're looking for a good meal with good service.

The place was comfy and clean. The food was also tasty. Just that the service is a bit slow probably due to lack of staffs. Other than that, all is good.

I personally really liked the food here. Packed with lots of flavour, although it's a little too salty. For Indian food, the price is moderate, not too expensive.

The workers are from India and they speak and act very rudely to us locals. Especially that guy in the cashier. The boss should take action or atleast call and warn the workers. If this persist then i have nothing else to say rather than going to other shops. Food also not to say very fantastic!! Hope they change their unpleasant behaviour

The customer service guy is rude they way he act is as though the customer owe to the restaurant. This need to be improved. We are supposed to have lunch but end up only by having some drinks. The customer does not lose but eventually the restaurant does. The customer service first impression is vital !

A great place for breakfast. Came over to this place three times throughout our stay in Penang Items comes in set format and sufficient for one person A good choice of breakfast items Service needs improving as well as smiles from waiters to cashier. Otherwise a very cosy place

This place is a hidden gem. Service here is amazing, staff attends to you really quickly with a smiley attitude. They are also patient when ordering, and do giv3 nice recommendations. The food is also amazing. Roti and dosai are crispy and NOT OILY. The curries are also flavorful and not oily, I’ve been to a lot of Indian shops and this is really top especially in Penang! They do serve their drinks in dual cups and I think it’s for hygiene purposes. Some customers also ‘Tarik’ their teh with it. You can see lots of locals here too! Highly recommended :)

Less customers but nobody to approach us for an order. Waited long. Food was so so only. Went in the morning but most of the food finished. Not a good option for breakfast. Reluctant to give additional curries ( chicken/fish) for poori. Poor service.

The food is so over rated. Honestly there are certain other better options to explore in. Definitely is not recommendable. The services are very bad, the waiters are so rude as well. Somebody has to teach them manners. In a nutshell, do not waste your money there

I decided to come here after sitting at Ananda Bawan further down the street at the corner for 5 minutes amidst the crowd and wait staff ignoring me, i decided walk out and came into Chettiar's more welcoming environment. Not only was Chettiar's Tiffin Cafe welcoming, the customers there seemed smiley in general and smiled at each other. I had ordered the South Indian Combo (1x Paratha, 1x Idly, 1x Dosai at RM4.50 ) the flavours of all these staples were so good that i ordered a Ghee Dosai (RM3.50) after that. The Masala Tea was also lightly balanced. Good for those who can't take too much spice in their tea. The restaurant was tastefully decorated and lit, with aircon and outside areas. Music is tastefully chosen, light contemporary Tamil and Hindi songs. The furnishing was surprising with marble tables and classic heavy wood chairs with etching. I really enjoyed my visit here. Highly recommended!

Waatttt a ambience, perfect with Indian touch. First I ordered poori, after receiving I thought is it a baby breakfast, hehehe. Too smooth to handle the poori's and Curry is oily but tasty. Later ordered kallu Dosa, too soft like a Dosa in home. Sambar was yummyy n finger licking taste. Last but not least it's a BRU Coffee, Speech less😍🤩🤓😎🥳

After having tried many differed Masala Dosa in Penang, this came out firmly on top. Crispy, good dosa. Amazing sambar and chutney. Friendly service and very good price. Do yourself a favour and head here for Dosa.

We walked in to this restaurant randomly after most nearby famous restaurant are fully occupied. I must say the service is very good, staffs are friendly and attentive. On the food I'm amazed seriously. Took chapati set, vadai and Indian coffee. The chapati is super soft and smells heaven. The vadai as well spongy and super soft. The condiments and curries are so flavourful as well. Truly enjoyed our food and not regret for not able to drop by earlier planned restaurant. On the price wise very reasonable I would say with the quality food. Overall a hidden gem in little India penang.

Enjoyed breakfast here very much. Chappathi with mutton masala was delicious. Likewise the vadai and accompanying condiments. Was a little disappointed with the tea which came in a smallish stainless steel cup, ordered teh tarik but was served without the addition of condensed milk as is customary. The waiter had what appeared to be a grumpy face, but when asked about our meal he was quite friendly & helpful. I'm looking forward to returning here soon for breakfast again.

Indian restaurant open early at 8.30am. A bit expensive but the food tastes good.

Consistently delicious, so i don't understand why people give negative reviews. Our usual orders are: onion uttapam plate, and chicken masala with chapati. Both available for breakfast and dinner hours, only. Have tried the banana leaf and it's delicious , only problem is that it may be too small if you have large appetite.

This place has delicious food but the service is always disappointing. The service crew is very noisy while clearing a table. I have worked in fnb line from clearing table to cashering and almost every possible work in a restaurant. They are not systematic plus they attend to customer after at least 5 min sitting. Their crew isn't ready to listen to customer's review or suggestion and they are rude about it.

Ordered grab food from this restaurant yesterday and had the worst experience ever. After waiting for more than an hour, the order was still in kitchen and the delivery time kept getting later and later. In between this, I called the rider and I didn’t get any reply and he didn’t pick up when I called him. Later the rider got changed to another person. So I contacted grab and cancelled the order because I couldn’t wait any longer. Right after that, a man from this restaurant called me and scolded me for cancelling the order after the food is prepared and accused me for not being patient. He also said that I only waited for 30 mins. A very bad experience as I waited so long for my food, didn’t get any food in the end and got scolded by the restaurant.

We had veg and non veg meals at this place. The sambar and chicken were best part of the meals. Rest of them tasted normal. Buttermilk was tasty, with slight tinge of ginger flavour. Compared to Nasi Kandar’s this place offered less variety and slightly costlier. Second visit update : we ate Chapati with chicken podimass and dosa with chicken kheema. Podimass and kheema chicken are same and it tasted delicious. The small chunks of chicken was cooked and gravy around it was so flavoured with all Indian spices. Third visit update: this time we had vegetable biryani and kokkum chicken dry . Kokkum chicken dry taste like chicken Manchuria, not sure what kokkum chicken dry should really taste like. Both tasted good. We went during lunch time on a Saturday afternoon, and still not much crowd.

👍 Queue seemed quite long when we arrived around 2.30 pm but we only waited about 20 minutes. I think they should have more signage to tell customers what to do so the process can be easier. There was only one waiter upstairs in the seating area so it was quite difficult to get his attention. Food is...
