A nice Malay restaurant with great ambience and great dining experience. I came here together with my colleagues since we always visit the cafe nearby, so decided to pay a visit. It seemed expensive based on the pictures shown on google map and review. Nevertheless, I would say that the price is reasonable and the taste of food are very flavourful and nice. Even when we ordered plain water, it came with Pandan flavour too. Their service is quite good too. Would strongly recommend for those who have friends from other countries to visit this place and I’m sure that they would like the experiences here.

I had a wonderful experience dining here at Irima. Upon entering, we were greeted by a stunning dining area with proper plating and set up. The service was impeccable and the food were amazing. This is probably the best Malay restaurant I had in a long time. The one thing I highly recommend is their Satay. Bring your family and the love ones here, and have a wonderful evening here.

This was the best meal we had in our trip to Penang! The food here is really delicious, and one of my favourites is the Kerabu Kacang Botol Sotong (the dish with the small squid and assorted spices and four-angled beans). Also really liked the nasi ulam! Will definitely come back again the next time I visit Penang again :) Prices are a bit higher but the quality of food is just 🥰

Impeccable Malay fine dining. Irama serves simple but incredibly sophisticated Malay food in a beautiful & elegant setting. I’ve never experienced Malay food like this- from the beautiful batik table runners to the gorgeous mural, the dark wood, and the balcony view of the sea, it feels like they’ve mastered & honored the elevation of Malaysian cooking. The service is also good- friendly, efficient, and well mannered. The dishes are delicious, very fresh, and authentic- fragrant whole spices, clean, and local favorites with local ingredients. Everything is beautifully plated without being pretentious or disingenuous. They also have vegetarian items! A huge plus for travelers struggling to find food in Penang. Definitely save room for their Bubur SumSum dessert- creamy, not too sweet, melt in your mouth and so simple. I’ve come several times just for that! If you’re a westerner looking to experience Malay culture, or a local wanting a lovely night out, come here for a solo moment, romantic date, or family dinner- you won’t regret it.

Every small details here just wonderful. Even cold water they serve was infused with pandan leaf to give fragrance. Nasi beringin itself so fragrance and delicious. To be pair with other protein dishes just perfect! Nice ambient, delicious food, great hospitality, beautiful plating, sturdy quality cutlery. As malay, I would rate food here 9/10. From all our dishes we ordered, my fav was nasi beringin, ayam percik, kerabu sotong and cicah air asam. They're very generous with ingredients which make the food taste good. Another thing I notice is that most of dish here taste slightly not salty enough like usual malay food but it is great for health! This restaurant is a local owned as there's MARA certificate of achievement in their cupboard.

The food was awesome and i had a wonderful experience there. It's pretty hot sitting outside but the sunset view was nice (btw, it's loud coz of the birds/gagak/crows). Overall, i enjoyed the otak-otak as it is totally different!

update 09JUL22: Managed to get thru to the staff and booked a table for team dinner. Ordered for main meal: grilled whole fish, kerutup chicken, corn fritter, stir fry vegetables, kerabu platters, various types of rice preparation; for desserts, serawa pisang. They are quite creative with the drinks preparation. One of it, lemongrass pandan mint, was quite refreshing. The concensus of the team is that the dishes are all excellent, not too spicy, not too salty. The ulam preparation is without salted fish, the herbs tasted fresh. The sauce for the grilled fish was slightly watery to our preference but taste wise ok. Price is on the high side but the ambience sufficiently made up for it . Note there seems to be adjustment of price wrt to a June session.

Good place for authentic Malay cuisine. The taste is great and service is excellent. Price is at slightly high side, but with the taste, service and cozy environment, it is worth of the value of money paid. We have a family gathering, and the service crew spare us the private corner, which is very thoughtful and warming. Will recommend to pay a visit for great Malay food with cozy environment.

What an amazing experience! Start with the lovely Malay women portrait on the feature wall. The beautiful chandelier lights and the batik tablecloth. Staffs are friendly and the view toward the padang kota lama in Georgetown married with the sea and showings off the beautiful Penang Sunset. Congratulations to the chef food design and creativeness. All foods and drinks we ordered are amazing. The drink including lemongrass and pandan drink. The entree with ota-ota and kalabu (3 flavous). Fried corn patties with rajak source also yummy. The mains are lamb shanks, mixed vegetables and Ikan Baker. Unfortunately most yummy desert either sold out or not available. Ended up we both had lychee drinks with Bandung. Overall a wonderful experience and sure this won't be our only visit. Many thanks again for the unique finner experience in the heritage Georgetown Penang.

Nice place for dinner. Spacious and food is good. Price fits the portions serve. They have private room for dining up to 12 persons. My favourite was the cucur jagung. Parking - along the streets. Best to go non peak hours if you’re driving. Or perhaps park further and walk. There is elevator to the 2nd floor where the restaurant is. The outdoor seating is pretty cool on a cloudy day as it’s facing the esplanade. I would bring guests for dinner here to experience traditional Malay cuisine.

We were lucky to get a seat for two very last minute. This is a restaurant you will missed if you are not looking as it is at 2nd floor. We just happened to be in the neighbourhood and decided to rely on Google Map to find us good food. What a pleasant surprise to find this classic Malays cuisine, the palette is well balanced, plating is beautiful, service is top notched and price reasonable for such a setting. We enjoyed it so much and definitely will come back for more !

The blend of spices enhances the taste of the food and savory recipes. The beautifully plated dish is ready to be captured at any time. Kerabu and otak are my favorite. Prices are reasonable.

Some good vegetarian options. Lontong was amazingly rich and creamy. Nasi Ulam was the tastiest i have had. Bubur sumsum was mindblowing, close to tafufah texture, but made entirely differently.

This is probably one of the best place i have been to for Halal food. Love their service and their food is exceptionally good! However, I would wish that they have more on their menu. Nevertheless, I am definitely recommending this place to others and would revisit again!

Thank u for accommodating us 4 diners. Last minute reservations. The restaurant on the 2nd floor. Lovely decorated with Malay influences, the mural painting was amazing, staff were friendly and attentive and food were served quick presentable and delicious too. Look at pictures… oh and also the background music was delightful. Downside is I was hoping to hv Malay dessert but there’s none except the fried banana drowned in cream and ice cream. It’s a no no.

Lovely place with great ambience and attentive staffs. Been looking for some nice Malay food and I stumble upon this hidden gem. Food was excellent and my favourite was the dessert. Do leave some stomach space for dessert. Their Churros is a must have. Wait till you try it, it will leave you wanting more 😋

I actually want to book Tamara by Irama but since it was fully booked, I was instead referred here. And it certainly did not disappoint. Irama Dining serves you Malaysian Fusion food. I find the food quality the same as Tamara and also the ambience and deco is very nice as well. I always love a place with a bit of nostalgic/classic feel and this place fits the bill. I can say almost all the food taste great. My family particularly love the otak otak and we ordered 2nd serving. The rest of the food like cucur jagung, chicken (we ordered two types except rempah one), udang petai, tauhu bakar, pandan chicken, kerabu mango and two types of rice (blue one and a other is yellow color). Food presentation is very nice and the taste is great as well. Parking can be a bit challenging but we got lucky as there is empty road side parking spots just in front of the shop. Suggest that you call to make reservation as the shop is not really that big compare to Tamara. Definitely 5 stars.

This is an amazing place hidden in plain sight. Visited this place with my colleague spent over 2 hrs to dine in. The place is packed with plenty of room to move around, it just that during our visit there is an ongoing mini company Christmas event. There foods were great but the service could be better, there are times the server threw temper during ordering. It could have been 5 stars. There are rooms to improve still.

The restaurant serves authentic Malay cuisine. Overall the food is delicious and authentic except the Ikan Bakar was a little disappointment (not ‘Bakar’ enough). There’s a Fusion menu for who are less adventurous ;) Our favourites are Nasi Beringin/ Ulam (very good) Cucur Jagung, Kurma Lamb Shank, Kerabu (Kacang Botol / Paku) & Sambal Petai! Staff are warm and their service is good. The view at the balcony overlooking esplanade (Padang Kota Lama) is rare sight to behold. Perfect for a small family dinner, it has also private room. Wheelchair accessible. This is definitely the perfect place for the authentic Malay cuisine with a good dining vibe. The price is fairly reasonable for the authentic Malay cuisine in such a cozy dining setting in the heart of Penang!

Located on the first floor of the Chinese Chamber Building. The dining hall is huge and well designed. Malay music was on play. Ordered Lamb Shank with fragrant rice. The lamb was tender and delicious. We had mint ice tea and it was refreshing. Overall, i would come again.

Amazing vibes, service, and food! Environment was pristine and welcoming, waiters were patient, hospitable, and good at recommending dishes to our liking. Food served fast and most importantly delicious with plenty of varieties. If you come here, definitely try the Ayam Percik, Lamb Shank Kurma, Ikan Bakar and for drinks, get the nutmeg juice - refreshing and soothing to the soul.

First, I cannot claim I am a Malays cuisine expert, but as a Malaysian, I am overall loving every dishes that we ordered. The layer of their foods are rich and balanced. The vegetables are cutting properly. Sambal tastes it's riches. Desert is wow and it is not what it looked. We will come back with friends. If I want to be critical, I hope their rice texture can be better. The rice texture is a bit soft. However, it had flavor and you can eat it alone. Will come back for their sambal.

Delicious food, friendly service, lovely clean and colorful interior environment with comfortable seating. Large and diverse selection of food -great way to experience fine dining of Malay food. Only improvement could be the toilet as only one female restroom and door lock doesn’t work, also need soap at sink.

Made a reservation to have Christmas lunch with my family here. Overall food was alright. Nothing to shout about. Some hit and misses. The biggest miss was the kerabu kacang botol, it was overly sweet! The best dish was the grilled fish, came with 3 pieces. The sambal sotong was also flavorful, very fresh. Enjoyed the serawa pisang dessert as well as the pandan drink. Very nice and cosy place. Pretty too!

Awesome Malay cuisine and friendly staff . Food was really good and tasty. The only down side maybe is there's nothing for kids to eat almost everything is spicy but overall ok.

I had a mixed experience dining here. Pros: The decor is beautiful, plating is unique. Satay was legit, so juicy and tender. Cons: Other dishes were honestly rather mediocre. They weren’t bad by any means, but not fantastic either. Chicken was kinda tough, stir fried vegetables had barely any flavour to it, and every single dish was spicy despite triple confirming with the service staff that they were not, as there was a young child at our table who could not take spicy food. Oh well.

This place is just AMAZING. The food, the ambience, the staff, the services, everything. The prices were so reasonable for the portions and we even had a free flow of the pandan-infused iced water. They've put so much thought into each recipe and they were cooked to perfection. Easily one of my best experiences.

Absolutely delicious traditional cuisine. The service is a very friendly and the decor around the restaurant is beautiful. The food is really the winner here though. Every dish we chose was delicious and we’ll definitely be back. Note: alcohol isn’t served but that isn’t an issue when the food is this good. Don’t miss this if you’re visiting Penang.
