👍👍 The best BBQ place in Penang & I dare say better than even places like Beard Brothers in KL. Got the triple meat set (pulled pork, ribs, chicken with ample sides) and at RM35, it is not just value for money but worth every bite because the meat is cooked to tender perfection and the flavourful sauce... People often mention pork, good, pulled, ribs, meat, tender, mashed, great, brisket, taste,

The best BBQ place in Penang & I dare say better than even places like Beard Brothers in KL. Got the triple meat set (pulled pork, ribs, chicken with ample sides) and at RM35, it is not just value for money but worth every bite because the meat is cooked to tender perfection and the flavourful sauce went really well with it. Definitely lives up to its slow and low motto, Smoke Papa’s is a must try for all meat lovers, I for one tasted some smoky nuttiness in the pulled pork which you can only get when you roast it with some quality woodfire. Mashed potatoes and homemade muffins deserved a mention as well.

Best in Penang. We went there to celebrate my father's birthday and were greeted with excellent service from Jen (thank you! ) We had the Dino Beef Ribs, and they practically melt in your mouth! We also ordered the "Double Hog" and "Oink Oink" platters to share, and they were wonderful! We finished off our meal with Kefir fruit juices and desserts; Key lime pie and chocolate mouse. Overall, it was a great experience. While it is understandably on the pricey side, the food and atmosphere are well worth for a special occasion or even a casual meal. I recommend this place and would definitely return.

Took the brisket set and the smoked chicken set and added an order of cheezy fries. Brisket and chicken were excellent. Coleslaw, mashed potatoes, and corn bread were good as well. There are also ribs and pulled pork available. Leave some room in your stomach as they have a good selection of desserts as well. Came on a Friday evening. Tables were nearly full, but we managed to get a table. Service was pretty fast, and food was on the table in less than 15 minutes. Prices are reasonable.. mid range. Parking is a challenge in this area. You will need to hunt, and there are a few public parking lots around.

This place is underrated! We found this place by chance and glad that we did. Pork ribs are excellent; juicy and flavourful, fall off the bone goodness. Mashed potato could use a little more improvement; it was lumpy and runnier than I would’ve normally expected from a mashed potato. Their homemade sauce was legit good, a must try. Lamb tacos was superb; flavor was on point. However, the fries that came with the tacos were overcooked which could’ve been better. And the prices are reasonable with the portion. Overall, good place with good foods, will come again!

Update: they moved into their own space nearby. And they are adding BBQ sauces. Good and great everything here. I had ribs and pulled pork this time. On top of it all they had great rolls and mashed potatoes. Meet Hong and Jen the owners.

Local take and adaptation of Texas style bbq in the heart of Penang. Welcomed warmly by Jen and she walked through their menu and specials with us. Ordered their super platter (pulled pork, pork ribs, chicken with sides- mash potato, butter rice, corn muffin, bread and salad) RM 30 per platter. Juicy, tender meat paired with their homemade sauces elevate the taste that lingers in your mouth. Lamb shoulder (250g) RM25 paired with yogurt mint sauce is one of the highlight as well. Pork ribs platter RM20 You may call the number stated to pre-order and do ask for their weekly specials as it changes.

Our first time visiting this place, we were lucky to have a table available for 5pax. Wide variety of choices on the menu with specials of the day. We ordered Moo & Roost, Double Hog, Coleslaw and their special drinks of the day Matcha Coconut. Brisket and chicken were juicy and succulent, especially brisket which was very flavourful. Similar to pulled pork and ribs which were quite tender. Do remember to pair with the hot sauce in you bbq too! The overall experience and food were awesome and we would be back again!

Smoked BBQ meats on platter that is so delish. Delivery food by online. First attempt and love it. Very recommended! 🔷 Foursome Platter; Black Angus Beef, Pork Belly, Ribs, Chicken, Mac n Cheese, FF, Coleslaw & Mashed Potatoes. Succulent meat, smokiness so tasty! And all good taste. FF is crispy and yum, come right with some tasty sauces too. A Must try. 🔷 Slider w/ Pulled Pork and Salad; so good, can’t get enough, delicious pieces.

Had an early lunch today here and absolutely enjoyed our time there! To the little boy and the lady boss that served us, thank you so much for the great hospitality! Now, as for the food. I highly recommend everyone who's looking through the Google reviews section of this place to GO AND TRY IT! My partner and I ordered the Babi Moo platter that was only available of the weekend but the lady boss was so kind to accommodate our order as we really wanna try the brisket. But sadly they didn't have enough for our order so they changed it to lamb for us instead. And my husband absolutely loved it. It was super tender and had almost no gaminess. The crust on the pork rib was so fragrant and smoky, and paired with their BBQ sauce, is chef's kiss. Not to forget the sides that come with each platter. All were tasty and the Mac and cheese was so unique. My favourite has got to be the cornbread, slightly sweet and butterry, it almost taste like a dessert. And don't sleep on the pulled pork sliders. The brioche bun was sweet and perfectly toasted so it was slight crispy, paired with the tender pulled pork, cabbage and onion slices as well as the cheese sauce. The both of us downed these sliders in less than 5 minutes. It was so good! Didn't have the stomach to try their desserts cause the both of us can only eat so much but the way the lady boss tealked about them made us look forward to trying them on our next visit. I can't recommend this place enough and I'm so excited to be back soon to try more items on their menu.

We had the pulled pork set and double hog set. The pork is cooked to perfection with a 5-7hr smoke cooking style with firewood according to the boss. We will definitely recommend to friends and come back again to try out other menu and a few dessert options, vietnamese coffee which we don't have room for 😊Service was excellent too.

This place has become so popular within a couple of months, when we went on a Saturday evening a lot of people were queuing for a table. We too decided to wait and it was absolutely worth it. I had the best and most tender beef brisket ever, it melts in your mouth. My friend had pulled pork. They smoke the meat for 8-12 hours which is a labor intensive process because somebody has to take care of the temperature all the time. But the result is spectacular. The smokey taste and the soft meat is something really special. The set menu comes with mashed potatoes, coleslaw and bread, all good quality home made. After only one visit this has become my favorite meat restaurant and I will definitely go again.

Delicious bbq. Definately need to visit here if craving for American style bbq. Ribs and Briskets are juicy and tender. All sides and dessert are delicious. Cheese fries so overloaded. Salted cream coffee is good. Friendly service and affordable menu.

Starting out as a stall in The Jetty Food Court, this homegrown restaurant has found a spanking new and more expansive home a couple of streets away along Bishop Street. As it’s name suggests, the establishment serves up a wide selection of barbecued meats as well as homemade cakes and desserts. One of four platters on the menu, the 𝗢𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗢𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗸 features a variety of meats including tender strips of pulled pork, fall-off-the-bone pork ribs and a juicy chicken leg. The sides are also much to commend for; from the creamy mashed potatoes and fresh coleslaw salad to the toasted yet soft cornbread and soft rolls, not to forget the smokey and buttery mix of macaroni and cheese. Overall, each item on the platter boasts a unique flavour and texture and well portioned for sharing.

Best BBQ in town - we had the pork ribs, beef brisket and lamb shoulder. Everything was on point in terms of texture and flavor. Their home made BBQ sauce perfected everything and the mashed potatoes are one of the best I have ever had. Don’t forget to order dessert. We had key lime and mud pie and they were amazing! Owner is super friendly and accommodating with your requests.

A Keto friendly place but not their BBQ, that’s a heads up cause BBQ sauce needs sugar. All the protein they serve are really tender and flavorful with the complimentary side, you could make yourself a mini burger from ordering the platter. I really can’t get enough of their homemade coleslaw they are refreshing to me in a way, also they serve homemade pickle on sides of bbq pork ribs, it helps to soften down the taste. Mississippi Mud pie, a rare dessert to see in local restaurants that I really had to get a bite of, they use dark chocolate for this so it’s not sweet but not too bitter as well. The boss is really nice we chat a little and they are welcome with customers feedback.

Walked in on Saturday night. Thankfully was able to get a table after 20 mins wait without reservation (good to reserve for peak dining hours). Ordered the Babi moo platter for 2 pax to share - which included the beef brisket, pork ribs, sides (mashed potato, coleslaw, Mac n cheese), bread roll, corn bread and pickled cucumber & carrots. The beef brisket and pork ribs were well marinated however the doneness a tad over hence slightly dry. Sides were great, love the chunky texture of mash potato. Ordered a serving of their homemade sausages, unfortunately over cooked hence texture was dry. Flavour was good though. Food was good for 2 pax. Service was excellent - attentive and friendly!

Succulent melt-in-your-mouth pork bbq! The ribs and pulled pork set comes with sides of creamy goodness mashed potato, mac and cheese, coleslaw (really good one!), dinner rolls, and cornbread. Hong and Jen, owners of the place, are friendly and very welcoming. Have to come back to try the other meats and their keto friendly dessert.

We were there on weekend 5pm evening but we are not allowed to enter as most of the tables are reserved for their customer. We were asked if we can finished within 1.5hr. Advise to call for reservation if you don’t want rush to finish your meal. Food is so so, not special on my personal opinion and think its over rated.

The place looks simple, not so fancy as compared to others shop, however the BBQ pork meats are really delicious. A jig of beer cost RM64, perfect companion for the BBQ platter.

Super friendly owners and great food. We ordered the pulled pork burger set, crackling pork set, hangry mashed pork patty burger set and pork ribs set. Everything was delicious, including the sides such as fries, coleslaw and mashed potatoes. The desserts passion fruit panna cotta and banana pudding were nice too. They even gave us a complimentary Mississippi mud pie for my friend’s birthday. Super friendly owners and great service. Highly recommended and will come back again.

Excellent downtown BBQ cafe on Lebih Bishop. The pulled pork set was great as were the pork ribs and crackling pork belly. The coleslaw and mashed potatoes were also very good. A great place for Lunch or Dinner. A reservation would be best for dining at the weekend.

[got event ah?] 1) Overall - BBQ restaurant, friendly and attentive services, plenty of seating but limited parking capacity, great quality of food, value for money, food selection are pulled pork, pork ribs, lamb, mashed potatoes, chicken, brisket, smoked meat, coleslaw, muffins, pasta and many more from SmokePapa BBQ 2) smoked beef ragu pasta - so good, so flavourful, smoky taste, tender meat, soft pasta, shredded cheese, mix it all and taste it, highly recommended 3) smoked pork cracking platter (pulled pork, smoked pork cracking, creamy mashed potato, coleslaw, mac & cheese, cornbread, soft rolls) - pulled pork - tender meat, nicely shredded and seasoned, tasted good with the soft roll smoked pork cracking - melting in your mouth fat with crispy cracking skin, tasted good - creamy mashed potato - as per named, super creamy and still has the chuck of potatoes in it, tasted awesome - coleslaw - freshly cut and lightly seasoned with mayo, refreshing - mac&cheese - perfectly cooked mac&cheese, well seasoned too, loved it - cornbread - tiny but tasted good, has a lot of corns in it - softroll - sweet and soft, great pair with almost everything 4) banana pudding - layer of fluffy cream and mushy mashed banana, top with roasted almond flakes, tasted good, perfect way to end the meal 5) calamansi kefir - great option to clean the palate of having a feast, not as sour as it may sound

I've heard people raving about the BBQ meat from this place when they were still operating out of The Jetty Food Court, but it took me awhile to finally get my chance to try it after they've moved to a nice, heritage building on Bishop Street. Suffice to say, I regret not coming much sooner. We ordered the Babi Moo and Lamb Shoulder weekend sets which allowed us to try their pork ribs, beef brisket, and lamb shoulder. I was very impressed with how smoky, tender and juicy all of them were. The pork ribs were fall-off-the-bones tender with a nice layer of BBQ sauce that's not overly sweet, and the brisket was smokey and moist. The lamb shoulder was also nicely smoked, and did not have any gamey smell typically associated with lamb. Although I personally like my lamb to still retain that aroma, this is a must try for those who don't typically consume lamb due to the smell. The sets also came with sides of coleslaw, mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, corn bread and dinner rolls. They helped to balance out the protein, and I have to make special mention that the mac & cheese with bacon bits on top was sinfully good (may need to order it as extra sides next time). We ended the meal with a tangy, and refreshing key lime pie which was excellent as well. Operated by a team of friendly husband and wife, we were served with a smile throughout our meal, and we even had a chance to learn a little bit more of the history and reason behind the move (which I fully support). This is hands-down the best place for BBQ meats in Penang right now.

Great atmosphere, complete with pleasant woodsmoke aroma throughout the shop. Good coffee and kefir, reasonably priced beer. Sadly, not a vegetarian friendly menu.

For our mains, we had the Double Hog and Smoked Pork Crackling. The meats were delicious and very tender! We paired our food with the Vietnam Egg Coffee which was very unique and super good. Finally, we ended our meal with the Eton Mess for dessert which was also nice. Overall, the food quality is definitely above average. The husband and wife team are very passionate about their food and are constantly coming up with new interesting recipes. Highly recommended!

If you have been looking for good mashed potato, look no where but here! They offer main with choice of 2 sides (many varieties to choose from) with a drink and the mains are equally good. Both pork and chicken are very tender. The portion is comparable to the price you pay.

This is Penang's take on Texas style BBQ and boy, was it D E L I C I O U S. We had combo A which consisted of pulled pork and ribs. The ribs was incredibly tender and just fell right off the bone. You don't even need a knife to cut through the meat - that was how soft it was. The sauce was a little sweet but not overpowering. The pulled pork was absolutely flavourful, rich and moist. We also had their weekend special, the pork knuckle. It was H U G E. Unlike German pork knuckle, it wasn't crispy but instead it was fatty and tender - which I think is suited to the local taste. Despite looking like it was roasted for a long while, the meat was surprisingly juicy. I would recommend this for probably 3-4 people. It was served with their own version of sauerkraut. Traditional sauerkraut is sour whereas this wasn't. The chef informed us that he wanted to create a taste that locals would enjoy. A worthy mention was their knockout mashed potato. It was smooth and oh-so creamy. Absolutely delicious pairing with all the meats. Had the knuckle been smaller, we would probably ordered more mashed potatoes!!! Also the prices were incredibly fair/affordable for the portion/quality. Again, note that the taste has been designed to cater to the local taste buds - so while it isn't authentic Texas taste, they've definitely used the method of BBQ-ing meat to perfection. Would definitely come again should I visit Penang.

The food is just great. we had beef brisket und pork ribs and pulled pork. very juicy with a nice smoky barbeque taste. Service is superfriendly. also for desert we had amazing self-made apple strudel.

Bought for takeaway. They have the best beef brisket that I've ever had. Super juicy and tender. This was a weekend special. So call ahead to order! We were lucky and got the last portion. The pulled pork is also delicious, juicy and not dry like orders that I've tried. Definitely a place to come back to.
