The pub is fine but the management are terrible. They recklessly risk people's lives with their selfish parking on the cycle path, despite there being a 2nd loading bay on Eglinton Rd. Not to mention the proprietor in particular has a dreadful attitude. No amount of £3 lunches can make up for their awful behaviour. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid! EDIT: For the avoidance of doubt, the picture below is less than two years, as the lane has not been there for that length of time, and the notion that it was an "isolated incident" would be hillarious, if it were not an egregious lie. Furthermore, I resent your direct insinuation that I personally behave badly on a bike or am in any way responsible for alleged incidents (at this stage, I'm sincerely doubting either actually occurred). It just reinforces my original recommendation that people avoid this pub until ownership changes. FURTHER EDIT: No pedestrian/cycle incidents reported in the last five years - maybe the police just simply forgot to record this allegedly serious incident... 🤨

Everyone in Glasgow has heard of the Star Bar and it’s infamous £4 three course lunch. Yes FOUR pounds. Madness!! But what is it like as a pub? On this visit I did not consume said lunch but did enjoy some banter and a pint. It’s pretty basic inside with a vintage Glasgow pub decor of wood and leather. Locals were mostly sober and staff friendly. I can’t complain but I reckon I’d return just to try the food

On the long walk to Hampden from the city centre we were desperate for a pit stop and ducked in here, what a great decision that was. Bar was full of locals but the staff were absolutely fantastic considering we were complete strangers, so friendly and helpful, absolutely amazing. We loved our 2 hours in here so much it was a real wrench to leave for the match! Outstanding pub, we will be back.

Best value 3 course meal ever! Lovely staff and friendly locals. Soup, mince and tatties and homemade rice pudding with fruit for £5. Breaded fish was tasty too. Old school but filling food.

Traditional old Glasgow pub, food was excellent. All 3 course meals £4, Fish is £1 extra. Soup served today was the best soup I've ever tasted. Waitress was friendly and very efficient, no frills or fancies but definitely worth going to. Our first time here after saying for years oh we must go. Will definitely be back.

I feel very lucky to have found this gem by accident. Going on the weekend for lunch has become something of a tradition now, the extremely reasonably priced lunch menu is delicious and filling and the staff are extremely friendly. It's very welcoming and easy to get to as there are multiple buses that stop nearby.

Rough old bar but not in a bad way. A time warp. Even has an old tabletop arcade game. I have removed one star because a three course lunch doesn't cost £1.20 anymore

Not been for a very long time. Nothings changed, same old, which is a good thing. Me my wife and her 80 odd years cuz popped in for lunch and a pint of Guinness for the old yin. Three × 3 course lunches (fish n chips) £15. Food lovely and our waitress (can't remember your name) was on the ball with a kind word and good patter for everyone. Well worth a visit. We'll be back.

This is one of those places that hasn't changed in decades, quite the institution and well known for it's insane value 3 course meal for a few quid. I've not tried the food. Their drinks offering is truly basic. Not many beers on tap either, but you can expect to pay the cheapest price. Sadly it is still cash only. Went in on a midweek evening and it had a small crowd of very drunk old men.

The iconic Star Bar at Eglinton Toll, famous for the cheapest 3 course meal in Glasgow. After 40 years, they reluctantly raised prices! It is now a whopping £4 for a three course meal. I know! Dined there today and although never likely to win a Michelin Star, it was decent nosh at an incredible price. Andrea the manager, server, head honcho was like the Tasmanian Devil. So efficient yet very attentive. Very friendly. Looked after our party of 7 so well. No complaints. A piece of Glasgow history that lives on and thrives still.

👍👍 An excellent experience at Miller and Carter tonight. The food came out quickly and was so incredibly delicious - the steak was cooked to perfection and the beef dripping sauce was to die for! All steaks come with house fries they can up upgraded to chunky chips or sweet potato fried but we honestly...
