Do not stay here, this place is a scam! Showers did not work, rooms were dated and staff not helpful. Made several complaints about showers not working over the span of the academic year and nothing was fixed. When my flatmate emailed them about this at the end of the year the Sanctuary staff said there were no complaints, when I personally had filed at least 5 over the year. Do not stay here, this place is a scam!

Cheap, affordable, clean accommodation choice not far from the city centre managed by very friendly and accommodating staffs. Although some "flatmates" can be quite off-putting, it is so convenient to be able to have my own room with a rate that is not far too expensive from conventional hostel, and you can request to switch your room (depending on the availability, but you can try). I'd definitely recommend this lodging.

Erm it's a student accommodation so obviously they do as much corner cutting as possible. The thinnest walls and creakiest floors that you'll ever come across. I wouldn't call it dirty, but rather just a little outdated. Make sure you bring enough kitchen stuff (e.g. pots, pans, ect) because whether or not your flat will have any is kind of a draw.

Awful! The building desperately needs severe TLC. This property is getting seriously mis-sold by UofG, as what you get is entirely adverse to its advertisements. Firstly, the building has no windows throughout any communal areas other than the stairways, entrance and selected kitchens. All other windows are in bedrooms. But, since the building follows a dormatory layout across 4 floors, this means air becomes thick and stagnant throughout the corridors - bad enough to regularly make me and my friends gag. The walls are paper thin and many of the door catches don't work anymore, so be prepared for constant door slamming aeound the clock - which, if you're neurodiverse can be really overstimulating! Besides the smell, lack of access to clean air and blitz-level door slamming the building is rampant with damp/mould and leakages so bad we had a bathroom ceiling cave in, which remained neglected by santuary students for months. My kitchen had no windows and so the smell would stick to your clothesand ws an extremely vile thing to smell on yourself. My flatmates and I consistently complained to maintenance about the smell and asked for air extraction improvements but instead got blamed for uncleanliness. However, this remaind a theme with Sanctuary Students because it's very apparent they'd rather blame students than take responsibility and spend some much needed money. Pests would regularly be found throughout the building too. Overall, the entire place is abhorrent and now feels like one of the worst fever dreams imaginable! UofG and Santuary Students need to get it sorted! Better student wellbeing = better university standards and performance.

Wonderful lounge space, exciting events and game nights. All great except for a bunch of unruly undergrads roughhousing at night like they own the place

Nice accomodation, although sharing a kitchen with 8 other people is difficult. Some showers are unusable because they either don't drain properly or don't have hot water

The cheapest of the student accommodations managed directly by the UoG. Good for your first year as it gives you plenty chances to meet new people, but would not really recommend. Since most of the residents are first year, it can easily get messy and dirty. You also have to be lucky in terms of your "flatmates".

Fantastic place to stay, had a whole dorm room to myself with double bed, desk, table, small couch, and sink. Bathrooms are clean and directly outside my room. It was fairly empty too I imagine I almost had the whole floor to myself.

The staff here are not very accomodating to student needs. One huge issue has been the lack of ventilation in our window-less kitchen. Staff have been very strict on the rule that we should not have the door open at any time, and say they can't do anything more to help the smell. Mice and plumbing issues have also come up and I just don't expect Cairncross House to take these problems or others seriously. They do tend to shift the blame onto students. Disappointing start to my study abroad experience.

πŸ‘πŸ‘ If I were to choose my accommodation again, I'd definitely go for True. The thing is, you feel like living in a 5-star hotel and in a big family at one and the same time. Overall, great experience! I'm really sad reading bad reviews as these people simply don't understand what it takes to maintain...

🫀 Student from the US, I had one of the studios and it was brand new so can’t complain there. However the fire alarm went off almost every day. There was a staff member at the front desk who was always passive aggressive to me. They hold on to your packages until 4pm, even if they send you an email it...

πŸ‘πŸ‘ I lived here for 4 years during my studies in Glasgow, and I loved it. The main advantage of this accommodation is its location. Living in Glasgow west end, it's easy and beautiful. You are close to University of Glasgow, and in general, the neighbour has all the necessary. You do not need car, bik...
