In
his
theory
of
relativity,
Albert
Einstein
proved
that
space
and
time
are
relative.
There
are
places
in
the
universe
where
time
moves
faster
or
slower,
and
black
holes
that
turn
the
whole
idea
of
time
inside
out.
I
did
not
fully
understand
Einstein’s
Theory
until
I
stopped
at
the
drive
thru
at
the
McDonald’s
on
Grand
Island
Boulevard
last
evening,
a
quiet
August
night.
Hardly
anyone
was
out
on
Grand
Island.
As
I
drove
past,
I
saw
the
McDonald’s
drive
thru
had
but
one
Lincoln
sedan
waiting
in
line.
I
wanted
a
quick
snack
and
nothing
else
was
open
so
I
pulled
in
against
my
better
judgment.
When
I
went
to
order,
I
was
told
they
only
had
fries
and
drinks.
No
problem,
I
thought,
I’ll
just
get
fries.
It’ll
probably
mean
the
‘line’
would
move
faster
too.
Was
I
ever
wrong.
I
sat
behind
that
Lincoln
for
what
felt
like
forever.
How
could
it
be,
though?
I
thought
they
were
only
serving
fries
and
drinks?
As
the
minutes
passed
by,
it
seemed
like
time
was
*actually*
standing
still.
What
else
could
it
be?
It
defied
logic
that
I
should
wait
over
20
minutes
behind
one
car
with
only
fries
and
drinks
being
served.
Had
I
slipped
into
a
worm
hole?
I
came
to
question
the
very
fabric
of
the
reality
around
me.
As
I
waited
and
waited,
I
came
to
hate
that
Lincoln
more
than
any
Confederate
soldier
at
Gettysburg
ever
hated
a
Lincoln.
I
was
annoyed,
bewildered,
and
hungry.
Ultimately,
I
left
without
getting
the
fries
but
gained
valuable
insight
into
the
mysteries
of
the
universe.
(Hence
the
one
star.)
