To expensive for the quality! We really looked forward to going to this restaurant since we moved to Halifax from Ontario this last July. We recently visited and were very disappointed! At first glance, it looks disorganized. It is winter, but does all the patio furniture need to be left outside the restaurant? This breaks the view of the harbour and makes you feel like enclosed. The restaurant should look for storage over the winter months. The food and drinks are nothing to write home about. For a place that has great looking and sounding menu, the sushi is very bland. We ordered the black mamba, Tokio roll and rising sun rolls. In Halifax you have a lot of good sushi places, this is not one with authentic flavours! About the only good thing in the restaurant is the staff! Great service!

The food and staff were amazing. I really enjoyed our dinner. In the evening if you opt for Lobster roll you'll be getting it in Sushi 🍣 form. However if you come during lunch time you'll be getting it with Bread. A clarity on this thing in the menu would have been better.

We had a nice experience at Sea Smoke Restaurant & Bar during our visit to Halifax. We called for an early dinner reservation and they were able to accommodate us on the patio by the waterfront. It was a bit chilly and windy outside but, they provided us with blankets and lighted up the fire pit. The staff was very friendly and diligent. We even had a nice chitchat with the manager as well. Overall, the food was very good and the portions were satisfying. It was a tad expensive but, given the location and the quality, I think it was reasonable. We also tried and enjoyed some of their drinks. However, even though there was a “happy hour”, the options included were sort of basic so, we skipped it.

I’m really torn with this review. First the service - the waitress and host were very friendly. It took a bit of time to order drinks which was fine as we were people watching - once we ordered the food and drinks it came quickly. This is where the service ended… we never saw our waitress again until the drinks were dry and the food was long gone. Very disappointing. There seemed to be a shift change going on, which led to many of the waitstaff chatting with each other instead of servicing guests. The food: Filipino pork: 10/10 Lobster mushroom 3/10 - the taste was fine, but the filling was dense, dry and lukewarm. Korean Chicken 6/10 - good flavour, good crisp coating but over cooked and dry. Could use a lot more sauce. Atlantic roll 10/10 - very good.

First impression is when the host welcomed us at the door. Her big smile and the way she greets us were lovely. We ordered two dozens of oysters, a seafood skillet, mussels, sashimi and sushi as well. Everyone in our group was satisfied with the food and its freshness. We love the vibe too. We finished the meal when the sun went down and the lights were turned on. The patio outside looked amazing at that moment. Though the wait was a bit long, we definitely come back the next time we go to Nova.

We ordered sticky BBQ pork skewers ($14), seafood and corn chowder ($18), surf & turf ($22), and shrimp tempura roll ($8). Glass of pop is $3 each. Not impressed by the tempura roll, but happy with the chowder. Surf and turf was amazing! Bbq skewers lack smokiness and could use a bit more time on the grill. Servers were accommodating of our request to change seats, which we appreciate.

Came in with a large-ish (6 person) group towards the end of the night, and they were very accommodating about seating us for a full dinner even though I'm sure they were looking forward to shutting down not long after we got there (thank you - and I'm sorry!). The fire-tables were such a nice touch. A lot of people were looking forward to the full surf & turf, but with two cruise ships at port - they were long gone. We were fortunate to be able to get lobster tail, though. The cocktails alone made this experience worthwhile, but the steak and sushi put this over the top. Wonderful service and everything was cooked to perfection. Surprisingly fair-priced considering the tourist-heavy location and view. Will definitely repeat the next time in Halifax.

Great outdoor eating by the sea. Prices are a bit high but quality is here! The service is perfect and the decor is lovely. There are some great chefs behind the counter and the sushis are just incredible. The chowder by the way is delicious. Many gluten free options! One can have fire on the tables outside, really neat when the evening is chill or just for fun! A must try !

Honestly I loved everything about our experience at Sea Smoke! It was a bit chilly out but the fire and blankets were amazing and really I wouldn’t want to be there on a super hot sunny day anyways! Staff were wonderful and enjoyed chatting with our waitress. Food was delicious! My husband was so happy with the chowder and lobster meal. A bit pricey but given the setting and amazing quality, it was worth it. A memorable experience from our time in NS!

Beautiful restaurant in Bishop's landing on the Halifax waterfront. The atmosphere is fantastic. Sitting outside on the boardwalk watching the people go by. The view of the ocean and the boat's coming in and out. The food was fantastic and the drinks were good. Service was amazing.

The food was delicious! We shared the calamari and the crispy rice with tuna as starters. We also had the local oysters which were all delicious. However, the crispy rice with tuna was quite heavy and you couldn’t taste the tuna as much with all the rice. For mains we had the sushi menu. The fish was very fresh so it melted in your mouth. We had the black mamba roll, although please note that this roll is fried and has cream cheese in it so it quite heavy and comes with 12 pieces. We also had the lobster sushi roll and the nova scotia which were to die for!! The sushi was definitely the highlight of the night!

Amazing spot with a view whether your inside with the upscale decor and vibe or outside by the fire table and deck view of the water the one thing that that is prominent is the detail to preparation and presentation of the dishes anytime I can get oysters, sushi and lobster chowder in the same spot it’s a good night and then top that with delicious dishes well prepared and appointed it’s a win win! Food to table had a stall in the beginning but once the got on the downside things rolled in quickly and steadily.

My daughters brought me to Sea Smoke because I commented on the lovely outdoor seating. Not only was the atmosphere beautiful but the food was superb. The dishes were palate-pleasing and excellently prepared. The servers were friendly, attentive, and sweet. Highly recommend. Sit outside, bundle up with the cozy blankets, and enjoy the crisp air with creative cocktails and delicious food.

Great Japanese restaurant that’s right on the water. The rice was too soft and mushy for my liking however the salmon and the other fish were fresh. The rock shrimp was out of this world good! I really enjoyed that as an appetizer. The oysters were mediocre at best. There are other restaurants where you can find better oysters. Overall I would give the restaurant a 4.3/5 star. A little on the expensive side but worth it if you want sushi. Make sure you get reservations for inside especially on a cold day. Outside has fire pits and blankets but even two blankets won’t help you freeze.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sea Smoke in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and I must say, it was an unforgettable sushi experience. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was inviting, with a modern yet cozy atmosphere that set the stage for an exceptional meal. The Sea Smoke menu offered a wide variety of sushi options, and each dish was a masterpiece in its own right. The quality of the ingredients was evident in every bite, from the freshness of the fish to the perfection of the rice. The attention to detail and expert craftsmanship of the sushi chefs at Sea Smoke truly shone through. What truly impressed me was the restaurant's commitment to creativity. Sea Smoke offered unique and innovative sushi rolls that I had never encountered before, pushing the boundaries of flavor combinations in the most delightful way. It was a culinary adventure at Sea Smoke that left my taste buds dancing with joy. The service at Sea Smoke was impeccable as well. The staff was knowledgeable, attentive, and passionate about the food they served, adding to the overall dining experience. Overall, my visit to Sea Smoke in Halifax, Nova Scotia, was nothing short of amazing. It's a place where sushi transcends mere food and becomes an art form. I can't wait to return to Sea Smoke and explore more of their delectable creations. It was a wonderful experience. We had the surf and turf and it was incredible; the scallops appetizer was equally stunning. The oysters were also delicious. The ambiance was wonderful and it was such a treat to be on the patio looking out over the water with a little table fire warming us. The service was friendly and efficient. And it’s an odd thing to say but the candle-lit bathrooms were a surprisingly fun experience. Couldn’t fault anything even if I had wanted to. Perfect dinner.

A picturesque restaurant on the Halifax waterfront. It welcomes you with a wonderful atmosphere and a pleasant appearance. Waiters and staff in general are very friendly and professional. I like how the queue system works. The line moves quickly and you have the opportunity to occupy a good table. I tasted the sushi and I really liked it. The products are fresh, the presentation is nice and compact. In general, the menu here is diverse and varied. There are options for vegans and allergy sufferers. There is also a children's menu. I recommend taking Burger and potatoes. This is something incredible. The only downside of this restaurant is the furniture. The chairs are hard and uncomfortable, and there is simply no legroom under the table. So watch out for that. Overall, I can recommend this place for celebrations or a simple dinner. There are budget dishes here, so everyone will be able to enjoy fine dining.

Went here for a birthday dinner. They were able to sit our walk-in party of five promptly (on a Saturday night!) and we had quick service all night. We were sat outside, and the fire pits and blankets made the waterfront wind pretty tolerable. You don't get a lot of food for the money, but it was all great, fresh, semi-uncommon seafood. Regardless, we had a great time!

One of the best oysters! Sushi was alright, that was spicy salmon and dynamite but the dynamite was literally just shrimp tempura and tempura bits topped with mayo. Service could be better, guy maybe not having a good day. Seated at their patio which was nice but be ready for wasps to join the party.

Our server was great. We could not get her name but she came from Britain and was very attentive and welcoming. She recommended some items on the menu that ended up being very good. The fish is high quality and the view is amazing. Only thing I liked a bit less was the lobster roll (sandwich), the bread was a bit tough and there could’ve been a bit more lobster.

Came in to Sea Smoke for the first time with friends visiting and was very impressed! The sushi was A+, I was very, very happy with all the food I had. The service was fine, and the waterfront patio was incredible. I'll definitely be back! The restaurant was clean and organized

Nice decor - love the teal and gold. Waitress was amazing; very kind, knowledgeable about the menu, great at explaining things and very helpful. Food was delicious and seemed fairly priced. Happy hour going until 5:30 was a huge bonus. Appetizer portions were a bit smaller than I would've liked for the price but they were so good it didn't matter that much!

My husband and I wandered over here after walking along the waterfront. The server was nice and offered good recommendations. We loved all the cocktails we tried. The appetizers were great. Highly recommend the Tuba Crispy Rice and the fried wontons as appetizers. The sushi was good but not amazing. The wait time on food was a bit slow. We sat outside by a fire pit and that was lovely. Overall, good experience and I’m glad we popped by, but I wasn’t very wowed considering how large the bill was.

🫤 Overall experience was not pleasant. This was recommended by my friend, so we thought to give it a try. Bartenders was fantastic, very professional and helpful all around, however, the waitress on the other side was completely different. Not only she forget to check on our table for about 35 minutes...
