Our room was beautiful, comfortable and quiet. Actually, the heating/AC was the quietest we have ever experienced in a hotel room! The bed was incredibly comfortable and the view amazing. I was less than impressed with the food/coffee at the Sea Port Social, which I attended for breakfast. I ordered off the menu (not the buffet) so I can't speak to the quality of that. Your service staff was friendly, efficient and kind.

If you want a good, reasonably priced hotel in Halifax - this should be your go-to place. The rooms are a bit small, so if you can spring for a larger room do it. But the location, at the south end of town is ideal and quiet. Easy walks to everything and because of the students living on this side of the city, tons of great cheap eats.

Great location near downtown Halifax and the superstore. Lots of street parking around so we only parked at the hotel one day. Room and bathroom was a little small but pretty standard and everything worked. Only one side of the bed had extra outlets so we had to unplug the phone. Gym and pool area was great, the cold towels were awesome. The bar and restaurant was nice as well.

I have stayed at this hotel a couple of times, and I have enjoyed myself on both occasions. The location is excellent, as it is connected to the train station, as well as being next to the waterfront.
As for the rooms, I found them very comfortable. My family also enjoyed the pool and restaurant. As for the service, it was good, while the staff was quite friendly. I would happily stay here again the next time I am in Halifax.

This is an old and historic hotel in Halifax, NS. Because of it's age, some of the rooms are a little smaller than some other hotels, but renovations an investments in things like quality linens, combined with being right downtown by Pier 21 make up for it. Very friendly staff. Our room was clean upon checking and we were even able to get a microwave sent to our room. Pool and hot tub were nice and relaxing. During peak season, obviously the price goes up, but that happens all the time with every chain.

I can't say enough good things about this hotel. The staff are excellent and really seem to 'get' customer service. Food service is excellent. The rooms are comfy, clean and quiet and reflect the history of the site dating back to the 1930's. This Westin is worth several return visits! Only a 2-minute walk from the boardwalk/pier area. Plenty of on-site parking front and rear.

Hotel is beautiful and the beds were very comfortable. Food was great at the conference. However, it is not a quiet hotel. You can hear people slamming doors and talking late into the night. Our second night there after 1 hour of hooting and hollering from a nearby room (at 2am) I had to call the front desk to report them. It did thankfully stop afterwards therefore I assume they took care of it, however I didn’t expect to have to deal with that at this status hotel.

August 2022 (I'm not a child, seriously.) (I forgot to write this review after I came back) My stay overall was actually quite great. When I came in the staff were very friendly and we got a room in a fast amount of time. No one was rude, and everything went good. Guests were friendly too, and it clearly shows the staff know how to be respectful. That's pretty much all for the service. The location was GREAT. This was near the river and I can see a full city and if you are in the higher floors you can look out the window, and what a beauty. You can see Halifax and sometimes on the river even boats, but then if you look more forward you can see Dartmouth. The location is a 5 star. The rooms, everything was pretty good, the room maintenance for everything was good, the beds were actually clean and the floor was clean too, and I can tell everything was orderly. However, the only flaw of the room is that sometimes some of the rooms have too small bathrooms but overall the rooms is good. This hotel was worth it. Overall, I would say this hotel is an excellent one.
The rooms are 4.5
Service is 5
Location is 5.
Total 14.5/15
Keep up the great work!

The hotel is in a historic building so there are some challenges making it meet Westin Standards. Service was great! Location is fantastic. We stayed one night at beginning of our trip to NS and one night at end of our trip so we staid in two different rooms. Both times beds were uncomfortable. They definitely don’t use the beds found in US Westin Hotels. The carpets in both rooms needed to be replaced. Rooms are very small but that is because of the historic nature of the hotel. We did get a lobster roll and a salad at the hotel bar. Both were very good. Cocktails and beer selection are also good. Hotel bar isn’t a place that feels like you would want to hang out. Dark, not a lot of natural light. We came back from Dinner one night and they had WWE wrestling on the large TV. Interesting choice for a luxury hotel. Location just off the boardwalk is fantastic. Tons of amazing restaurants within a 15 minute walk. I think next time I will try the Marriott. The hotel seemed a little dingy. Not you typical Westin Standards. Indoor pool felt really dark and unwelcoming. Mostly because of the color they choose to paint the room.

When you choose Westin, you choose it because of its name and brand value. So you expect quality. I mean thats what I was expecting from this globally known chain. Well, I was wrong. Totally disappointed with Westin. I stayed there for 3 nights. The carpet in the room was old and dusty. Bed was ok, but what disgusted me was the toilet. It had spots from over the year usage. Even Comfort Inn maintains their far well. Westin made me realized that all that glitters is not gold. The only positive thing i have to say about their service is that they sent me back one item I left behind. But that came with a price too. I mean, charging $46 for a courier of 1lb box, seriously? I understand it was charged by 3rd party operator. Why don't you find a more customer friendly 3rd party courier then? Never going back to any Westin.

Hotel is very nice, were excited when we checked in. But the service the entire time time has been so slow. From checking in, they kept telling me our cards were being declined, so called the credit company and they said the charges were approved and it's the hotel system. But they just kept repeating our cards are declined. Everything is slow, breakfast has a line 30-40 minutes, even though lots of empty tables, maybe they were short staffed. Just no service here, probably wouldn't stay here again.

Very kind and thoughtful staff. My family stayed while taking my son to IWK.
The Gentlemen working front door where so kind and accommodating they even provided us with valet parking to make it easier getting in and out.
Thank you so much

Nice hotel in the heart of the downtown district of Halifax. In-house food and bar are great, with a breakfast buffet that is better than most, including eggs Benedict, which I've not seen in a buffet setting before, served out of Le Creuset pans! Staff and front desk are very courteous and go the extra step, providing take away coffee and drinks to take to your room. My room had a little musty smell to it, and the closet door kept closing every time I would enter, which controlled the light, so I had to use the ironing board to prop it open. Minor inconvenience but not acceptable for the price point here. Room was smaller than expected and the mustyness was disappointing. It wasn't strong, but enough that it was unacceptable for what I thought was a Marriott standard. I would stay again, as everything else was great.

The view from my room was wonderful and the room was quiet. The common areas are what you'd expect at a Westin so were pleasing. The staff in all departments were friendly and efficient. Something broke in my room, and it was replaced within 30 minutes. The restaurant was reasonably priced and the mussels were great.

I went for a conference and stayed an additional night to enjoy the city. The hotel is located just beside the Via Rail train station and in front of the port, where the cruise ships dock. It's just a 10 minutes walk to the busy seasonal vendors on the boardwalk. The room is fine but mine didn't have a microwave. The bathroom is extremely small though, but I guess it's the "conference rate" kind of room. Everything was clean, bed was comfortable and the food served at the conference was good. I just didn't give 5 stars for service because the front desk clerk (who was in training) wasn't welcoming at all. He never asked if it was my first time at the hotel, didn't explain me about the pool and gym facilities as they usually do.

I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel. This hotel is located in the heart of downtown where everything is easily accessible. It was a pleasure to stay in such a beautiful room with an amazing view.
I was not pleased with the service on our first day of check-in, but later on, everyone was very friendly and helpful. The two boys who were at the gate helping everyone as well as the people who were cleaning the rooms were very kind and helpful.
If you are planning to visit Halifax, I highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel was so nice. Modern and clean. The reception had iced flavored water and apples. We felt welcome. The sea view on the 10th floor we got was awesome (thanks Liz). The location was perfect with an Atlantic Real Canadian Store 2 minutes walk away for convenience shopping. The pool did not have that chemical chlorine smell. Definitely recommend.

The hotel has friendly staff. The room was decent. The sink in the the bathroom didn’t drain properly so water would accumulate. The shower was difficult to turn on (you have to give a hard pull towards you) but the water pressure was great. Great location. I would stay again.

Pro: the aesthetic inside the property were great, and the restaurants servers were extremely polite and professional. Beds were comfy.
Cons: when entering the parking lot it was near impossible to find a spot as several parking spaces were double parked leaving a gap that even the smallest compact could fit into leaving the other guests to park in non parking spots leaving the whole lot congested and difficult to move around in.
There were some events happening inside the hotel and unfortunately the the balcony below our room led to the hall that these events were happening. This led to the people attending these parties to stand directly below my window and scream, yell, and laugh all at extremely loud levels. On top of this the door to and from the balcony was being slammed so hard it shook the room we were staying in every few minutes. I called the front desk at 1130 to complain about the noise and nothing happened. After tossing and turning I managed to get about an hour's sleep before being woke by more screaming and hollering. I called the front desk again at 2am to which I was told, "we talked to them already and they said they would quieter". This went on past 4am. I couldn't tell you if they stopped or I just past out due to exhaustion. It was a terrible night for my wife and myself.

I recently stayed at Westin and it was an exceptional experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, and the room was clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. The facilities were top-notch, with a beautiful pool, fitness center, and on-site dining options. The location was also convenient, with many local attractions within easy reach. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious and comfortable stay. Thank you for making my trip unforgettable!

Not sure what all the negative complaints are about. The hotel has an excellent location right beside the waterfront, museum of immigration, farmer's market , Via rail, Superstore and liquor store - literally all within 5 minute walk if that. Staff were super kind and helpful. Price was reasonable. Yes, the rooms could do with a bit of upkeep and the food in the resto was only so-so (cocktails, mind you, were great as was bartender and waitress). But, really doesn't merit the negative reviews I read before booking. This is not a 5-star hotel and that is reflected in the price. I would say it's a solid 4 star with some need for minor maintenance in the rooms themselves. I would definitely return and recommend. You do get what you pay for. Thanks to all the staff for making our stay a great one!

Wonderful hotel - great reception.
The views overlooking the harbor are nice.
The welcome note from the hotel is a nice touch.
Kudos to team Westin Halifax.
*Update Nov 10th. Interestingly room service dropped off dinner, and it was someone else's order. Still tasty - just not what I had decided on. The fries and grilled chicken sandwich are delicious!

The location is great. The rooms are up to date and clean. Service was great as well. They have 1 J-1772 charger which I was able to use each night. I would suggest adding additional 2 J-17 chargers and a couple Tesla chargers. That alone will increase the appeal of staying at the hotel. Overall it was a great stay.

I was here from UK about a month ago. I have to say the staff offered some of the best service I have received. Nothing was too much trouble. The room I had was large and very comfortable. It was a bit dated, but when I adjusted to the style it was just fine, and cleaned daily. Restauant was a bit pricey, but there were local alternatives. Food in evening was good. I would stay here again for definite.

Nice room but considering the price it was really expensive. No complimentary breakfast and no special touches that you might expect. Only apples in the lobby and flavoured water. Pool area was so so , and a bit dated. beds were top notch but they did forget to make up our room one day. We had to ask for a microwave but the did send one up for us to use. The mini fridge didn’t hold much. We loved the location being so close to the waterfront. We didn’t rent a car so walking everywhere was very good. Lots of restaurants and things to do downtown. The downtown seemed very safe and not sketchy like Winnipeg is. Only got asked for money once by a hobo during our 5 day stay. We got asked if we needed help finding something three times which was a nice surprise, the hotel is also a very short walk to a superstore grocery store where you can find nice breakfast and lunch items that can be taken on the go. Which probably should be included in the room price. I did notice that you can upgrade to a continental breakfast but that was something like 60$ more so we opted out of that and bought food for ourselves and went to breakfast restaurants for way cheaper.

This is a great place to stay when visiting Halifax. While it's certainly not the cheapest, the comfort of the rooms, the service and the proximity Halifax's beautiful waterfront make it a great choice.
The rooms were clean and seemed relatively newly renovated. The bed is super comfortable (we had a king size) and the air conditioning is nice and quiet to help those light sleepers get their rest. If you are looking to splurge a little more, getting the room with a view gives you a perfect view of Halifax Harbour, Georges Island and Dartmouth beyond. It also gives you a perfect sunrise (if you manage to get a sunny day on the east coast).

Location of this hotel is great in my opinion. Friendly and helpful staff to answer any questions I had. There was also plenty of parking and I would feel parking the vehicle there. Breakfast was included which my stay, the first day the breakfast was good, the second day breakfast was okay. The room I stayed in had a decent view of the park, also had a big desk which is nice to have and a decent size tv to watch when winding down for the day. The bathroom had good lighting, which was great 👍. The only negative is the bathroom size which I found to be small for me being tall. I understand this is an old building and use to be government building renovated into a hotel, but too small for tall people. But the major issue was the bath towel, there was a big dark spot on it which kinda of grossed me out. Another issue was the sink, the water flow went down very slow, probably the pipe needs to be cleaned out. I would stay again but need to check all towels before using and maybe get a room with a bigger bathroom if possible?

Absolutely terrible.
We picked this hotel based on reviews and vicinity to the boardwalk. And although relatively close, there are better locations.
Right from the start, the check in agent was so rude. His demeanour was dismissive and abrupt. We were not offered options for parking or even help (or directions to our room). This was brushed off as people can have a bad day and the valet was an absolute gem. He told us we could upgrade to valet parking which was much appreciated as the check in agent told us to go around back to park… so in the dark this was a daunting idea.
Day 2 we complained about the room to another front desk agent. Understanding the hotel was built in 1930 it is not the most modern but the plumbing barely functioned and we had no bathroom fan. There was gross brown stuff dripping down our walls. We were told “we can move you to a comparable room” umm, no thanks! Why would we be inconvenienced by packing up to move to the same thing. They offered to come inspect and clean up the brown stuff, which never happened.
The in-room dining hours are quite short and there are no vending machines on site. When asking another front desk agent what our options were for night time snacks we were told “that’s what superstore is for” which is down the road.
The whole building smells of must. The pool is out of date and dirty, not to mention how terrifying the elevator is that takes you there.
You can do better for price and location while visiting the pier.

A very classy and welcoming hotel in the centre of Halifax. Fairly pricey but a great place to stay if you intend to frequent the waterfront.
Our room was very small, the bathroom wasn't stocked (we had body wash in the soap dish instead of soap because they ran out) and the door to the bathroom was glass meaning any friends we had over had to leave the room if someone wanted to use it.
Judging from the floor plan, we just got unlucky with an end room, but worth considering. I don't tend to spend much time in hotel rooms other than sleeping and getting ready, and it was great for both of those.

Was on a short trip to Halifax and was lucky to have chosen Westin Nova Scotian. This was our first ever visit to Halifax and chose this hotel primarily for its location... It definitely turned out being a great choice. The Hotel was clean and neat. The front desk staff and especially the manger "Riasin" was SUPERB, she definitely went out of her regular duty to accommodate us. The Housekeeping staff was also very courteous and helpful. Highly Rated and recommended

One of the notable and landmark hotels in Halifax! It’s been staying there for 10 years! Excellent location nearby VIA Train Station, Superstore, gas station, park, and some famous restaurants just minutes walking distance! They have done a fabulous upgrade and looks like even more refined and elegant! The room was spacious and clean! The Bar and room service were great and prompt! Although I had multiple issues with this stay, the Front Desk was able to handle and resolve it properly and professionally to my satisfaction! Will come back again and highly recommended!

I enjoyed so much my stay. The hotel was clean and magnificent. The staff was so happy, smiling and welcoming. The man when I checked in took the time to learn how ton pronounce my family name, he showed me respect and recognition. I also had a great service at the bar and the cocktails were worth it. My room was at the seventh floor and the view of the city was quite beautiful. They earned a client for life. 💯

Service was excellent at restaurant and front desk. The location gets 5 stars you can walk everywhere. Rooms are decent. Pool/hot tub was very dirty - do not want to get into details but it looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in a long time. Random sofa cushion in pool area?
