For a 3 star hotel and Marriott ‘s largest brand it was poor quality. The showers need to be renovated. It was mild in the corners of the tub. The shower curtains were smelly and musty. The room was okay though. And there should be complementary water in the fridge. I know lots of people are probably saying you are staying in the room much , but no that’s not the point. You are still sleeping there and spending some time so there should be a quality deference between a Courtyard and a 2 star motel. Otherwise why charge so much more at the courtyard ? Renovated rooms are part of staying at a reputable hotel that’s Marriott largest brand. You don’t want to check in to a tired room with molds on the shower. Also I would like to open my fridge and see something. A water bottle at least. Otherwise why pay more and advertise the hotel for better quality and customer service if you are offering the same service equivalent to a Motel or a 2 star hotel. Asides from tired looking rooms and molded tubs everything else was okay. The reception people could be more helpful and friendlier. Thanks for the stay .

Excellent waterfront location. Walkable to all the main things on the waterfront! Has paid parking garage, small indoor pool, and small restaurant for paid meals. Decor is nice, but not modern. Only complaint was the noise of construction and garbage truck idling outside early morning - but not the hotel’s fault.

Pros: location. really good location, and some rooms have a beautiful water view. The staff are also very kind and provide great service. Cons: check in is at 4pm which I find too late in the day. The hotel is very old. The elevator doors shriek when closing, there are stains on the furniture, no working fan in the bathroom, and just looks outdated. There are only 2 elevators and so it gets very busy, you are almost always guaranteed to wait and also stop at every floor.

The Courtyard Downtown Halifax impresses with its unbeatable location and attentive service. While some aspects of the hotel might feel a bit outdated, the redeeming feature is the comfortable beds that guarantee a good night's sleep. If you value convenience and friendly staff, this hotel is worth considering for your stay in Halifax.

On the upside: Great location!! Courteous, friendly staff, and comfortable beds. On the other hand: Room was in need of update. The quality of in-room coffee was not good. The fridge didn’t cool sufficiently and was not fixed after multiple calls over our 4 day stay. The room lacked a microwave. Moral of story: don’t bring perishable food to your room if you plan to keep it cool or warm it up. All in all, the hotel had a lot of positives but the drawbacks detracted from living up to the promise of the Courtyard brand (hence the 4 stars).

Everything was just perfect in this hotel. Enjoyed the location. Staff at reception were courteous and accommodating. Room was clean. View was great. They let us do late checkout as they weren’t busy. Bistro served a mean grilled chicken sandwich. All in all, great stay.

Staff are friendly. Nice rooms. But if you're looking for a nice quiet hotel to relax in during your stay in Halifax, this is NOT the place. Loud traffic on 3/4 sides, loud guest on balconies, very thin walls so you can hear other guest's chatter. The parking garage is tiny, and is very easily missed (us and another guest both passed the door, and almost got stuck turning around inside). Signage for the building is difficult, you can easily drive-by the entrance if you take the side road.

Great place to stay, modern, exceptionally clean, terrace and zen gardens overlook the harbour, nice place to have morning coffee. Hotel is in downtown, close to everything. The only downside is we didn’t have our own thermostat…well we did, it was just connected to the heating system of the hotel. It was quite warm in our room even though we turned the thermostat to cool. Also, our room window didn’t open but I saw that other rooms did. Other than that, it was a great stay!! I would recommend!

I stayed here twice in the past 4 months and both times were not enjoyable and very unpleasant. The first time we tried to check in early as we had requested for 1 and we’re denied so came back for 4pm (still not available) even though check in is at 3… I complain because it’s a bachelorette party and get put into a room somehow instantly. This room was FILTHY. There was hair all over the bathroom floor and carpet and when I asked the housekeeper he said the vacuum was broken… shocked they thought it was okay to put a guest in a room that they knew was dirty. We tried again just last weekend to stay there again, Shame on us. The room was again not ready at 4pm… and then the air conditioner didn’t work and it was 20 degrees outside so that was horrible. The rooms are dated and guest services is not the friendliest. If you’re staying in Halifax , stay clear of this place.

Staff were friendly, view from the room was nice. Very clean. Don't bother with the breakfast at The Bistro, very over priced and literally 3 things to choose from. I would much rather gone somewhere else for breakfast but we had already included it in the price of the room. Wouldn't do that again. Great location for waterfront access, restaurants and bars. If coming from Dartmouth take the ferry, short walk!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at [Hotel Name] in [Location] and overall, it was a delightful experience. While I typically refrain from leaving negative reviews, I wanted to share a minor issue we encountered during our stay. Let me start by saying that we thoroughly enjoyed our room and the amenities provided by the hotel. The accommodations were comfortable, clean, and well-maintained, creating a cozy environment that made our stay truly enjoyable. However, I would like to address a small hiccup that occurred when our son unexpectedly decided to spend the night in our room. Since his apartment was quite far away, we inquired at the front desk about the possibility of obtaining a cot. Initially, the staff seemed accommodating and assured us that it wouldn't be a problem. Regrettably, the situation took a bit longer to resolve than we anticipated. Despite making a couple of follow-up calls to the front desk, it became apparent that obtaining a cot was not possible. Although it would have been preferable if the hotel staff had been knowledgeable and upfront from the beginning, politely informing us that it was not possible, we encountered a bit of a miscommunication and delay in the process. Nonetheless, it's important to emphasize that this issue was relatively minor in the grand scheme of things and did not significantly impact our overall enjoyment of our stay. The staff was friendly and attentive throughout the rest of our time at the hotel, ensuring that our needs were met in other aspects. In conclusion, despite the brief miscommunication regarding the cot, I would still highly recommend [Hotel Name] for its comfortable rooms and pleasant atmosphere. I believe that this incident was an isolated occurrence, and it did not overshadow the positive aspects of our stay. I hope the hotel takes note of this situation to improve their internal communication and ensure a seamless experience for future guests.

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. For sure, there are many good things: comfortable rooms, stunning views of Halifax from the roof terrace, fantastic location, you can rent E-bikes. They also get some small things right, like lending you an umbrella when it's raining, which is important when you are next to the ocean. Other things are less positive: the Wi-Fi in my room did not work forcing me to use data; they do not offer daily housekeeping; the small savings in booking here were undermined by having to pay almost $25 a day for parking plus breakfast, which is not included. Also, if you are a Marriott member, your perks are limited here compared to other hotels in the chain. If you don't care about frills and just want a room, this hotel is good. If you are willing to pay a bit more, you may not only get better service at another hotel, but in the end it could balance out financially, as you will not have to cover little expenses like in the Courtyard.

Perfect location right close to the action on the Harbourfront. Our room had a beautiful view of the harbour and was very clean and comfortable. Our stay was made extra special by a surprise when we arrived in our room for our anniversary. Would definitely recommend this hotel with the location being the biggest seller.

Beds on the firm side but comfortable. Views great. Staff lovely, and I can't say enough about their grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup from the bistro. It's anything but basic, and worth it. I wish I could make them that amazing at home. The perfect luxury comfort food to ride out a flight delay and storm.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would happily recommend it. Very clean and comfortable rooms, underground parking, nice restaurant for breakfast and we walked to The Black Sheep next door at the old Keith's Brewery.... It was a most memorable stay and price was reasonable.

Came in from Ontario for a weekend. Had oceanside view and loved it. I at one point turned my chair and just watched the people on the boardwalk and ocean. The room was spacious. The closet oddly didn't have any hangers. The front desk services very friendly. Breakfast isnt included and the menu looks overpriced. Do not see myself having anything from their bistro.

Room was a bit dated, but very clean. Lobby was nice to enjoy a coffee, snacks, catch up on the news or watch a game. Staff were very friendly. We will definitely return!

Hotel is clean and rooms are spacious, 8th floor harbour view terrace is beautiful. Parking is horrific. Spots are tight, random storage of Christmas decor in parking spots. Mouse traps set in parking lot which is a hazard for kids! 😟 spots are also hard to get out of… staff did not provide instructions re: parking lot layout, there is no way to u-turn once you entered the parking lot due to tight s

Great location and easy check in and check out process but cannot say that the stay was that comfortable. The pillows on the beds were the most uncomfortable pillows I have ever slept on. The bathroom also had missed areas that should have been cleaned and tidied up (the hair dryer was out of place and there was still some hair from the last guest on it). As others said, likely due to cutting costs, it would've helped if daily parking was included .

Really outdated and poorly managed hotel. The clerk checking us in (Friday 8/5) at 10pm was clearly high as a kite and made us very uncomfortable and not welcome. The room itself wasn’t cleaned very well.. stains on the pillow, couch, and comforter. Room was in poor condition, bathroom door would wedge stuck and be almost impossible to open. To top it off there is absolutely no housekeeping, it’s august of 2022 “covid” is not a reason not to be providing basic housekeeping (towels, bed made, trash taken out) we practically had to fight the front desk to bring us up a fresh set of towels. Location was great but for the price this was a total joke

We booked two rooms and one of the rooms was not cleaned properly when we checked it. If you get 716 request for a change of rooms immediately. The bathroom smelled like a public park washroom and after requesting deep cleans of the bathroom, it only helped the issue but was not resolved. The hotel was over sold and we were never able to change rooms. The second room never received the so called "wellness check". Over 4 nights, there was no housekeeping and the garbage was never emptied and towels were never replenished. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone I know. After paying $250/night, you would expect better than a motel stay.

Too expensive for what you get. Gym is small. Hot tub was closed. Key stopped working halfway through my stay. View from my window looked onto an empty construction site. Impossible to understand the staff at the front desk because they are muffled in masks and standing behind plexiglass, which is ridiculous because masks are no longer required of the guests. It's in a great location but I don't think I'll return.

Room was large and clean. Great location. Downside, there is absolutely no housekeeping service during your stay! They claim due to covid protection. But considering there's no pricing concessions this is a nice bump to their bottom line.

We stayed in a room with a terrace. It had great views. Liked how close it was to everywhere we wanted to go, we were able to park our car there and walk everywhere. Room was spacious and clean. Just didn't have a microwave.

Room was spacious. We booked a suite. We had 4 people so needed extra towels. We requested house keeping when we checked in but it never happened. We had to call down to front desk several times for towels. We had to empty our garbage but there were no extra bags provided to put in the garbage buckets. The location was incredibly noisy, trucks all day long. Although it was within walking distance to the harbour front, the noise level is just not worth it. Stay a little further up towards the Citadel and avoid the noise. Will not stay here again or recommend.

This Hotel was beautiful. The Hotel is spotless its constantly cleaned on every floor. My room had 2 queens and a partial ocean view...it was very partial. The room was spacious and comfortable loved it. There is no breakfast sadly but second cup is on the main floor. My friend and I went went to the cabin coffee restaurant 2 min walk great breakfasts and coffee. The pool was small but very clean. I loved the location its steps away from the boardwalk which was stunning. Plenty of restaurants along the boardwalk just know that almost every restaurant closes at 10pm. I would definitely stay again!!

Stayed here in early July and had a great experience. The view of the harbour from the top floor is breathtaking! If you did not book a top floor room, they have a patio for all guests to visit. You can’t beat the location, only steps from the harbour, shops, and restaurants, The room was clean, and the front desk staff were friendly. We did have a few issues with the air conditioner not working, but the maintenance team arrived only moments after calling to fix it. Highly recommend

Let me start by saying that service was excellent and staff were very friendly. The hotel advertised that they had a hot tub but when we got to the property it had been out of service for well over a month. They should communicate that before people make reservations especially when an amenity is out of service for an extended period of time. Also, no fan in the bathroom and room didn't feel well ventilated.

The staff were polite and friendly, the room was clean and well presented with a lovely view. Not huge but certainly not small enough to be an issue. The pool was a touch on the small side though, large room with lots of lounging space that perhaps could have been better used as actual pool space.
