Reserved a king room months ago and was given a room with 2 queens. Tried to call the front desk to sort the issue out using the number of the phone and “Guest Services” number sent us to a random person not associated with the hotel. When we went to the front desk to request a swap we were informed that our reservation wasn’t for a king, even though we booked through the Hilton website and had proof of a king reservation. When we kindly asked if she could move us or upgrade for the inconvenience she said no. Very little empathy or kindness for a mistake on the part of Hilton. The room feels dirty. Bathroom is tiny. Beds are old spring mattresses that are squeaky. I am shocked that this is marked as a 4 star hotel. Would rank it closer to a 2 star motel. Would not recommend unless you get in on a deal and are trying to save a buck. Not a quality establishment.

If i could give 0 stars... This place was trash! The room was dirty, there was no soap in my room, the sheets were musty, and I had to go to 4 different floors to get ice. Trying to get a hold of anyone at the desk forget it! it would be easier to cure cancer. I checked out on Sunday and up until now, Wednesday I am not able to get anyone to answer the phone. There is no microwave in the rooms, one at the front desk (motels are classier than that!) The front desk staff was incredibly rude and not at all helpful. We forgot a jacket in the room went back not even an hour later and they told us we would have to come back tomorrow because housekeeping was gone? (at 1pm). I said I live in Canada and need to get the jacket they said no problem call and we will ship it to you. Good luck getting any of those lazy workers to answer the phone! For the price of this hotel, go elsewhere. Not worth it even for free. I would NEVER stay here again and I recommend you don't either.

Nothing was good about this hotel. We booked this hotel specifically because it had a pool. That was listed as open. We paid more than we wanted just for that. We turned up and it was closed for maintenance. We have two small children who have been stuck in a car for days and the kids needed it. We requested a partial refund. They agreed to a $50 credit. The following morning while packing our things the curtain rail fell down. Our young kids (1 and 3) standing a foot from it. God knows what could have happened if they had been hit. We told them as we checked out that the rail had fallen. About an hour later we noticed that about $600USD had been deducted from our account in addition to our room cost. We called them and they explicitly said that they do not care, and that we had trashed the room and broken a lamp. None of which happened and they refused to show us any evidence, because there was none. They blatantly lied to us. We even had a photo from around the time we checked out showing that the room was not trashed. They took the money from our account without notification or even an invoice. We have notified Hilton customer service. The staff at this hotel were absolutely appalling. Useless at their jobs, and then scamming us at the end. We have often chosen Hilton in the past. We will not be doing so going forward. Hilton Hartford is the worst possible choice you can make for your holiday.

Wouldn't stay here again if my life depended on it. Beds were supposed to be 2 queens, upon checking in the hotel staff stated not a single room in the hotel had queen beds and they also didn't have any ADA accessable rooms which had me wide eyed. They had renovation work that started at 8:30am that hadn't stopped by the time I checked out. The pool was completely empty and unusable. Bathroom had no hot water. The phone in the room to call hotel staff didn't even work so it wasn't like you could just call and ask a simple question such as asking for more towels or ordering room service. The entire hotel and room felt dirty. Couldn't find the continental breakfast anywhere. The whole place felt like a scene out of Dexter with the plastic hanging everywhere. Also, absolutely refused to eat at their 1 star restaurant inside of the hotel after reading the terrible reviews they got. On top of all that, I have a service animal. I signed the animal paperwork with any charges I would've had with bringing a pet blacked out. When I went to check out the hotel staff tried to charge me a $250 pet fee which is completely unacceptable. By that point I literally just had to laugh because not a single thing at this hotel went right. I was originally supposed to stay here for 4 nights, checked out after 1. Yes, it's close to the convention centers, but 100% not worth my money. $250 for a Wednesday night that I would've gotten more use out of if I burned it instead. The place is an utterly terrible mess. Do not stay here.

I was disappointed. First, the pool was closed with absolutely zero warning on Hilton’s end. The indoor pool was proudly advertised on the Hilton website, and was the main reason I chose this hotel aside from its high rise views and walkability. Half the hotel was under construction, we went to the top floor to look at the view from the hallway window and we were shocked to see the elevator doors open to a hazardous construction site. On that note, we were woken up at around 7 AM by drills and hammers in the room next door. What should’ve been a restful night sleep was ruined. This hotel has a lot of potential. The service was excellent, and the structure has good bones and the infrastructure for greatness. In particular, the man who checked us in around 4:15 on Monday the 29th was really friendly. But what we received was not worthy of the flagship Hilton brand. Myself and my family are regulars at Hilton properties so this was a major letdown.

The pros: the beds were very comfortable, the staff were accommodating and helpful, it was clean, and it’s a great location. Cons; we had no hot water in our room, the elevators were not working at the time of checkout, and with 2 elderly parents this was a huge inconvenience, and the construction was all around loud. I read previous reviews, but booked anyways, and perhaps this place will improve after all of the construction is done.

Service here was decent. Hotel staff was friendly, helpful. For a Hilton though, the room was a little trashy. Room was dated, not as clean as I like, wallpaper peeling, old stained fixtures. Parking is annoying as you must get a ticket and have it stamped at front desk before exiting garage and its $19 a day. Don't even think about eating at the "restaurant."

Upon arriving I was told that the pool and gym were closed but this didn't seem to be mentioned on their site. I was traveling for business and did intend on using the gym but not the pool. So I wasn't too bothered by the fact that they were both closed. The staff was nice enough and my room seemed clean and relatively updated. However when I tried to go to bed I realized that my room is overlooking the highway and noise was ridiculous. I asked to change my room but was told they were booked. The noise kept me up all night. By the second morning I was exhausted.... but I was quickly woken up by an ICE COLD shower because there was no hot water in my room. Also, it seemed as though someone was operating a jack hammer next door to my room, which started at around 7:30am. I told the woman at the front desk and she didn't seem to concerned. They didn't offer to do anything for me, not even credit me for the $6 water bottle that I drank in the room. I will not be coming back here. My company's home office is in the area and I will be urging my fellow employees to go elsewhere (The Goodwin and Del Mar are good choices FYI)

I want to say thank you to Cherene, for such a warm reception and mindful customer experience. I was exhausted when I checked in and she was so helpful and kind. She is a great representative of Hilton brand. Thank you. Parking here is also east with garage on side of building with hotel entry below. The reception, vast lounging areas and even restaurant, is all new and inviting with TVs and enough seating. Located in heart of downtown. It's a short walk to art center, churches and restaurants. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. My only issue was the elevator looked worn and parts of interior were off. Same with a wall molding in hallway near elevator. Everything else is updated and bathrooms are clean.

I got sick before my trip and cancelled my trip 36 hours before. The cancellation policy said “up to the hotel’s discretion”. So I called the hotel and being an Honors Member, and hoping they would have some empathy tried to discuss a partial charge. No. There was no discussing. The manager was straight RUDE and not professional. No empathy whatsoever and did not care that I was a loyal customer. Money hungry. I would NEVER stay at a hotel where management treated people in that manner. Being in the industry myself, I know that it’s my customers who make my business successful so their success and happiness is truly my delight. If I was you I would choose another hotel close by, with staff that will welcome you with a smile and have customer first attitude.

The hotel and pool are under construction. I booked here to rest due to a migraine, work in peace, and have my kids swim indoors after work. NONE OF THAT HAPPENED. Nothing on their site says no pool right now, and the noise from the construction all day was unbearable! I asked for a different room, and that had construction above it also. 3rd room did not. The first and 3rd rooms were old and musty. The 2nd room was remodeled and smelled clean. None of the rooms had microwaves. Thanks to this experience, I will call and check to see if there's construction or a pool before spending hundreds of dollars for no reason.

Nice hotel; not nice location. Great staff. Minimal amenities in rooms. We could have asked for another hand towel or one more bar of soap, but should not need to. Good fitness center. Hotel on edge of downtown with few good dining options in walking distance. Very isolated location.

You can consider this the standard, older Hilton property. All Furnishings are a bit dated but in decent shape. If you compare this property to some of the other similar brands in town, you will see that this property has slipped. It is reflected in the lack of employees to be able to cover the restaurant. Food offerings are provided via stainless steel refrigerator that is adjacent to the front lobby, and also damaged. The property simply has lost any aesthetic appeal. I strongly urge ownership to invest in the property and bring it in line with competitive properties nearby. I do not want to mention that the employees were helpful and efficient.

Today I called around 5:30 PM. The Lady told me that my reservation was booked and, "See you guys when you get here." MY FAMILY IS IN TOWN FROM SOUTH CAROLINA‼️ When we arrived at the Hotel, there was no Reservation... The Young Lady was rude and ghetto. She took over from day shift and couldn't find my info! I gave the lady my Hilton Member Number! We had to book elsewhere! This is a shame and I want to speak with management for wasting our time!!!! I'VE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH ANY HILTON PROPERTY BEFORE THIS! WE USE HILTON OFTEN‼️ TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE‼️

The staff was amazing. The facility & location were great. The Breakfast needs a little refresh - maybe a Belgian waffle maker; however, the restaurant staff were top notch.

Front desk was helpful and patient. However, the facilities need work. Specifically, our room had a really bad smoke odor, so we were moved to a different one. Ice machines on 9th and 10th floor were broken. Room carpet was stained and aged. Given this is a "Hilton", I expected more well-kept facilities. On the good side, again, folks at the front desk were helpful and responsive. Cafe/restaurant downstairs was clean, well-stocked, and had decent food. I will likely select a different property next time I'm in Hartford.

I stayed here 15 years ago for two weeks and it was a pretty nice hotel then. Stayed again recently and it has gone way down hill. They are transitioning to a DoubleTree undoubtedly because the hotel is no where near “Hilton” banner standards. Feels old and run down. There were gnats in my bathroom, in the bar, everywhere. The kitchen menu is just stuff they warm up in the microwave. Won’t be staying again.

Great hotel downtown but rooms need a little TLC as they're somewhat dated. The front desk staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. Parking is located under the hotel in a garage with in/out privileges, but need to get your ticket stamped each time at the front desk. The breakfast in the hotel restaurant was simply pre-made and heated in the microwave sadly and not a dining experience but tables are available after ordering...usually Hilton has a great selection. This visit I was awakened by a fire alarm followed shortly after by a hammer drill above me removing ceramic tile. Glad the renovations are happening but highly suggest not starting at 8am with someone staying in the adjoining or u derneath rooms!

The gentlemen who worked the front desk on 8/9/23 at around 7 p.m. was amazing I was raveling for work and had a long exhausting day. He got me check-in no issues he went above and beyond. The hotel is a 3.5 but I'm giving a 5-star for service. Thank you!

I never checked into the Hartford CT property, had cancelled my reservation by phone 2 weeks prior and received a bill for $2,300. The general manager refused to refund my money, accused me of lying and was completely unprofessional! They never called me when I didn’t check in and I’m sure my room was sold to someone else. According to other friends who stayed that week, the property was under renovation and was very dirty! I’m a Hilton Honors Member but will never stay at another Hilton property! Very disappointing! Your GM needs some major customer service training!!!!

The hotel is in the process of being renovated. Our room was very nice, and we did have HOT water. The check-in and check out experience was good. The restaurant is not so good. The lady servers are excellent however the food not tasty at all. The food is prepared ahead of time and heated/cooked in some type of heating oven. Not sure of the bar experience. I would definitely return to this hotel if we are in the city again. But not eat there.

Stayed here in April 2023 for a wedding. The list of pros is short. Pretty much just the convenient location and parking (for a fee, which is normal for the city). Unfortunately many more cons. I tried calling the hotel several times ahead of my stay but their phone didn’t seem to be connected. The woman at the front desk didn’t seem to care when I notified her upon check-in. As we were getting changed on the morning we checked out, one of the housekeepers walked right into our room. She was apologetic, but it was really unprofessional. Shortly after, we saw a cockroach in the shower, which ended up crawling down the drain. I tried calling the hotel after our visit to let them know about our experience, but their phone was still not operable. Definitely will be going elsewhere next time. The entire experience was disappointing and unexpected for a Hilton property.

Stay anywhere else! We had no hot water the entire time we were there and were told to “wait 20-25 mins for it to heat up”. Previous reviews go back months mentioning this and despite the responses saying they are “taking action” obviously nothing has been done. The highway noise of downshifting trucks and all day construction did not help. To management, if the rooms do not have hot water DONT PUT PEOPLE IN THEM!!! Quite honestly have never experienced this and I’m not sure how they can justify putting people in rooms with no hot water and still charge almost $300 a night. The red roof inn has hot water for Pete’s sake. Staff was nice but overall will never stay here again.

6/27/2023 The place is a dump. Room A/C keeps going up to 86f. Had to call the front desk with my cell phone as the room phone did not work. Call the front desk from the cell. They do not want to move me, so they send a technician. The technician starts yelling at me and says, I broke the A/C. I said at 9p when I came in it was set to 76f, I lowered to 72f and is now 86f. I been up since 12.05a at 1.07a they gave me another room. My recommendation is to say away from this place. The cleaning crew starts screaming and knocking on each door at 8a "House Keeping", their goal if you are half a sleep so just tell them go away. Hence, they do not have yo provide service. They need new management and training for these people. They have No Clue that they are in the service business. Btw, I been have stayed at this location for over 5 yrs on business. I use to have a great review. I deleted it and created a new one.

VERY underwhelmed. This place has gone downhill since my first visit in 2019. The rooms appear to be slightly refreshed. However, the air conditioning system barely made the room tolerable for a summer night. The windows (even on the 11th floor) cannot block out kids yelling in the skate park below. Don't even get me started on how loud trucks and motor cycles are even from 100+ft above the ground. The top all that off, I get in a shower that is ice cold this morning. Not even a hint of warm water to help with shaving. They advertise the upcoming conversion of this in to a Doubletree. I don't think they are near ready for that or any other change. Fix what is there first please. Location is OK if you like minor league baseball and a good local food/bar selection. It was way more enjoyable outside of the walls of this property than within.

Pretty standard hotel rooms. My room was near the highway, so that was a large part of my view, and it was easy to hear. Luckily, I am a heavy sleeper so it did not stop me from getting to sleep.

Paying $19 for parking for one night was way too much! The bed could have been better; the sheets were ok. Front desk was busy and only had one person, but she was doing well, leading the rush. The layout of the room was not well thought out, but the room was clean.

  • 2/5 Jacob D. 1 year ago on Google
Positives first: front desk was incredibly friendly and helpful. Negatives: For $250 a night it wasn’t up to standards. Outdated rooms. AC vent intermittently put off vibration noises. Killed a massive moth near bedside. Faucet was loose and iron was janky. Amenities must be 30 years old. Looking at management on this one…

This is probably the only bad experience I’ve ever had at a Hilton property. I liked how the hotel was walking distance to everything and they allowed me to check in early but that was about it. The rooms were dated and there were no microwaves in the rooms. I was there for 3 days and no one came to clean my room and I didn’t realize you have to request for them to clean your room until the third day and I was reading the reviews. The phone in my room did not work and I tried using my cell to call downstairs about 5 times and I kept getting a busy tone. Please do better Hilton

First I would like to say that the staff was courteous and my room was clean upon arrival. Other than that I was very disappointed in the Hilton as I expect more of this brand. For the price I paid for a five nights day service was disappointing to say the least. I asked for housekeeping on night three for the next day and sadly when I returned to my room it was in the same condition. My request was put in more than 24 hours in advance and I had to end up calling guest services for fresh towels. I feel for a five nights stay the least they could do is provide housekeeping upon request. The website indicates airport shuttle but this service is not available. The website also shows pictures of a nice dining area with Buffet however this is also not available and to say they have a restaurant on site is a joke. They do offer to go items. Also many businesses have not returned in the area near this hotel which is inconvenient if you're not using a rental car. Hilton, I really expected more.

Beds and staff were nice, room service gives you what you ask for, I didn’t go to the pool but it looked clean and there’s a gym next to it. Katara was very helpful in switching our rooms and knew a lot about the city. Herb n’ kitchen has a nice snack bar but not many breakfast options, a lot of drinks though.

We had a bit of apprehension visiting Hartford in general and happy to say were proven utterly wrong! Just like the city, this Hilton dates back to different times. The hotel, however, is immaculately kept. Rooms are comfy and the service is attentive and superb! Breakfast service still carries a heavy Covid imprint and consists of prepackaged warmed-up meals, fresh pastries, and coffee. The packaged foods were as good as packaged foods get, though, and reasonably priced; the only complaint is that the line can get a bit long. Our billing had no surprises, the gym and swimming pool were fully functional, and parking was safe and easy! Thank you.

Good hotel but the fruit flies are crazy. Can use microwaves in the rooms and they should service the ice machines and perhaps offer free breakfast for the price. Slight problem with drug users on the side of the building.

Had some issues while checking in. Whatever computer system they were using seemed to be causing problems for them. The woman that was helping me kept getting frustrated and kept asking for help. Finally she tells the woman I can't do this and walks away. Leaving only 1 person there to take care of 2 lines. That was really the only issue on our whole stay. The room was clean, spacious and the bed was very comfortable. There was a large stain on the carpet of the room. Maybe have the carpet shampooed sometime. The bathroom was clean and had plenty soap, shampoo, lotion, and conditioner. All in all it was a positive experience. Highly recommend this hotel if you are in the area.

This hotel was OK but nothing exciting. The rooms were clean but small and somewhat dated and worn. There's no restaurant or continental breakfast -- the "breakfast" is a few sausage sandwiches in a fridge you can buy and heat up yourself in the microwave. They seem to be short on staff right now (though the staff were doing their best), and the line to check in was incredibly long). I will say the indoor heated pool was really great -- my kids had a blast swimming.

I will tell you something that travel agents don't want you to know about. When reserving places use ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙᴜʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏᴍ They've got the best deals on resorts! Much better than using orbitz, priceline, hotwire. That is for sure!!! Very clean, friendly, and safe. They keep the front door locked at all times so that only guests can come in the building. Great views of Hartford and beyond. Slightly pricey but hey it is what it is.

Nice clean rooms and helpful staff but the plumbing in our room wasn’t draining (see photo) and also there were loud children having a party and blasting music pst 11:30pm. Front desk was no help in solving the loud noise issue.

We stayed at the Hilton Hartford two years ago and everything was fine. This year the Hilton has adapted to the huge downturn in the economy due to COVID-19. Two years ago, the neighborhood was thriving and on a definite upswing. Now the neighborhood is like a ghost town. I estimate between 50 and 75% of the businesses are closed, apparently permanrntly. I congratulate the Hilton for remaining open and for keeping up the standards while responding to the realities of the pandemic. A note to those reading this-- the restaurant in the Hilton is now closed, and that is a shame because there are so few places to eat left that are still open in this neighborhood. I wish the hotel the best.
