I used to bring my customers here because the service and environment was awesome! I came here with customers on the weekend and took me FOREVER to get drinks and guess what? They were wrong! ALL bartenders were taking shots and drunk! I had to get my own garnishments! I Can do the same at home. Never again!

Not really liking how all of a sudden there is charges for using a card as well as extra charges. Was not even notified there was now extra charges. Like why?? 😒 has always been one of my fave places. I’d rather tip the increase amount. Update: They have hired a lot of new faces, unfortunately some of the new ppl are rude and lack customer service. After several experiences of rude customer service I am starting to come to the conclusion I might need to find a new bar after 8+ yrs of being a regular here. New update: due to the cook (black guy,unsure what his name is but is at the bar on Monday)that randomly be selling food outside (food not even properly kept) I will no longer be giving this place my business. He is extremely rude, condescending and feels like he only likes to serve his friends/ppl he knows. I guess forgets he ain’t nobody other than an employee that makes money off customers. Guess him bartending has gotten to his head. How sad this place is going down due to unprofessionalism. Would rate it 0stars after the experience tonight. Update 10/23: thought about stopping by and seeing if anything changed and no. The dude that works the door now is extremely rude. Not only did he try and accuse me of my purse being suspicious, but he profiled me, there was other ppl walking in and he paid no attention to them. Not only was he busy on his phone playing video games( as in the video) he was comfortable sitting in the couch and later walking away as he was on the phone. Definitely more disappointed as we had purchased a bucket of beer as well.

Great vibe to this place! We went in around 8 pm on a Friday and things were laid back with an excellent, attentive staff. Love the comfortable couches inside and out. Stayed for a bit then kept exploring downtown. We came back around midnight and wow the party was jumping! Great experience both times and completely different. Would highly recommend! had a Cockroach in my Coke! no apologies but only denial! all the bartender did say was "our place doesnt have cockroaches" - felt like he was blaming me for it. no reduction on the bill or excuses.. in general the staff seemed rude. bar tenders arrogant, bouncers would involve themselves into the conversation with your friends. this place is shabby. I assume since dark inside, you cant see all that dirt. but luckily I took the coke outside and could see something was swimming in the glass.. its a good place though if you arent from there and look to have some conversation with other ppl been some time since my last review on google, but felt this experience is worth to spend some time and warn others. be warned! if you visit the place, order only bottled beer or a bottle which you open up yourself! dont order ice cubes or anything else! frankly, dont understand all the good reviews. maybe all drunk and did not realize what happens around?

Great cozy place to be. Spend some time. Have a drink and a beer. Selection is good too. Easy staff. And they have the Union mobile app for tab payments. Love love.

Great place, chill atmosphere. Love it’s a old Iconic Houston store made into a bar. Front display windows of the old store are now couch patios. Great for people watching! You can even sit at a table in the old elevator shaft with closing door. Bathrooms take a little thinking one has a key one the door the other a lock for the key. Hint key goes into lock LOL Vintage couches set up in separate sitting areas against a beautiful cedar wall. Great Happy hour specials! Kareoke was great !

Dark and cozy. The third oldest elevator in Houston is tucked away in the seating area of Dean’s. Come sample drinks and sit in the old style sofas while looking back at old Houston architecture.

They’ve hired new people who lack customer service, specially the fat girl with green hair. I had a very unpleasant interaction with her, she was super rude and condescending. The employees have this “I can’t be touched” attitude and treat patrons like trash. Don’t waste your hard earned cash here, there are other places on Main that offers better service & drinks.

I enjoyed Dean's. Me and my friends got out a little late and this was one place that was still open!! The music was good, and the drinks were good. It was a nice atmosphere and we'd definitely go back if we were bar crawling again!!

First time coming into Deans after a ride downtown & I had the best experience! As soon as I sat down I was greeted by a lady named Gladys. I wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted or what I was in the mood for so for a few minutes after Gladys asked me a few questions of my preferences she made me a damn good drink. She wasn’t rude, didn’t rush me, and continuously checked on me throughout my time there. I’ll be back after another ride & I’ll be making my friends join.

I’ve been here with friends several times. Last month, the bartender, a tall white woman, was nice and friendly. Today, the bartender, a white man with blonde hair, who initially seemed cool, denied us service after 3 drinks because we hadn’t tipped him yet. Usually, my friends and I tip on the last round, which we mentioned, to which he said, “No, I’m not serving you. It’s too much.” This man also talked about me and my friends to other customers in front of us as if we weren’t there. After he did that, we still chose to stay. I will not be coming back. I was even going to post a TikTok tonight in support of this business because like the other people in these comments are saying, it’s a vibe, but I will no longer be doing that either.

I love Houston History and this place had one of the oldest elevators in the city! And GREAT Drinks!

This place was perfect for a fun night out. The ambience was chill and the drinks were delicious. The best part was that the bartenders were all really nice and attentive. Will return!

I walked in after concert and sat down at the bar to be ignored but it was a beautiful place to be ignored I guess??? Not exactly sure what that was about that every single person around us which was 2 people, got recognized and were able to patronize The Establishment but we were not for some reason... took our money elsewhere and had a great time!

Came here 10/16/21 on a Saturday night. We are from Dallas and it was our first time out in Houston. I walked in because the DJ was playing a song I liked. Let me tell you!! my boyfriend and I had so much fun! The bartender made really good drinks! The DJ was AWESOME. I like ALL kinds of music and he managed to play almost every single genre that night!! Love this place and will be back next time we visit Houston!

Literally such a beautiful, creative & unique spot I loved every level of it too to bottom & i especially loved playing chess with Glen!!! How awesome was this spot for a wonderful Sunday evening. I can’t wait to go back!

Came here by accident just walking around downtown. Started off slow but picked up quickly. Had a problem with drinks, but Gladys took over and made my night. Had a great time because of her. I'll try it again if I see her in there. Over all it was good, great atmosphere, good music, and fun people.

Be careful of sexual harassment! When my friend and I first arrived and got a drink, quickly this girl came over to us looking for help and an escape as a guy had been touching her from behind at the bar and saying weird things to her. We went outside together and told the bouncers who did nothing… Later on I went to the bar to get another round of drinks, I was shoved by a drunk guy who thought I was too close to him into another lady who then freaked out as her drink was spilt. The bar was packed, everyone was next to each other like sardines in the whole bar. the bar tender missed what had happened and asked them (not me). Next thing I know I am being removed by the bouncer, and I believe this was definitely racial. As an immigrant I have an strong accent and look, and She did not want to hear my story, everyone else was obviously American. Long story short- They won’t remove creeps and harassers, but removed me over a misunderstanding.

Dope little spot on the heart of downtown..great drinks,and awesome bartender.. the DJ is always on point and when there's a event. Expect some cool vendors and eats.. Sit outside on the patio and experience everything downtown houston had to offer..

This is our go-to spot whenever hubby and I kick it downtown. We never plan to go, but we always end up there. NYE was lit! Music , Drinks, Vibe 🙌🏾

Love it, an all time fave, the bartender is always super chill, the only bad thing on Xmas their front heater was messed up so it was a little chilly in there. love the haunted old decor old fashions are the best

Nice atmosphere, very relaxed. Was there for the anime pub crawl. Great bartenders! Dean's had the best tasting theme drinks out of all the participating places, too! I will be returning 🤗

I had a great time here. Loved the Friday night dj he was jamming!! A good dj definitely plays music you didn't know you wanted to hear so salute to him. Also the bartender was so sweet and funny. Drinks were good as well

Dark interior lighting along with loud music in a bland wooden coffin. The outside patio area is great with it's range of comfortable seating is nice but again couches outside only go so far. Honestly saw nothing special here
