Don’t do it. This DoubleTree is not on brand. The rooms are not spacious at all, everything is outdated and the warm cookies were thick like Popeye biscuits and tasted like hockey pucks. Definitely not the standard that I was used to or DoubleTree has gone down significantly. We booked through a 3rd party, for the same price you could stay at the Intercontinental which is a tad bit better. This experience felt like a very low budget holiday inn or comfort suite’s experience and I’m still mad about those cookies. Ain’t no way I would stay here again. Thankfully it was just for one night. One the tub wasn’t clean and the bathroom vents were caked with mold. Slept with our clothes on.

The only reason worth being at this place is to visit the restaurant. Edil, Maria, and everyone else that works in the restaurant and bar took care of me and my daughter as if we were their friends. The coffee was always hot and fresh, and every one their food recommendations were delicious. They get all the stars I am giving for this review. The rest of the hotel lacks, unfortunately. The first morning housekeeping knocked on the door, said "housekeeping," then seconds later just walked in. I was in the bathroom half-dressed, she said "sorry" and then continued to stand there and look at me like I was the one that should leave. The next day when we needed garbage cleared and fresh towels, they didn't visit the room at all despite seeing me leave. Beds are old and lumpy, the bathroom floor had hair and accumulated dust behind the door, under the sink, and around the toilet, and the carpet hadn't been vacuumed in a while. No microwave or refrigerator. Everyone working at the front desk could use a professionalism refresher course, everything seemed like a big joke to them. Not even a cookie at check-in...for $200+ a night this place is a disappointing ripoff. Go to Holiday Inn Express, it is more like a Hilton compared to this one.

Worse Hilton experience by far. Parking is terrible. Chose self parking. Paid $52.21 for 3 days. The spots aren’t even guaranteed In the parking lot after you pay. Had to park half of our vehicle on the grass and pavement. Seem as if they are just collecting money and don’t care whether you safely get a parking space or not. Cleaning is very terrible, the tub was so clogged in the king bedroom we had to clean it out ourselves so we wouldn’t be washing in other peoples hair and filth. Spoke to the front desk and they were very nonchalant. Won’t be visiting this location ever again.

Overall visit was okay — Average experience. Phone Line: Very confusing. Attempted to order towels multiple times and the staff kept hanging up in my face. Cleanliness: Bed had hair and stains all over it. Floors were not vacuumed. Pet friendly: Loved that they allowed pets. Mine is tiny, doesn’t bark, and sleeps all day. So no issues there. But there isn’t a designated pet area for bathroom breaks. If you walk to the right of the complex, there is an area. So, not too bad. Parking: Whew. Not good. Very tight area. To be expected, it downtown. But paying for parking and there is no where to park is unfair to guests. Overall: Affordable. Good location. Decent rooms; design is much older than what I selected online. But it’s doable for a quick weekend trip. Staff up front was respectful. Rewards program available. Good hotel for a short term/ quick turn around stay.

My family and I have been staying here on and off for over a year now and every stay has been satisfactory. Everyone has been so kind to my parents during their visit, that it warms my heart to know they are well taken care of during their stay. Whatever needs or changes are wanted, they try their best to accommodate and usually succeed. From the managers there in the office, to the front desk staff, to the restaurant staff, and the cleaning staff, we thank you for your great service!

It wasn’t good at all! This is our 5 times to stay here. The construction work going on was absolutely horrible. The hallways were dirty. The elevators were dirty and it was very loud and noisy. My husband had a procedure at MD Anderson , he could not rest for two days because of the noise and the construction. Very overpriced. The snack shop is overpriced and so it’s the restaurant. I don’t think when you’re staying at a motel that you should have to pay for additional parking. I was not the only one complaining about how dirty and how noisy it was talked to several of the guest that day.

I wish I could give 0 stars. I stayed here for 2 nights/3days. On the second day the housekeeper emptied out my room and stole my jewelry. I came back to my hotel to find that everything was gone. I was able to get my clothes back from the lost and found but my expensive/meaningful jewelry was gone and they were not remorseful at all! “Sorry, the housekeeper shouldn’t have done that”. That’s it? For my inconvenience and the loss of my sentimental jewelry??? Unacceptable! Not to mention being woken up by construction work and the brown water! Would not recommend

Please read! Go to the Hyatt House Houston Medical Center (5 star) We arrived at this hotel after booking a handicap room with 2 queen beds. It was not a handicap room, he could not get his chair between the beds, or get into the bathroom. There is not enough parking for this hotel, bad area, dark, no security. They only had one cart that was next to impossible to push….the ballet was out in the parking lot smoking and chatting for 45min. While elderly people struggled to get there things in. Their cookie truck blocked the area to park for handicap to unload. The water was shut off for over 5 hours…..people staying here were prepping for surgery without water. The hotel never told us they were under construction charging full price for this filthy hotel and risking people’s lives. Shame on the Hilton for allowing this! I immediately had to make calls to get my family member out of this hotel! I called the Hyatt Place Houston Medical on Fannin St. They not only had a Handicap suit for 2 days at a better rate than the Doubletree. Clean, beautiful everyone was so helpful and went out of their way to make are stay amazing after what we encountered at the Doubletree. Amazing staff. Please never ever use this Doubletree go to the Hyatt! I wish the health department would shut this place down.

Staff was very nice and helpful except for one lady cleaning rooms who denied me Xtra towels. No bathroom available in the lobby due construction and water was cut off 11:00pm--4:00am. No microwave or fridge in our room.

Not happy at all. Hotel was noisy, too much construction work disrupting sleep of several guests including myself. Breakfast buffet priced at 20$ is a total waste of money.terrible with no variety and 1 stale fruit. You could probably get a better breakfast at a motel. Lost an item at the hotel and was asked to submit an online report after which no efforts were made to contact me or follow up on the report. Staff lazy and does the absolute minimum to get through the day. Poor customer service. The only good thing about this hotel is it's location, everything else it pretty terrible. Avoid

I've been here a week now, and I love this hotel. Great location, great service very friendly staff. The breakfast lady Maria is the absolute best, she deserves a raise. She makes sure everything is perfect. She even called my room to make sure everything was correct when I ordered room service. Housekeeping made sure everything was clean. Guest Service Representatives are so wonderful I can't remember their names but they are all so sweet and understanding. The manager was so wonderful he allowed me to extend my stay at the last minute without any problems. I love the cookies too. Thanks for the hospitality. So if you are ever in Houston's Medical center I definitely recommend the Double Tree Hilton.

Stayed at this hotel when we were visiting M.D. Anderson. The staff was super friendly. The morning shuttle driver is super friendly and attentive to medical patients' special transportation needs. I would definitely stay again and recommend!

Be aware of hidden fees. 20 dollars a night for limited parking, 50 bucks a night for "incidentals", that will be refunded in 3-5 business days after check out. Remodeling currently going on, which is severely needed. Better places to stay, for around same price.

Arrived and was told the water would be off from 10-4 from Monday- Friday while the water was being worked on. In addition, the pooled was closed. We were not warned of this when we made the reservation. We first learned of this when we arrived to check in after we had already unloaded our luggage so of course we stayed. The next day after getting back to the hotel we asked for more water and was told that we had to ask for water during the hours of 10-4. About that time the manager walked up and the lady at the desk changed her demeanor and gave us some water this time. Felt very uncomfortable bothering the desk lady for things like coffee and cups and such. We will not be choosing this hotel on our next visit to Cancer Center.

Being in the customer service industry, as a traveler for your career it takes a toll on your family and especially your body . The Hilton Honors Program always helps when traveling. We Always read the reviews at hotels to have somewhat of an idea when your there to have a chance to relax to get ready for the next day, and we usually stick with 1 or 2 hotels in each city we travel to. You are all in the hospitality industry, reading these reviews, there definitely needs a change in leadership and a restructure of personnel. This was a perfect location for our work in this area , I’ll just take our 24 reservations and go down the road . Thank you Erin Mahone and all the recent reviews this helps myself and my company.

Convenient downtown location. We scored an upgrade with a small kitchenette, microwave and mini-fridge. The room was comfortable. The bed was comfortable and the service was great. The only reason I scored them 4 out of 5 was that house keeping could've done a better job of cleaning. It just wasn't really clean. The coffee maker had a used coffee pod in it from the previous guest and house keeping only had stocked one regualar coffee and several decaf coffee pods. We did pick up more regular coffee pods at the front desk. The other downgrade was that we were overcharged for one extra day for the room and parking. I had to call accounting and get it all straightened out so everything is good thanks to Tori in accounting, she was great. The restaurant downstairs was nice for breakfast but the price for two of us to have the breakfast buffet was $41.81 charge to our room, kinda expensive even for a restaurant but the restaurant service was really top notch and the buffet was good. All in all I would stay here again and do recommend the Double Tree by Hilton.

The people were wonderful. Having the medical rate which included parking and breakfast was amazing! The only issue was a night manager that was not nice and deleted my reservation/confirmation. The lobby staff overcame except for a $15 coffee charged to my caretaker. I would stay there again; just making sure who I was talking too. Apparently that gentleman had a reputation as 2 lobby staff knew who I was talking about without using names.

I was in Houston for business. I stayed here for the night. From the moment I arrive, until I checked out in the morning the service and staff were polite and helpful. The room was very clean and in excellent condition. I slept like a rock that night. The shower was hot and very clean. This is worth the price. Great job!!!

The staff was super friendly and very helpful. The room was good. It was clean but it feels a little outdated with some of the furniture. I would give more stars but my reservations were made and when I arrived I found out my king room was sold out and I was placed in a queen double room. The staff were great about it and normally I would not mind however, how can you take reservations for a room and then they sell it out??

This is really an old building. Stayed at their suite. We didn’t have hot water the night we came there. Tried to call the front desk but ALL of our landlines do NOT have a dial tone. Had to literally come downstairs to talk to them in person again. Their beds have a big hole on the head board so my pillow always slip on it. Didn’t get to sleep properly. Breakfast was expensive but it was included in our stay. The server has five star service! Had to pay extra for daily parking ($19). Only two burners were working on our stove. No daily water bottles included. Small gym. No bell boys. And had only one cart for bags that we didn’t get to use when we arrived.

We were here in business at MD Anderson and needed to eat somewhere after a long day and walked over the Double Tree. It was just after 9 and the restaurant had closed. The manager and bartender were so so kind to whip us something to eat and drink. We enjoyed our food and drinks after a long day. We will definitely book our next stay here due to the amazing service we received. Thank you so much for going the extra mile!!!

Super friendly staff, clean establishment, easy parking. I really appreciated that the concierge texted me once I was in my room and I was able to text back to request extra pillows. The room was very spacious and had a mini kitchen with pots, pans, plates, and a two burner stove. Overall it was just a really nice experience and we were super pleased with the stay.

Excellent service. Rooms were clean and well done. I especially appreciated the wonderful caring service provided by my shuttle driver "Rowdy". His genuine warmth and caring towards each person riding on the shuttle (please note this hotel is located in the medical district and all passengers were headed for medical appointments) along with his efficiency in handling any special needs such as wheel chairs was simply outstanding. Plus, he delt with the nonstop traffic in such a positive manner that we barely noticed it. It certainly made the experience much better for all.

Had some appointments at the medical center, hotel was a good value. Rooms were very dated. Our first night our room had failing safety devices and several cut / trip hazards. I brought it up with staff and was moved rooms. Very convenient shuttle service available. Dining options were terrible. Impossible to get service and prices were very high. Several good food options nearby. Will not stay at this property again.

The staff was very professional and the hotel is clean, with a great location, beautiful views. I was disappointed in the kitchen with the old appliances and lack of utensils. It's just an older hotel that needs some updating. Especially the furniture in the living room and also the televisions need updating.

The room we were in was very nice. It had a decent kitchenette with a nice range, decent size fridge with a working ice box, and the beds were fairly comfortable. I only had two complaints. The first is minor and that is not enough ventilation in the bathroom so it fills with steam during even short showers. The second is a little bigger. There is not enough self parking. Don't come back too late, or you will have to valet park, and don't park too close if you have to leave early, or you will have to ask the valet to let you out.

For the first couple of minutes, I couldn't understand why there were low reviews. My room was clean, and I thought the staff was very friendly and helpful given the situation they were dealing with with the renovations. But then as time moved on, I can see why reviews are low. I'm a diamond lifer and I've stayed at a lot of double trees and this one is not up to par. I'm totally shocked that there are no microwaves in the room, or at the very least, a communal microwave downstairs. The water in the shower is warm but not hot. And the worst part is that the market was completely empty the whole 3 days I was here. Nothing to drink or snack on. I had to walk on the other side of the parking lot to the Pizza Hut just to get a drink. Like others have said, the breakfast is incredibly overpriced. And in the evening, they have one guy taking care of the entire area. He did his best and he was very friendly, but the wait was long to place an order. Again, I expect more from a DoubleTree...

Stayed here for two separate stays within two weeks while receiving medical care. Hotel is still under renovation but hotel front desk staff explain working hours and what to expect. Bar and restaurant on main floor is in temporary, unappealing room for now, but that is a minor inconvenience. We were in a renovated suite for both stays. Very nice finishes and clean and comfortable. Big bonus was a chair recliner in the living room that worked to sleep in after shoulder surgery. All staff are very friendly. On-site self-parking at $20 per night. We plan to stay here whenever visiting Houston Medical Center.

  • 2/5 Christopher N. 5 months ago on Google
The construction is clearly effecting the hotel negatively. The lobby and elevators are dirty and spell like it. $20 for parking, I understand that this is the medical district but charging your customers to park is ridiculous. I would have gone elsewhere if I knew it was like that. No continental breakfast. And the breakfast they do have is over priced. It really feels like the are just squeezing you for money. I regret staying here. The room is relatively clean, how ever the light switch is very gross and the lock on the door is damaged. The nice thing about this place was the staff. They are kind and attentive. The location is the main reason to stay here.

Pros:Friendly staff, reasonable rates, convenient location, spacious rooms, good amenities. We had a long term stay and had to call maintenance a couple of times… they were prompt and resolved the issues very quickly! Cons: Living room sofa was in very sad shape… definitely needs to be replaced. House cleaning services were a bit stingy replacing coffee packets and cups… we often had to ask for more.

Don't expect hospitality at this property. No smiles, no assistance indifferent to issues raised. For example my shower was lukewarm and I requested that I have a hot shower for the following morning which did not happen, in fact they denied that there was anything wrong with their water which was probably at the hottest 105°. The tub slants away from the drain. Also don't expect a property that is suited for occupation at this point. They're under construction with drills and hammers pounding relentlessly. The beer they served at my request had an expiration date of December of 2021. I asked for directions and they didn't know where things like the Methodist hospital, also like ( like the nearby metro line) so I asked what direction North was and the desk staff pointed 180° the wrong direction. I am a Hilton honors member and they stuck me in this room with dirty carpeting double bed, next to a room that was under renovation starting their construction 1 hour before the sign said they would be. My work schedule didn't allow me to check in before 2:30 in the morning which made for a short night. The shuttle is exclusive to those with medical appointments, no restaurant runs. This place should be taken off the double tree franchise membership. For a 2-day stay and the afternoon following my checking out I received this text message. "Just checking in--how is your stay going so far? Feel free to reply back with a 1-10 (10 being excellent). Have a great day! -Jazmin". When I brought matters to their attention there was no response. Desk staff are ill trained. AVOID

From the moment I walked inside the excellent customer service began. Starting with Ali greeting me at the door was nice and helping me with my things and the smile from Brittany that makes you feel welcome and her knowledge of the company helped me out a lot. I would recommend Double tree Hilton to my friends and family because if your great staff that I met today.
