Some good, some not so good. Definitely not worth the price of the room but still a very good hotel The good: -The woman at the front desk was awesome. Really kind and helpful and full of energy. - The location. Didn't need to use my car all weekend - everything was in walking distance, plus the hotel comped rental Bikes for us to use. -The Pool, Amenities. The bad: -The Toilet ran all night - Had to pay $35/night for parking. You'd think paying $300+ for a room they could comp the parking - I walked out of my room to go to the pool and there was about 15 police officers 2 doors down from us. They quickly diverted us the opposite way, but really didn't feel safe the rest of the night. We weren't told what was happening or given a new room. They were cleaning up the room for hours, and lets be honest, scary things have happened there before (check news articles) Overall - it was a good hotel. Not great, not bad. I could find a hotel just a nice for half the price, but the pool area, restaurants, bars directly in, or near the property was a plus since we didn't have to go far for entertainment.

My husband surprised me with a weekend getaway for my birthday last month. I didn’t think any hotel could compare to our visit to Jamaica last year, but let me tell you this was pretty close. Customer service was great! They have several restaurants within the hotel from casual to semi formal dining. The terrace with heated pools was absolutely amazing and relaxing. We were able to walk across the street to Discovery Green Park and go ice skating. I enjoyed our romantic getaway and will visit again.

The moment my car stopped there was a person opening the passenger seat of my car. In a car with my pregnant wife and 3 kids this was unexpected and unwelcome. Another person opened my trunk and motioned that they were going to take my bags. I asked them not to assist stating that I would get my bags. They proceeded to begin removing things from my car. I tried to take the bag cart to my room and was stopped and informed I’m not allowed to operate a baggage cart and that only bell hops can do so. I proceeded to head to my room with a bell hop following uncomfortably close behind (probably 3-4 ft). This was all together a very uncomfortable and unwelcome experience. In preparation for check out I spoke to the manger, Rob, asking if I could take a baggage cart as I do not want assistance with my bags. He told me that if I wanted a baggage cart that I would accept the assistance of the bell hop or I could carry my baggage for 5 out on without the assistance of a cart. I asked where the nearest mens restroom with a changing table was so I could change my daughters diaper. Changing tables are only in woman's rest rooms. No one offered any ideas on how I proceed, just started blankly until I walked away and handed her to my wife to change. The room is very small. There is no good workspace in the room. The lazy river is emptied. The shape of the shower is such that if you open the shower door while the water is on (like if you let it warm up before stepping in) it sprays on the door causing the water to get all over the bathroom. And when you let go of the shower door it slams waking everyone in the room. I stay at hotels often. This is the worst experience in memory.

This is not a review about staff. This is for the ownership! This is NOT a luxury hotel. More like 3 star hotel. Rooms and bathrooms' are small. Could not sleep because it was loud outside - you can literally hear everything outside. paying >300$ for a motel like room. YES the pool area is amazing and lobby is great but the rooms are super ugly and if you are luxury traveler I would not recommend this place. LOL they charge for TOWELS !!!! i have never seen a hotel charge for towels. They have a worst food on the planet so no point of getting a food credit. I am a Marriott Loyal Customer and this thoroughly disappointed me. Hire more people at the valley to pick up the phone.

Everything about our stay here was phenomenal. The rooms were extra tidy. The beds were comfy. It was too cold to go for a swim, but the pool looked incredible. We also made the mistake of leaving both room keys in our room. The front desk was helpful and had us back in our room in no time! I location was great. Easy walking distance to tons of places in downtown Houston. Next time I'm in Houston I will definitely stay here again.

Don't get me wrong the hotel is nice, but good luck getting to bed at a good time with the unsanctioned "car shows" in the adjacent parking lot. They were revving engines, doing burnouts, and partying til the AM three nights of our stay and I come to learn it's a regular thing. When asking the staff if anything could be done they brushed it off. I'd stay at the Hilton down the street to avoid it if I were you. I will say the pool is phenomenal though.

We paid 570$ for a room with a pool view. The view was very nice, but the room models something a little better than what you'd get at a comfort inn. The hotel is very nice with a lot to do around it . If you stay here be prepared to spend a lot of money. Everything costs something extra. For 570$, we got a room and 25$ to use to spend at the bar or restaurant. Two drinks are the pool bars cost 35$. The beds honestly are not that comfortable, and the pillows are way too soft. So again you are really paying for the fancy feel of the hotel and it' a great location to everything. Also the very nice pool as well. If you drive here be prepared to spend a lot of money. We parked at the parking garage attached to the hot, l and it cost 76$ for 21 hours of parking. Hopeful anyone reading this money isn't an object, and you have a great time . To anyone who likes to get more for their money, pick a cheaper hotel and Uber . You will have a better time and more money in your pocket to actually enjoy the city.

The staff was beyond amazing and in my opinion they are what made this hotel such a pleasure for us to stay in! Upon check-in, Elisa and Andrew at the front desk both went above and beyond to make us feel very welcome and comfortable with our stay as they were super friendly and full of good energy and eagerness to help with accommodations since we did early check-in. The bartenders at High Dive were beyond awesome as well! We visited High Dive every day of our stay (which was 4 days) and Aliza, Terri, Ben and Sebastian were definitely the dream team behind the bar and treated us so well.. they were super attentive, fast and had high energy that was so contagious! We loved how clean our room was as well as our city view, how nice everything looked inside and outside of the room, how attentive all the staff were, as well as the overall location of the hotel! We will definitely be staying here again! Thank you for having us.

I truly enjoyed the property itself. It is a beautiful property with a great location. The lounge (for platinum guests and above) is very nice, but only open for breakfast on the weekends (which is the norm), so I didn't experience everything the lounge had to offer, but I did enjoy the breakfast. The Texas shaped lazy river was fun for adults and kids alike. If you do spend time at the pool make sure to keep your wrist band on at all times. They will make sure you have it on. The only downside to this hotel was the service. That is the only reason I could not give 5 stars. They were professional upon check in and gave us a room with a great pool view, but going to the pool we wanted to order some drinks and food. We sat at a table for 20 minutes and never had anyone say hi or I will be with you. We watched the people around us get served, but they never helped us even after stopping more than one server. They spent more time chasing us down about a wrist band than giving any type of service. If you need anything I recommend going and waiting in line at the bar. Overall I would return to this property for the location and entertainment, but I have been to better Marriott properties.

I had such a great time with at the Marriott. This was my second stay and enjoyed the hotel. Last time we came we were not able to enjoy the pool and this time we booked during July 4th. It was amazing, especially after we met one of the venue organizers, Duane. He was amazing and made us feel at home. He gave us a quick tour of the entire pool. He is such a great vibe and really help us enjoy our trip. Love this hotel and will be coming back and recommend to friends!

We booked our stay at the Marquis Houston for my birthday and I will do it again! The staff was very polite and helpful, my suite was perfect for the occasion, I received mimosas upon arriving to my suite, the pool was incredible and our server Hannah was the highlight of our stay! Her cheerful personality made my stay much more pleasant. I am so grateful for her energy because that was exactly what I needed to have the most WONDERFUL experience at the Marquis. Thank you Hannah hope to see you again when we come back.

I had great experience staying at this hotel for an event. Room is clean and comfortable and staff is friendly. Ms. Valerie at the front desk went over and beyond in answering my questions and providing the assistance we need. In-hotel food ordering was also fast with very friendly staff members. The swimming pool area looks spectacular even though this is not the prime season for swimming. We had a great experience and would recommend.

Wow, my family and I were so disappointed. We took the family down to swim in the Texas pool. Tons of ladies were in thongs, and the swimsuit attire was interesting to say the least. IF there is a dress code it was not enforced. There was green mold on the steps too. The breakfast was delivered to our room, and it was basically a cheap continental breakfast that would be at a cheaper hotel. Nothing was homemade or anything special. There are homeless people all around, and they don't really keep them from approaching your vehicle right in the front where you car is parked by valet. It was an interesting experience for sure, and I know we won't be coming back to this hotel. It definitely didn't feel like a high end hotel at all.

Karen at the front desk is amazing! Incredibly personable and started our trip off on a friendly note, even when 3 conferences were checking in. We only had to wait about 1 minute. She took time to ensure we had a great room and let my kiddos pick out a toy at the front desk. Five stars for Karen! We also had a very helpful valet and bellhop. The bellhop had just started two weeks before and was incredibly courteous and kind! This is only a few hours into our stay and we’ve really enjoyed it!

-The only reason I gave this hotel two stars is because the location is great and the Texas shaped pool is amazing. This has to be one of the most over priced, poor service, horrible room service, horrible customer service hotels I have ever stayed at. Rooms were dirty and only the middle was clean. There’s only one microwave in the whole hotel. It’s located in the lobby only, why!? Also, No bell carts or luggage carts to make the long walk from the parking garage to the hotel. Staff was untrained or just didn’t care. What a waste for such a nice hotel. The whole Marriott experience was trash! This was one of the worst hotel stays I have ever dealt with.

Initial impressions with valet and the front desk were both commendable. In fact, our interactions with other staff at this hotel were remarkably pleasant also. I liked the dining options in the lobby area and also appreciated that there were a good number of other meal options nearby. The room was well laid out, clean and comfortable. With our visit being in the festive season, the renowned pool area was lavishly decorated with holiday lights and it was a delight to hang out there.

All I have to say is Texas Size POOL during Christmas! I love this hotel. Emily assisted me with a seamless check and provided excellent member services. It is fun and inviting for any occasion and all ages. The view is terrific from most rooms on the higher floors. It is right downtown, within walking distance from restaurants and bars, and most of all directly next door to Minute Maid Park.

I arrived on Jan 3, 2024 around 10pm. The front desk who checked me in was impatient and unwilling to help. I felt discriminated. She seemed to hate her job. It seemed that I interrupted her chatting with others. She failed to explain what are included in my stay. When I asked her for more details, she did not even look at me and just “hmmm”. The room itself is nothing like a 4 stars hotel. It is outdated and only provides the bare minimum necessities. There is not even free water machine on every floor. With the price I am paying, I am unhappy with the whole stay. I should stick with Hilton. Actually even La Quinta Inn will be better. The hotel’s exterior and lobby looks good. They have $25 daily food vouchers. But that’s all of its advantages.

My husband and I stayed the night at the Marriott Marquis. We were seeing show on Saturday night but were able to check in early and hang by the pool and in the lazy river. We were very warmly welcomed by Stephanie at the front desk, she also sent us a nice treat to our room. It was such a sweet surprise. I wish she was there when we checked out so we could personally thank her. We then hung by the pool and our server Kei was excellent and took great care of us and sent a nice note to our room before we checked out. Dewayne at the pool was also super attentive. The customer service and care we received was more then I could ask for. Overall we had a great time, we have stayed here before and will definitely stay again.

Lovely hotel. Parking for valet was a long wait or use $30 parking lot for 10 hours. I didn't stay in a room. I was a paying guest attending a sorority fundraising event. The servers and food was basic to mediocre at best. The event was great. The bartenders at cash bar were excellent even if the liquor selection was very limited. The elevators were fast and the restrooms were clean and plentiful. I spent too much money with the vendors the sorority had at the venue. But it was a good time and a fundraiser. I also didn't win the raffle ticket prizes but again it was a fundraising event. I'm so happy I attended.

The best way I can describe this hotel is that it’s fantastic when you’re awake, but not so much when you’re sleeping. The lobby is beautiful, there are several really great restaurants inside, a coffee counter that serves Starbucks, a little shop to buy snacks and essentials, a pool area and bar that feel like a resort, and a bunch of other amenities that I didn’t have a chance to experience. The location is good and within walking distance of things to do/places to eat. The rooms are decently sized and clean and the shower had plenty of hot water. However, it ends there. It’s INCREDIBLY noisy, both from inside the hotel (there’s a huge gap in the bottom of the door for some reason, so you hear everything going on in the hallway) and from outside (there seem to be trains and honking and street racing all night and you hear it all through the large window). The bed is not particularly comfortable, the pillows are lumpy, and the sheets aren’t very soft, so that doesn’t help either. I think if it weren’t so noisy, I wouldn’t have cared about the bed and the bedding, but it just added to my inability to get a good nights sleep and was very frustrating. Overall, my stay was fine, but I don’t know if I’d stay there again if work wasn’t paying for it unless there was a really amazing deal. I would definitely visit the restaurants again though!

Great hotel. I love the atmosphere, pool restaurants, all of it. It definitely has a classy vibe here. There is room for improvement though in the hotel rooms. The mattresses are very uncomfortable. It felt like sleeping on plywood wrapped in blankets. I'd recommend bringing your own pillow. The pillows are down feathers and seem to go flat when you lay your head down. Your head hits the mattress and the feathers poof up on both sides of your head in the pillow. The pool is awesome. Especially at night. They make delicious frozen drinks. The restaurants, all of them are delicious.

We were there for the Best Friend Conference, the hotel, staff, amenities were good. Everything for our conference was right there at the hotel so it w made it super easy. Had many restaurants in and around the hotel. The lazy river was so relaxing when we had down time. Would recommend this hotel. It is kid friendly also.

Our experience was great! The Hotel was pretty busy upon our arrival! We were able to get our room key within 15 minutes. The room was luxurious at best! The view of the lazy river in the shape of Texas was astounding! Room service was prompt and very accommodating to our request! The restaurants inside the hotel were a plus and added convenience to our stay! A+ from me!

My husband and I were in Houston for a concert and decided to stay for the night. This hotel is absolutely beautiful and the service is amazing. We met Karen at the front desk and she was an absolute delight. When she found out that it was our anniversary, she sent some champaign and delicious little cakes to our room with a very sweet note. The view was amazing from our room on the 28th floor, with a view of the Houston skyline and the amazing Texas shaped pool. The food and service in the restaurants was amazing as well. I can't wait to come back to this hotel again!

This was a last minute booking for us. We had family staying here for New Year’s and decided to use our suite nights rewards to book a room instead of heading back out to Katy. Checking in was very swift although parking out front was a little chaotic. Staff very friendly. Lounge was always stocked and easy to move around. Got a chance to see the holiday light display which was a plus. The Texas shaped pool was a huge hit. Going to be one of my faves for sure.

The incredible service is the only reason this hotel gets 4 stars. Everyone we spoke to was kind and genuinely happy to help. From the front desk to the hotel restaurants, we had very good service. My biggest qualm was the quality of the room. We were upgraded to a suite, which seemed really nice, but we encountered a few cleanliness issues. My kids slept on the pull-out bed and the sheet set smelled very strange. Since we got back to the room around 11pm after a concert, we just wanted to get to bed and not have to wait for a new set. I also laid on the bed for a bit with my son and it literally felt like a blanket on top of springs. I would not recommend sleeping on the pull-out at all. When my kids went to take a bath, we noticed a bunch of plastic and paper bunched up in the overflow drain by the faucet. I guess previous guests tried to stop it up so they could fill the tub higher! It made me question if any part of the bathroom was actually cleaned if housekeeping missed something like that. The location of this hotel is the only reason we chose it. But other than friendliness of staff, I wouldn't recommend staying here.

BIGGEST SCAM OF A HOTEL EVER!! DO NOT BOOK HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT LOSING MONEY! Yes the hotel is decently nice but not anywhere close to what they charge you. First of all, the hotel cost $630 for three nights, okay fair. But then I get to the hotel and they say they went ahead and added a 25$ “complimentary” charge every night so 75$. The wristbands to the event closed at 10pm so didn’t even get to see that. And then 75$ valet parking every night, totaling an extra $400 pretty much.

Posting this review late, we visited here on September 9-12, 2023. Overall, very satisfied with this hotel and everything it offered! We had a very nice room with a king sized bed and a good view. It was pretty cool to see the stadium roof get opened and closed in real time! No video unfortunately. Absolutely loved the lazy river! I spent a lot of time at the pool since my bf was at a convention most of the time. Weekends are crowded, so I recommend waiting until the weekdays to float in the lazy river because you'll most likely have it all to yourself! The only negative critique I have is for the elevators. They just need to be cleaned more often. After the first day, the floors in the majority of the elevators were very sticky, almost like people spilled drinks that never got properly cleaned up. I recommend visiting the sports bar in the hotel, especially to watch games! Service there was quick and bar staff was awesome even when it was slammed! The convention side was awesome! Very nice rooms that can accommodate very large groups. The hotel staff was very nice! Overall, a great experience and we'll be visiting again!

This is a new property in good condition. While it was difficult to get into one restaurant because of events at the nearby arena the food and service were good. My complaint and the reason for a less then stellar review is the parking situation. Locating the parking garage entrance is not easy. The signage is meager. Luckily there was an event going on in the nearby arena so there were people to provide directions. My biggest complaint is that the signage in the parking garage stinks. Good luck figuring out where the elevators are located. Two relatively small signs on a dim background. Luckily I was able to see the connections between the parking garage, hotel and convention center from my room so it was easier to find my car when I left. Thirty dollars per day is a steep price to pay for parking. The valet parking is even more expensive. I know the hotel doesn't own the parking structure but it needs to get better and more clear signs for its guests.

While beautiful and breathtaking, it has some problems with hearing others from the hall too easily. It’s pool and bar is absolutely amazing, but unfortunately closes at 10pm. They also need a snack area or snack machine for when the restaurants and bar are closed.

Beautiful building, but garbage customer service. When we checked in they didn't note that incidentals were even part of the fees, they barely explained all the extra details. When we asked about it they acted as if their time was too valuable to be bothered with our questions and just kept pushing us to pay for the rooms we've already booked, but they lost. We booked with an outside group and double checked with them that our reservations were made. When we arrived they had lost one of the rooms, up-charged the new room and were just plane rude. I wouldn't recommend anyone staying here with the type of service we were given.

It was a quick staycation to celebrate a birthday. Our room was clean and we had a pool view room. I highly recommend it as the view was beautiful. We didn't get a chance to try the other amenities but we will definitely go back. I'm in healthcare so I just needed a quick break from everyday life

This was definitely a great experience! Very lovely venue, working in the Texas Ballroom. The space was incredible for a large scale celebration such as wedding, which is what we worked here. A very easy venue to work with and extremely accommodating. Loved the staff. The entertainment provided by Karma DJs was exceptional. DJ Yogi really brought a great show and energy to the entire ceremony. The music and lighting all worked extremely well. I certainly to work this venue again.

There were not enough staff to handle the late night check in (11 PM). Went up to the floor and smelled weeds throughout the hallway. 10 min after going into the room, one of the hallway alarm came up. Tried to call front desk and hotel and no one picked up the call. Went downstairs and was told it is taken care of. But it is not. Being staying with Marriott for my business and personal trips worldwide for the past 10 years and I got really disappointed with the quality of service I received in this hotel. This is not the Marriott standard I should have received. Also, minutes ago, just realized one of the bed light is flashing. As no one picked up the phone for customer service, I simply gave up…… (I do not mean to rub it in but this is definitely one of the worst hotel staying experience I have to date)

Stayed here for a wedding and loved every minute. Many restaurants and bars within walking distance. The pool and lazy river were the perfect temperature during the summer heat. My partner and I were so surprised that the pool food was actually good - the fries were perfect. All the employees were friendly and helpful. The whole hotel remains in excellent condition. One of the best quality hotels I have ever stayed in. Definitely recommend!

I stay at the Marquis every time I’m in town. They are always very accommodating and the staff is very nice. Rooms are decent and the restaurants are good. Of course my favorite part of the hotel is the pool. Duane at the pools offers top notch service and always goes out of his way to make sure the guests have a great experience. I will definitely be back!

The hotel itself was beautiful, inside and out. The staff were wonderful in all aspects of our stay. We experienced one minor problem on our arrival, but the staff were courteous, sympathetic, and professional, and had us happy very quickly. The rooftop water features were nice and relaxing. The on site self-parking could really use some expanding, but the valet were an acceptable option, and were super friendly. It was also odd not having a microwave in our room, but definitely not a deal breaker. Overall, we had a fantastic experience, and we can’t thank the staff enough for all they’ve done.

Beautiful hotel. I didn't appreciate being charged for water I didn't drink but the pool experience outweighed any thing I didn’t like. The staff was really nice and the restaurants were amazing service inside each one was phenomenal! Even the gift shop attendant was awesome

5-star experience. I booked a room at the Marquis and was really well taken care of beyond what would normally be expected for having a high-status with Marriott. I am a frequent traveler with Marriott and over time, had spent enough nights with the hotel chain to have achieved Titanium Elite Status. This can be useful at times to enjoy perks like a hotel lounge or a space available upgrade. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by Cameron. I explained to her that this booking was for a special occasion. I was treating my parents to a little stay-cation for their upcoming anniversary and asked if there was an available upgrade for them. They do not travel often, and have never stayed in a suite. Not only did Cameron provide an upgrade, but it was to one of the best rooms on the property. A corner room with windows from east downtown all the way to the south, overlooking the Texas shaped pool. A handwritten note and bottle of champagne was also delivered which was an incredibly nice touch. My parents were overjoyed with the experience, and Marriott went out above and beyond to make this trip special for them. I will gladly continue to book Marriott for my business travels, and look to the Marquis first when staying in Houston.

Great views of the city, and good amenities. Loved the pool and lazy river. Spent some good time there. A properly grand entrance and good luxury rooms. Was there for a conference and that part of the hotel was also very nice and worth the "Marriott" name. If you can afford it, I recommend it.

As a Titanium Elite member, the Marriott Marquis Houston is one of my favorite Marriott hotels. The hotel is immaculate and has all the amenities you could want. I received an upgrade to a beautiful suite and loved the fitness center, Texas shaped lazy river and pool, and lounge. The restaurants on-site were delicious and other great options and activities are available within walking distance. The staff were friendly and attentive, and daily housekeeping was much appreciated. You won’t be disappointed with your stay here.

Our stay at the hotel was perfect! We spent two nights before we had to leave to the airport. We booked the same night, and the service was great. The reason why I'm giving four stars is because the food we ordered through room service is a little expensive for its quality. The food was cold and with no flavor. Other than that, everything was very peaceful and beautiful.

  • 2/5 pinc r. 1 year ago on Google
The location and the staff are the best part of the experience. The Texas sized pool was under maintenance but the rest of the outdoor pool area was nice. Loved the fire pit and fitness room near by. I would stay again, if the price is discounted, like it was this time. Otherwise, I prefer hotels with a microwave in the room, tea in the room (not just coffee), toilets that don't run, comfy comforters/sheet sets and something complimentary for guests (mints maybe? 1 bottle of water?).

Marriott Marquis Houston has an absolutely incredible venue to host a conference. The most accommodating hotel/ center I have experienced. From Karen at the front desk, to the restaurants, the pool deck, and ALL of the friendly, attentive staff, I was blown away by the attention to detail. We had an amazing experience! Marriott Marriott never disappoints. Excellent service and close to restaurants in the surrounding area.Thank you Marriott Marquis Houston for memorable event!

From the time I check it, it was a beautiful experience, my key didn’t work so I had to go down a couple times but once I got to my room and was able to change and head out to the 6th floor where the gym is to work out then hit the pool 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾. The hotel is beautiful. We came late November. They had the Winter Light Event going on, the hotel is connected to the sky bridge that leads to the convention center. Great customer service and clean rooms. The gym was amazing! (Stairmaster, Leg Press, medicine balls, etc. and beautiful views of the pool area and the city). They give you a $25.00 food & beverage credit to use in any of the restaurants or bars inside the hotel. - make sure to sue it before checking out otherwise it will be reverted. -1 Hour complimentary bike rental -2 free Winter Light guest passes included. -There is an outdoor Skating rink nearby during the Christmas season (less than a 5 minute walk). -20-25 minute drive from The Galleria mall. They have a hot tub, infinity pool, and Texas shaped lazy river. The Texas Shaped (heated) lazy river wasn’t that warm when we got there but it was still enjoyable. The customer service at the pool was great. The staff was very nice. If you enjoy taking pictures they have a lot of setups outside to take pics.

Def a 4 star hotel. The amenities are super nice and well kept. The gym has everything for push/pull days along with multiple cardio equipment. The pool is obviously nice. All of the pools are heated, there is the obviously lazy river, a hot tub and a pool. The pool and hot tube has the infinity illusion but is not an "infinity" pool since it doesn't touch the wall. You do have to to wear your bracelet and there are towels available. Ordering pool side is available during certain times. The rooms are nice; there is a robe and slippers waiting in the closet along with 2 small bottles of water to welcome you. Pillows are comfortable and do not flat easily. Parking is a complaint since you're already paying a little more for the hotel. Parking self park through the hotel is $40/night + tax or valet at $65. I had a situation with their house keeping but it was handled promptly. I probably would not stay here if it's $300+/night but anything below that would be fair value for the location and market value during peaked times.
