The castle is beautiful, but the surroundings, well... Hunedoara is an old industrial city, as a result, you can see an abandoned factory just near the castle. Desolating I would say. Again, the castle: the entrance fee is about 18 EUR for 2 adults and 2 children. Reasonable. There is even a torture room exposition, you can enter for about 2 EUR per adult and 1 EUR for a child (above 12 years). You can find junk food and souvenirs right at the entrance. What you can't see in photos in brochures or at their website: the castle in under construction, and many rooms are closed. Actually the castle in under construction since the last fire in 1854. The place should be visited and it's wonderful, but don't expect a 100 percent restored castle like in fairy tales.

Amazing castle ! Really impressive and nice views of the city . We walked threw the whole caste in 1 hour or so. I give it 4 instead of 5 because inside the rooms are empty or have very few furniture. It could be magnificent with period correct furniture and decoration. The city where the castle is located is average to poor. Has a nice pedestrians road for 500 Meters with around 10 restaurants on it. Other than that, very old and neglected at places.

Lovely castle, completely saved as it was, not commercialized like one in Bran which is more famous and more visited. Ticked is around 10 euros per person and you can go through whole castle. Lot of rooms, towers where you can go and explore. It was not crowded at all and allowed us to enjoy in this beautiful castle and his history. Parking is available little bit down the road, it is private parking but it is just around 6-10 lai per hour. Lot of small museums, souvenir shops.

The castle is beautiful, and it is worth visiting, but only one time if you are in the area. I think a long trip just to visit the castle is not a good idea. Also, the interior is in renovation and a great part of it is closed. However, the exterior of the castle is really beautiful.

A real life Hogwarts. The castle is amazing and also the view and nature around it. It is a great feeling to be there surrounded by medieval history. It is also a great spot to take amazing photos around the castle and also in it. You can find amazing info about medieval life and art. The price to visit it is very good, 35 lei (~ 7 €). Around the castle there are many shops where you can buy a lot of souvenirs.

Amazing place to visit in this city. Old but great application that you can download and listen different stories about castle. All castle is approachable and you can go to almost every corner. It is still in adaptation but I belive it will be amazing once it's done.

Just like the fairy-tale castle surrounded by water and bridge that you see in the movies. Big castle with many rooms (like in game of thrones) chapel and many others. This place is a must see. Make sure you download the app from iPhone or Android store to have free access to the 34 rooms with in a superb 3d presentation. They also offer civil weddings in the chapel.

This is obviously a most impressive medieval castle with epic features, especially when entering the main gate and yard. However I only give three stars because the inside/exhibition is not very exciting due to a lack of a proper concept and management it seems. Too little information or structure for my taste. It’s still a must visit place in Romania but i wish they would reconsider a nice story and concept for the castle as a whole

There are hundreds of different reviews detailing the mighty castle and it’s beauty. I want just to add the fascinating location of the castle, surrounded by the remains of the biggest steel complex of the communist era, the XIV century castle survived almost 700 years. Also, you will notice the exquisite conversion of some industrial buildings into hotels or restaurants and, together with the communism private(sic) museum nearby, it will give you a taste about what is present Transylvania. Part of The Saxon House private tours, we are amazed to discover each time how the renovation work advances at the castle but also how the surroundings are changing. I highly recommend visiting the Castle but also the entire little town, the core pf the historical center being renovated.

Castelul Corvinilor, or Corvin Castle, is like stepping into a fairy tale! Nestled in Hunedoara, Romania, this castle is all about dramatic towers, winding staircases, and legends of knights. It's one of the largest castles in Europe and seriously looks like something out of a movie with its stunning Gothic-Renaissance architecture. Inside, you can roam through the grand halls and imagine the medieval banquets once held there. Don't miss the courtyard and the well — the stories behind them are super intriguing. It's a bit of a journey to get there, but totally worth it for the awesome photos and the feel of real-life history. Plus, the surrounding landscape is gorgeous!

The castle is beautiful. The architecture evokes the dark ages and, overall it is a very nice way to learn about both local and Romanian history in general. There was a nice exposition in the castle, which showed how people were tortured back then. It was fascinating and interesting to learn about. The only things I can complain about are the staff and the cleanliness of the toilets.

WOW!! A must visit. This castle has much to offer, with lots of rooms to explore, prisons, artifacts, and beautiful views. From the very entrance of the castle it’s breathtaking and offers views from high up of the towns below. The history of the castle is well explained and offers translations from Romanian to English for all tourists as well. The only downside to our visit was the rebuilding of the entire right side, meaning most of it was closed off to public access, but regardless, still worth the long drive and visit. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for an adventure!

A must if you're close by, lots of things to see probably one of the best castles in Romania! Renovations are taking place as we speak, probably by 2023 all done. Also you can buy tickets on line very easy, food readily available around the place.

This finally feels like a real castle😁. One like in the movies. With it's tall wooden bridge over a stream, high towers, but no Princess. It really looks and feels midevil. The visitable rooms are just a few because half of the castle is still under renovation. Don't expect high tech gadgets in there. It is as bear as it was when it was constructed. Only a few pieces of furniture and some weapons. The view is spectacular from the tower. A lot of gift hops in the court. Some are cheap chinese fakes but there are a lot of local hand crafted items too. Overall, for the 35 Ron (7€) paid, it's worth visiting once in a lifetime.

I don't know why you would think of looking up a review for this. Honestly, if you're here, you NEED to see it. There's no discussion. It's a huge, old castle. You can climb to one of the towers, you can go down to the torture chambers, they have cool actors that are just casually around and smiths that can show you swords and bards that sing on old mandolins. Great architecture, great view, just go. Please, just go and visit, you won't regret it!

One of the most wonderful castles I have ever been to. Majestic place to visit, Unfortunately we were not told that there is renovation inside so there is not so much to see inside as there are workers everywhere so basically you can spend there about 10 minutes and then go back to front where 95% of your photos are taken. Castle still deserves 5* however the employees should warn people about the interior renovations as some of them may not like that and are expecting more.

It's one of the most beautiful castles I have ever seen! 😍 walking in the beautiful big rooms with bolted ceilings takes you back in time. The castle is extremely well preserved, especially considering that it was built in the 15th century (1440s). You can easily imagine how the nobles lived in those times. Absolutely gorgeous! We loved it so much and were so impressed by the architecture that stood strong till this day, that we decided to return and take our post wedding photos there, and it was the best decision we could make ❤️ Go visit!!! You will not regret it!

Nice place to visit, lots of history to learn. Some of the rooms are pending renovation or are under renovation. We went with 3 kids, the small ones (3 &6) were not that enthusiastic about it as there are not so many attractions, some of the rooms are less 'interactive', rather static. I think of some small animations on some screens or projected. They loved that in some rooms there are some persons dressed like few hundred years ago and they played with their sword etc. We need more of this. Also, please solve the parking and toilets.

Although some parts of the castle are still undergoing renovations, it is worth a visit. It’s a place rich in history with beautiful architecture. There are also art expositions inside the castle. The price for entrance tickets is alright (40 ron ~ 8 euros approximately). Definitely worth a visit.

The place is absolutely beautiful and a definite must see within Romania's tourist destinations. Everything is clean and orderly and you can enjoy a nice walk in the castle then take a sweet break afterwards with some traditional dishes. Event though the castle is not as richly decorated as I was expected, it's a nice place if you want to combine beauty and some history.

Really gorgeous castle, loved the Gothic-Renaissance style, the history and the legends. It is well taken care of and holds different exhibitions and events throughout the year. Audio guides would be a great enhancer of the overall experience. I will definitely visit it again.

Wonderful medieval castle. From the outside I would give it 5 stars because it looks amazing! Unfortunately the interior is not that nice, there ar just a couple of furniture pieces and that's it. Very little written informations, no map available. No audio guide. Luckily, in every important room there is somebody who can tell you more about the history of the castle. Overall a pleasant experience.

Entrance fee is 36 lei per adult. Prices differ according to your age group. Wonderful place for taking pictures, Lovejoy sites outside the castle, very photogenic. There are gift and souvenir shops. Coffee and snacks kiosks. Parking is a street away, no disabled parking. Why 3 stars? Inside the castle wasn't that impressive, construction work is going on in part of the castle. The staff seemed very bored and didn't care to offer help or expansions. COVID-19: you are required to wear a mask and have a vaccination certificate to enter.

Its very impressive from the outside, but inside nothing special: you won't find restored rooms, halls or interiors in general there. Just grey empty walls. It's a pity, because it could be an amazing place to visit for understanding and imaging how mediaeval castles looked like (not just on photos)

Very nice and amazing, you need to visit it if you are in the zone. It’s 1/3 in renovation, so make sure you are aware that not all the rooms are visitable so that your expectations aren’t lowered. One of the most beautiful castles in the world.

Writing this review causes me a contradiction. The exterior of the castle is well worth going closer and spending a while taking photos and finding the right angle with the camera. We found a mega scaffold in the arches, but something manageable, in the end these constructions need maintenance and someone has to eat the scaffold ... The problem is the interior. In reforms (not with much success according to my understanding), poorly indicated and without many indications, empty, ... AND THE WORST ... EXPENSIVE from what you see. € 7 to change to see 4 empty rooms, an exhibition of 10 paintings painted by someone, a desolate courtyard and under construction, ... believe me it's not worth it. Approach to Hunedoara to see it from the outside, YES as it's spectacular. Paying to see the inside, definitely not. They have recently raised rates from RON 30 to RON 36 (+ € 1.20 increase). There is a parking outside paying 10 RON, if you don't want to pay you can also find public parking nearby.

The castle is gorgeous from the outside! The inside yard is being renewed now (June, 2023), and some of the chambers are under renovation as well, but it's a great 2 hour trip/activity to have, for sure!

A gorgeous piece of history, the only reason I took out a star is due to the fact they had many doors closed (to certain rooms). Ah! And the 6 RON picture tax :)) that was something new. But otherwise, nothing to say - a worthwhile visit with a few German colleagues, which were very happy with the experience!

We came early in the morning, which proved to be the right decision, as, when we left, a lot of tourists started coming in, so if you can go early, it's probably best. There were a few different exhibits taking place in sections of the castle, which was really nice to see. We also had the surprise of seeing a small performance in the castle's interior garden, which was very cute!

It is truly an awe-inspiring location with a rich historical significance. This place undoubtedly deserves a 5-star rating for the profound representation it holds. However, there are a couple of aspects that slightly hinder its overall ranking. Firstly, there is a notable concern regarding the maintenance of numerous items. While renovations were in progress during my visit, it seems that some items have been neglected for quite a while. Prioritizing their upkeep would greatly enhance the overall experience. Secondly, the customer service personnel could use improvement. A more welcoming and accommodating approach would make visitors feel not only valued but also connected to the historical essence of the place. Feeling welcomed and a part of history should be an integral part of the visit experience.

Impressive looking castle from the outside it's an amazing view. Inside it's really big, lots of stairs to climb. Some of the rooms were ready but there were still working on parts of it but I think once they finish everything it will be spectacular. We managed to get a car park down below and walk up. There's some food and drinks up in front and also souvenirs walking up to it

In general , the castle is nice , by the the best looking medival building in Romania. Decently mentained , and there are info-boards telling some of the history of the place (although in a rather dry , old-fashioned way). It is likely that children would get bored in such a place , in spite of its apparent appeal. Very good for anyone interested in Transylvanian history in particular. In the actual 2020 context : as of August 2020 , there is NO TRACE OF SOCIAL DISTANCING BEING ENFORCED , there are no separate circuits , no abundant hand-sanitizer offered , so it may be not advised to visit at this time without extensive personal precoutions if the COVID-19 pandemic is of any concern to you.

First time visiting it. Paid 31 RON for 1 Adult ticket (about 7€). I would say that there is plenty to see for that money. It seems that it is currently under reabilitation and it might become even more interesting to visit in a few years. You can pay by card. There is a generous parking 5 minutes away (walking) which costs 10 RON for 1 car, for the whole day.

Este un loc superb! M-as intoarce ori de cate ori as avea ocazia!

Beautiful medieval castel with nice view and architecture, with an impressive wooden bridge. This amazing castle was built initially in the XIV century but had upgrades and restorations to what it is today, an architectural marvel.

Simply amazing castle. The view of castle is breathtaking. Some parts of the Caste was under renovation, so not all places were accessible but the ones that are, are simply amazing. Everything is written also in English which is plus. It's a must-see Caste.

The castle is very beautiful on the outside, but a little bit empty on the inside. A lot of the castle is under repairs and good portion of it is closed for visitors. Still it's a pretty impressive to see. If you pass near the vicinity of Hunedoara, it's well worth checking out. The ticket booth had trouble with my credit cards. We tried all three of them with no luck so I recommend bringing cash.

Amazing castle in the heart of Transylvania. Nicely renovated, with lot’s of tourists visiting, especially during the weekends. Cost of admission is less than 8€. You’ll find many restaurants and bars near the venue. Worth to visit.

Very beautiful castle! Unfortunately when we came, half was being renovated. Nevertheless the parts we walked thru were beautiful and worth it. We went on a Tuesday and was mildly busy. Wait time was 5 minutes for tickets. There is also a torture exhibition across the entrance that's worthwhile. Obviously no children are recommended.

What a nice castle, from inside and outside. You will arrive and be stunned by the view. You can visit inside a lot besides restoration work on going. You have nice views from the two Towers you can climb. You need some fitness, though ;-) 😉 a must to see!

Super stunning. I’d say much more worth a visit than Bran Castle. It is rather plain inside but the views from the walls and tower are amazing, along with an interesting history and architecture. Many souvenir shops/ stands leading up to the castle. Went on a Saturday, was pretty crowded. 40 lei for adults and 10 lei for students

I liked most Romanian castles, especially this one: not too busy, not pretentious, it takes about 1h to see it all, the decorations are not all over the place but quite digest. In the chapel, there is music playing and visitors are given the view from the balcony, quite unique perspective and very romantic. There were extensive renovations going on but the experience was top notch! There were even 2 art exhibitions to promote diverse and contemporary artists in the Castle hall - Romanians do have good sense of aesthetics: straight forward, pragmatical and living arts!

I was expecting something spectacular, it wasn't. At the entrance you are greeted by the eternal boutiques with souvenirs made in China, nothing authentic. Some areas of the castle were under renovation, so they were not accessible, and the toxic smell mixed with sweat made you leave each room quickly. It is quite crowded on the weekend, it is preferable to visit during the week, otherwise in some areas of the castle you have to arm yourself with a lot of patience.

One of the largest medieval castles I've seen that is so well preserved and is still being maintained. It is very interesting, it has an interesting history. It is easily accessible even though it does not have its own parking lot. And it is located, unfortunately, near an old plant that served Romania's heavy industry during the communist era. The castle itself is easy to visit, the view is very beautiful. Not for people who have difficulty walking. If you're in the area, don't miss this, one of Romania's 7 architectural wonders.

Even though the castle is in the restoration phase and numerous rooms are closed, the main yard is currently paved, the visit was worth. The ticket is 40RON per adult and kids under 6 don’t need one. Clean, well maintained, not so much useful information like specific dates or other bits and pieces of information, but good enough. Great place for the kids and for a small history lesson. Also on the path to the castle, there are numerous small shops full of souvenirs to buy.

You can see the most beautiful view from the outside, it's not really worth paying the entrance fee. If it's still under construction, you can't even take pictures of the tower, you can only see the canvas with which it is covered.

Love the castle and the scenery. Entrance is 40 lei and they accept card payment. There's also souvenir and food shops outside.

An absolutely beautiful castle. Even though the castle is currently being renovated, you can still see most parts of it. If you are curious about Romanian history and want to learn more, then you should visit this place. If you want to avoid long queues for tickets, you should come a bit earlier in the morning. The fee for the castle is about 40 lei. There are plenty of shops from where you can buy food and drinks. You can park your car in the nearest car park to the castle, about 8-10 minutes' walk. The fee for parking is 10 lei.

Best place I visited with my wife. Worth much more than the ticket price 40Lei (about 9 dollars) Free to roam around the castle in most areas. Many interesting rooms and vistas. Highly recommended to everyone.

I think this is absolutely worth a visit! Yes, they are in the process of restoration, but it’s actually very interesting to see how they are doing it and the care the are taking. Informative signage in English is a huge plus. Make sure to read the story about the three prisoners who dug the well. Would recommend a visit.

Castle is still being renovated (we last visited 7 years ago). It is immense in size and located on a strategic hill in the town of Deva. The space is extremely touristy, packed with shops selling trinkets and real Romanian handicrafts. The archeological museum next door and the museums of trades and coins are ok to visit if you have some extra time. Castle is definitely worth a visit.

It is a beautiful castle and it worth visiting in any season. In summer time it might get crowded but still, it is an impressive history lesson. You can buy tickets at the entrance or try to get them online ( this way you can skip the line).. There are many stairs to climb up and down, narrow corridors.. so be prepared to experience some muscular fever after that..

A wonderful and majestic castle. castle lovers => a must! Beautiful inside and out. Affordable price. As I mentioned, being in Romania and not seeing it is a sin :)

Nice castle, currently renovations are made. Parking spot is ~5min away, where you have to pay a small parking fee. There are toilets at the parking lot, but I recommend to use the toilets at the castle, because they are very clean and for free. To enter the castle you have to buy a ticket, which can be purchased at the castle entrance. There are many rooms to explore. Also be prepared to climb a lot of stairs.

One of the gems of Romania, unlike Bran Castle, this one isn't a tourist trap, always well-maintained, kept it's charm and as much of the antique furniture and decorations as possible, recommend you to check it out, won't leave dissappointed.
