One of the wonders of the Ancient World. Despite this site being burnt to the ground by Alexander the Great, some very powerful parts remain. I would strongly suggest to hire a guide to get context.

Persepolis was the ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid Empire (c. 550–330 BC). It is situated in the plains of Marvdasht, encircled by southern Zagros mountains of Iran. It is a World Heritage Site. Nowruz ( the Persian New Year) was celebrated here. The wooden parts of Persepolis destroyed by Alexander the Great. But the marble parts still amazing. It is absolutely worth to visit.

One of the best experiences ever to witness a great piece of history of our ancestors. When I was there, the air felt different, it’s hard to describe but you feel like the energy is still there from thousand of years ago. Should be one of the wonders of the world.

Sad & Dignity As a tourist guide, I have visited there after 15 years. Unfortunately there's no way to revive the quality and beauty of Persepolis in this way. As you can see at the last photo which was taken from Musée du Louvre, 2 century before there are so many archeologist who saved the magnificent and beauty of Persepolis. If you like to see the most important part of history at the last 25 centuries in Iran, you need to visit the UNESCO world heritage site. There are many talented people which they can guide you. VR headset are available, too. My experience during my visit was awesome because it made me proud of my blood as Persian. But unfortunately it was Sad. Because They put palaces away from protection and all materials are going to destroyed in couple of years.

One hour away from the city of Shiraz, we see the capital of the Achaemenid(pars) Empire, one of the largest structures left over from 2,500 years ago, the glory and majesty of that ruler ship can be seen in this place, and it can also be seen in the works left on the columns and walls of Persepolis. I see your country and human rights carved on the stones, it is highly recommended to see this place and feel the masterpiece of the engineer of that time.

Persepolis is derived from Ancient Greek: romanized: Persepolis, a compound of Pérsēs and pólis, meaning "the Persian city" or "the city of the Persians". To the ancient Persians, the city was known as Pārsa, which is also the word for the region of Persia. An inscription left in AD 311 by Sasanian prince Shapur Sakanshah, the son of Hormizd II, refers to the site as Sad-stūn, meaning "Hundred Pillars".Because medieval Persians attributed the site to Jamshid, a king from Iranian mythology, it has been referred to as Takht-e-Jamshid, literally meaning "Throne of Jamshid". Another name given to the site in the medieval period was Čehel Menār, literally meaning "Forty Minarets Persepolis is near the small river Pulvar, which flows into the Kur River. The site includes a 125,000 square meter terrace, partly artificially constructed and partly cut out of a mountain, with its east side leaning on Rahmat Mountain. The other three sides are formed by retaining walls, which vary in height with the slope of the ground. Rising from 5–13 metres (16–43 feet) on the west side was a double stair. From there, it gently slopes to the top. To create the level terrace, depressions were filled with soil and heavy rocks, which were joined together with metal clips.

Every time I see it there, when I want to go back, it seems like a part of my soul is left there. The history of the world can be seen there and the passage of time can be felt. Luxurious and beautiful halls, stunning architecture and large palaces that all show the existence of a great civilization there. Nowhere in the world, like Persepolis, does one fascinate. Really unique in the whole world (Original)

My ancestors was related to Darrius and I visit Persepolis for first time. It was amazing that I saw that palace those statue of ancient and Achaemenid empire soldiers. If you focus on statues of soldiers you will see they are different in beards and hats and weapons they grabbed in their hands. So i had been full of passion and honor to see my ancestors had such an empire and soldiers in the world. But somehow i became sad because of the negligence of who is forced to protect this history precious because you see the pillars was destroyed and the statues was uncompleted and damaged. They can rebuild them and tag them which one rebuild. Besides I know a local guide who is expert in explaining the statutes and the palaces in Persepolis if any one want to visit this place deeply massage me in telegram : @hosein8310

The magnificent ruins of Persepolis lie at the foot of Kuh-i-Rahmat, or “Mountain of Mercy,” in the plain of Marv Dasht about 400 miles south of the present capital city of Teheran. The exact date of the founding of Persepolis is not known. It is assumed that Darius I began work on the platform and its structures between 518 and 516 B.C., visualizing Persepolis as a show place and the seat of his vast Achaemenian Empire. He proudly proclaimed his achievement; there is an excavated foundation inscription that reads, “And Ahuramazda was of such a mind, together with all the other gods, that this fortress (should) be built. And (so) I built it. And I built it secure and beautiful and adequate, just as I was intending to.But the security and splendor of Persepolis lasted only two centuries. Its majestic audience halls and residential palaces perished in flames when Alexander the Great conquered and looted Persepolis in 330 B.C. and, according to Plutarch, carried away its treasures on 20,000 mules and 5,000 camels.

(Translated by Google) Persepolis is a collection of magnificent palaces, the construction of which began in 512 BC and lasted 150 years. Persepolis is located in a large area that on one side to Mount Rahmat and on the other to Marvdasht it's limited . These huge royal palaces were built next to the city of Parseh, which the Greeks called Persepolis. Persepolis building in the time of Darius I around 518 AH. M, began. First, they prepared a high plateau and built the Apadana Hall, the main stairs and the Techra Palace on it. After Darius, his son Xerxes built another hall called Hadish Hall and laid the plan for the hundred-column hall. Ardashir I finished the Hall of One Hundred Columns. Ardashir III started another building that remained unfinished. These buildings are built on foundations, some of which are huge and solid rocks or they are carved in the mountains. Achaemenid architecture is an art of combination and innovation, which is adapted from the style of Babylonian, Assyrian, Egyptian and Greek cities of Asia Minor and the Urartu people, and has created an independent type of architecture with the art and initiative of the Iranian spirit. By building these huge buildings, the Achaemenids wanted to show the greatness of their great empire to the world. Persepolis isn't just beautiful, it's a mesmerizing journey through time. Rising from the plains like a mirage, its grandeur speaks of empires long gone. Carved reliefs whisper tales of heroes and conquests, while towering columns, defying gravity and scorching sun, stand as silent sentinels. Each stone whispers stories of artistry, blending influences from across a vast kingdom into a harmonious symphony. Light bathes the intricate details, highlighting the delicate floral motifs and powerful figures, leaving you awestruck by the sheer scale and meticulous craftsmanship. The sheer age adds another layer of mystique, reminding you that these wonders have witnessed centuries of history unfold. Whether bathed in golden sunrise or the soft hues of dusk, Persepolis is a testament to human ambition and artistry, a beauty that transcends time and leaves you breathless. However, it's important to note that the beauty of Persepolis extends beyond its visual splendor. It's also a reminder of the complexities of history, representing both the achievements and contradictions of a powerful empire. Understanding this context adds depth and richness to your appreciation of this magnificent site.

. The group of palaces of Takht Jamshid is located in a wide area surrounded by the “Rahma” mountain on one side, and ends with the “Morodesht” plains on the other. These large royal palaces were built in the vicinity of Parse. The Greeks called it Persepolis. Work began on the construction of Takht Jamshid during the reign of Darius I, around the year 518 BC. At first, high foundations were prepared, and then the “Apadana” hall and the main stairs were built on them, as well as the “Tijr” palace. After Darius died, he was succeeded by his son, Khashayar Shah, who built the Hall of Hadish and proposed the project of building a hall with a hundred pillars. After him, Ardashir I sat on the throne and completed the construction of this hall. It is worth mentioning here that these palaces and halls were built on foundations and pillars that were made of large, harmonious rocks that sculptors carved in the mountains themselves. The palaces of Takht Jamshid were built on a land of 13 hectares. Takht Jamshid was equipped with thermal systems and air conditioners, which provided the internal spaces with necessary heat in the winter, and in return, in the hot summer days, it provided a cool and moderate atmosphere. The plains of Marvdasht, as well as the very high ceilings of the palaces, the halls and spacious spaces, the open doors, and the large number of windows in them, all of which helped provide a mild atmosphere in the summer. As for the winter, the walls were built of bricks and bricks, and the layers of plaster, in addition to the long thick purple curtains, formed a thermal insulator that prevented the penetration of the Persian cold into the halls and spaces. The roofs covered with timber also helped to warm the surroundings. Moreover, the water delivery network and waterways existed in Takht Jamshid. Excavations at this archaeological site revealed underground networks for water delivery and crooked waterways with a length of more than two kilometers. The art of Achaemenid architecture is an art that mixed with the styles of Babylonian, Assyrian and Egyptian architecture, and what was widespread in the Greek cities in the Asia Minor region and among the peoples of Urartu, but this art has been developed independently of other architecture arts by adopting wonderful artistic models and creations stemming from an Iranian spirit wealth. The aim of the Achaemenids in constructing such majestic buildings and buildings was to highlight their great royal power to the world. Through the excavation work conducted in 1312 AH. U On the northwestern side of the foundations of Takht Jamshid, about forty thousand clay tablets were found in the shape and scale of prayer dust, on which phrases were written in Elamite script. After reading these Elamite tablets, it turned out later that they are documents that talk about the costs of building the palaces of Takht Jamshid.

An extremely rich place for history-lovers. The Zoroastrian Achaemenid pillars in Persepolis, Iran, more commonly resemble with the Hindu / Buddhist Mauryan pillars in India, which are also located in modern-day, Pakistan, Bangladesh, as well as Afghanistan. Both the countries also have tri-color flags, which shows peace, love, and unity. In fact, the most number of common or uncommon similarities or resemblances, between any two countries, are that of between Iran and India. Long-live India-Iran 🇮🇳-🇮🇷 relationship.

The magnificent ruins of Perspolis founded by Darius the great in 518 BC and had been constructed for near 150 years. It was one the three capital of the Achaemenid Empire. The terrace of Perspolis with its double flight of access stairs, its walls covered by sculpted friezes at various levels, the gigantic winged bulls and the remains of large halls, is a grandios architectural creation. There are several palaces fitted together harmoniously. This ensemble of majestic approaches, monumental stairways, throne rooms, reception rooms and annex buildings is classified among the world's greatest archaeological sites. There is area near the main site that you can find a huge parking lot, cafes, souvenir shop and other things you may need.

In Naghsh-e Rostam, there are tombs of emperors such as Darius the Great / Xerxes / Ardashir I and Darius II. In addition to Naqsh-e Rostam, two tombs are completely finished and one tomb is half-finished in Persepolis. The tombs located at the foot of Rahmat Mountain and overlooking Persepolis belong to Ardashir II and Ardashir III. To the south of Persepolis is a half-abandoned tomb that, according to some archaeologists, belongs to Darius III. Apart from the builders of Persepolis, who were Darius, Xerxes and Ardashir I, Ardashir III also made repairs in Persepolis. The tombs of Ardashir II and III have been excavated at the eastern foothills of Persepolis. This article or section needs sources or references that appear in credible, third-party publications.
