One star for the actual accommodation. An extra star for the staff, which is the only saving grace. I'll start with the negatives then go into the positives: We checked in around 21:00 and got two rooms for the family. I didn't expect a high level of luxury, but it is 3 Stars so I expected better than Motel 6 (which is 2 stars). One of two elevators was broken, but no matter. There wasn't a long wait as we were one of few patrons to the hotel. The rooms were super basic. Our room had a radiator that was on full blast. We asked if we could turn it down (there was no handle available to turn) and he said it's centrally controlled...this was not true turns out. Also, the toilet wouldn't flush. We went to dinner and told them to fix the toilet. They said they tried. Still didn't flush. They had to come fix it again. Still barely worked. Also, there were cockroaches. We switched rooms the next day. This room the radiator dial worked and so did the toilet. Cockroaches persisted. The shower leaked out of the tub all over the bathroom floor but one has to pick their battles. Positives: breakfast staff was incredibly friendly and kind. They went out of their way to make us comfortable and tell us where to go in the city. The hotel rooms didn't smell even though they seemed super old (actually only 7 years old). Water pressure in the shower was good. Plenty of parking available.

I invite you to stay at Samson Hotel in Khoy. A quiet and cozy place with good and friendly staff.

Samin Hotel seems to be everyone's last resort when looking for accommodations in Khoy. There are 2 other hotels that are more decent but have much fewer rooms so they get booked up quickly. Below are the pros and cons: Pros - Always seems to have availability if you're looking for a room - Air conditioner works great in the summer - Good shower pressure even at higher floors - Very kind and helpful breakfast area manager Cons - Other than the manager of the breakfast area, all other members of the staff and middle management are incredibly unprofessional (as other reviewers have noted). The examples are too numerous to count (and we were only there for 5 days total) but include: 1. Lying about their card reader being broken and forcing us to walk into town to deposit money via an ATM so they could avoid taxes 2. Not delivering missing towels to the room after us calling on multiple occasions (and refusing to let us come down to pick them up from the front desk) - Poor treatment of the custodial staff; the hotel managers are too cheap to buy their staff vacuum cleaners, so they have to painstakingly sweep all the floors (including rugs!!) with brooms! - Missing towel and bedsheets until you request them (and then it takes multiple painful phone call to the front desk to receive them) - The hotel offers a free basic breakfast, but while the lobby/breakfast area has an AC system, they rarely turn it on, so it's uncomfortably hot while eating. Instead they open a few windows (even though there isn't a breeze) which results in multiple flies and ants on many of the breakfast tables that don't get cleaned in between guests so every morning we would have to search for a table that wasn't covered in crumbs The building's main services to the local community seem to be the swimming pool (which many children were using for swimming lessons over the summer) and the event hall which was rented for 2 weddings while we were there. It seemed like the hotel is secondary to these services. I would recommend avoiding Samin and booking accommodations in one of the other 2 main hotels in Khoy if at all possible. The actual rooms are very basic but fine for the most part, the main issue is the lack of basic hotel management that sours the experience.

Generally it was a typical Iranian hostel. Except the receptionist, who was really helpful and friendly, the rest was not worth it.
