Did the 12 km hike - costs R70, the trail is quite steep in areas and has loose rocks through the entire trail. It is well marked. The restaurant has an awesome vibe and drank a delicious coffee after our hike.

Very steep start and end to hiking trails. The trails are circular with extra distances being added loops to the trail. There is no map available however the signage is very clear. The property is very beautiful, priced fairly and the owner is very helpful and friendly. There are very nice picnic stops. One features a rope swing over a small dam which can produce much hilarity. Would recommend to a fairly fit walker looking for well defined paths and no chance of getting lost.

Today we took our dogs for a very safe, on the leash, 8km hike @ Sable Ranch Hiking Trail & Accommodation (Magaliesburg). We saw loads of buck on the hike and we were surprised at just how tame they were. We were able to pass just a few meters from them without them being spooked. Approximately 4km of the 8km hike is uphill so definately better suited for fitter dogs and hikers. 5km, 8km, 10km and 12km routes available. Most of the hike is in the sun so be sure to start this one early in the morning. Cool down at the swimming spot complete with rope swing to reward your efforts before you take on the "You can" climb. The trail is very well marked and clean. Marilie is super friendly and will even whatsapp you a map of the trails. R70 per person. This venue has a lovely restaurant, accommodation, bookstore, doggy parlour, acrobranch, paintball as well as other family friendly activities.

Fantastic hike that's close to Joburg. There are 5, 8, 10 and 12km route options. All trails are very clearly marked. Some stretches are steep and the downhills can be pretty slippery but it's a fun morning outing. A group of about 15 completed the 8km in less than 3 hours (with breaks and a swim).

We did the 12 km hike with our 3 dogs. It is a steep walk up to the top of the hill, and pretty tough. However it is very well worth it. The views and scenery are stunning. We then had breakfast at Noble Village which was also good. Peaceful relaxed atmosphere and good service. Also lots of activities for children.

The hike was lovely, challenging and not predictable, need a shoe that grips as the rocks are slippery. The Signs need to be updated, the quote are also a nice read, and can make you really reflect on life. ❤️

Took our dog for the 5km hike. It was a bit strenuous due to the steep uphills and downhills. So you should be aware of that if you’re not very fit. We thoroughly enjoyed it though and so did our dog. It was his first hike and he even went into the water. There was only one other family there so we could let him off leash for most of the hike as he’s friendly and got on well with their dogs. I would highly recommend this but ensure that you get there early as the sun in summer is blazing hot.

Did the 10km hike, definitely a leg day. We also got to see some animals, I loved that. The hike itself has a long uphill but we seemed to get through it quite fast. There's a restaurant at the site I had the pizza, it was absolutely delicious, best I've had in a while, very reasonably priced too, you have to check out this place.

Went for the hiking trail and was left feeling scammed. Route was poorly marked, paths were overgrown and had to walk under a tunnel that was pitch dark. If it was R20 or less for the hike it would be acceptable, but for R70 it felt like a scam. The place looks like it was really good a few years ago

Challenging hike, steep climb with an elevation of +\- 324m. Beautiful view over the Magalies mountains. Well marked and easy to follow the 5, 8, 10 and 12km trails. Luckily it was an overcast day as there’s not a lot of shade. Nice to see some wild life hanging around. R70 p/p

What a awesome place to go for a hike! And it's pet friendly too! We and the dogs thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely come again for the other routes Update: Went there again today (22/01/2023) and still a great hike. Good workout going up the hill. Pack extra water because that climb will make you go through water faster than anticipated The dam at the top is the best part

We went to hike the longer trails with our dogs. A beautiful day out, especially with the swim friendly dam halfway. We will definitely be back.

Only went for hike. Worst experience ever. Trail was boring with minimum markings. And just to achieve the required distance you have to walk in loop. During whole 12 km not even a single sable was seen.

Guys this place is amazing!!! Service is beyond perfect, the rooms are lovely, the view is perfect for relaxation. This is the best gateway place to escape the busy city life. Will definitely recommend this place. The hiking trail at Noble Village (restaurant across Sable Ranch) was nice, poorly marked and the restaurant had no power most of the time but that still did not take away the amazing stay we had at Sable Ranch.

A well marked 4x4 route. Great views & photo opportunities. Staff at the picnic spot were helpful & friendly - as well as the car guards. Great outing for the family.

I really enjoyed my hike today, however a few things need some tlc, I would've liked a proper induction about the hike. More markings along the trail, especially closer to the top of the mountain. We didn't know where to go for a second. Other than that, the food was delicious especially the chips and pizza.

Enjoyed the hike here but not the food. Ended up enjoying our drinks only because the food wasn't fresh. Suggestion for the management to reduce the menu size so that they don't stock too many options. This will keep the food fresh and in circulation.

Struggled a bit to find it, it's inside another place callded Noble Village, that waze directed us with, signboards outside only face one side of the road, so if you coming in opposite direction you will miss it. The hiking trail has no proper km markers, so you don't know how far you have hiked, just park run boards with the word hiking and arrows, some boards on the ground or behind grass, so you guess which direction to head when picking up the boards. Did not see any animals . People walking back, as they also saw no animals and a concern was the hiking trail was right alongside people who were doing 4 x 4 in their bakkies. People in 4 x 4 asked us if we know trail across river, we said no we are here to hike. I think if there was better markers for both and someone to guide you, or even animals it would be really nice. Has potential, the river is very pretty. The toilets and restaurant area looks great too. The paintball is target shooting, not team paintballing with gear. Restaurant staff friendly and welcoming. Would not 4 x 4 without an experienced other vehicle there.

Beautiful escape to nature. The venue is well maintained, all of the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The farm itself is wonderful, will walk right amongst a herd of Sable. It is pet friendly and there are a variety of hikes, with options to turn back at each of the distances. It's a great day trip from JHB! The restaurant looked great, unfortunately we didn't have time to try it but we will be back soon to fix this. One thing to take note is that the hike is incredibly steep in the beginning so take a walking stick and be prepared to work. The view is definitely worth the climb though!

What a great place to break away from the busy city. Lovely view, nature and very accommodating hosts. Sable Ranch is definitely a place that I would recommend if you love taking hikes, birdwatching and need recharging!

We had the best trip this past weekend that we could have hoped for, each couple we went with had the most amazing time and we only had great things to say about the place, our host was so welcoming and friendly, and checked in on us which we loved. Also Lesego was very very warm to work with. I would recommend and definitely plan on going back.

Sable Ranch is located in a great place to get away from the city. We were treated excellently, the place is nice and clean. Outside chill to braai and gaze the stars at night. We had a 24 hours assistance what ever we needed. Lovely place. Hiking is nice and fun.

👍👍 What a peaceful place to visit. The doggy menu is better than the human one, but the food was very "English Pub" rather than "restaurant" quality. But still good. Prices are very reasonable, let's face it, you are going here for a doggie day out.
