You love old and dark rooms? You like small and old TV in your Room? You prefer the slowest elevator in the world? Welcome to Ambassador KC. Seriously: One of the worst hotels of the autograph collection. Absolutely overpriced. It's more like an Residence Inn or similar low budget hotels. The second star is for the front desk. Sorry that I can not rate otherwise... By the way: I have no idea why I, as a platinum member, was shipped to the old part of the building with a very bad view...

The hotel room was so so. To me the nicest person was actually the valet. As soon as we arrived the valet was very attentive. That's pretty much where the service stopped. We walked in the door immediately. Someone yelled, when I say, yelled, I mean HOLLERED, "Hello, are you a guest here?" I was being profiled. It was like everyone in the lobby turned and looked at us. The worker then left from behind the counter while she was assisting another customer, with a line behind that customer. She left them, and the line, came over to me and my daughter who didn't even get a chance to sit in the lobby chairs and proceeded to ask, Are we a guest here and and further demanded our room number. I mean she loudly interrogated us right in front of everybody when there was a line there that she should have been servicing as opposed to profiling us because I guess she thought we didn't fit the description of the type of guests who normally stay there. The next day no one at the front desk even acknowledged us when we were leaving out to view the city. They were very rude. I will never stay there again. We were in town for a national conference. She not only gave the hotel a bad representation but left the sour, tasted my mouth for visiting Kansas City again.

I stayed here for a business trip in February of 2023, the front desk staff was amazing and I had nothing but positive interactions with them. The location, while great for my purposes, does seem to get a bit loud due to traffic on Grand at all hours of the night and I was awoken more than once by people on the street with loud cars using the street as their own private raceway. Additionally within one block in any direction of the hotel there was often homeless people staying along the building fronts (not the hotel itself but the buildings around it) which did make for slightly uncomfortable situations when coming and going at night. While I don't blame the hotel for this, it's far outside their control, it is something that should be considered when staying there as those with sensitive or light sleeping patterns could be affected. Rooms were about what you'd expect in a higher end hotel, comfortable bed and overall I'd say a positive experience.

I do not want to over exaggerate here. All of the front desk staff I dealt with at this hotel always went out of the way to be kind, add value through good questions in offering more and being attentive. The room was sparkling clean. The food in the restaurant was good. Very nice professional but chill vibe here. If I make it back to KC I will stay here again.

When we arrived on 11-3-2022 they gave us our key to our room which was on the 7th floor. Mind you we wanted the top floor to have the view of the city lights at night. We opened the door to our room one of the beds wasn’t clean, bathroom wasn’t clean, stuff on the chair. Wasn’t happy at all plus we had to make like 3 trips downstairs nobody knew exactly where room 708 was. Then they give us 208 room and the view is of the parking lot! I work with the public every day and they didn’t seem like they were too worried about being apologetic. We really wanted the experience of seeing the Kansas City lights at night. Not a happy customer!!!

We worked with the Ambassador hotel in September 2022 for our Kansas City wedding for a hotel block as well as a farewell brunch. The hotel absolutely blew us away! The rooms were incredibly spacious, clean, and well-decorated. The lobby bar/restaurant is wonderful and everyone on the staff - from the chef, to the front desk, to the valet, were incredibly gracious and consistently went above and beyond to make our weekend special. All of our guests commented on how incredible the accommodations were, and have insisted they will be staying here on their next trip to KC. A special thank you to Jenny and Jay from group sales who helped orchestrate the weekend and alleviate our stress while planning a wedding from another state!

Love this hotel! The bedrooms and bathrooms are massive. Very comfortable beds. Love how they give you extra pillows and towels too! The rooms could have better lighting if you are working from the room but otherwise perfect. Gorgeous design and love the mini bar and snacks in the room!

Excellent hotel, I would definitely stay here again. The room was comfortable and extremely clean, with great amenities, and the location was great. What put this hotel over the top for me was the attention to detail and the greeting that we received whenever we spoke to staff across all departments. We were celebrating a friend's birthday and I felt like the staff was a part of our celebration with how friendly they greeted us during every interaction. I was particularly impressed by Jacob Honeycutt. He was very helpful in giving information about the hotel, we took his advice and enjoyed a fantastic breakfast the next morning at the hotel. He introduced our party to the bartender and told them that our group was celebrating. Jacob is a true professional! I could tell that he paid attention to the details of our stay and took the time to make it special. He made everything run seamlessly and we had a wonderful time. Thank you for everything! We enjoyed our stay in your exquisite hotel. Very impressed!

really great spot, great atmosphere, rooms were brighter than most autographs. Great staff, valet on point, same with the desk. I do wish that i could give it a 4.75 because my only complaint was that the steak soup had no steak. But i will round up because it was such a nice stay.

This hotel is absolutely luxurious. The front desk staff greet you with incredible smiles and are extremely attentive. The valet staff are also incredible, responsive and their customer service is top notch. The bar and front lobby is breathtaking. I had a King Bed room. What made this experience extra special was the bartender - Ishmael. His passion for mixology, creating his own bitters, paying attention to layers of flavors on drinks and engaging with us at the bar really made this stay extra special and a place I cannot wait to bring my entire work crew. I will absolutely return on my next visit to Kansas City!

Wonderful hotel! Front desk staff was amazing, particularly Vanity. She helped me check in, storing my luggage when my room wasn't ready and then had a stash of a variety of bandaids when I got blisters on my heels from walking around the city in dress shoes. Rooms were gorgeous and handicap accessible!

The staff is great! Everything from check in to check out was very easy, especially considering the fact that I had to check out at around 4 AM. The rooms are very clean and modernized. Overall the hotel felt cozy, upscale and very safe!

Beautiful hotel. The plushiest pillows and bed sheets that make you feel like you’re on a cloud. Big king suites and nice showers! Can’t wait to stay here again.

Taniea, was fantastic at the front desk! I got in late around 11:30 PM and she was super friendly and even was parking the cars as well. Just a super nice young woman! I basically just slept so no complaints room was clean and AC was cold. Just wanted to give a shout-out to a Star employee.

Service was really good. Valet, front desk, breakfast, evening drink never had a single issue. Always quick, efficient and just what you need but not too much. Frankly I’d book again bc of this. The rooms were fine. Felt pretty new and pretty much what’s you’d expect at a Marriott. The location isn’t that great but it’s a historic building so can’t do much about that. Bus stops, vacant lots, dispensary next door etc. it is an urban downtown location so fine during the day but much worse at night. Security was always good. Anytime I walked in at night I was immediately met by someone from the staff. I haven’t stayed downtown before so not sure how this compares to other options but I’d def stay again if I need to be downtown.

The 'king' sized bed was small. I reserved a king deluxe but got a very disappointingly small room. I asked to switch and was offered a smaller worse room. The room had a very noisy AC unit in it and smelled very musty when we first entered. The movie I bought did not work and only gave an error message when I tried to watch it. I told the front desk about this and was told they couldn't see the movie charge on my folio. I asked to have it printed out and showed them where it was clearly listed. They said they would take care of it. When I was charged I called Marriot customer service and a nice lady took my info down and said I would be contacted. I was contacted by a John Anastasopoulos, who simply argued with me about how big a king sized bed is. Worst high end hotel experience I have ever had. The only nice people here are valets and waiters.

Great hotel. Clean and very comfortable. The bar and restaurant in the hotel is also nice and typically busy. Lots of business professionals travel here during the week. I will be back to stay at this location.

Not a great location. If you are staying during the weekend expect to hear loud cars and music playing late into the night. The windows are thin. The rooms were clean, but the overall hotel felt more like a 3 star hotel than a 4.

Cool location and the bar/lobby is amazing. The staff at the counter is superb. That's where the good stops. Average rooms and super hard beds. Like extremely uncomfortable to the point where you need to flip every 45 mins because of a sore spot. Pillows are just as bad. Lastly, the people working the valet are rude, lazy and disorganized. These guys were a complete and utter joke.

I knew the Ambassador was a luxury hotel and that it would be fancy, which is not typically my style. However the time I spent here was nothing shy of amazing! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Clara checked us in during happy hour and Ishmal took very good care of us at the bar. His holiday inspired cocktail menu was very well put together. The room was also very nice and comfortable. I could tell that the people that work here take pride in their job and truly enjoy what they do. This was my first time in Kansas City and Shayna, the front manager, was very helpful with what was in and around the city. I would definitely recommend the Ambassador Hotel to someone who is considering staying here in the heart of downtown KC!

Visited the show for my bf's birthday. Had a group show up and we enjoyed the songs and liveliness of the crowd and performer. Food was okay and consider you pay about$100 per person right off the bat which includes your choice of entree and the show, a one time visit is okay. Friends had a good time and the space is very limited and with blocking columns, not all parties have the best view of the stage.

We booked a special room for our anniversary and a couple hours before we checked in the a/c went out. While we didn't get to stay in the room we wanted, Arthur and the other front desk person (sorry for forgetting name) went out of there way to make the stay great. Nice on site restaurant, have to walk a couple blocks to get to other things to do.

I only have great things to say about Ambassador Hotel Kansas City. To start, Micah Eigsti, Guest Services Specialist, ensured my stay was perfect from before I had arrived via e-mail, up through checkout. His level of service (as well as all the staff whether guest services, valet, and even the restaurant) is unparalleled. My stay was upgraded to a suite as a Titanium Elite member, and the spaciousness and elegance of both the suite and hotel in general is lovely. Expect a top notch all-around great experience when you stay here.

Great hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Assisted us in every request we had and had plenty of recommendations and suggestions for things around the area. Rooms were clean, updated, and very comfortable. Would definitely stay again. Minutes from anything (5 minute or $7 Uber pretty much anywhere) and there's a trolley stop one street over.

Fantastic location!! The bands each night in the bar were fantastic and the service was excellent... a wonderful way to end the night!! Our room was clean and roomy. As always, I wish there was more coffee with caffeine in the room ... but this is always the case. That was my one complaint because everything else was superb!!

Excellent location, staff, and cozy/modern rooms. The front desk attendants were friendly and so helpful, too. We went through the coffee and tea in-room pretty quickly, so we asked for more -- they brought us a big stash, straight up to our room! Breakfast was delicious as well.. overall I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

This hotel is a gem. It is a blend of modern-clean appointments and a Great Gatsby Speak Easy. I was here for a conference and the property did a great job at accommodating the 70+ person group. My only problem was the jazz ensemble in a reception room was way too loud for any sort of conversation in the room. Aside from that, everything was wonderful. The front desk staff was excellent. The gentleman who helped get my room open early was awesome. The valet at the front door gave me a perfect lunch spot recommendation. Thanks for that. Excellent value and exceeded expectations.

The Ambassador Hotel in downtown Kansas City commits theft, regularly and with forethought, taking property that is not theirs and selling it to their customers. They have been asked repeatedly to stop committing this crime, but they do not. They are thieves. Run by a belligerent staff of crooks. No one should spend their money at this criminal hotel.

We stayed for a night to celebrate my husbands birthday. The staff was friendly and decorated the room and took such great care of us during our stay! We’ll definitely stay again, thanks for the great service!
