Truly disappointing. The location is great, the hotel itself is lovely, but the staff I spoke with are all apparently completely incompetent. I stayed here back in October with a prepaid reservation through a 3rd party. They took my card at check-in and charged me the full amount for my stay. I was told it was just a hold and it would be released after I checked out, which is fine, I used to work at a hotel, I understand how it goes. Well the charge never fell off. I waited a full week before calling again and was told no one there could fix it, they would take down my number for a manager to call me. No call. I call again. "Oh I'll fix it right now and email you a receipt." Great. Except no refund and no email. I called this hotel SEVEN TIMES to get this fixed, but nothing was ever done. I finally report it to my bank and inform them of everything I've been dealing with and that this is an unauthorized charge. Well now it turns out they're disputing it as unauthorized with my bank so I'm STILL dealing with the incompetence of I'm assuming management. It is absolutely ridiculous that this has been drawn out this long due to their own mistake.

Location great. Rooms clean. But- if you want to control the temp in your room dream on. It’s restricted. It will maintain the same temp with heating and cooling and does not go below 68, you cannot manually run a fan. The floor temp out in the hall is 75. It’s 40° outside and of course we can’t even crack a window after our family has showered. If your run cold and need to be warm at all time this is the place for you. I will never stay at another chain if I’m paying $200 a night to only be uncomfortable. I left at 9 am because house keeping knocks on every single door repeatedly until you do. So if you stayed up late for an event at the Sprint center expect to be pushed out first thing in the morning. It was all the buzz for breakfast. Guess that’s one way to make your turnover happen. I need my room to be comfortable to sleep. So women going through hormonal changes good luck. Oh and the elevator doesn’t work while you’re climbing stairs in the 75° warmth. I think it’s for staff only. They didn’t have issues but we noticed guests all using the stairs to haul luggage. But- to not drink and drive, close to the venue and restaurants. Next time- we’re staying at another chain that doesn’t babysit the thermostat for you. Especially when you have requested for help to correct the issue. Staff simply does not care.

Excellent location near the power and light district downtown. The parking lot is small but I was always able to find a spot (would probably be more difficult if an event were happening). The breakfast was well stocked and the woman attending it was so friendly. The room itself was spacious and the work are was really nice. My only complaint is they said they would email me my bill and then did not, but I was able to get this resolved somewhat easily through the support phone number.

I stayed at this location recently on a business trip. The rooms were spacious and clean. The location felt safe. I came here to say that whatever they are paying the breakfast attendant Peggy, it is not enough. She left a bright impression first thing in the morning. She thanked everyone for being their guest and she sang a little song that reminded me of my Granny in the mornings. It was a delightful start to my day. Thank you Miss Peggy!!

I had the opportunity to stay at this location during a road trip, and I was truly impressed by the staff’s attentiveness. I exclusively used Holiday Inn hotels on this trip, and this particular location stood out for its exceptional service. The staff were superlatively great - polite, courteous, and proactive in communicating with me to check on my needs before, during, and after my stay. As usual, the breakfast was outstanding. The team made me feel as though I was staying in a 5-star hotel!

5 stars is usually someone who just throws a rating up and moves on. We came here for a concert at the T Mobile center so location is perfect. The rooms are not big by any means but they have all that you need! Service, again, perfect! The front desk staff helped with all my questions and goofy request. My only thing is parking but they can only work with what they have! So. . 5 stars!

I travel to tournaments with high school students all year long and have done so for many years. This hotel far outranks all other hotels I've ever stayed at, and that is due in very large part to the amazing customer service we received during our week-long stay. The manager sat down to chat with my students in the lobby, the front desk clerks were friendly and attentive to our needs, and the ladies working in food service were a delight. The other reason that the Holiday Inn Express KC Downtown gets my vote is due to their amazing breakfast selection. At other hotels, you search (often in vain) for something edible. Here, there was so much to choose from and everything was fresh and delicious!

It is my pleasure to share my experience as a guest at the Holiday Inn. During my stay, I encountered a very friendly front desk worker upon check-in, which made for a pleasant first impression. The rate I received was excellent, and the fact that the Holiday Inn is located right next to the venue I attended was extremely convenient. I also found the rooms to be impeccably clean, a quality that I prioritize as a General Manager of a hotel. Based on my personal experience, I would certainly consider using the Holiday Inn again for future stays.

The rooms were excellent! The sheets were soft, the paint color was nice, the room was finished off like such as finished baseboards, the furniture was high quality, and the complimentary bathroom amenities were superb! The entire hotel including the lobby and room were stylish and polished. The overall feel of the room was nice. I feel like I got great value for my money!

Best hotel breakfast I ever had. The cook and the breakfast attendant are both named Peggy and both are outstandingly kind and helpful. Breakfast area is cheerful and open - not claustrophobic like in many hotels. Room was spacious, very clean, and quiet even though it was right next to the elevator. Decor is very nice. Shower products, microwave and fridge were far better than most hotels. Cons: no shuttle from airport. Downtown location is a bit desolate and empty. Overall a very positive and restful stay. Holiday Inn worked hard on this hotel and it shows.

Convenient location right in the middle of downtown with access to plenty of the city’s history, attractions, and nightlife. Within walking distance. Adequate parking (2lots) , Exceptional Hospitality. Tim went above and beyond to make sure I was happy, and that I could sleep. Thank you so much!! You have a great team!

This hotel is literally right across the street from the T-mobile center so the location was perfect! Our room was nice, clean and modern looking. The hotel has such an amazing smell when you walk in the door ( I’ve never commented that on a review before, lol). We would definitely stay here again !

Beautiful hotel, everything was so clean. The bathrooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. The service I received was phenomenal and went above and beyond. The breakfast was delicious and various options cooked fresh. Came here for business but will definitely return to this hotel if I am ever in the area again. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and will recommend this location.

Julie and the sandy blonde male manager really helped us out. Both kept our room clean and towels flowing. Also the water pressure at this location is amazing. The rooms are great. Lost power for a night, which is why I gave it four stars. Turns out the outlet power strip tripped and had to be turned back on from too many devices hooked up. All and all will definitely stay here again. PS literally 10 to 15 minutes away from everything in KC

Great service at lobby. Very welcoming and accommodating, even for our large group. Large are larger than average. The cleaning staff is very effective and cleans rooms every day! The carpet in the room could stand to be steam cleaned, as I think their cleaning material cause the carpets to attract dirt.

Fantastic job by every staff member we interacted with, from front desk to amazing breakfast host! The room was just what we needed and a little more space than some city hotels we’ve stayed in. The breakfast was one of the better hotel ones we’ve had, including a good variety of options. And the location was just the right fit for what we wanted this stay. More city noise like sirens during the night, but that’s to be expected when in a city.

I am literally blown away by my experience at the Holiday Inn. Stayed here on a Friday night after driving all day. Location is perfect, a very short walk to the Power and Light district that had a live, free concert going on until late at night. Fresh baked cookies at the front desk as usual... the building itself is very old/neat but you can't tell when you walk inside, especially in the rooms, which are fantastic and huge ! Very modern, great city view, very comfy beds. Then the breakfast... literally the best hotel breakfast I have EVER had. And the best part of the entire stay was the hospitality from the staff. The lady working in the breakfast area welcomed us with "love and kindness" and even sang us a funny song she made about the Holiday Inn. What a great way to start the morning, I really hope Holiday inn provides for this lady because wow, what an amazing employee and person all around. Thank you!!!!

The hotel itself has great accommodations - great location, parking, good pricing, etc. However, this morning we got woken up by an alarm beeping in our room. I called down to the front desk and the attendant explained that it was a Co3 monitor and that the manager would be right up. We stood in the hallway in our pajamas for about 30 mins before my boyfriend eventually went downstairs, where he found the manager and attendants chatting behind the desk. It took another 15 minutes or so for anyone to come up. The response was a nonsensical apology about hair spray in the room over and a box fan being placed in front of the alarm, and flippant comments about us being fine when we asked about our safety. Our parking ($20) was comped, but this response was ridiculous. On top of this, there was another guest’s hair in the shower and bobby pins and other things around the room indicating poor cleaning. Had the response to the alarm been more hospitable, I would love to stay here again. The alarm was not the issue, at all. $20 compensation, 45 minute wait times, non-caring about guest concerns and random half-hearted explanations were, though. Poor hospitality, period.

This is a lovely property with ample parking (for an additional $20 per day). It's clean, the rooms are spacious and set up in a way that makes sense. Our stay was very comfortable and we would stay here again if the opportunity ever presents itself again.

Our trip has been so great! The buildings main areas and our room are very clean. The staff, Jamie, has been so kind and so gracious! We forgot a few things for our stay and she quickly helped us out! We are excited to spend a few days here!

I don’t think I’ve ever stayed at a hotel where the staff has been so focused on making sure I had a great stay. Everyone I have encountered has been kind and helpful. The rooms are spotless and up to date. Beds are comfortable. The essentials are taken care of. My family enjoyed the breakfast a lot so I’ll take their word for it. I don’t think I have a single complaint which is rare. I would also like to thank the breakfast attendant there Peggy. She greeted us in the morning with kindness, love and singing. It was a beautiful way to start our day and in terms of going above and beyond it can’t be better. I just want hotel management to know they have a 5 star staff above all else. Thank you.

So if you want to block rooms for a big event I wouldn’t suggest doing it here. I had my wedding planned and found out the NFL draft was going to be that weekend. (This was planned before draft details were released) Anticipating rooms would be hard to come by I blocked rooms for my guests to purchase at a set rate. It took someone trying to purchase that room that I found out that they voided our contract so they could be greedy and sell the rooms for $700. Didn’t even have the courtesy to contact me and say they took our rooms away. Holiday inn doesn’t care about anything but making a quick buck and I will never be staying or recommending a holiday inn express again. Y’all are the sole reason I had to change my wedding day. But don’t worry we are having a lawyer look at it.

Very clean and nice rooms. One of the best looking hotels I’ve been to. Very knowledgeable staff and was very helpful with finding things to do around the city! Was given some free water upon room entry! Had a room on the 7th floor and the view was great as well 5/5 :)

It was extremely busy due to hockey tournament. But they worked hard to take care of everyone. The staff was very accommodating to kids on vacation trying to have fun. The breakfast attendant Peggy sang us some songs and helped the kids use the pancake machine. The manager lady at breakfast was also really nice and wished us good luck at the games. Great place for families and kids!

The hotel was very nice. The room was big and comfortable. Everything was cleaned and sanitized well. I had to run the coffee machine with just water a few times to get clean hot water to make tea, but it wasn't a big deal. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and made a point to say hello or goodbye each time we walked through the lobby. It cost $20 per night to park in their lot.

We had such an AMAZING stay at the Holiday Inn downtown Crowne Plaza in Kansas City. Let’s first start with the yummy chocolate chip cookies upon check in. 😊 The staff gave a welcoming hello and throughout the stay remained so helpful. In the entry there is a grocery/amenities store that I used several times. The breakfast was awesome with plenty of hot and cold items to chose from. I loved the pancake machine that turned out fresh cakes starting from batter to finish. The breakfast area was spotless and the staff attentive and kind. The room was superb with the best mattress and pillows I’ve experienced in a hotel. All amenities were high end and the Keurig machine was a plus. The room decor was beautiful. Everything about our stay was wonderful!! All staff were amazing. I plan to stay again on my next trip to downtown KC. Only disappointment was having to pay $20 per night for parking in their parking lot. With the cost to stay in a three star hotel, parking needs to be complimentary.

We loved the location of the Holiday Inn! The staff at the front desk were incredibly helpful since we had never been to KC and we had no idea of the cable car system worked. We were able to park our vehicle and leave it, while using the street car as our main mode of transportation. It was able to get us close enough to everywhere we wanted to go from City Market to Union Station.

I always have good experiences at Holiday Inn Express hotels and this one was just as great! The beds are very comfortable, the staff are friendly, and the breakfast is very good. The parking lot is very convenient, too. My only complaint is that they could probably add another light to the room because it is pretty dim when it's dark outside.

Tim, at check in, was awesome! Knowledgeable about the area and hot spots. The ladies putting on the hot breakfast were great as well! Our room was clean as well as the public areas we entered into. Very convenient in walking distance to a lot of downtown spots. Will definitely stay there again should I find myself back in Kansas City!

The room on the penthouse level was clean, spacious, and quiet. The staff was excellent, particularly the woman servicing the breakfast area (she was so sweet and friendly) and Timothy at the front desk was so helpful and friendly, speaking every time we walked through and making sure we had everything we need. We'll stay again if we are ever in need of a hotel in Kansas City again!

Currently staying at this hotel and this is one of the best hotels I have had the pleasure of experiencing. Everyone at the front desk, and I mean everyone has been exceptionally welcoming. I want to shout one person in particular, Patricia!!!! She is the heart of the place in my opinion. Patricia had the sweetest smile during breakfast today and I have never been so welcomed, I am well traveled and most comfortable here. Keep it up! I will be returning in the future.

Very nice hotel. Everything was very clean, the rooms were comfortable, the breakfast was enormous, and the front desk people very helpful. I took the stairs quite often as the elevator was painfully slow. But, even in spite of that minor point, I still highly recommend.

  • 5/5 Craig B. 2 years ago on Google
Lovely rooms, great windows, the curtains really block out all the light for great sleeping and the bed and pillows were sooooooo comfortable! On-site private parking for guests and right across the street from the T-Mobile center, and 2 blocks from Power and Light District. Great location and very convenient. Not cheap, but worth it if you don't want to deal with traffic and parking.

The hotel was clean, our room was very comfortable, and the staff was very nice. There was a great variety of food for breakfast and it tasted great. This is a great location to stay if attending an event at the T-Mobile Center as it's basically across the street and you can walk.
