I don't get it, I wouldn't stay here again. Overall staff were helpful generally. They lacked an adequate business centre, they instead print documents if you email them. There's a number of reasons why I'm of the opinion that a computer with a printer is really, really, needed at a hotel. Please consider having a computer and a printer. The primary reason we picked this hotel was for the terrasse, widely praised in the reviews of this hotel. The terrasse was closed for the duration of our stay and is not opened for hotel guests, only corporate functions. Brutal and mind boggling to say the least. That's the best amenity the hotel has (and it's acknowledged in the advertising) and it isn't open.. I don't get it. We were welcomed by used toilet paper in the toilet. Not a huge deal, could be hotel environment policy, but it definitely didn't give me initial confidence. I would classify the housekeeping as adequate but clumsy. Bed was clean. See some pictures for some of the weird oddities of things that were rushed, forgot, or poorly thought through. Housekeeping was daily. Room: Did not make sense to me. The shower had a glass wall that looked into the main room. It isn't opaque enough to provide privacy, so it completely removed the possibility of friends coming over while we got ready. It's such an unnecessary inconvenience feature. Also, personally I don't like waterfall showers, but ours has a mysterious pulse in it, perhaps this could be a plumbing issue? Worth a check. You have to put the room key in a slot in the wall to turn the lights on. Why? We quickly put a gift card in the slot to use lights as they were intended to be used, with a switch like responsible adults. Very annoying, and also pointless for any "green" reason in my view given this override and multiple keys. The toilet was square and uncomfortable. Toilets have been oval for years, they work great. No need to change. No dresser, just some inconvenient bed drawers that I wouldn't use. Bed, desk, chair, washroom. Small flat screen TV. No smart feature that I could find. Parking was expensive, but expected. Overall, I just don't get it. There's nothing unsafe or sketchy about this hotel, it does have a modern vibe and an overall clean feel, but there's just too much here that didn't make any practical sense to me. Hotels work just fine. No need to reinvent the wheel.

Well designed. Comfortable beds. Great staff. Good location. Chic. It’s pretty hard to fault this place and I’ve stayed here more times than I can remember. Griffintown is a new neighbourhood with good places to eat and a short walk to Place Bonaventure. The hotel is not fancy, but more than comfortable and a nice place to lay one’s head. Highly recommended.

Awesome hotel!! I had to book a hotel super last minute, front desk staff were super kind and accommodating. The hotel is located in a trendy and safe neighbourhood, with lots of restaurants and high end businesses. It’s not far from downtown. Our room was extremely clean, quiet, and had a cool modern design. One thing to be aware of is that the hotel is located in the same building as a nightclub. We couldn’t hear any of the music from our room, but just be aware that you’ll see bouncers and many people smoking outside.

After reading good reviews we decided to book here. We aren't too hard to please when it comes to accommodations so didn't expect any issues. Sadly we did not enjoy our stay. Our first night was awful- the mattress was sagging in the middle, and much too soft. We weren't able to sleep at all that night, which ruined our first day because we were too tired to do anything. Thankfully they were able to switch us to another room for the remainder of our stay, and that our new room had a much better mattress. The location of the hotel is in an industrial area and a lot of condo construction. We didn't like the area much and found it hard to get places since the public transit wasn't very close by. We did like the easy access to the Bixi bikes. The walls here felt paper thin. We could hear conversations in neighbouring rooms, banging doors, the elevator dinging all the time, people talking in the hallways, even at 3am. Overall the rooms lacked privacy and I felt like I had to whisper in our room. Oddly, there is actually a glass wall looking right into the shower from the bed area... so even the bathroom lacks privacy if you are sharing the room with someone else. One positive thing I have to say is that the rooms were very clean, but considering the nightly price, I would not recommend this hotel.

Rooms were cozy and elegantly designed but lacked a few basic amenities like a microwave, kettle for hot water or breakfast, etc. Parking with in and out privileges is around $32. The restroom had a modern sliding door but with no latch, so little discomfort if you are planning to stay with kids, good if you are staying as a couple or alone. But the location of the hotel overshadows all the above negative feedback.

I used to really like this hotel. A good price for a good location, decently clean and renovated rooms. However my most recent experience was beyond disappointing and I'll never be staying here again.... after handwashing two pieces of (precious) clothing, I left them to air dry in the closet. Upon checking out I forgot to take them, so I called the hotel back a few hours later. Instead of going to my room to check for them/ask the cleaning person, they told me to call back the next day to ask housekeeping. I continued to call back for two more days and finally after the 4th call and basically begging them to check for me, they told me they had not found the items. I had to continue to beg for them to ask housekeeping to see if the cleaning person had found them, and I was continuously faced with rude comments telling me I most likely didn't leave anything, and that the housekeeping 'has to work too' (as in they don't have time to speak with me), and asking if the reason I wanted to speak with the housekeeping manager is to 'tell her to not trust her employee'. Just very shocking and upsetting comments. They basically kept trying to get me off the phone and to get me to just let it go. This has never happened to me before at any hotel or Airbnb, I've always been able to recuperate left items in my room (especially when I've called back hours after leaving). This level of dishonesty and disrespect was beyond disheartening....

Excellent hotel. The room was very spacious and the staff quite friendly. Lots of room to store bags during the stay and room to move around. Lots of access to restaurants and grocery within walking distance. My only recommendation is to add hooks in the bathrooms so towels can be reused (especially during Covid as they do not clean the room every day).

I recently stayed at Hôtel Alt Montréal and I was thoroughly impressed with my experience. From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I was greeted with a warm and friendly welcome from the staff. The hotel itself is modern and chic, with beautiful design details throughout. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable with all the amenities I needed for my stay. The blackout curtains meant I had a great night's sleep and was well-rested each morning. I also appreciated the eco-friendly initiatives that the hotel has put in place, such as recycling bins in the room and refillable shampoo and conditioner dispensers in the shower. The location of the hotel is perfect, close to restaurants and cafes and only a short walk or metro ride away from downtown. The staff was knowledgeable about the local area and gave great recommendations for places to visit.

All around decent experience. Good hotel for business travelers or those that will be out most of the day, but would avoid if you're a family as the rooms are quite small. Staff were very friendly and helpful. No real food options but there's a variety of good places to eat nearby. It's quite pricey for the amount of space they give you.

The rooms in this hotel have a luxurious interior but are not clean. In the bathrooms is mold, and there is dust everywhere. We even found hair in the shower. One of the windows was covered in condensation, which was between the layers of glass. The walls are thin as well. You can understand pretty much everything your neighbors say. The gym was nice and on the 7th floor was a balcony you can use. It was pretty hard to understand the staff at the reception because of their level of English language. During the checkout, there was not even the question of whether everything was okay.

Great space and very cozy and clean rooms. My last visit had some annoyances with the room amenities - mostly with having a place to plug electronics/make coffee. The wall plug would reset the fuse anytime I tried making a coffee. Otherwise I had a very enjoyable stay

Good place to stay while your bussiness or vacation trip) We came in for check-in at 9 p.m. and it took us only few minutes, staff explained everything correctly, took a security deposit and we checked into the room. There was high, wide and comfortable bed, 4 pillows, tv, iron, hairdryer, coffeemachine and we were able to set temperature inside and that's good 'cause when we first came the ac worked too hard for us. We slept well that night thanks to the nice bed and the blinds on the window that didn't let sunlight into the room)) In the morning we had our check-out which also took us 5-10 minutes, they checked the room quickly and returned my security deposit. The only thing about the washroom - Our room was clearly only for couples, as the wall in the shower cabine was half transparent and from the room you could see what was happening inside the shower cabine and the bathroom door was like a door to the closet that's you could hear everything that was going on there. But it wasn't a problem for us since I came with my partner) Thank you!

Loved this pet friendly hotel. Friendly staff, clean rooms and they even gave our dog a cute bed and treats. The rooms are small but well designed with an attractive modern flair. Good location for visiting Montreal.

Don't forget to use HoteITully.ᴄᴏm when booking a hotel. They compare hundreds of booking web sites and usually will have rates much cheaper than others! Thank me later! This place is one of the highest rated in this area. I've been coming here for a very long time. If you choose this place you for sure won't be let down. A convenient, well maintained, homely hotel directly opposite a tram station. The hotel has good city views on the upper floors and is only a few minutes walk to major supermarkets and southern cross station.

Apparently when you stay at this hotel, having your room cleaned daily is a privilege. We left our hotel room at 11 am and returned at 2:30 pm to find our room has not been cleaned. When I called down to reception to ask for our room to be cleaned, I was told I’m supposed to let them know by 10 am and I’m supposed to put the card out on the door to clean my room. Housekeeping is leaving in 20 minutes and she can’t guarantee the room will be cleaned. I said I stay at hotels all the time and I’ve never had to do this. The rude receptionist said that’s how they work here. I suggested they tell people that when they check in . She simply said to “have a good one” and hung up. This hotel will take your money but won’t hire enough staff to ensure you have clean rooms. Extremely disappointed

Quarantine stopover nightmare I stayed in this hotel for mandatory quarantine stopover with 3 children. This review is for food only. If you are staying in ALT hotel Montreal expect to eat cold food without water , dessert or any fruits. They say the price you pay come with meal but it is not true because all you get is half menu, pre-made cold food Sandwich not fresh without anything to drink or dessert of any kind. I asked the staff if they can give me a bottle of water they told me to drink tap water. If you are traveling with children there is no menu for the kids, no drink as well. For 500$ a night they charge management should take time to review food for health safety standards before assuring customers. They must know customers are being feed half meal. I don't even understand why Canada allow Hotel like this to take advantage of people like this. The staff are very nice, they actually know the food sucks but have no control to change things. This hotel should be removed on quarantine list, you don't want to get stack there because the quality of food will slowly kill you. Quarantine Traveller Be Aware

Stayed for one night for business trip. Overall good, parking, modern room, comfortable bed, very close to Centre Bell (20 mins walking distance), plus you need your room card to use the elevator. However when I walked back to the hotel at night (around 10pm) a creepy guy followed me into the lobby and then went into the elevator. Obviously he was not a hotel guest because he just waited in the elevator without using a room card. I then left the elevator and the door closed. However the elevator didn't move up or down and when two ppl pressed the open door button he was still there, like he was waiting for someone, without doing or saying anything. I was scared and waited outside the elevator for a while until another elevator was available. Weird, just too weird, it's an extreme security vulnerability.

We got a corner room on a high floor and the view was fantastic. The room itself was unique in its decor, and clean and modern overall. Staff is highly professional and capable of dealing with complications in reservations. We ran into some issues with parking since their usual garage was closed for renovation, and with the additonal amenities we added to our stay. Both were resolved very quickly and satisfactory, so it was no problem in the end. Their breakfast partnership with the bakery around the corner works quite well, they have a variety options of very high quality.

I have stayed at this hotel for personal and business. The rooms are simple but that is the brand. You are getting a comfortable room, with a good sized bathroom, a desk and a coffee maker that makes good coffee. That is all I ask for. The front desk is always helpful. I love being in Griffintown, it is close to just about everything, good restaurants, good walks on the Canal. Highly recommend.

First time trying this hotel, I will definately return. I loved the industrial look room, clean clean clean and large walkin shower. Very affordable when comparing to rooms in the Old Port. Location is also convenient, walking distance to the Ild Port and Ste Catherines st. Hotel has indoor parking.

This place is amazing! Both us and our dog loved it. The room is modern and clean. Location is great, close to many restaurants, cafes and grocery stores. They are super dog friendly. They provided comfy dog beds and bowls for our dog during our stay. Highly recommend if you are travelling with your fur baby!

Loved my stay at the ALT. My only issue was with the parking, it costed me $52 dollars for just 2 days. Perhaps if the parking was included they would have earned a 5 ⭐️ In my books

Hotel was fine. Problem was that we had our car stolen from the underground hotel parking lot hours after we arrived. When we asked the hotel manager for details of what was caught on the security video we did not get timely responses.

Excellent hotel, in a perfect location. Night clubs, restaurants, amenities (Shoppers, Dollarama, etc…) and transit all within a 0 to 3 minute walk. Stayed here while attending Osheaga 2023, and would recommend it to anyone (comfortable taking public transit)—just a few bus stops from the front entrance at Parc Jean-Drapeau.

Excellent hotel stay. Modern, chic rooms. Friendly and helpful staff. Relaxing lobby area — a friend had a migraine but was able to rest in the lobby and had it go away. Good common meeting area on the 7th floor. A bunch of us would go there every night and play board games/socialize. A bit on the pricy end — just under 300 bucks a night. That’s high considering there’s no swimming pool access (although there is a gym) — hence docking off 1 star.

Staff were great, helpful and understanding. Did their best to accommodate every guest, English or French. Rooms were spacious and clean, and the building was eco friendly with automatic lights in the hallways and suites. Make sure to visit the 7th floor for the outdoor common lounge overlooking the river & Peel Street. Countless restaurants, bakeries and attractions surrounding the hotel, as well as Old Montreal & Notre Dame Basillica just walking distance away. Great location to book, will come back again!

This hotel has a boutique feel which i thought was unique. The staff is so incredibly friendly and the location is amazing. The only thing that has potential for improvement are the blinds. They dont block out the daylight very well so it was hard to sleep past sunrise. Other than that it is a great place to stay. Also the odd shower with one of its glass walls in the room itself so you can see someone showering or using the toilet from the bed LOL. Not a big deal if youre a solo traveler or couple but definitely could be an issue for families.

Stayed for 5 nights and they moved us to 3 separate rooms. First room was unbearably cold and took hours to warm. No fridge or microwaves. Hallways a dark. End up losing a watch a result of packing and unpacking 3x.

The double beds are really narrow, inches narrower than the standard 60” of a queen bed. That’s unacceptable for a one week stay, and frankly not properly described on the website, which says queen. It is also significantly narrower than the beds at Alt Hotel in Brossard! The location is excellent and the AC works well (heat pump).

The hotel is really clean, safe and the rooms are really modern. If there was anything I would complain about is the rooms have no ice bucket. The in-wall TV has an HDMI outlet below it if you need that. There are multiple USB outlets for charging.

Very nice hotel in a centric place, the room is not huge but the design makes it feel bigger than it is, it is very modern and space effective. The TV has a chromecast, which we used once, it was an unexpected thing we enjoyed a bit. The staff is nice and there is parking on the same building which, although not free, is convenient. There are free restaurants and shops nearby, but a mere 15 min walk in all directions will get you to lots of places and things to do. It was by far a better option than nearby airbnbs which were basically the same cost.

We chose this hotel as it was pet friendly and close to our home as we needed a place to stay after moving out. Bed way too soft, washroom doors are magnetized and loudly click when closing and also have a very big gap. We were a couple and we share almost everything but not EVERYTHING. Don't stay here if you want or need bathroom privacy from your partner. We had a pet and they put a pillow and bowls out for him. Nice touch. If I was on a business trip and it was just me, I'd stay here. Close enough to downtown but still get the quietness of not being that close. Wouldn't stay here as a couple or a family.

Worst experience ever My girlfriend fell and scratched her knee I called for room service asked them for band-aid got told that they don't do room service in this Hotel... Went downstairs politely asked for a bandaid and Miss Gianina answered with her back turned to me. Got told that its 7$ I mean reallly?? Asked to speak to a supervisor she refused. Extremely rude this young lady. Next time woke wanted some orange juice they brought it to my room in less than 2 minutes.

The rooms are well designed, housekeeping is good, the sheets are amazing, and you can tell they care. A couple issues stem from a large event and their capacity to handle the influx of people. We had issues with how they structured reservations, not enough staffing, and key cards not working. I would look into better capacity planning and process improvement involving event hotel registrations because otherwise we had a lovely stay.

The room was great! We loved that there was a Chromecast connected to the TV. The bed was maybe a bit softer than I'd prefer but it was fine. We had a corner room and didn't hear any noise from other hotel guests the entire time we were there. The hotel is reasonably close to the Bonaventure metro station too.

Had a great time here. Location is alright, need to Uber it everywhere. Found the public transit very easy to catch from here. The hotel rooms were clean, nicely appointed, roomy enough for 2 adults and 2 kids. Staff were pleasant and helpful. I read the other reviews and noticed that they singled out staff being rude, rooms being too loud, etc. I haven’t noticed any of that. I would come back again.

Awful experience. Booked ahead of time on Expedia and made sure they were pet friendly and we’d have no issues in bringing our 2 dogs. We arrive and they only allow 1 dog and you cannot leave them in the room alone at all. How is that useful? Staff was incredibly rude in dealing with the issue. We left and got a hotel elsewhere

The location of this hotel is fantastic and very close to old Montreal (about 24 min walk). A coupe of beefs which if I were alone and not with kids wouldn't have minded: The bathroom makeup mirror had finger print marks from the previous person who had used it and one of the coffee cups had something inside it (hadn't been cleaned -- made me wonder if/how well everything else was cleaned). The bedroom window blinds didn't go all the way down so there was lots of light from surrounding buildings and the street coming into the room and there was no fridge in the room, no breakfast and Parking was pricey at $32 (although parking is expensive everywhere in downtown Montreal). The staff were super friendly though and the bed itself was comfortable and clean, which again is the most important part of staying at a hotel.

I really enjoyed my stay over the thanksgiving weekend! All employees were helpful and friendly, the public spaces were clean, and my room was inviting with incredible design. There was a Nescafe in the room and Chromecast with the TV. I enjoyed the restaurant Zibo! Which was right beside the hotel. The only amenity I wish I had was a small fridge in the room. Other than that my stay was perfect and I will come here again.

Very modern, clean hotel with kind, friendly staff and very uncomfortable (too soft) beds. They went above and beyond for my wife’s birthday. Room was very nice, amazing views of the city. Would for sure come back despite the giant pillow of a bed! Hah

  • 1/5 Jeremy T. 2 years ago on Google
To start I will say the room was clean, this is about the only good thing i can say about this hotel. When checking in, the front desk clerk alerted me to a $50 deposit for incidentals in the room, which was no problem. Later that night I was looking at my visa statement and there appeared to be about $110 in additional charges. I went to the front desk and inquired she said it was $50/night not for the entire stay, which again was not a problem however it would be helpful to make that clear to the guest. I also had asked if all the mattresses were very soft, the front desk clerk said she had never heard that complaint. Well the mattress in our room was like sleeping on a half deflated air mattress, it was the most uncomfortable bed we had ever slept on. After a night of barely getting any sleep I went down to inquire about changing rooms, the staff advised they were full but we could get another room after 4pm. However they asked us to check out now and take all of our bags and return at 4pm. I declined this offer as we had an entire day planned. I went back to the room to find another hotel and booked our remaining two nights there. When I checked out of Alt Montreal, the front desk person (a new person now) had no idea what was going on, he asked how our stay was to which i replied, we are checking out two days early so not great at all. At no point was there an apology of any kind. I would strongly advise avoiding this hotel.

Clean and well kept property, with some reasonable amenities. Some key items like a fridge in room are missing. The overall feel is modern, but to the point that things feel a bit spartan. If you’re going to be spending time in the room, the TV is mostly news available only. Great proximity to restaurants, and downtown core, overall, I would stay here again if needed, but I will explore other options.
