DO
NOT
Seek
early
influenza
/
flu
assistance
at
this
facility
-
insurance
covered
tests
are
apparently
not
available.
Suggested
an
$800
out
of
pocket
option
was
-
I'm
not
that
sick
yet...
My
experience
was
laughable
and
made
me
feel
quite
the
fool
for
my
wasted
time
and
the
copay.
I
went
in
as
my
wife
recently
tested
positive
with
the
flu.
Now
several
days
later
I
have
begun
with
a
cough
/
raw
chest.
Her
treating
doctor
suggested
that
I
see
a
doctor
immediately
if
I
begin
having
symptoms
as
the
anti
viral
is
really
only
effective
if
taken
within
the
first
24-48
hours
of
symptoms.
The
UMC
QuickCare
front
staff
were
kind,
and
check
in
was
smooth.
The
intake
nurse
was
nice,
and
for
what
its
worth
the
doctor
wasn't
unkind.
I
explained
that
I
wasn't
horribly
sick
yet,
but
started
to
experience
symptoms
the
prior
day
and
that
my
wife
had
just
been
tested
positive
for
flu
a
few
days
prior.
The
doctor
listened
to
my
chest
and
my
explanation
about
my
wife
having
flu
/
my
cough
and
raw
chest
and
said
I
do
not
have
flu
(no
test
ordered).
When
I
inquired
about
a
flu
test
he
explained
that
"since
covid"
they
no
longer
have
a
flu
test,
but
a
combination
flu
/
covid
test
called
Sofia,
and
that
insurance
will
not
normally
cover
it
and
it
may
cost
$800.
This
does
not
seem
right
for
an
urgent
care
facility,
which
is
part
of
the
Anthem
network,
not
to
be
able
to
test
for
flu
in
a
way
that
insurance
will
typically
cover.
Intermountain
did
this
for
my
wife
not
2
days
ago
simply
and
with
no
hassle.
I
do
appreciate
him
letting
me
know
before
ordering
a
test
that
would
cost
me
$800
that
insurance
would
not
cover,
but
I
don't
believe
this
to
be
normal
for
an
urgent
care
facility.
He
would
not
prescribe
an
anti
viral
for
flu,
and
wrote
script
for
Claritin
and
something
for
the
cough.
He
explained
that
pharmacies
sell
at
home
flu
tests,
to
take
one
and
bring
the
results
back,
if
it
tested
positive
he
would
be
able
to
provide
a
prescription.
First,
this
seems
unconventional
-
I
have
never
heard
of
such
a
thing
as
a
patient
coming
into
urgent
care
with
early
Flu
symptoms
being
told
of
an
extreme
cost
of
a
flu
test,
then
when
not
agreeing
to
an
$800
charge,
being
told
to
go
take
an
at
home
test
and
return
with
the
results
to
receive
a
prescription.
I
tried
seeking
help
from
anthem
on
a
call
while
at
their
office,
however
the
UMC
facility
was
unable
to
provide
a
"procedure
code"
for
the
flu
test,
so
the
insurance
provider
couldn't
do
anything
to
assist.
Maybe
this
administrative
issue
is
the
problem
and
why
UMC
patients
are
paying
$800
for
a
Flu
test?
If
so,
seems
like
a
simple
fix.
Secondly,
I
was
going
to
play
ball
in
order
to
get
help
so
I
checked
on
at
home
tests
-
they
exist,
however
basically
no
pharmacies
seem
to
stock
them
(at
least
not
the
local
walmart,
walgreens
or
CVS
in
Vegas)...
so
that
is
of
no
help.
I
can
pay
$130
for
a
test
at
the
Pharmacy
I
guess...
The
point
of
this
long
review
is
-
UMC
-
something
is
clearly
wrong
here.
I'm
not
suggesting
its
your
doctors
fault
or
your
staffs
fault,
it
may
be
an
administrative
issue...
and
it
IS
early
in
the
flu
season
-
but
if
you
can't
offer
an
influenza
A/B
test
that
is
covered
by
Anthem
you
should
absolutely
not
be
listed
as
an
in-network
urgent
care
provider
for
them
as
the
flu
is
a
pretty
typical
test
to
order.
If
your
doctor
did
not
believe
I
should
be
tested
after
heavy
exposure,
that's
neglect.
I
am
now
going
to
Intermountain
Healthcare
to
have
a
SECOND
urgent
care
visit
for
the
day.
My
wife
and
I
did,
however,
have
a
very
good
experience
with
Intermountain
Health
Care
(Wynn
location)
just
two
days
ago...
their
staff,
the
doctor
and
the
facility
were
EXCELLENT
and
they
open
a
little
earlier,
at
7am.
I
now
very
much
regret
trying
to
save
that
short
drive
and
not
going
there
first
this
time...
100%
worth
the
drive.
I
hope
that
I
save
a
neighbor
the
trouble
and
expense
in
the
future
of
seeking
early
attention
for
Flu
symptoms
when
they
have
clearly
been
heavily
exposed
to
the
flu,
I
wouldn't
consider
my
experience
to
measure
up
to
a
reasonable
standard
of
care.
