First time at Js' Reservations recommended for Friday & Saturday night. ...We did not have a reservation, but when the hostess realized it was our first visit she kindly found us a table. Kerry our server was great!! (It can be hard to find skilled servers, Kerry was skilled!!) The food... really amazing! My honey ordered the Glazed Salmon over basmati sesame rice with cashews, a little veggies and garlic bread Also includes a salad, he chose Caesar. I had Chicken Marsala served over fettuccine, loads of veggies and garlic bread. I chose the house salad with gorgonzola dressing. I'm not quite sure where to start... Best salad ever! Both salads were great! The unexpected star on my salad was the little Peruvian peppers, also known as sweety drop peppers. Little tiny things with a sweet tangy pop of YUM! The meals were both equally amazing! The salmon had a nice sweet & spicy glaze. The Marsala sauce was rich and bold with plenty of mushrooms. Honestly I do a little happy dance when I get really good food... I was happy dancing!! The meals were cooked perfectly! All in all a really great dining experience set is a really cool historic building in historic Dayton! Thank you Kerry!!!! I very highly recommend Js' Old Town Bistro

Hollie We have eaten here a few times and really like it,we went last night an waiter female cared more about the other diners as it took 20 minutes to get drinks an another 15 to order. I ordered the clams with lingui an was very dissatisfied, it was really fishy tasting an shouldn't I don't recommend. The service sucked.

Low lit, diamond in the rough service, palette pleasing menu, dinner was worth every 5 star 🌟

We have eaten there a couple of times. The food and service is pretty good overall. We made reservations for dinner the other night. We walked in an were told we had to have masks on to walk the 20 feet to the table. (where we would be able to then remove the masks). So we left. I am not willing to deal with this polarizing issue anymore. But the worst part of it was the attitude.

Loved the food, service and the ambience. The only issue is the loudness if you have people that talk loud behind you. But overall it was great. We had a good birthday dinner there.

My husband surprised me with a date night on our 22nd wedding anniversary. First time actually eating in the restaurant. We started with drinks at the bar, the bartender (female) seemed either short-fused or having a bad night snapped when I couldn't hear her well(I have bad hearing). However, that resolved as we moved to our table. Brea was our server she was fantastic and her personality is fantastic, I told her about a chicken marsala that couldn't be beaten but I couldn't get it and missed it, she stated theirs would beat it... I ordered it!!! She told the chef Brandon about my statement... (It BLEW THE OLD PLACE OUT OF THE WATER!!) THE MARSALA is amazing!!! I'll be having it at least once a month.

Absolutely, amazing menu and cocktails and wine! I had the lamb chops and bruchetta sampler! I am here every 2 months and drive 50 miles to eat here. This trip I had 2 colleagues with me and they will also be back! I have eaten just about every restaurant and this one is by far the best!!! Reservations required!

We used to love Jay's but the last two times we've eaten there, it's been awful. New chef? We won't be returning. We went for my birthday, sat in the middle of four large, thunderous parties, and couldn't hear each other speak. The fried calamari was mushy and had the consistency of oatmeal. The Caesar salad - meh. The steak and chicken dishes were pretty good, but again, the meal was ruined because my husband and I couldn't even have a conversation. It was so bad that I chose to forego my favorite dessert at Jay's for cupcakes from Smith's. We drove home and ate birthday cupcakes where we could enjoy each other's company. I have no idea what changed over the past year, but what was once a five-star restaurant is now a one-star—what a shame.

Horrible service and prices are WAY too expensive for what you get. They bothered us constantly like we were being totally rushed. All of us (5) people, all of our orders were messed up. While we're waiting for our steaks to be redone, they kept trying to clear our plates off of the table. I do NOT suggest that anyone go there. I spent $328 and gave a 20% tip and didn't even get a thank you... and I looked at the menu on their website and we were excited about the options. Everytime we wanted what was on the website, they didn't have it.

Took a friend, we both knew the owner, but she'd never been there. Atmosphere and food awesome!

Great food. The atmosphere of the old building made for an attractive and quiet enough environment for a nice dinner with my wife. The filet mignon with the Cognac pepper sauce was delicious and worth every penny.

Delicious food in a fabulous restaurant. The history on the 1930’s deco bar is very cool and it’s a beautiful piece of crafty. Everything we had is worth ordering again! Filet mignonette was cooked to perfection. The caprese salad was traditional and perfect. Great staff- very helpful and obliging. Looking forward to our next visit. No pic of the soup- we enjoyed it too quickly!

I ate here with a party of 6 in Nov. '22 reservations are a must. Wow, I was very pleased, a little rustic decor, excellent service (my water was in front of me asap) and our server was a delight. I kind of consider myself a critic. Just relocated here from the wine country of Sonoma, CA, so I'm used to fine dining. 😉 We ordered appetizers, salads, soup, our main courses, and dessert. Nothing was a disappointment! The side Caesar salad was fantastic, and I can't wait to have it again! Hoping the prime rib is still offered on Fridays. Not understanding the poor reviews I'm seeing here as they make no sense to me. I'm going back soon with my family, who will be visiting from out of town, and I am confident/hopeful too, that our experience will rival the first. Please keep up the great work!!!

Never a bad time or a bad dish whenever my family and I dine here! The beef tips we had were absolutely amazing and highly recommend! The staff is always so inviting and friendly. Practically feels like family.

Met some friends here for dinner and it was perfect. Then you selections are outstanding. I was boring, and had a burger. It may have been one of the best burgers I ever ate. People I was with each enjoyed a pasta dish, and they loved it. Our server was awesome and they atmosphere is comfortable. Don't pass this place up.

Last night at J’s, I had one of the best experiences. The restaurant served 64 golfers. The staff at J’s did an amazing job of making sure everyone was satisfied with drinks, and delicious pizza appetizers made to perfection. I had the eggplant parm which I highly recommend- it was so delicious, the eggplant was cooked perfectly with a sauce that rocked my mouth with flavor. Then to top it all off, they served the best key lime pie I have ever eaten. Thank you, J’s Bistro for a fabulous & memorable dining experience.

To start off I never leave reviews but I had to for this! It was delicious!!! Me and my husband went here and he got the lamb and he loved it I got the scallops and it was perfect! I’m pretty picky on Italian but I was sooo happy with my food.I can’t wait to go back again! Me and my husband spent about 120 but 140 with tip we got two appetizers and two alcoholic drinks and our meals with soup or salad ❤️ Everything came out in good timing thank you guys it was awesome :)

I had the sea bass, not a lot of places have this but it was a special on the Christmas eve menu. It was very disappointing! It was barely 1/4 inch thick and breaded. Half as thick as a filet of fish for $48. Sadly I won’t do that again !

We had such a great time, it is definitely worth the money. We were hesitant at first but as soon as we walked in it was amazing. Julie greated us witha smile and set the mood and our server Tia made sure our night was one to remember. This is definitely our new date spot.

We Love Js' Old Town Bistro. It is the best food in Dayton. Their Fried Bussell Sprouts are the best thing ever! My husband enjoys their Steak and I'm a fan for the Marsala. Staff is always friendly. Make sure to make a reservation on Friday and Saturdays because you'll need one.

We went on a Saturday night, and even though they were very busy the food and service was exceptional! They even let my daughter try a sample of something before she ordered. Will definitely eat there again.

Nice place, but our appetizer of shrimp was way over cooked to the point we couldn't eat it when I mentioned it to the waitress, she told us that she would let the kitchen know.... never heard back and of course, we still had to pay for it. My wife's croutons on her salad were so hard to eat, you'd need a chisel to break them up enough to chew. Our main courses were bland. Pretty sure they just had a bad night, because I've heard such great things about them. But, we just ate at Hells Kitchen in Tahoe......which was AMAZING! 2 weeks ago. So maybe my taste is expecting something more. Nice place tho.

Wonderful service unfortunately salads overdressed. Salmon dish special very good but the Italian sausage with peppers not worth mentioning.

What can I say about this place other than its a gem in a small town. It's so nice to have a fine dining restaurant in Dayton. Went here for my birthday and the waitress was very nice, extremely accommodating, and attentive to our needs. Sure the meals are a little pricey, but its because your getting the best ingredients and homemade sauces and dressings. Haven't gotten a bad meal yet, personally recommend the chicken marsala or the steak special. Treat yourself even if it's just for one night, and your helping a small business stay alive.

Food was good! Had a white wine sangria, which has fruit in it, make sure you eat the fruit as fruit Soaks up most of the alcohol. Staff was really good at their job.

Had a good night out to dinner. But, the main dinner food needed to be seasoned more. Had the shrimp and sausage with peppers,it looked like a brown glob on a plate and you could not even see the pepper and onion, it was very oily. Also did prime rib it was good but under seasoned on both meals
