We had some fantastic food last weekend. Burrito, a mix of tacos, roasted corn, a mix of chips and dips, margaritas, and tres leches cake!! The bartender knows their stuff and everything was seasoned very well. My favorite was actually the sweet potato taco. It's so good and the goat cheese is a nice addition. Service was also really good as well.

Ordered the steak fajitas. The food was good. They had average to small sized portions of meat, the tortillas were a little dry but the steak was very tender and flavorful. Sat outside, had a really nice ambiance and the heaters were awesome. Staff was great I’d give an extra half star just for them. They hooked me up with extra spicy hot sauce that was not on the menu. It won’t be your favorite spot but you won’t be upset that you went there, has good potential.

the tacos i got here were so delicious! ive been twice and each time my server was nice and incredibly helpful. Hope was super nice and helped me get a really tasty virgin drink from the bar. also love every salsa ive tried. cant wait to come back! ive never eaten inside (only the convenient outdoor dining with heaters) so that may be my next move.

A staple of Old Cloverdale, the burrito lounge is a unique but high end take on Tex Mex. Lots of great drinks, and flavors. The rustic outdoor seating can be great at the right times but can occasionally disappoint depending on weather and lighting. This explains the flash needed to photograph my plate. Glad it's been successful for as long as it has and wish then many many more years

Great little hidden gem in Montgomery (Cloverdale if your local). I've been to this area several times and didn't even know it was there. Tonight though a friend invited me and we had a great time. Server was exceptional and very helpful. We had done picky eaters and we had some adventurous ones. So lots of questions. Overall great eclectic food. Definitely not a typical Mexican restaurant. This place has that good good. Try there salsas why your there.

Really good taco place in Cloverdale. Street tacos are great! Not your average mexican offerings, definitely putting their own spin on things. Very patient answering my questions over the phone. The atmosphere is trendy and welcoming. I hope to enjoy the test of their taco menu from their outdoor seating soon.

One of my favorite restaurants. The best queso and drinks, whether it’s their extensive beer list or craft margaritas. Then the entrees and desserts are top notch as well. I’ve never had a bad meal at El Rey. Great outside dining area.

This is one of my most favorite places in the world! The scenery is beautiful, the food is DELICIOUS, the service is top-notch (our server let my daughter and niece and nephew feed the fish in the pond while we waited for our food. He also went out of his way to prepare corn for my picky nephew. The drinks are SO GOOD, and last but not least, the prices aren't insane! I can't wait to go while there's live music.

Get the Korean BBQ street taco! It’s so good. I was in town for one night only and this is where we went. Our hostess was great. Our food came out on the wrong plates, but the manager got it fixed ASAP. Refills came fast for drinks and chips.

Interior was just dim enough to make it hard to read the menus; music was just loud enough to make conversation an effort; service was on the slow side; but the burrito. Lots of things were happening in that burrito - all of them good. I hope to eat another one soon.

First time there, and I tried the grilled chicken street tacos. They were very good and filling. Salas was good, too.

This place is way over priced, read the menu very carefully! Had the fajitas which I assumed was steak, shrimp and catfish, what I failed to realize was they upcharge you for anything over one of these items, the other two are $10 each. So a very small platter of fajitas ended up costing $37.50. What a joke and they weren't even that good. Save your money there's better food with better service out there. Never again!

Been here more times than I can count. Came out to celebrate birthdays for our children and their friends, and left after being attacked in the middle of the restaurant. Our kids (girls) were told not to stand on the toilet by a random man (an Employee) who came to our table and attacked them. When we, the parents, questioned it we were told it would be handled only to be attacked when we were leaving by the “general manager”. She looked like she was looking for a confrontation. We were told we need to learn how to conduct ourselves, but all we said was that our girls didn’t stand on the toilet, also asked how this random man (employee we were later told) would know that they did. Did he look at them somehow?? We were literally attacked after spending $200. “We will greet you with open arms to return, but learn how to conduct yourselves”. Then she ran away without answering me when I asked how we didn’t conduct ourselves correctly. We didn’t do anything wrong. We weren’t loud. We didn’t get up except one time to use the restroom. I called multiple times when we left and was hung up on. That is why I’m posting here. My child said let me stand on the toilet after she saw a bug. She’s a girl. Get over it. She didn’t stand on it as my other child was using the toilet at the time. The general manager, if you want to call her that, attacked us and ran off when I asked what she was talking about. My kids are so upset after this experience. Not sure what actions will follow, but someone will answer me. Our waiter, however, was amazing.

If you're in Montgomery, Alabama and looking for a truly exceptional dining experience, look no further than El Burrito Lounge in Old Cloverdale. This hidden gem deserves nothing less than a five-star rating, and here's why. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a vibrant atmosphere. The cocktails were simply wonderful, crafted with precision and bursting with flavor. Each sip was a delightful journey for the taste buds. And let's not forget about the cuisine - the bites were absolutely delicious, leaving us craving for more. However, the true star of our evening was Anthony, an incredible steward of the restaurant and the most delightful host. His attention to detail, genuine warmth, and impeccable service elevated our experience to a whole new level. Anthony's recommendations were spot-on, and his passion for the culinary arts shone through in every interaction. El Burrito Lounge, with its wonderful cocktails, delicious bites, and the exceptional service provided by Anthony, is an absolute must-visit in Montgomery.

First visit. Service was a little slow, seemed to be a little short staffed. Chorizo cheese dip was very good. Fajitas were a little bland. Loved the black beans and rice.

WhiteCheese dip was orange way old and obviously no good when Togo order was made had gritty texture and was so greasy it slid out of container in a solid glob also ordered extra chicken maybe a 3-4 oz well charred tough for 8.00 and a chicken quesadilla with beans and rice and mild salsa chicken was also well charred and thats all you taste is charred figured i would see if my mild salsa would over power the taste so i didnt waste 30.00 it wasnt salsa it was some red liquid fire definitely over powered the charred meat but too hot to eat rice was old at least i had some plain unsalted chips to eat waste of money I had it delivered delivery guy was here within 10 minutes of picking up

Mediocre food. Salsa was made with old garlic that was sprouting green and overpowering in flavor. Steak tacos were bland and served at Luke warm temperature. Service was poor. I was served the wrong order. I can't eat atmosphere. There has got to be better Mexican food in Montgomery.

Giving 2 stars- one for the nice waiter and the other for the 2 "edible" tacos. They were not good but edible. The chicken was dry in the chicken taco. The rice was extremely bland. And the refried Pinto beans had a weird taste. Only took 2 bites. Should have asked for the rice and beans to be removed from my tab.

I went here with my Ukrainian family, who didn't speak English very well, and the staff was extremely nice and patient with us, as I translated the menu to them. Food was delicious, as well as the margaritas we got for the table. Our waiter, Joseph, even went out of his way to say "enjoy" in Ukranian. We definitely enjoyed our dinner here, and will come here again! Tip: if eating at night, try eating outside, they have a wonderful porch area, and the inside gets extremely dark at night, so it can be hard to read the meal. This could also be because we visited later than normal dinner hours, so they might've been in "bar mode".

Another local hole in the wall eatery. Great staff, wide selection of beers and mixed drinks. Mexican themed, with catfish, chicken, steak and shrimp. They sometimes run out of Tempe. Hey have good tofu. They used to serve delicious meals using soy curls, but abruptly stopped. Last night I had a Jimica salad with marinated tofu. (Ran out of tempe)

The catfish and cabbage tacos were amazing! I had a raspberry and a peach margarita which were good but didn’t taste strong at all. Customer service was good and although we sat inside, the patio looked fun and relaxing.

So worth it! This gem in the middle of Montgomery is a must for Mexican food lovers. Plenty of food is served and quite delicious. Service was quick and friendly. Check them out 🇲🇽

Excellent food, excellent fresh margaritas, and excellent beer! Jeremy and his staff will take great care of you at El Rey. I've been coming here for two years now and it never fails to impress me. Also, the laid back atmosphere is perfect for a chill evening hanging out with friends. One of my favorite places in Montgomery!

Went for some drinks and food and it was probably the worst “Hispanic” food I’ve ever had. Would not recommend. It’s not worth the money or time. Our waitress was also pretty rude.

  • 5/5 Matthew V. 5 years ago on Google
I love this place. Great vibe, always awesome service. They have a great beer selection. The food is good. The wait can get pretty crazy on the weekend and with large SOS parties. The reliability of a good place with good food and good service in Montgomery can be a challenge, but El Rey pulls it off. Keep up the good work, guys.

Stumbled upon El Reys while on a road trip, now we always look forward to passing through town just so we can stop in and get a delicious burrito:) love this place so much!!

This place will solve all your road-trip arguments with one simple burrito bite. The road from the highway was bazar but when we arrived we knew we were in the right place. Great food guys. You are the definition of a hidden gem.
