MUST GO TO FOR MONTREAL. Definitely recommended for good reason. There are 30+ different poutines. They come in 2 sizes — regular and large. Large is honestly massive and now we have leftovers for the next 2-3 days of our trip haha. The food is amazing and the service was quick and great! I will definitely be returning

The first place that comes to my mind when someone asks me where to eat a good poutine! The options at this place are many however the less ingredient I add to my poutine the more I find it tasty. The Classic one or the poutine with bacon, mushroom and pepper are just excellent and highly recommended. One thing I don’t like here is that the place is always packed and very crowded. I always feel like a have to eat very quickly to leave as soon as possible because of the noise

The hype is real, y’all!! You can get so many different types of poutine here, so rest assured that there is something for everyone. The service was exceptional as well. Could not have asked for a better experience. Best comfort food in town. I must add that the wait time was not long at all and they play really nice music as well. It seems like they have an outdoor patio too but it was closed during our visit. Would love to check it out next time I’m in the area.

Delicious poutine, kids menu was great because they have an option of fries or raw veggies. I got the Banquise burger and it was fresh. Overall great experience and the poutine with bacon didn’t disappoint.

Love the poutine here and make sure that I visit every time I am in Montreal. The options here are extensive and suits almost every dietary preference. The drinks here are pretty expensive and wouldn't recommend those. Only drawback are the sizes of the dish - the regular is pretty small and the large is too big, a middle option would be great!

It's been a long time since I wanted to try this place out and it didn't disappoint. The service was excellent and friendly and the food was absolutely delish!! We had the La T-Rex poutine, The Banquise burger and a side of onion rings. Can't wait to go back and try some of their many menu items!! Enjoy.

Second time cause it’s good. It’s always a little chaotic because there is tons of people crowded outside so you have to know if you’re trying to sit inside and eat there or order takeout and so we talked to a lot of people in the crowd to figure out what was happening. The poutine is a lot—even the regular size. Strongly recommend La Royale for a sweet apple flavor and La Fred Caillou for a meat fest.

From reading numerous reviews, this restaurant was recommended by various people. When we came here our experience was not as great as we had hoped it to be. Firstly be prepared to queue for up to an hour depending on how busy it is. The gravy for the poutine is vegetarian so this is a bonus for a lot of people. We were given time to order our food as the menu was varied. We decided to try the classic poutine and we were disappointed by this, gravy was cold and the cheese curds didn’t melt, we also had to ask for more gravy to make the dish taste better. We also ordered La Rachel but added hot peppers to enhance the taste and this certainly helped. This dish was great as the cheese curds had melted and there was enough gravy on the plate. As soon as you are nearly finished they ask you about splitting the bill and bring the bill over straight away. Overall we didn’t have a great experience here and will not be coming back again. I’m sure there are much better poutine places in Montreal, however this is great for vegetarians.

One of the craziest poutine I have ever ordered in my entire life. they have a big menu of different choice of protein you can on top of your fries. there are 2 lines for Dine in and take out. The Dine in lines is going fast, so if you want to eat inside you can. Definitely recommend it

There’s always a line outside la Banquise and people claim to wait hours in line and inside to get their food. Best time to go there is in morning when they open their doors. You’re likely to get seated fast and get your food fast before the crowd gets in. We got two different poutines and smoked meat sandwich and they were delicious (definitely not average as many reviews claim). Only complain I have about the poutine is maybe they could’ve added bit more cheese curds. The fries were excellent, gravy as well. 4/5 Smoked meat sandwich was very good and certainly satisfied my craving for the day. 4/5 Service was fast, friendly and efficient. 4/5 Even though it’s known to be a tourist trap, I would definitely recommend it to try

Busy, busy, busy place, even before dinner time! We were seated after waiting maybe less than 5 minutes. The staff were welcoming and made sure to check whether we felt comfortable with French or English. It was really appreciated! We waited about 20 minutes to get our food versus people who were sat right before us got their food much faster than our table. All three of us ordered regular sizes. The fries were crispy, not too soggy and crowned with a generous amount of toppings. While the toppings were nice additions, they weren’t anything to write home about. From a tourist’s perspective, this place is cool to check out once to say you’ve been there but I can’t say I’ll be craving the poutine when I return to The States.

There was a long line but tables for 2 get in faster. I tried the poutine with pickles and ground beef and loveddd it! I didn’t know what to expect the pickle to taste like but it all was great together. I’d say it’s a must try when in Montreal!

It was good but too much oily. Some potatoes were burned. Anyway, you can eat one of the best poutines here. It has a local and friendly atmosphere too. It was too difficult to find a parking lot.

First time here since the change in ownership and I have to say, things are still the same! It is worth the line up! The host today was energetic and very welcoming. One of the few poutine places in town that offer goat & vegan cheeses so we come here for that (due to a cow's milk allergy). There's a lot of options so you're bound to find something you'll like. Food arrived quickly as well! Spaces are a bit tight, but that's the fun of it!

Not really enjoy the poutine. But their service is super and the food itself is special to mention. The size of the dish is huge. Even the regular size is enough for more than one person. I especially like the beers they have. That is the best part for me. The reason I didn’t enjoy poutine is that I like the crispy fry which is not the case of poutine. This is purely personal preference.

The waiting was super long but the food was good. Came here two times and I recommended the smoke meat burger and poutine with guacamole, tomato, cheese, and sour cream. Both of them are very satisfying. It’s my first time trying poutine and the experience was tremendous!

I came here because I’ve read that they make the best poutine in town. To be honest I liked it very much, but I would have preferred a bit more gravy with the potatoes. The portions are huge and I consider that one regular size is more than enough for one person. There is a big variety of poutine in the menu and making a choice can be a difficult task. There was a line, but it moved relatively fast on a Wednesday evening. On the terrace they do not serve alcohol so make sure you ask for a table inside in case you want to have a beer. What I didn’t like was the waiting tome for the food. We ordered 3 portions of poutine and it took them like 30 minutes to bring it to us. There is also a vegetarian option.

Everybody told me that this is the best poutinerie, but now I doubt it. We had to wait 40 minutes for the food, and when the food arrived, the fries were cold (like old ones), the beef, onions and sausage were burned. Maybe it was because of the amount of people, but the quality of the food should not go down in such a renowned restaurant.

One of my favorite spots in Montreal, especially after a long day of traveling. I can’t recall all the poutine names I’ve tried, but they were all satisfying. Despite initial concerns about portion size, I managed to finish it all. The staff was welcoming and helpful.

You know what? It’s good, it’s really good. This is the number one place everybody keeps telling me to for poutine. “The number 1 poutine in Canada!” They said. I agree, you can’t find this in Toronto. It just tastes different. The quality of the curds and the gravy is outstanding. It’s a place open 24 hours a day and has a line 24 hours a day. We waited for quite a long while, I’m not too sure if the line was worth it though. I think it’s definitely worth it if I were to get it to go or if the line was a bit shorter. But the outstanding poutine doesn’t translate to the line for me. Don’t get me wrong, I love poutine, but not this much. I definitely recommend here to all my friends to try out poutine in Quebec, but it’s not so I’d wait in line for again. You get a really large menu, like you get a lot of things on your poutine. Mine personally came with bacon and mushrooms and sour cream and I think it’s the best one to be honest. It was called La Panoramix. My friend said topping to fries proportion was off (too little fries) and I agree for hers. I think the only reason I’m giving it a four star is for personal note. It’s too hyped up, even though everything is amazing. I’ll definitely come here again, but for takeout or something. Thank you for having me! :)

Awesome poutine place at any hour of the day since they are open 24 hours! Expect a line at peak hours, but it will be worth it. I ordered the classic and my boyfriend had the t-rex which is topped with lots of meat. I really liked the classic poutine - the gravy was good, fries were crispy, and cheese curds were a good consistency. The single serving size is the perfect amount for one person. The service was mediocre - our server was ending their shift so made us pay immediately after ordering and rushed off. Overall the poutine was really good and I'd go again next time I am in Montreal! I saw the original owners just sold the place. Hopefully the new owners keep the business exactly as is!

The most delicious poutine I had in my life. Wow menu! With lots of variety for different appetites. Quite busy but staff were running to serve and were friendly. I would recommend getting small plates first, because we barely could finish half of the big plate. But it’s so so good to have it even on the next day.

I should say Poutin is not for everyone. Some people can't enjoy it, but others love it I like the taste of the la Banquise poutine. I asked for extra crispy fries, which were served. I recommend to go for half size for one person. The first picture shows full size. The waitress was super professional, she listened carefully to tailor our order.

  • 5/5 Brent B. 9 months ago on Google
Hands down, the best poutinerie! I feel like they are crafting art. When I can't tell where the fries end and the meat begins, they have really crafted something special. This place is always busy, but the staff are always calm and relaxed. They definitely have good systems in place here. I've been here 3 times now, and it's a must visit whenever I am in Montreal.

Best poutine I have had in Montreal and I cannot wait to visit again. I love the taste of their fries ( slightly sweet) and their gravy is AMAZING -> so rich and dark, love!!!! The service was great and our waitress was very nice and helpful the entire meal. It’s definitely worth waiting in line for and your food is guaranteed fresh since it’s always busy. The cheeseburger was okay, nothing special for me.

Fantastic Poutine and Stellar Service! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5 stars) I recently had the pleasure of dining at this wonderful restaurant, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with quick and friendly service, and the cleanliness of the establishment was truly impressive. Let's start with the star of the show—the poutine! Oh my, the poutine here is out of this world. I opted for "La Scooby," and it was absolutely delicious. The combination of crispy fries, rich gravy, and perfectly melted cheese curds left my taste buds in awe. The regular size portion was massive, so much so that I couldn't finish it all by myself. I would definitely recommend getting a large and sharing it with someone—it's more than enough to satisfy your cravings. My girlfriend went for "La Taquise," and she couldn't stop raving about it. The unique blend of flavors, with the addition of other ingredients, made it an incredibly satisfying and tasty experience. It's evident that the restaurant takes pride in crafting each dish with care and using high-quality ingredients. Speaking of value, the prices at this restaurant are fantastic. Despite the generous portion sizes, we were pleasantly surprised to find that our bill came out to less than $40 for both of us. That's quite a steal considering the quality and quantity of the poutines we enjoyed. Overall, this restaurant has left a lasting impression on me. The delicious poutine, the quick and friendly service, the clean and inviting atmosphere—all contribute to an exceptional dining experience. Whether you're a local or just passing through, I highly recommend giving this place a try. You won't be disappointed! Note: This review is based on my personal experience and may vary for others.

Great selection of poutines from basic to off the wall toppings. Fries stayed crispy and didn’t turn to a soggy mess like most places. Portions were good for the pricing. Service was quick, courteous & helpful.

La Banquise in Montreal offers an array of amazing vegan options. Their vegan poutine is truly out of this world, and it's a must-try for anyone in the area. While the cleanliness of the place left a bit to be desired, the food itself was simply wow!

La Banquise is a must for a visit to Montreal. They have a lot of variety of poutines. All are good and delicious especially the options with smoked meat. 😋 Portions are MASSIVE. However, when I placed a to-go order it was a 45 min wait, and perhaps close to an hour and half wait to eat inside. For this reason, I do not have the desire to revisit La Banquise due to their tiring wait times but when I went, I enjoyed my meal.

The poutine was delicious. They have so many toppings to choose from. Warning the large was massive and could easily serve 4 people cause the containers are deep. Only down side was the wait time we were told was 20-25 min but ended up being closer to 50 min.

The hype is real! When we arrived here the line up was pretty long (we also came on a Saturday) The line didn’t take to long and we eventually got a table on the terrase (outside) one thing to note is that they don’t serve alcohol outside. They had really good music out on the patio as well. We ordered the regular size poutine, 1 classic and the other with smoked meat on top. They were both divine! Beware if you order the grande it’s MASSIVE! poutine so good we wanted to come back the next day to eat more.

This place always have long lines so make sure you come prepared to wait. Their poutine is one of the best I’ve tried. Curd cheese is so well made that just melts in your mouth. Just make sure you don’t over eat those curds as it clogs arteries 🤪. Many options to choose from. Highly recommend.

Some of the best poutine I've ever had. [Food] Absolutely delicious. I ordered La Chicks. The fries were perfectly crunchy, topped with cheese curds, delicious gravy, and tender breaded chicken. The meal was nothing short of perfect. [Service] I had a wonderful waitress who was very welcoming. [Atmosphere] The restaurant is a bit on the darker side but it enables an intimate experience with your poutine!

I was overwhelmed with the heartwarming welcome from the staff when we showed up early on Friday. Quite surprising for a popular touristy spot such as La Banquise. A big portion of poutine with a good variety of toppings going from the classic cheese curds with gravy, to Italian sausage with ground beef, bacon & pepperoni, smoked meat with mushrooms & onion rings on top, bell pepper, tomato, guacamole & sour cream and so on. A good ambiance with a nice vibe and beautiful decor. I also live the big terrace in the backyard. It's a must try if you are in the Mont-Royal area.

This was a great experience for the famous poutine. Everything tasted really good though the only complaint would be that it was a little salty and the gravy was a bit too sweet for my taste. The line was super long but well warranted and the atmosphere and staff was really nice.

Really cozy and homey vibe. Servers are super friendly and give good service. I came because I'm vegan and was looking for a place to try a poutine in Montréal. The poutine was ok, as a vegan it's so hard to find a poutine that has cheese curd like cheese in it, there is one place in Vancouver that comes close. I do think if I got something other than the classic I would have enjoyed it more, onions or mushrooms ok top sounds delicious.

Amazing, tasty poutine! One of the best I've ever had. Highly recommend the one with Chipotle sauce, Onion Rings, and Guacamole on top. Definitely my favourite one of the three I purchased. Warning that the box may look small but they are super generous with their portions and pack in the contents. We bought 3 poutunes (one each) and we could barely finish 3/4 of it. Suprised by how generous they were with the portion size.

Best damn experience I've had in Montreal. Where do I begin.....I didn't even mind standing outside in the frigid cold, in a long line of about 50 of my new intoxicated friends at 2am and in 20 degree winter weather. Well worth it. In Philadelphia, USA we stand in long lines for cheesesteaks, Montreal, 🍁 you go to La Banquise at 2, 3, 4 am and this place is still packed. Great food, great fun! So many choices of poutine!!! Love it!!!!!!!

What a wonderful place. We heard about this restaurant from a friend of mine when we asked for suggestions to have some great poutine in Montreal. She suggested this place. She was right. The place had such a unique vibe. The colours on the walls, the decors were so pretty. We were welcomed with smiling faces with lots of warmth. I loved the decor on the tables. We ordered breakfast poutines. The food arrived on time and it was delicious. I have had poutine before but never thought it could be so delicious. It was so different from the poutines we have had so far. It was almost like a new dish. We couldn't stop eating. It was so delicious. This place is a must go if you are in Montreal. You will not be disappointed.

Great service overall! Sit-down area was clean. This was my first poutine- I had the breakfast one. The cheese curds were flavorful and had the perfect texture. Everything was well cooked and seasoned perfectly. All in all, a very well thought out experience by a very well meaning resturant. Do yourself a favor and stop here.

Beautiful service and we got to sit on the terrace at the back! It was very cute and made the experience a lot more comfortable. I don't usually eat poutine and not much of it because it's usually a heavy dish and greasy. BUT! I took the large Scooby to share and it was excellent! The pickles really helped. And the Greek salad was delicious too. It's a generous portion for the price. My parents shared another one and they also enjoyed it. I have only heard good things about this place and I'm definitely not disappointed!

Great place to come for an adventurous authentic Poutine. The service was friendly and knowledgeable on the menu items and even has options for vegetarians/vegan too. Key Poutine Spot! 🍟 🔑 If you are looking to get some poutine, La Banquise is a popular spot, and for good reason! La Banquise is a go-to poutine spot, that was recommended to me by a long time Montrealer. They have probably over 20 different type of poutine options for you. Their gravy is vegetarian, so if you get the classic poutine, it is vegetarian. They have 2 or 3 other options that are vegetarian friendly as well, including a veggie sausage. The poutine overall is great, savoury gravy with thinly sliced curds. The restaurant has seating for a lot of people and is quiet cozy. They are open 24 hours too! The service was nice as well.

This place has the best staff very upbeat. The fries could of been a bit hotter. But they were quick. I think they dish up fries with cheese and gravy then add the topping...so think they sat a bit. But really the staff here having fun and seemed to really enjoy there jobs well done guys. Yes it's worth the Lin!!

Amazing amazing amazing vegetarian poutine ! All gravy are vegetarian and they even have a vegan option. I got the classic and it’s big enough to split between two people: open late night 24 hours. Always a line up for good reason!

There was a queue outside when we went around 5pm but it moved quite quickly, especially since we were bumped up for being 2 people. We ordered the La Panoramix (large) and could finish it. It was delicious! The gravy was not too heavy and the ingredients all went well together. Even though it was crowded, the staff still took time to check in on us. I'm usually wary of hyped-up tourist places but I feel like this one might live up to the hype.

Our favorite place for late night cravings and poutine in Montreal! Definitely a must visit for tourists and locals! So many options to choose from and my favorite is La Veggie Reggie. They have vegan options too. They don't take reservations and you may expect a line-up but the food and experience is worth it!

We came on Sunday afternoon and had no problem getting a table. The service was very friendly and quick. The poutine was GODLY. I don't know how they do it, but it tasted like heaven (we got L'Idefix and La Royale). I would 100% recommend and will definitely come back for more!

This is a cool place, great vibe and the staff were very fast and courteous. The poutine is the best I have ever had(in fairness it was my first true poutine) We had to wait about 20 minutes but when we finished there was a line outside in the rain about 40 people long and growing. If that doesn't convince you how good the food is, nothing will.

I believe my friends and I waited about an hour to get seated. Once seated the atmosphere was a little chaotic but nothing negative. I got the T rex and it was good. There was a disproportionately low amount of fries to toppings though. Maybe 30-40% increase would be great but other than that it was probably the best poutine I’ve had ever. The prices weren’t bad for a very hyped location. Around $15-20 per person before tax. All in all, a must visit if you’re in Montreal.

💯 many menu items to choose. Open late with both dine-in and pickup options. Had a good time. Little bit of a wait, but efficient service.

Stopped in for a quick bite. It got very busy after we were seated. Staff were great. Poutines were beyond amazing. I’ve had quite a few Poutines, but I must say La Banquise raised the bar for any I try from now on.

Came here in July and had to come back here for the most delicious poutine. There were a good variety. It was hard to decide. The portion was great for people who have big appetite. We struggled a bit both times. I will continue to visit this place each time I’m in Montreal. This has become a staple for my Montreal trip.

The gravy and cheese curds were delicious. Lots of options if you like crazy combos. I stuck with the classique. I personally like my fries a little more crispy. But, the whole vibe was cool and the service was great. Luckily we didn’t have to wait for a table. Was happy to be able to get a beer (didn’t expect that). I can see why this would be a popular late night spot.

Very touristy and busy place but this is where to go to enjoy a nice Poutine. Large choice of Poutines. More than 15. The take away service is great and you can eat it in the park right behind.

Good and delicious food. Poutines are really good and so are the burgers. We ordered a vegetarian option and it was too yummy. My wife liked the veg burger. The ambience is good. They have an ATM machine inside. Sometimes they have a long queue too, so plan accordingly.

A lovely place to enjoy some solid poutine options for lunch. Had the original poutine with pulled pork add-on, and the La Couvre Feu, regular size which was filling enough to split between the 4 of us. It took a little longer than expected for the food to arrive, but tasted great in the end when it did. I would come back to try some more of the many poutine flavours available!

For once the line wasn't too long so we tried it for the first time. Every table was occupied so I was surprised at how quickly the meals came out. The server was on his game and the host was never without a smile. I ordered the Chevre burger and It was one of the best burgers I've ever had in my life. The atmosphere is super casual and fun. Every inch of available floor space is taken by seating so be prepared to be in close quarters. We'll def be back.

Sadly their dining room was closed when we visited. The poutine was decent, would've loved to go back and try another veggie option too. Fun art on the building!

The vegan poutine tastes amazing and I would definitely recommend it, I just think it's a little sad that the cheese doesn't melt while there are definitely great vegan cheeses that do.

Food was good. Service was fast. Price is ok. We had to wait on the line for around 30 minutes which apparently it is faster for a Saturday night. The only downside is not about the restaurant but it is almost impossible to park nearby. We drove around for 10 minutes and ended up parking 10 minutes away inside the park. For a group with kids it is a little harsh. Anyway, overall the food experience was good.

Very good service, very tasty food and presentation, fair prices, eventually you need to wait in line for 45min on a Sunday afternoon to get a table for 4.

Great place for poutines. Perfect fries and gravy sauce. **Stay away from the chicken burger though, just a breaded frozen patty anyone can make at home.**

A lot of poutine options. We got 2 different kinds and they were both great. Pretty much anything tastes good. They are a little weird with their takeout. They don’t take takeout orders over the phone. I don’t know I’m from the states so maybe things are different north of the border? Big plus for being open 24 hours.

Best poutine I have tried in Montreal. Fries are well cooked with golden colour, not overly burnt like other poutine places. Gravy has the perfect flavor profile, not too salty at all. Long line, however, for take-outs. Restaurant itself is hot to sit in in the summers. Recommend!

First time trying poutine and I came to this place after what felt like a million recommendations. The place clearly has history and the whole experience felt really authentic. Our waiter was great though the host was passive aggressive at times. Then the poutine: I didn't like it at all. This is obviously personal preference but poutine is not for me it seems. One and done for me.

  • 4/5 Natasha S. 10 months ago on Google
The poutine with ground beef and onions was delicious. A hearty amount of fried onion was added to the top, lots of cheese curds throughout and a generous portion of ground beef. Tried the Mac and cheese bites, these were alright but wouldn't order again. Finally, the spicy sausage was a good side. It's split in half and filled with ingredients so you get an equal amount of flavor in every Bite. Will return to try more poutine!

You can't go wrong with a poutine from la banquise. It's the classic place if you wanna try a good, juicy poutine full of flavour. They have over 20 different kinds of poutine with different toppings. So you wil for sure find your favourite topping! Its open 24H. Their regular size is huge, however they are pricey compared to other poutine’s places. The place is always packed at night. But their poutine is worth the wait. Last pic is their take out box for small poutine.

Unequivocally the best poutine that I have had in Montréal and certainly the best I've ever had. Freshly fried, perfectly cooked fries that are a beautiful compliment to the gravy and cheese curds, which all work in unison to each other to melt the curds and make the whole thing a pile of gastronomic goodness. My preference is La Panoramix, which adds smoked meat, mushrooms and sour cream. Service is good, prices are very good, and it is definitely a place worth visiting in Montréal.

Here you can eat poutine every hour on the hour for 24 hours. But don't do that, you could die. Vegetarian and vegan friendly. Indoor and outdoor seating. Always a line at night. Anthony Bourdain ate here. (RIP)

You have to get poutine when you're in Montreal, and you might as well get it at one of the most popular poutineries around, and it's the most popular one for a good reason. The food was all fresh and delicious, and I'm glad the service was warm and patient as they helped a lot in navigating the giant menu. Highly recommend a visit here!

Food portions are very fair, service was incredible and the atmosphere was great. Only issue was that our food came first compared to the table beside us, even though they ordered way before us, but our food was cold while there food was steaming hot. The fries was strangely sweet and I was hoping the gravy was deeper in flavour. Maybe next time I won’t order the classic and that the other options would be more fresh.

Great poutine, tons of different options, and huge portions to boot! Enjoyed the royale more than the scooby, since the latter tasted like a burger and was too heavy for my liking. Would come again for dine-in since the fries got soggy pretty quickly in the takeout container, despite only being a block away.

Loved this place. Lives up to its reputation and more. One of the best poutines I've had. The gravy and toppings were amazing. The servers were helpful and polite. The music selection playing in the background was good and not too loud. Definitely worth the visit.
