Given
lack
of
access
in
the
public
system,
I
bit
the
bullet
and
booked
a
colonoscopy
at
endovision
because
I
had
symptoms
and
wanted
answers.
The
availability
of
appointments
and
booking
process
could
not
have
been
better.
Also
the
responsiveness
of
their
admin
team
in
answering
emails
is
impressive.
One
disappointment
was
the
generic
preparation
instructions
said
to
take
the
magnesium
citrate
at
5
on
the
morning
of
the
procedure.
I
was
really
worried
about
the
car
ride
because
my
appointment
time
was
8:15.
I
made
an
executive
decision
and
took
it
at
1:30
which
turned
out
to
be
perfect
as
I
was
safely
able
to
leave
the
bathroom
around
5:30.
Although
someone
from
the
clinic
called
to
check
in
with
me
the
day
before,
they
called
after
I
had
started
my
prep
so
I
was
indisposed
and
missed
the
call.
Ironically
on
the
message
she
mentioned
hoping
I
had
started
my
prep!
Guys,
a
day
earlier
would
have
been
appreciated
and
I
would
have
asked
about
the
timing
of
the
magnesium
citrate.
On
the
day
of
the
procedure
I
had
Dr
Reimer.
He
was
kind,
relaxed
and
put
me
at
ease.
I
asked
about
trying
to
get
through
it
without
sedation
but
leaving
the
option
open
if
I
felt
I
needed
it
part
way
through.
He
adjusted
his
approach
at
different
times
to
keep
me
comfortable.
In
the
end
I
was
able
to
complete
without
sedation.
It
really
was
very
manageable,
any
pain
was
very
crampy
but
never
sharp
or
acute
and
relatively
short
lived.
There
were
many
times
when
I
really
had
zero
discomfort.
He
was
able
to
do
a
thorough
exam
and
I
got
to
watch
as
he
explained
everything.
One
word
of
warning
is
this
is
a
private
clinic
so
there
is
the
potential
for
hidden
costs
that
we
take
for
granted
in
the
public
system.
One
example,
Dr
Reimer
did
remove
a
very
large
polyp
and
there
was
an
additional
$175
charge
on
the
bill.
I
was
told
by
the
receptionist
it
was
because
it
was
“large”.
This
being
said,
I
work
in
health
care
and
understand
the
real
reason
for
the
additional
cost
is
likely
secondary
to
the
fact
that
he
had
to
use
a
special
tool
to
remove
it
that
minimized
risk
of
bleeding
(given
its
size)
and
that
tool
understandably
must
cost
more.
I
don’t
begrudge
having
to
pay
more
because
I
understand
the
health
care
system
but
to
those
less
well
informed,
being
told
it
was
related
to
size
might
cause
some
questions!
All
in
all,
I
was
grateful
for
the
opportunity
to
get
the
colonoscopy
done
quickly
and
conveniently
and
to
get
the
answers
and
reassurance
I
was
hoping
for.
It
was
easier
and
less
embarrassing
than
I
feared
and
I
would
do
it
again
without
sedation.
I
do
highly
recommend
endovision
for
those
who
are
lucky
enough
to
be
able
to
afford
it.
Thanks
to
Dr
Reimer
for
his
bedside
manner
which
made
the
whole
thing
easier.
