This place is a total DUMP, the gym itself has great amenities but there is no management. It is so dirty and unkempt, lots of machines always out of service and there is never any paper towels so no one cleans the machines when they finish. The men's locker room is disgusting, also never has any paper. I have found even used socks and underwear abandoned in lockers. I have attached photos, all the treadmills you see empty are all out of service. And photos of every single paper towel dispenser empty, also photos of the bathroom condition. The I joined the gym for the pool and treadmills but the pool is so dirty that I stopped using It because it was irritating my skin and treadmills were always out of service. Canceled my membership.

Besides the weights never being re-racked and the garbage never being changed then half of the time there is no paper towel in the bathroom . THE SAUNAS NEVERRRR WORK AND WE SHARE THE POOL WITH KIDS .OR ITS SHUT DOWN “TEMPORARILY “ I originally signed up for the gym for the amenities I could have went to planet fitness if I just wanted to work out . I came for the sauna/pool/hot tub and for some reason they charge me the same amount monthly but non of the amenities work ? I’m curious who takes care of this gym and why no one cares ? If this continues I’m def canceling my membership ! The sauna is literally open for a day or two and closed for weeks ? Broken lockers ?? LIGHTS OUT In the bathroom it’s crazy smh def need cooperate in here to straighten this spot out and make it worth the monthly money

Worst LA Fitness ever. Every time I come here it is dirty, garbage cans are over filled, no paper towels in bathroom. When I complained, I was told that the cleaning person will take care of it as soon as he comes in. After 1,5 hours nothing was done. Turned out they did not have a male cleaning person for night shift, the club manager was just making fun of me. Managers are sitting and watching YouTube, they do not care. No weights in place, weights are scattered all over the floor, creating tripping hazard!

Good gym. Ww were missing pins for the weights for a bit, and all were replaced. No problem using any machine. Most people clean before and after use. Locker rooms are kept clean. Sauna tens to be empty and hot. There is no steam room at this location. Tend to see lots of seniors on weekdays after 8 am. The gym is welcoming of all even people using walkers. Staff are friendly. My favorite is a slim fellow with blonde dread that he usually wear in a ponytail. Good location with underground extra parking.

This gym has gone to the dogs! I've been a member for a long time and so much has change. The manager acts like he's done time in a state prison, at times he forgets he's running a business(very aggressive attitude and demeanor). Once, himself and the staff started cleaning the floors in the middle of the day by pouring water from a bucket and mopping with no regard to the patrons exercising. When asked why are you doing this now, rather than when closing/opening and what if someone slips and fall? The managers answer was, La fitness is covered, no one can sue us. The fact of an unsafe environment is being created flew right over his head. The sauna is always broken, bathrooms are filthy, weights go missing, machines stay broken or missing parts, limited cleaning supplies and the list goes on.. The cleaning staff is cool but the work load is too much for one woman (she also has to re-rack weights). However, many of the members this gym attract have limited to no gym educate as well. For about $500 a year its not worth it, especially if you're serious about your health and wellness. People are canceling their memberships daily and new members walk in daily so maybe that's why mgmt feel there's no need for improvement, no matter the complaints or emails sent. If you love cardio, you’ll love this gym. If you love a pair of matching dumbbells, you’ll have a better chance at finding a pair rocks outside. Don’t ask management either. They’ll look at you like they are trying to solve the biggest math problem.

Don’t forget to wear you protective vest because it’s obviously a prison yard and these guys just got out of the box. The members appeared to be of a certain subgroup. Third world country might be the new norm, garbage everywhere, rude nasty members, kids unattended and the swim school is disgusting. I found a blade in the heavy weight section, I’m not joking. The poor cleaning crew can’t keep up with all the trash and the staff doesn’t care. The trainers are just as unprofessional as the members, and only care about money and how many clients they have. Even PF set rules, this gym allow phones, video, pictures, boots, jeans, loud speakers, throwing weights, people spit and I see chewed gum on the floor regularly. You are basically at a neighborhood park. They don’t hold the members accountable and it’s just getting worse. Such a great big space with tons of equipment, only to be treated like garbage. The members are gross and the staff allows it, I’m not sure if they are scared or don’t know what proper management looks like. They should definitely invest in some bouncers or private security.

They lie to you, take your money close and lock the basketball court when they want without explanation. Everything needs to be renovated in the bathrooms, locker room and court. The lights in the gym have been on back order for 3 years 🙃🙃

Pros Friendly patrons who provide a sense of community. The classes are amazing and the instructors are wonderful.(These instructors also travel to other LAF locations.) You can get a great workout w/ the equipment provided.(If you can find it.) Cons Very poor customer service. The people at the front desk are not welcoming at all. You can't tell who works there because the staff has no uniformed appearance. Staff also carries on unprofessional conversations at the desk. The gym floor is very dirty, poorly managed and unorganized. For some reason, the gym floor has carpeting, which smells. Have spotted roaches in shower area.

The hot tub is being repaved and has been apparently been closed for a very long time. I took a long hiatus from the gym, and had frozen my account, which they charged me $10 a month for account maintenance. I missed the classes and the people. They only offer Aqua Fit once a week on Thursday evenings, and now that the hot tub is broken, I don't see many of the older people at the gym anymore. The locker room, bathrooms and showers have been significantly cleaner and there is always toilet paper, soap, and paper towels now, which is nice. The classes are great. I try to do as many as I can. I had a bad experience in the past with personal training because I had sessions scheduled and they fired my master trainer without replacing them, and I had to drive to the five towns or Long Island locations. They refused to change or cancel my personal training contract even though they breached it. I still like the amenities but I wish that I could go to the gym and for everything to be working and available to use. They can do better. They have the swim classes for kids on the weekends and the kids parents stare at us like we shouldn't use the pool when the kids are there and if we're changing in the locker room, they act like we shouldn't be. That has been very annoying and they shouldn't be using the locker room. The swim school has tents for their kids to change in. They can use the bathrooms and if they're going to use the locker rooms, they should expect to see naked women.

The worst and nastiest gym I’ve ever been to. Machines are constantly broken, there’s roaches/water bugs in the bathroom locker rooms, the employees here have a “I don’t care” attitude, etc. the dumbbells are always all over the place, and they’re everybody play music loud from their portable speakers. The sauna is broken and i was told it’s getting fixed in 1 MONTH. I’ve cancelled my membership and I’m happy to go elsewhere !!

Last few months I start coming to Howard beach Ny location.many machines not working here. Whenever I ask front desk even manager about this,they said next week but next week never come. I request higher authority to visit here sometime and check and fix please.

Ever since the new year had came in a lot of new people came to this gym, which is not a problem I love seeing people get in shape. But now there’s literally weights every where on the floor there’s no weights on the rack some of the weights are Lowkey going missing and most of the cardio machines are breaking. Some of the workout machines are breaking now too. Other than that everything seems to be fine but we need more weight and better machines that don’t break easily. Amazing staff tho!

I wouldn’t recommend anyone to join this gym because you need to give your ID in order to obtain a rope, bar, or any handle necessary to use their machines. I believe the gym had a problem with people stealing equipment but, I shouldn’t have to pay for others wrong doings. I am paying for a membership . A few members have bought their own handles to attach to the machines to avoid going to the desk. I shouldn’t have to go out of my way to purchase equipment for the gym when I’m paying a membership. Also, The dumbbells are all over the place and never to be found . I spend so much time looking for dumbbells or going to the desk to get equipment it’s ridiculous. Most of us are trying to get a quick workout and go about our day. ALSO, there is only ONE set of dumbbells for each weight ….. one pair of 5 lbs …. One pair of 10lbs … imagine waiting to use them ….

The place is discussed with a dirty floor toilet and hallway I will not dare to use the shower or bathroom, the shower is filled with mold on the calling. And the place is very busy but they are cheap on hiring a staff to maintain the place.

This is one of the most expensive gyms in the area but is the worst. The machines could use some cleaning, there’s never paper towels at the dispenser and you’d have to walk far to another machine to get one. The machines are always broken. You can never find a handle or ropes for the machines. Ceiling has leak stains. I’m subscribed to other gyms in the area with cheaper fees and they are cleaner and better equipped. Honestly the only reason I go to LA is because of the parking.

I love the location and everything in here But the only problem is that place closed at 10:00 PM and for people that work, Is a little hard to stay for long time in this location. I Probably will have to go another GYM with better hours like 12:00 AM. This is why my rate is 3 stars because the hours Out of that is a perfect location. And a nice place to do your exercises.

I take my daughter there for swim lessons that are run by an independent company. The facilities showers aren’t the cleanest. People leave old body wash containers behind and several shower handles were literally broken off. Access to the pool is also odd. You must take the elevator up to the second floor and then walk down two flights of stairs. So while the pool itself has a chair for disabled access, getting to the pool would be impossible for a disabled person. The water is warm and pool area is clean. I doubt that I would ever purchase a membership, as there are better facilities in the area.

Very large gym. Spacious. With people who don't believe in giving each other space to workout, this large facility is Spacious. Walked right in to sign up for membership. The membership was simple and understandable. I was helped and signed up by a very attractive girl who works there. Small size, great smile. And very friendly. Kudos to the pretty girl.

This gym is very much not worth my membership, half of the machines are breaking down and rattling or due for service. There are no weights available under 30 pounds why dont we have variety. It definitely needs a whole remodel. The showers are broken also the water is cold. Corporate needs to come in there is fix the whole place. Its not fair to paying customers.

I recently joined this gym because it has the advantage of a kids club, but the reality is that the machines are very old, most have broken cables, there are not enough dumbbells, they must purchase new machinery and machines for glutes and hip trust. Normally the cardio machines are dirty as if they were not cleaned, the bathrooms are clean and the sauna works perfectly. I would just like them to acquire new machines and maintain hygiene.

A number of positive changes made to this location through these past months. Lighting has been improved and the exercise area is undergoing an upgrade. It is the member's duty to now clean up after themselves to maintain these changes. Bathrooms cleanliness has improved also. The air conditioner is fixed in the aerobics/Zumba room so the airflow is great during the group fitness classes.

The equipment is mediocre. The Gisselle was great and kind to set me up with a personal trainer. She pushed me to work out! The jokes make it friendly and welcoming place.

I wish there is 0 star for review. I joined few days ago and I just canceled my membership. Their equipment is really old and not enough equipment for everyone. I had to wait 20 minutes to use something. Also too crowded. It’s not worth of paying so much money. Waste of money.

First time here and wanted a tour of the place and rates. They where all very attentive and on point and took very well care of me and my needs and took me right to Andre ! Andre is amazing he listened to my personal needs and what i was looking for in the gym.. they have such great options here and i am so happy he took me through each step and about the services they provide honestly i was shocked at all the great things that come with the membership like child care and swimming pool also a hot a tub and im going to sign up and the only thing holding me from signing up today was a financial situation at the moment, but i know for sure this is the gym i will be attending in the near future and anyone looking to sign up please go to ANDRE he's honestly amazing at his job. Cant wait to start and i got what i needed today the information gained was all i needed to hear and see. Most of sanitizer dispensers are empty. This is the first LA fitness Ive gone to where all cable machines were missing attachments. Otherwise this is a decent gym. The pool area and sauna are nice.

I rarely leave reviews about a gym because what I may not like might be good to others. I’m not a stranger to the gym, I know more less what to do and how to reach my goals. I signed up in March and they set me up with a free session, which I regret going to. This guy made me feel like if I didn’t have a trainer I was wasting my time and I wasn’t going to get where I wanted, mind you I’ve reached my goals before on my own, without a trainers help. I felt like he was way too aggressive in his approach and it just gave me a bad taste for that place. I never went back and I ended up Quitting them around July. For an expensive gym it didn’t feel very welcoming.

I went to cancel my membership today and spoke with the Operational Manager. Instead of canceling he convinced me to stay and I even got me interested in taking some of the classes. The manager was very friendly and informative. I’m excited to take the classes and enjoy my gym membership. I look forward to the positive vibes that I get from the staff at this gym!

So bizarre… I called to ask to schedule a tour and inquire about a fitness class… guy on the phone just left me hanging on the phone. I could hear him shuffling around. I hung up and called again. He answered and I said “hey, I think I was just on the phone with you” and he literally just hung up on me without saying a word. What is going on???

I feel comfortable working out at this gym. The staff and trainers are always friendly and polite. The gym is clean and well kept. I'm very happy and will continue working out at this gym.

Very nice building. Love my doctor that has an office in it, but they do not have working elevators. All three elevators are out of service! For weeks now. People with disabilities come here for their medical care, but clearly that is not important. I had to walk up stairs to see my doctor.... on crutches. Hope this is fixed soon.

If you want to become a member of them. Go to Reddit and search for "LA Fitness Scam" before you get into their club. This is not a small probability case that will only happen in certain areas. It's in their blood to rip off their customers.

I just register there and they said I was going to have a 45 mn session with a coach. They will weight me and tell me the type of exercises I may need. Guess what when I start going there and I ask about my 45 mn session. They change their mind and they rather want me to pay extra money for that and the guy I talk to was very rude. The environment is nice but those running the area are not serious. In case they promised you something? Make sure you have them put it on paper and let them sign it.

Cleaner that most LA Fitness locations so they get one star for that. Front desk staff is friendlier than most locations so that's one more star. The gym isn't as crowded as most LA Fitness gyms at rush hour so that's another setar. Everything else is lackluster. Be forewarned...at this location you'll have to bring your own attachments for the cable pulley machines. Also your own caribiners for the attachments. It's probably because LA Fitness failed to replace broken ones so members have to do their due diligence and bring their own. Also the pool is so cloudy I thought it was a milk bath. Anyway the space is big enough to get a decent workout. Typical LA Fitness location though...weights never put away, rarely cleaned space, poorly maintained equipment, weirdo smoothie bar attendant. The usual LA Fitness vibe.

Don’t waste your money joining this gym!! It’s dirty and the treadmills are always down. No equipment available, you have to bring your own equipment and pins for the weights if you want to workout. People steal everything from this gym!!! The place is a big dump people use the machines and don’t wipe them off when they’re done, leaving the machine sweaty and nasty. This gym is dirty dirty dirty!!! Can’t wait until my membership is over, this was a huge mistake. If you want COVID this the place to get it!

Best gym around Brooklyn and queens. Kind of expensive but you have everything on it. Pool is too small but not that many people use it… I love this place very much..

Very ride employee, I wanted to cancel my membership which I never used for few months. She won’t cancel without pay a fee. I pad almost $100 to get the membership and that included 1st and last month and yearly fee. Now I don’t understand why I have to pay a fee to cancel! Guys go to other gym, don’t waste money in this gym. Moreover, many machine inside not working a not fixing for long.

I enjoy coming to this gym, particularly this location. I was skeptical at first because of the ratings I saw but I decided to give it a try and as someone who has tried out almost every gym chain in this city, I'm glad I finally found one I settled into and continuously come to. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful especially Derrick. They have an array of different classes and events available (The sauna is a plus). I signed up with a great personal trainer (Ish) who has been helping me to attain and maintain my fitness goals. I've been going since May and I can definitely see an improvement in my body and strength✨

This is a gym I ha e been in for last 2 years but months after months the service is becoming so bad and the stuffs are not helping the clients, today was a day that three people lose their money from their locker and the gym refused to take action calling the cops. I feel like I should quite this gym because I don’t feel safe putting anything in the locker as well as working out in this gym

Justine from Sales is very knowledgeable and when I’m doubt, she searched for a definitive answer. I was a LA Fitness member back in 2016. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I left. Years later, Justine reached out and made it happen for me and my family. I can’t wait to return back to my home away from home! Thank you Justine 😁.

Fix the jacuzzi! I just signed up and it's lacking didn't even sign a contract or get to use my guest pass. Not a signature club experience. BLINK is better.

When I joined this gym I thought it was good gym because of good service they provide but as days after days it’s going crazy with their bad service, the machines are mostly broken, the stuffs are not nice and they don’t wanna help if anything is lost. Last day I lost 200 dollars from the locker and I used a lock but somebody broke the lock and took my money but the stuffs did not call the cops. I feel like quitting this gym soon.

I am having a great experience at LA Fitness. Nigel is an awesome trainer. He is very detailed and dedicated to your fitness journey. I also love the kids club. My son loves coming to the gym to play at the kids club. The kids club is best feature because it allows parents to have workout and know that their kids are in a safe environment. Glad I joined LA Fitness .

I am truly grateful that I joined this gym. It's a very Calm , clean and comfortable place . I will forever be grateful to Andre, Enore, Nigel(trainer) and Lexy, for making my first gym experience the best. I love how the pool ,sauna and Jacuzzi are always clean and available for use .Staff members greet you at the door and are always available to assist as needed. I also love the perks of being able to join different classes with my membership. This was the best decision I ever made.

I love this gym. The staff is helpful and professional and the facilities are clean. I was able to use the weights, pool, and sauna and they are very well kept. The manager, Andre, gave me great customer service and helped me understand how the gym could fit my unique fitness needs. Highly recommended!

I originally came into the gym for the swim school which is located in the basement level. The gym was large spacious and well kept. I spoke with Malcolm about pricing and memberships and he was very professional and very informative. The gym is spacious. Machines and weightlifting area was non crowded even after work hours. Membership price such a great value.

Definitely a lot of machines to use but also usually at least moderately packed. Staff can be a bit friendlier but understandably just doing the job

I’ve been on and off in the gym for a few years now but never really knew what to do or how hard to push myself. I’m getting married this year so I finally started to take the gym more seriously and look for a personal trainer. I was paired with Chris and knew I’d be in good hands from day 1. We meet 3 times a week and each month he provides me with a list of new workouts. He’s always willing to change up the routine to help me reach my goals. Our sessions are only 30 minutes but he makes sure we make them all worthwhile by filling them with all different types of exercises. It’s only been a little over 2 months at this point but I’m happy with my progress so far and am excited for what’s to come. I’ve lost inches, dropped in body fat and have more energy throughout the day.

Lexy is a phenomenal front desk associate. She always has a smile on, is informative, attentive and always willing to help. She definitely makes check in process swift and fun and I always get a warm welcome when I come to the gym. Overall great associate !

This gym is phenomenal. It’s better than my old gym planet fitness. The members are so polite, funny and helpful. The managers Jonathan and Andre were very helpful and attentive. I also love the fact that they have a kids club where I can leave my 3 little angels to go play and I can workout comfortably. The pool is very fun and convenient to use since it’s the only pool for miles. The environment is very encouraging a lot of nice people to help me workout as well as teaching me new workouts/techniques. I am glad to cal this place my new home.

Despite the recent bad reviews, place is decent if you come around noon - 4 p.m (less crowded) a lot of treadmills need repair, and a few machines as well. But for basic gym needs and pretty good equipment I'd say come in, get a tour and make up your mind. I've been going here for a year and have seen it for better or worse and it's pretty good if you are looking to start a gym/fitness journey. The group fitness classes are very well done so definitely give it a shot!

I joined this gym about a year ago. I was so excited about the amenities that I got an annual membership. I decided not to renew my membership. Here are all the pros: free parking, lots of machines and heavy weights, protein bar, pool, suana, classes and its clean. When I joined the salesperson informed me that the suana would be available for use in approximately a month which was a lie. When I canceled my membership the suana still wasn't in use a year later. The machines would be broken for long period of time and the staff didn't seem to care when it was addressed. There's very little gym etiquette. People don't return the weights, leave tissue on the floor and use their personal speakers to play music. The most polite person is the front desk workers. The protein shake don't taste good and at times the workers are no where to be found. There was too much going on here to get a good workout.

The machine are designed for intermediate to professional working out. There is also a swimming pool and sauna.

The worst LA Fitness. The employees are so useless , really bad . There is not enough equipment in this gym to be able to work out correctly. Almost impossible to work out. There are more than 20 machines that don't have pins. To be able to use a strap for the machine you have to go IN THE FRONT JUST TO GET A STRAP. I don't recommend this gym at all.

Don’t waste your time and money! If I could rate this a 0 I would. The machines are always broken. The people that work there are always trying to sell you classes and when you don’t buy they treat you as if you’re not a paying customer with a membership. The gym is very small, dirty and unkept. You would think they would allow you to use the machine in that area given that the other machines are broken. The workers are very rude and unprofessional. But if you buy training sesssions they will treat you like a paying customer :) The bathrooms are also very dirty and unkept with roaches everywhere. I was very surprised as this is the first LA fitness like this.
