My
wife
and
I
have
a
home
in
Nice
where
we
come
approx
4
times
a
year.
As
such
we
are
always
on
the
lookout
for
good
eateries
and
were
excited
to
find
the
Italian
Pub
-
just
round
the
corner
from
our
apartment
-
when
searching
online.
Given
its
ideal
proximity
and
the
reviews
on
the
internet
which
sounded
very
good,
we
thought
we
would
give
it
a
go.
Last
Saturday
night
we
turned
up
at
19:30
and,
apart
from
another
table
of
two,
we
were
the
first
evening
guests.
The
restaurant
felt
cosy;
and
the
owner
happily
welcomed
and
seated
us,
promptly
bringing
us
an
amuse-bouche.
We
ordered
just
as
a
large
group
of
approx
10
arrived:
chicken
a
la
milanaise
(breaded
chicken
breast)
with
chips
and
salad
for
me,
spinach
and
ricotta
ravioli
in
tomato
sauce
for
my
wife.
The
dishes
came
to
the
table
very
promptly.
Whilst
my
breaded
chicken
dish
was
a
fair
portion
and
tasty,
my
wife’s
dish
left
a
great
deal
to
be
desired.
The
portion
size
was
very
small
and
the
ravioli
were
lacking
in
flavour.
She
was
so
hungry
that
not
only
did
she
have
to
help
herself
to
my
chips
and
the
bread
basket,
which
she
would
not
normally
touch,
but
she
also
had
to
make
herself
something
to
eat
when
we
got
home.
Nobody
should
ever
leave
a
restaurant
feeling
that
they
have
not
eaten
enough.
Having
finished
our
meal
-
during
which
the
owner
did
not
come
to
the
table
to
see
if
all
was
well
-
we
asked
for
the
bill,
declining
dessert
and
coffee
which
we
never
typically
order
anyway.
For
some
reason
the
owner
got
the
hump
with
us
and
instead
of
bringing
us
the
bill,
he
proceeded
to
float
around,
chatting
with
other
guests,
fiddling
with
cutlery
on
clean,
unoccupied
tables,
and
generally
avoiding
eye
contact
with
us.
We
spent
longer
sat
waiting
for
the
bill
than
it
had
taken
us
to
actually
eat
the
dinner.
I
had
to
chase
him
for
the
bill
which
he
eventually
brought
over
without
a
word
of
thanks
etc.
and
without
engaging
with
us
at
all.
We
paid
and
left
without
more
ado.
We
have
no
idea
why
the
owner
was
so
unfriendly,
but
whatever
his
reason,
such
behaviour
is
inexcusable.
We
had
been
really
excited
about
eating
there
and
were
sadly
disappointed.
Needless
to
say,
we
shall
not
be
returning.
