My husband and I tried this place today after receiving a recommendation for it from one of my husband’s classmates. If you like fried chicken and some good sweet tea, you HAVE to come to this place! It’s a no frills kind of place, which is right up my husband and I’s alley. We are during lunch time and it was quite busy, so definitely give yourself plenty of time. It’s worth it!

You can't get more Columbia, SC than Bernie's! The chicken is delicious, the sides are great, and the desert is on point. Their lunch special is the best value for your money and you leave full.

My mom really likes you guys, me I think it could be better. The chicken pieces were so small. The hot dog I got was very bad. Hotdog itself tastes like nothing and tough. I forgot to take pictures but I will next time. Yes, I will be back because my mom likes your chicken.

Absolutely, outstanding fried chicken and friendly service. I ordered the three piece special and then had to order three pieces more. I will be going here every time I can when visiting Columbia, SC. If you can only eat one place while in Columbia this is it!!!

Quick, friendly service. The chicken was good but the bakes beans and coleslaw were great! The coleslaw is the creamy and sweet. The beans were perfect, not thick but not runny. Sweet flavor without being too heavy. The sprite was mixed perfectly. Every employee I encountered was so friendly.

First time trying this place everyone has said it’s better than zestos my personal opinion it wasn’t. I did not like that the chicken wasn’t clean properly I ordered a three priest breast and all of them had feathers still attachedFried in my opinion wasn’t seasoned everything else was fine I did not like they’re coleslaw too sweet I personally like a savory one but my complaint is generally the chicken not being clean properly on the positive side it is really cheap to eat here!

Overhyped and mediocre. The chicken comes in bite sized portions, and the fries come unsalted. The chicken is good, but not good enough for me to chose it over other competitors again. The wait was approximately 30 minutes for 3 pieces of chicken which was also cold when I got it. I watched people come in after me and good their food before me. The staff is rude, an older AA woman screamed in my face when I told her I didn’t order a drink and insisted I take it. Won’t be back. I don’t recommend it unless you want to stand in a crowded are for 30 minutes to get cold food.

First time trying Bernie’s today, and I gotta tell you that chicken is finger licking good. Seasoned just right, crispy, and juicy. I want be going to another chicken place on my next visit to Columbia.

Best fried chicken and sweet tea I have ever had. I had never been before and the ladies were so patient with me and helped me so much with my order. And OMG. The banana pudding is to die for. Has to be the best banana pudding in South Carolina, maybe the world. I have nothing but good things to say about Bernie’s. I want to come back every day for the rest of my life.

I ordered the double cheese burger and it was excellent. I usually get chicken but today I wanted to try the burger because I’ve heard it was a must try. It was juicy, the Patties were seasoned and the bun to meat ratio was perfect. I highly recommend this place but if it’s busy be prepared to wait.

We stopped for dinner....3pc white meat chicken dinner special, with fries, slaw, roll and sweet tea. ($9.50) Super crazy delicious. The chicken was moist with crispy skin, cole slaw was really yummy and the sweet tea was the best!

GROSS - Chic Filet sandwich inedible. The middle was hard and inedible. Biscuits stale. Chicken salad too salty and tasteless. Fried chicken not good, too greasy, bland. I don’t know why this place is so busy because this food is not good and these people look miserable. Yuck.

I moved to SC 10 years ago and have heard about this chicken ever since. I finally had a chance to try it and I have to be honest, it is not very good food. Service was great and atmosphere was great but the chicken is super over priced for flavor that local grocery stores nail at this point. I can get a whole 8 piece for the price of a 3 piece at Bernies. Prime location, sub prime food. Over hyped.

I went out of my way to stop by this place because of the reviews, the staff was helpful with my selection but honestly I wasn't impressed, the chicken was the only redeeming quality but the $6 chicken thigh was tiny, the size of the Cole slaw container, I finished the chicken in literal 3 bites and ended up with a store bought bun, frozen cafeteria food style fries, and sweet coleslaw that was good for a few bites but got too sweet because I didn't have anything to eat it with.

Bernie's was a good experience. The fried chicken was delicious and the ladies serving were pleasant. The only complaint I had was it took over 30 minutes to get my order.

We stopped here on the way down to Charleston for the weekend based on a friend's recommendation and I wasn't disappointed. The fried chicken was better than the chicken sandwiches that my other people ordered, but it was all tasty. The ordering process was a little hard to figure out for someone who had never eaten there. You place your order and take a ticket but then don't pay until the food is ready and you pick it up. Since there were people standing around waiting for to go orders it was hard to tell what to do, and no one who worked there volunteered that info. Even though our orders were placed immediately after each other, the second chicken sandwich was on a different ticket and took about 10 minutes longer to make than our other food. That was kind of a pain, but not a big deal. The prices were great, and the customer base included business folks in suits, sherrifs, US Army officers, and all sorts of othets, which tells me this place is consistent and a favorite with locals.

Bernie's chicken is by far the best that I have ever eaten from a restaurant. Cost is still not too bad, however prices are going up. Only thing I have a problem with is the fact that he charges you for using your debit or credit card. On a $8 bill I got charged $0.51 cents for using my credit credit card, very excessive especially since the bank only charges 1 to 3% of the tab back to the business.

We had the chicken and fries and it was the best by far that I've had in a long time! Far exceeds KFC! I would highly recommend it! When I say this is some of the best freaking chicken, drive a hour and a half, line out the door and you still wait for the chicken cause it's "THAT" good!

My first time here. Heard a lot of hype about the fried chicken here but I was not impressed. It was served hot but just ok to me. The fries i got were probably the best thing i had but very brown not golden like the pics that drew me to the place! The sweat tea was interesting in taste the day I went. The dining was not a clean as I would like and flies were just kinda everywhere. We tried to eat fast lol. I only finished my fries and roll. Apparently this place has a reputation for great food...it just wasn't for me! Enjoy!

Very good fried chicken. Inside of restaurant could of been cleaner. Tables we sat at, I had to wipe down myself. Otherwise, all I can say is the chicken ia good. My 15 yr old said it was the best fried chicken he ever had. He doesn't say that ever about any place we ate fried chicken at.

Best friend chicken I've ever eaten ANYWHERE! Very busy 11:30-2:00. When placing a takeaway order, add another 10 minutes to the pickup time. * HOMEMADE DESSERTS * Delicious hot dogs & burgers too.

Busy little spot over by William Brryce Stadium . The chicken was fried just right . The fries & Coldslaw , done how we like it down south . Ice Tea was on point . Friendly staff . What more can you ask for ?

This is the best fried chicken place in COLA. It is so juicy, and the skin is perfectly crispy. Their $8 dollar lunch special is a steal. You get 3 pieces of chicken, fries, coleslaw, and a large sweet tea.

This restaurant has one of the best fried chicken I've ever tasted! The service was prompt and has a good customer service which is one of my pet peeves. With lots of customers arriving, it shows that it's one of the best!

Get here. Eat here. It is the place for southern fried chicken and the BEST banana pudding on the planet. Everything about this place is awesome, especially the ladies running the counter.

They are almost as fast as Chic-Fil-A when it comes to ordering and getting your food. Seriously awesome chicken.
