I
have
Fabry's
disease,
for
which
I
have
to
get
bi-weekly
infusions
of
a
missing
enzyme;
and
which
causes
intense
neuralgia
throughout
all
of
my
extremities
and
leaves
me
debilitated
and
in
bed
most
days.
I'm
not
looking
for
a
high,
or
my
next
fix,
the
only
thing
that
I
feel
from
the
meds
that
I
take,
is
no
pain.
A
status
that
has
taken
the
better
part
of
a
year
to
get
to.
All
I
want
is
to
be
able
to
work,
and
function
as
a
normal
person.
Again,
I'm
not
looking
for
a
fix.
I've
never
taken
any
medication
in
any
other
manner
than
as
it
was
prescribed;
and
I've
never
used
any
recreational
substances.
I
don't
even
drink.
I
just
don't
want
to
be
in
pain.
I
recently
went
to
see
Dr.
Balter
in
the
hopes
of
finding
a
provider
closer
to
my
home
in
Papillion.
I
have
been
seeing
a
different
provider
at
Omaha
Pain
Physicians,
and
the
Dr.
and
her
nurse
are
both
extremely
competent
and
a
fantastic
team,
but
I
had
a
bad
experience
with
the
front
office
that
made
me
decide
investigate
other
possibilities
at
that
point.
I
was
a
bit
apprehensive
about
coming
here
after
reading
all
of
the
reviews.
But
I
made
the
trip
and
arrived
at
my
appointment.
I
had
completed
all
the
required
paperwork
before-hand
so
I
didn't
have
any
requirements
when
I
got
there.
I
waited
for
almost
an
hour
and
a
half.
Having
gotten
there
at
8
in
the
morning,
I
wasn't
called
to
the
back
until
almost
9:30.
I
was
led
back
to
a
room
which
was
overall
clean
but
had
carpet
floors
(in
a
medical
exam
room)
and
blank
forms
all
over
the
exam
table.
The
nurse
came
in
and
immediately
started
asking
questions,
she
didn't
make
any
eye
contact,
and
for
the
most
part
typed
in
to
the
laptop
without
looking
up.
After
a
few
minutes
she
gave
me
a
UA
cup
and
said
she'd
send
the
Dr.
in.
Dr.
Balter
seemed
pleasant,
and
started
asking
questions
about
who
I'd
been
seeing
and
what
our
past
treatments
were.
After
explaining
all
of
this
he
said
that
he
didn't
understand
the
reason
my
previous
doctor
put
me
on
the
specific
medications
that
she
had.
I
explained
the
rational
behind
it
and
that
we
had
tried
multiple
medications
before
arriving
the
current
regimen,
but
Dr.
Balter
wouldn't
hear
it.
Instead
of
understanding
and
compassion
I
was
made
to
feel
like
I'm
a
junkie
who
is
just
seeking
pills.
He
even
went
so
far
as
to
say
that
the
federal
government
was
cracking
down
on
him
prescribing
meds
to
patients
like
me
(his
words,
not
mine).
At
that
point
I
pretty
much
shut
down
and
just
said
what
I
needed
to
so
that
I
could
end
the
situation.
He
began
talking
more
about
the
meds
that
I
had
already
tried,
saying
that
Gabapentin
(which
has
been
proven
to
do
nothing;
and
even
went
through
a
lawsuit
where
it
was
discovered
to
have
been
rushed
to
market
before
it
was
even
determined
to
have
any
efficacy
so
that
it
could
be
sold
to
unsuspecting
patients
who
desperately
needed
pain
relief)
was
a
good
choice
for
me.
Mind
you,
I
had
already
told
him
that
I
had
taken
it
religiously,
3
times
a
day
for
weeks
with
no
difference
to
my
pain
levels.
His
explanation
was
that
I
just
didn't
take
enough
and
said
that
he
was
going
to
write
a
new
script
for
a
greater
amount.
At
that
point
I
had
already
made
the
decision
that
I
wasn't
going
to
return
to
his
practice
and
I
didn't
want
to
have
anything
to
do
with
him
or
this
establishment.
I
didn't
pick
up
any
of
the
prescriptions
he
wrote
and
I'm
moving
on
from
this
mistake
I
made
in
going
to
see
him.
Long
story
shortened
(a
bit)
I'm
going
back
to
my
previous
Dr.
and
will
just
deal
with
the
distance
and
time
it
takes
to
get
there.
I
hope
and
pray
for
all
that
are
patients
of
Dr.
Balter
that
he
gives
them
the
compassion
and
understanding
that
he
denied
me.
Good
luck
in
your
search.
