UPDATED 2/23 (4 Stars): Ika seems to be getting back to the quality I know and love. Hoping to have a few more consistently good bowls before giving the 5th star. I would once again recommend stopping here or ordering to go! The last 5 bowls I’ve had have been up to snuff over the last month so I would say whatever was wrong with the kitchen has been remedied! UPDATED 12/22 (2 stars): I added a second star as since the initial 1 star review in 8/22 I have been back to Ika and had an on par delicious bowl of Tonk. I’ll add stars as I have consistent experiences again. Original 8/22 (1 star): I’m so heartbroken to do this. I cannot in good conscious recommend Ika ever again. I’m a former golden ticket holder (to those that don’t know, you buy a golden ticket and can get a free bowl of ramen daily for a year, 2021) and in 2020 used to go every Friday night: I know the Tonkotsu ramen. I know broth quality varies day by day because it’s homemade. But a few weeks ago my ramen was NOT quality in anyway. My small plates were amazing and spot on. The ramen broth held no flavor. I have had Maruchan microwave Tonkotsu broth with more flavor than my Ika bowl. Zach was amazing as always and gave me the same quality service he’s been giving me since mid-2020. This review is in no way a reflection of the waitstaff. Ika always has exceptional people: Zach and Whitney being star veterans of note. To be clear once more: my partner’s Niku Udon that night was good. My two small plates of pork belly steam buns and Tokyo fried chicken were both amazing. Heck, even my toppings on my ramen were great. But we all know the heart of a bowl of ramen is it’s broth. I’m leaving this poor review in a desperate plea to the owner of Ika: FIX IT! This is your most popular ramen and you are going to lose business if this is not remedied. I have made Ika a staple for friends who visit from out of town for hospital visits, conventions, shopping trips, etc. I have sung the praises of this place since my first visit on my 21st birthday in April 2018. I have had bowls of ramen better at Ika San, and I tell people to NEVER go to the downtown location because their quality has always been garbage in comparison to the Benson location. Now I’m not so sure. I’m happy to change this review to the 5 star it was meant to be made as years ago if the broth quality goes back to the Benson standard. Until then: VISITORS BEWARE. If they no longer care about the quality of their most popular bowl of ramen, who knows how long it will take for the quality of the rest of the food to follow?

AWFUL!! WORST JAPANESE FOOD EVER!!! Bad food. Check out the photos. Order Oyako Don take out ( if you google Oyako Donthen you know this is not it) , it is supposed to be boiled chicken with egg. I got overcooked, so dark and salty chicken with rice, no egg, cover with spicy Sriracha sauce and soy sauce. Cannot eat the food because I don’t eat spicy. Do not go there, food is junk and not real Japanese food (not owned and operated by Japanese) BAD BAD BUSINESS!!!

Summary: the food was average or slightly above average. The service seemed a bit chaotic. The price is reasonable. We entered the restaurant where there seem to be only two people working. We waited approximately 15 minutes before anyone noticed us. After we were seated, our waitress gave us the menu and took our drink orders. She came back a few minutes later, where we placed our appetizer as well as entrée orders. The food came fairly fast, and was warm. We ordered the brussels sprouts for appetizers, which were delicious. The entrées (vegetarian, and seafood Ramen), were not as good as our appetizer. The price was reasonable for the quantity. Overall, there are better Ramen places in the area. After visiting all those, and you’re looking for a new place, maybe you can consider this.

Ordered the purple kush ramen and the broth tasted lackluster. My favorite thing in the bowl was the roasted eggplant. Sad that the quality of their ramen bowls have dropped since I last visited pre-pandemic. The place was completely empty when I visited with a friend for dinner on a Sunday evening. 🍜

The food I got was extremely tasty. Displayed well. Not just thrown on the plate. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. Prices are about average and worth the cost.

Coming from the SF Bay Area, Ika Ramen was recommended by a friend who lives locally. We were greeted and seated quickly on a Tuesday night. I ordered the spicy miso ramen and shared a bunch of appetizers. I enjoyed my ramen, we all liked the spicy bok choy and Tokyo fried chicken. Service was friendly and I liked the vibe. Will come back again.

This place was just around the corner from our place, so we wanted to check it out. Coming from a big city with great food background, I didn't expect much, but their food was very beyond our expectations. Love the mural behind the bar and the vibe of the place!

Everything I had was delicious Brussels sprouts were my favorite started we tried several of the ramens and a poke bowl. This place is all about Ramen fusion if you are looking for authentic Japanese then this is not that but what it is is amazing I would give 5 stars but some menu items were on the pricey side for the amount you get

This is my favorite ramen spot in the whole city! I’ve been coming here for years and have always loved the Miso Ramen and their spicy tuna tots! I brought my now fiancé here on our second date and it instantly became a monthly date night for us! We like to go earlier in the evening to skip the rush, or sometimes we’ll do takeout so we can eat at home and watch a movie! They pack their broth separately for takeout orders so you don’t have to worry about your food getting soggy.

My wife and I popped in on a Saturday at 7pm for dinner and had a great time. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. I ordered a spicy dish, which was sufficiently spicy to grab your attention but not assault you. The room we were in looked as though it seated about 30 people, while everyone was talking, my wife and I could still talk quietly to each other. We were seated at the bar closer to the door. The AC poured over our spots, which was nice considering how hot it was outside. While the staff was quite busy managing the constant flow of arriving and departing guests, our needs were readily addressed. The cocktails and beer were well constructed, balanced, and varied. A few varieties of Sake are also on the menu. The food came out relatively quickly. The price to portion ratio was well balanced. Definitely a place to stop if you are looking for a wonderful date night location or someplace to take co-workers.

This is my absolute favorite ramen joint. I was visiting from out of state and I was STARVING so I stopped here and I couldn't have made a better choice. My server Autumn was the sweetest and treated my food with care. She didn't seemed bothered by any of my requests which was such a relief since I was so exhausted. I will definitely be coming here again!

Appallingly horrible. I can't remember when I've had a worse experience in a restaurant. The restaurant was clearly understaffed which was not their fault. We were not in a hurry and willing to wait. My husband got the wrong beer, no problem. But the starters, when they came out were disgusting. Brussels sprouts and buffalo cauliflower served in a cup of flavored fat. About 15 minutes after we finished our apps we had the chance to order our entrees. I ordered something light, I thought. The grilled shrimp poke bowl. After about 40 minutes I got my mayo with some rice and shrimp. Not light. Barely edible. I had a few bites and then waited about 20 minutes for my husband's food to come, which never did. By this time the were far fewer tables and things seemed to have slowed down for the staff. After watching about 5 bowls of ramen delivered to other tables he caught the servers attention to ask to have it boxed. She responded with a terse "yep" and sped away. Overall the service was poor, borderline rude. I get overstaffed. But I can't see why one need be rude. I will never be back. I can't believe I spent $90 on that.

Man, I hate to do this because I’ve had sooo many good experiences with this place however, a togo order of don chingon donburi with three pieces of meat and 89¢ worth of rice is unacceptable. Meat is untouched, I have only added some pepper sauce and taken a few bites of rice.

Very inconsistent. I was given plain rice and salmon on a to go order so I gave it to my cats because it was so bad. Normally is has a sauce with it.

Went there per a friends recommendation and it did not disappoint. The restaurant is kinda hidden at Shadow Lake Center but worth it. We were seated right away and ordered quickly. It did take about 20-25 min for the food to arrive, but when it did, it was worth the wait. I'll definitely return!

The food is Fire. I could eat a gallon of their spicy cucumbers. Also, the bar in the basement had a great selection of Sake and made awesome virgin cocktails for my Sober October.

First off service make a place go from good food to great experience. Shout out to Maya for the amazing service. The food is amazing. The Brussels are to die for. Their fried chicken is absolutely amazing. What a great place to grab a bite, the quality of this whole experience justifies the prices, and the quality is absolutely amazing.

Amazing. Generally some good anime on, food is fast service is friendly. There's even a bar downstairs that does some sweet sake drinks. Always get so much Ramen you have to take some home.

The food was awesome! Thought we'd try something new and we heard good things about Ika Ramen so had to give it a try. I tried the Fuego Ramen and my wife, the Tonkotsu and both entrees were extremely delicious. Service was great as well, our waitress did a great job managing the busy dinner rush.Definitely a winner! Sorry wish I took pictures of the meal but, it was gone!
