This is a German Beer Garden, or just a beer garden that has a lot of German beer. Nonetheless, they have a lot of beer and other drinks. If I was judge and jury of beer gardens, this place would get 6 stars. We, however, went into the place to eat. First things first, you will need to put a card on tab up front....or at your table. Leave it open as there are certain things like a tip, or another can of soda, that you will want to pay for without pulling your card back out. Nonetheless, read the menu and ingredients on each of the burgers and sandwiches. If you pick and choose your ingredients, you will make awesome choices. I had a "Smooth Criminal" minus pickles and onions. WOW. I mean the sauces on this thing was amazing. The fries, they could be better, but the burgers, got to have one. Remember, pick and choose your ingredients. Daughter had a chicken sandwich minus pickles, onions and jalapenos. She loved it. They have excellent pretzels...pretty authentic. Now, the sausages and schnitzel are on the menu but they don't have them. The waitress said they don't serve them anymore. Better check before you go down if you are only wanting sausage or schnitzel. The environment, pretty nice. I took pics of the inside. The back beer garden is pretty nice. I took away a star for a few things. The fries appear store bought. You can tell a lot about a joint by their fries. The missing sausage and schnitzel. If they are on the menu, then serve them. TVs. They had lots of TVs but the Hobbit was playing on one. The Office was playing on another, yet international soccer games were going on. Also, water was served in little plastic cups...not much bigger than a Dixie cup...so bring us a pitcher to help refill the water. Pop in cans (?), I don't know. Fix a few things and it's a 5 star. Anyway, I like the staff and the place was neat and clean. The price, upper side but you get a burger or sandwhich you haven't tasted before. I'd go back without hesitation.

We visited on a Sunday afternoon and the outdoor beer garden was gorgeous! The food is always excellent- especially the pretzels. Large beer selection and kind service.

Holy wow. I consider myself a foodie and the Barchen burger was the best burger I’ve ever had. Tasted like a gourmet McDonalds Big Mac. Literally drooling just writing this review! 100% grass fed Patties too??? Top notch my friends.

Went in after traveling all day as the first restaurant on our Omaha vacation. When we got there we were offered a food menu and an option to sit inside or out. We chose to sit outside. Our server took our drink and appetizer order in a fairly timely fashion but never returned with our daughters drinks or our waters, just the beers. After getting our appetizer and waiting and waiting for our server to come back for our food order I finally had my partner go inside as it was 8 and we had a hungry toddler with us. They informed us for the first time the kitchen was actually closed. We were never informed upon arriving or ordering our appetizer that the kitchen was nearing close. The staff inside were super kind and allowed us to order which is the only reason this wasn’t a one star experience. Unfortunately the food was pretty sub par as well and the service continued to get worse. For $16 I expected the chicken on the salad to be more than just frozen soggy chicken tenders from the kids menu. I’ve had better salads at Wendy’s to be honest. The burgers were greasy and definitely didn’t seem like the high quality meat that’s advertised on the menu. After only bringing out half our order the server abruptly told us he was “heading out” and asked if we needed anything else. We politely notified him we’d like the rest of our food and asked if we needed a bill to pay or if we just would go up to the bar when we were done since he hadn’t brought one and we had never eaten there before so we weren’t sure of protocol. He replied “it was fine because all the tips were shared”…I further explained I still wasn’t sure who to pay or how to know how much we owed. We eventually got everything we ordered and the bill but we felt robbed of $80 we felt would have been better spent on fast food.

We went to see the world cup game between the United States and England. A fabulous atmosphere. Good service. A spectacular terrace, with heaters for the cold. The parking lot was too small for so many people.

Cool bar pub in Benson with lots of German brews. Burgers are great I enjoyed a reuben this time. Free parking lot a few blocks away. Kinda pricey.

The Barchan burger is a really good option with a bit of a different spin. The pickled red onion isn't exactly my preference, but overall the burger was cooked to perfection and the fries went very well with the burger.

Large selection of beers, roomy, and has a nice outdoor Beer Garden. If you’re a soccer fan this is one of the Benson bars that you need to hit up. Great atmosphere during matches. Just recently tried their food (burger and fries) and I was certainly impressed. I personally had the Big Cheese which was a tasty burger consisting of a double wagyu patty, American cheese, garlic aioli, pickle, and onion. Each burger comes with delicious fries. I think they were truffle fries or the drizzle from my burger flavored them, lol.

Online it said the patio was pet friendly….and it was! Literally everyone was so friendly. They even brought our dog water. The atmosphere was great, this chicken sandwich was a religious experience. I had the Talk birdie to me. And I guess that’s what I will have every time we eat here because it’s unforgettable. My husband had the Nashville hot chicken sandwich, he said was good. But not life changing. Fries were good. Vibes were excellent. And they have my husbands favorite beer on tap. I couldn’t tell you what it was. Be he was very happy

29 Sept 2023, then AGAIN the next day LOL! I only wanted something to eat before I went to Musette's Bar where my daughter works. She had never been. I ordered the pretzel and a very nice craft beer, forget the name HAZY ipa. Much to my delight the pretzel did not look like the normal pretzel shape, but came in 2 pick-a-part pieces in a braided style. The complimentary CHEESE dip was amazing as well as the mustard, however I preferred the cheese. YUM! I stuffed myself with the whole lot, so didn't require a dinner! I ended up taking my daughter the next day...service was not as on top when I sat at the bar. Just took awhile to order and we were given a pitcher of water without any glasses...waited so long got our own. However, this would not prevent me going back. Daughter was just as surprised with the quality of our pretzel and we also ordered the Bratwurst appetizer with French fries! This was all we ordered, but I'll be back to Omaha in January! FAB FAB

Excellent food! The loaded fries, Reuben, little Birdy chicken sandwich and Nashville hot chicken were all awesome. The sauerkraut on the Reuben was seriously good. The pickles were clearly homemade. Little sad they didn't have the schnitzel, but quickly got over it. 5 stars! Thank you for the great lunch!

The food and service here was good. However, the service left a lot to be desired. The woman working at the bar could not be bothered to let us know what was not in stock before we attempted to order food and it wasn't until after we told her what we wanted that she would tell us they did not have something. She would not put up the umbrellas on the patio. She was unwilling to tell us what beers were out as well. We will likely be back, but hopefully we will have better service next time.

Bärchen is that place that wants to be great. Invested well in their bier garden, plenty of German bier on tap, good sized food menu with effort put into it. Unfortunately, last night was the second time in a row where they have had multiple biers out of stock with no warning until you try to order said bier. It's a pain when you go there for a tasty Hofbräuhaus, but they're out. The service tries hard, but they need a better system for their tables. Staff continually looked flustered by not knowing what food/drinks go where. Lastly, the burger and fries were good. However, they give you a sad portion of fries for a meal that costs $16.00.

Were in Omaha and did a search for dog friendly restaurant/bar and this came up. Glad we went. The staff was very helpful getting our dog water, setting up an umbrella and getting a fan going in the outside area. Oh, and the food was great. Had the pretzel and another appetizer - excellent. Got a kale salad and my son got burger and fries- everything was great.

This restaurant is right across the street from the Waiting Room, so it's a great place to catch a bite before a show. They have vegan options and a great outdoor seating area.

Barchen is undeniably a delightful spot, and its unique ambiance makes it a standout in the local beer garden scene. I've had the pleasure of dining here many times, and each visit has left a positive impression. While they have a couple of vegan options on their menu, I fondly recall a time when their vegan offerings were more extensive. It would be fantastic to see a return to that broader selection, as it would certainly incentivize more frequent visits from vegan patrons like myself. Similarly, I'd love to see more options for those with gluten sensitivities. While removing the bun from a burger is a workaround, it does feel a tad limiting, especially considering the price point. A more inclusive menu would undoubtedly elevate the dining experience for many. That being said, what consistently stands out at Barchen is their staff. Every interaction, from the moment I walk in, exudes warmth and hospitality. A special shoutout to bartender Ashley – their expertise, charm, and genuine passion for her craft never fail to elevate my visit. Whenever I spot Ashley behind the bar, I know I'm in for a memorable experience. In summary, Barchen offers a unique blend of ambiance, quality beverages, and exceptional staff. With a few menu enhancements, it could easily be a five-star destination. I look forward to seeing how they evolve and will certainly be back, especially when Ashley is on duty!

Updated*** We came on a week day about an hour before closing. These two factors, I think affected our service a bit. Our server did not get all the order in because he didn't hear all of it due to the loud fan noise outside. The plates were missing some things but the kitchen was closed so they could not bring it out. The server was not able to check in on us at all so we had to go back inside for anything else we needed. The food was spectacular, specially considering how close to close time it was. The service was pleasant and respectful even though it felt a bit absent and lacking. ****************************************** Always an awesome place to eat and spend time in! The drinks are always flawless, the sausages are some of the best in town, and the service is friendly and efficient! Here is a pic of their happy hour info just in case :)

Great food! But the service was not very good. The lady helping us seemed annoyed and they took really long.

We pretty much compare any other Burger in town to these burgers now. And this place always wins. Smooth Criminal is my favorite and my husband says the Nashville hot chicken is the best in town and actually hot! And he gets the "medium" The Barchen burger they are known for, is great also.

I had what was an initially positive experience ordering a burger and a wine glass sized Pilsner beer. The host was very genial and expedited the meal as I became aware he did for others. OK. At the end of the meal I had my wallet out sitting on the table when a young female waitstaff came by to take my payment. She did not give me a paper bill but looked at an electronic pad and told me $26.00 'cash'. It would have been nice to have seen a slip with the totals but I paid in cash without comment. I got up to the leave and went by the host at the bar to thank him for his initial geniality and was greeted with hostility instead. He asking me to pay my bill that I already had in cash? I replied that his female waitstaff had collected same and this had been in cash. And then I left. In hindsight, when the 'head did not know what the tail is doing', it is a good lesson that a customer should ALWAYS be provided with a paper receipt totaling the items purchase so such embarrassments can be prevented on both ends! Though it is obvious they are popular bistro in Benson, I personally would be gun shy about ever returning there ever again.

I love this restaurant! Lots of delicious German beer, scrumptious food, and great seating to play/watch games! Their hummus and pimento dips are great. The Nashville hot chicken sandwich is hot but flavorful. Service is always quick and the restaurant/Bathroom always clean.

This place had a cool atmosphere, and the food was great. You're suggested to order by scanning a QR code, but it works well. Also the burgers do come with fries. At this time, it doesn't state that on the menu. We ended up ordering way too many fries. They are delicious however.

I haven’t had a bad experience at Barchen. The servers are knowledgeable about German brews and the food is fresh and made to order! I do enjoy their happy hour on Tuesday through Friday from 3-6pm CST. They also have happy hour options for food as well, and have other cocktails on their list as well as canned drinks to be able to serve. Overall, it’s my go to place in Benson & I’m looking forward to coming back again.

First time here. Food and service were great. Nice beer selection as well but on their pours they seem to short you a couple ounces or so on just about every one. I saw very few where they poured out any of the thick foam on top to finish filling it up properly. I’ll come back to try more of the food but won’t be buying as much beer as I normally would. Hopefully they get better about that.

This used to be one of my favorite spots for a beer and a meal. I’m not sure if they have new management, but on my last couple of visits the service has left a lot to be desired. I understand many places are struggling with staffing, but the problem with the service here is more than lack of staff. We waited 15 minutes for a server to acknowledge us and then went inside where the server was just standing at the bar. We were told to head back out and our order would be taken. Our drinks finally arrived after 25 minutes. We ordered an appetizer and two meals which came out all at once and was all cold. We asked for silverware and sauces and did not receive them. When we finished we had to track down our server to close out. I’ve been many other places that have been short staffed and have been able to handle it. Save your money and go somewhere else.

German-inspired fare with a nice variety of beers and some fun cocktails. Open space with a lot of communal seating, nice for a group. Clean bathrooms, too! Staffing seemed tight (as is common right now), so leave yourself plenty of time if you're having a meal. There was some trouble with the tech for taking orders and another group's tab for added to ours, but staff eventually got it ironed out. Definitely some hiccups, but still a nice experience and I would definitely go back.

After doing a bodybuilding show, my first priority is finding delicious food. Bärchen beer garden is where I wound up and I must admit, the food was delicious! I enjoyed being able to eat outside on a perfect fall day, the tables were well placed and the outside area was clean and orderly. There was a soccer game going on at the time which seemed to be enjoyed thoroughly by the patrons. I wasn’t there for the game but I still enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and the food to go with! The Rueben sandwich was well balanced with strong flavors without any single ingredient being overpowering and the fries were extremely tasty. The pretzels were quite good as well although the traditional twist was a bit over cooked and wound up more pretzel stick crunch level then the normal bite outside abs soft inside. Accompanied with mustard and beer cheese, both were wonderful additions to both types of pretzel.

When I saw the beer menu, I was excited. It’s too bad that, despite waiting for 15 minutes, my friends and I were never acknowledged by the staff so we left. I doubt anyone even noticed us walk out. Too bad. Fortunately, a neighboring establishment, which was far busier, was able to accommodate us.

When I’m in Omaha, I come here several times. I love their Grapefruit Radler, trying different beers, and ordering new food on the menu. Summertime I love sitting in the beer garden and in the winter find me inside having chat with the bartender. Everyone is friendly and works hard. I’ve taken work meetings here, brought friends, family, and recommend it to everyone. Just love this place. Thanks BÄRCHEN! Cheers!

I've been to Barchen a handful of times, but this afternoon was disappointing. I sat back on the patio and waited for over 15 minutes without being greeted. Someone finally acknowledged my party's presence, but alas, I was still waiting. I have difficulty remaining chill when people who arrive after me get served before me. We left after 20 minutes with no service. The only reason why I'm leaving 2 stars is the food was decent upon previous visits.

So so happy we chose to have supper here! Traveling with three kids is tricky but the staff here were very understanding and helpful. Our waitress was patient with us while we figured out what we wanted to order and told us there was a connect four game that our kids could play with. The food and beer came out quickly and were delicious! The kids meals are huge portions and good quality. The staff checked in with us often to see if they could get us anything or take any dishes out of our way.

Super fun atmosphere. Loads of people the time we went. Great food. Excellent beer. Some people stated in the comments not a big selection, but we felt it was huge. Take a look on their website as they have a lot of great and select beers you can’t find anywhere else that taste amazing. Really impressed this is in the omaha area and super great to come for soccer games which is awesome. Very nice customer service as well

Not our kind of place. We went for brats and hot mustard since it was a German place. But they no longer had that. Had a burger, it was good but not what we wanted. Music to loud. Our first and last time there.

  • 5/5 Chad S. 2 years ago on Google
Creative menu, solid beer selection, and cute environment. Over the last couple of years, I've noticed the prices climbing a bit and the beers rotating less often, but all still generally feel inline with the quality you receive. Compared to other 'bar food', the sandwiches are quite a bit more creative and do feel like they are generally higher quality. The rosemary herb fries are quite tasty too. The seating is comfy and the TVs are tastefully placed. I like the option to watch soccer, without being bombarded by inputs as I am trying to focus on a conversation. On top of all that, their outdoor space is great too.

Good drinks, okay food, good service. The burgers actually lacked some flavor in most bites I took and I tried 2 burgers. Maybe a bit more seasoning and the burgers would be great. I can't give 5 stars due to the burgers but I highly recommend to check out for drinks. I went on a Saturday night and the wait at the bar wasn't bad.
