Excellent food. This place amazes me every time I go there. The vegetarian platter is very good. The ambience of the place needs to be improved. I have noticed that the price of the food is increased so I would expect better ambience. Good portions and reasonable price. Definitely try the spiced tea. It's relieving. I will definitely go there again.

My wife and I are regulars at Lalibela and we always order the same delicious dish: the combination platter. This is a delicious mix of vegetables, beans and meat. It is not the kind of dish you eat alone. It’s meant to be shared with friends and family. It is served with a traditional Ethiopian bread and always includes a small amount of injera – the soft, sour pancake that is served with everything. The combination platter is always a good value for money. You get to enjoy a mix of different tastes and textures – and the meal is not as heavy as many other Ethiopian dishes. One of the things that makes this platter so special is the combination of vegetables. They're not all from the same area in Ethiopia, so they each have their own unique flavour.

Oh my goodness! Authentic Ethiopian deliciousness. The tastes were amazing, the owner as friendly as they come. As is traditional, no silverware. Highly recommend the combo plate to get a real feel for the different tastes and textures.

1st time eating Ethiopian style did not disappoint. Delicious and an experience eating without utensils- but don't worry there were plenty of napkins provided. I will definitely be eating here again.

That was quite a interesting place experience with greens and a traditional authentic experience .. combination platter is for couple Or families who do not mind sharing the food as the authentic experience is to share and eat the food together .. that is what the combination plate is ordered for .. perfect for a couple and expect some Ethiopian spices. The various types of tastes will be a mix of some bland , greens , lentils and meats. Good for a couple.

Lalibela's is one of our favorite restaurants in all of Omaha! We highly recommend! We've been visiting here about 10 years now and the quality is still consistently amazing. Lalibela is traditional Ethiopian family style dining, so all of your food will be set on one tray in the middle of the table. Traditionally, you use your hands with your injera (traditional Ethiopian bread) to pick up your food. They have forks available too if you're not comfortable eating with your hands. If you're at a loss for what to order, definitely go with the combination platter. The tea is also amazing and we highly recommend - you really can't go wrong with anything as we've enjoyed everything we've tried. The serving sizes are very substantial and we almost always have to take some to-go. Long story short, the food is amazing, the owner is so friendly, you get huge portion sizes for what you pay - please visit Lalibela's if you can - we highly recommend! (Also, If you want to try traditional Ethiopian coffee, they recently opened Lucy's coffee shop across the street too - we also highly recommend Lucy's Coffee!)

Food is always wonderful. The teff bread is filling. We usually get 2 different meat dishes which includes the 3 lentils, greens, pickled cabbage, cheese, and a pepper puree. More than enough to share between 4 people.

Delicious food!! The combination plate is perfect to be able to try a lot of things. Definitely enough to feed 2-3 people. The spiced tea was also amazing.

I absolutely love this place. The owners are so so nice! The combo platter is my favorite and usually is enough food for two. You can call ahead for take out! Always so fresh and so delicious! It's my favorite place to go! They only have bottled drinks so prepare for that. Other wise it is my favorite place in Omaha.

I have been to a lot of Ethiopian restaurants in various cities including Minneapolis, Seattle, Kansas City, and many more major Metro areas. But this restaurant by a far is the best one I have ever been to. The owners gave me a friendly welcome and service. The food is so delicious and pure. The atmosphere is also very great. You feel welcomed with great hospitality.

The food was very tasty and was definitely authentically Ethiopian cuisine. I particularly loved the spiced vegetables and the Ethiopian flat bread. The bread was perfectly textured - soft and moist. The waitress patiently explained what the different dishes were on the plate. My friend and I ordered a combination of both meat and vegetables. The serving size for two people was very generous. My only slight criticism was the fact the restaurant didn't offer a free glass of water. Diners have to order bottled water if they so desire. We also ordered Ethiopian hot, spiced tea which was delicious but a tad bit too sweet. Overall, it was a good dinning experience at this restaurant! In terms of the degree of how hot the food is (spice wise), I would rate it a 3 on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 be the highest. This is very welcoming for people whom cannot tolerate very hot, spicy food.

Absolutely spectacular food. The place is cozy inside, was fairly busy, and the gentleman running the front was very nice and quick. I’ve never had Ethiopian food so I won’t compare elsewhere but the dishes were all delicious. The bread…omg. It is so good. Like a sourdough pancake almost. I couldn’t stop eating even though I was full. 3 people eating for only $45ish bucks? Deal. You gotta buy their water or soda so bring your own if you don’t wanna pay but that’s ok for me. Small business so helping cut costs is understandable. Bring a fork if you aren’t ok with sharing plates as well because they don’t give you plates or silverware but that’s completely ok with me and added to the experience. Pic is basically the remains because I forgot to get a photo before

I read the glowing reviews and really looked forward to trying the food at Lalibela. It was also my first time eating Ethiopian food. I dined in, and even the people stopping in to pickup their takeout orders were raving about the food. It's delicious! I ordered the combo platter, which had a mixture of different foods and spices, eaten on and with a side of Injera bread. I also ordered a second combo platter to-go to bring to family. Staff was very kind. There were also laminated papers on the table describing Ethiopian cuisine and food history, which was nice. Definitely recommend and look forward to going back the next time I'm in Omaha! :) Cultural tip: it's traditional/cultural etiquette to eat with your right hand. Enjoy!

You absolutely cannot beat this place for Ethiopian in Omaha. Great prices, great food, and an experience you won't forget. Never had it before? Get the combo, it easily feeds two. Before you know it you'll be back - I can promise you that. For the uninitiated, you'll be eating with your hands off a common plate. The bread is gluten free and the combo will get you a taste of everything. Several rolls of bread will be served on the side. You tear off a piece and use it to grab your bites. Most of the dishes on the combo are vegetarian, but not all. If you run out of bread, there's always the bread the food is sitting on, and you can request more - if your stomach can get that far! The owners are local and authentic, good family people, and you can see the cook in the kitchen. Many of Omaha's substantial Sudanese and horn of Africa populations eat here regularly, but you'll also find a mix of midtown, which is in and of itself diverse. I think it's really neat it's in an old pizza hut that's been repurposed, and it definitely has rough edges to match the neighborhood. But you seriously cannot get better food in this strip - no matter how much your grandma likes the Rice Bowl. You absolutely will not regret eating here.

One of my favourite places to eat in Omaha. Sadly, I do think it’s a gem that not many know about. Owners and staff are very friendly and make great recommendations. The tea is amazing. The quality and consistency of food is outstanding. I can’t sing enough praises for Lalibela — definitely try it out for yourself.

The food was delicious! A variety of tastes and textures are offered with the combo plate, and it was enough food for three of us. The tea was delicious as well - slightly sweet and brimming with warm spices. Casual atmosphere, helpful staff. Will definitely be going back!

Incredible experience. Great food, beautiful atmosphere. The spiced tea was simply incredible. My friends and I had a truly wonderful time. The food was wonderful. It was spicy and the vegetables were fresh and added a lightness to the dishes. The portions were large. All and all, it is an incredible restaurant and I would gladly come back again.

I've been a patron for years. The husband and wife team treat you like family. The food is excellent, especially if you enjoy the aromatic, uniquely rich and medicinal Ethiopian spices and herbs. The wait is definitely worth it; and, the portion sizes are satisfying. It's not a bad idea to call ahead and inform them if you plan to be a part of a large party celebrating a special event. Enjoy and in encourage you to return frequently with friends and family.

Absolutely delicious! I HAVE to come eat here at least once a month and I've never had a bad experience with my food or the service. A local restaurant that I would definitely recommend to anybody.

Shared the combo plate, and it was delightful. The garlic and jalapeño relish condiment was the star. We added it to each bite and even took some home. The owner gave us a sample of the tea and it too was worth ordering. It was similar to chai without the milk.

This restaurant is the definition of an authentic back home Ethiopian restaurant. They have great hospitality and the food is amazing, the most exquisite fresh natural taste of the motherland.

Every detail of Lalibela was spot on--the service, food, price--were incredible. Best Ethiopian we've had for a while, and we had left-overs for 3 more meals. As we left the restaurant, the owner came out after us because my wife had left her purse and phone. We have no reasons to look for another Ethiopian option in Omaha.

First time trying. Interesting dish. Not bad at all. I did not order spicy. I would like to actually dine in with a group of people. The tea was amazing & the owner was very nice and explained each dish and how they were to be ate. I'm open to try different countries cuisines.

I started trying different cuisines and wanted to try an Ethiopian restaurant. This place is the best! The food is fantastic and the owner even explain everything very well. They have great options for vegan lovers. Great price and Flavor too. I will recommend this to anyone who is looking for vegetarian options.

Came here after taking two pugs to the dog park at UNO, with Vic and Soph, while Alex was playing her championship softball game in Kansas City. The vegetarian plate was not very flavorful. Some of it was a bit bitter. The best Ethiopian food I’ve had is still the one in Lincoln, on 27th St.

A friend took us there for lunch. It was our first experience with Ethiopian food, but it won't be our last. I had a combination plate which was a very delicious introduction to a variety of dishes. I asked for mild seasoning and there were just two items out of the nine presented that were a little hot, but not ineatible. My husband had a lamb stew which was fantastic. I noticed they had a brisk take-out business going on, too. An overall delicious experience.

Delicious vegetable platter that came out very promptly. Great service. Appreciated that the server showed us how to fold up the injera and flip the plate into the takeout container at the end!

Had the dry tibs with injera. So good. I love the eating experience. Spicy, sweet, sour, savory. Combined with eating with your hands. Oh yeah. Thanks again!

Lalibla is a gem; it’s one of those restaurants you can easily recommend to anyone. Their menu has a variety of options (including patrons with dietary restrictions). The interior isn’t anything to write about but it’s what makes it unique as a family run restaurant. The owner is very friendly and prompt. After coming here for numerous times, the food is always warm and fresh. The portions are gigantic for the price. Highly recommend to anyone.
