My friend and I stayed here for 5 nights. We had a double bed room for 10€ a night, which I consider a really good price!! The hostel has a nice location and is located directly in the center of the old town and close to a metro station. The AC in our room was not good, but at least we had one + we had a TV From our room, we had a direct view on the river and the court house, which was pretty nice. The staff was very nice as well!! Unfortunately the cleanliness should definitely be improved. The toilet didn't take a cleaning for at least 4 days. So as you can guess it was pretty dirty after a day with lots of people using the toilet and therefore stank a lot! The toilet paper was empty for that whole time in all the toilets in the house as well. I don't know, how the other guests cleaned themselves or if they even did, but we had to use tissues in order to clean ourselves after using the toilet. On our last day we actually asked them to give us toilet paper since they didn't seem to care to refill it themselves. Furthermore we did have soap for the first days, but after the bottle was empty, they weren't in need to refill or exchange the soap :/ The kitchen was okay and clean, but there weren't any windows, so it kinda smelled very badly in there. Also there was food in the fridge, that definitely should have been removed way earlier since it didn't seem that enjoyable anymore... Sadly they didn't tell us they were locking the kitchen during the night, so when we had to leave very early in the morning, we couldn't take our prepared food out of the fridge and had to endure our 17 hour journey by train without any real food, cause we had no time whatsoever to buy any :(

The place was very nice, except for one small horrifying detail: the beds in our room were crawling with bedbugs. You know, small, horrid blood sucking insects! The hotel owners seemed very unfazed by the news and blankly told us that we will have our money back the next day (which we still didn't receive) and left us to find a new place to sleep on our own in the middle of the night, at 2 AM. Would not recommend to my worse enemies!

Mattresses and pillows are uncomfortable. Only thin sheets provided (no blankets or duvets) You get what you pay for. Cheap as chips with a really bad rude staff. The UGLY: The staff is extremely RUDE and ABUSIVE. They kept walking in our room without any reason. Our flight was landing at 3 am and we were told we can't check in after midnight so we need to wait at reception or common areas by Irena before we booked (and we booked our dates as suggested by her). Later Yunus was extremely rude/abusive and threatened to cancel our reservation & charge us extra. (They missed out on big fat tips due to this behaviour) Allowed us to keep our luggage after 8am. Lockers are provided for smaller luggages but there are limited lockers and other things are put in an unlocked room next to kitchen Lots of bugs (bed bugs/flies/mosquitos) Customer service at booking.com do nothing If you must book this place, do it directly with hostel as it's much cheaper

The staff were friendly and the location is great for old town. However there are no lockers or locks on the doors. I didn’t book it my friend did which is fine but our cables went missing (including my Apple Watch charger) and they replaced beds in our room so we came back to our stuff all over the place, on other pols bed, dirty clothes , including mens pants, and a knife were left on my bed! Staff said they would refund for the missing items but didn’t which is fine as we left them in our bags. Just could have let us know they were going to do it and moved our stuff so it didn’t get thrown about etc. I wouldn’t have left a review but I’ve come home to a skin infection which is most likely due to dirty bedding there and have had to get antibiotics. I would personally avoid staying here as for me having this coming home is not worth the cheap price. Stay somewhere clean so you don’t get sick and can use a locker to protect your things :)

My Bucharest holiday was ruined when I was bitten by bed bugs at Antique Hostel. Woke up before 4am to find the whole bed crawling with bed bugs & they were crawling all over me too!!! The hostel description stated that 24-hour reception. There was only 1 Romanian guy who could not speak a single word of English. No help at all. Had to pack up & leave hostel at 4am to look for another hotel! Imagine wondering around alone at 4am in a new city since I was on a solo travel!!! This was my 1st encounter with bed bugs & I was traumatised! Went back to Antique Hostel at 8am & showed the manager & staff the bed which still had bed bugs on it. Was compensated for 1 night and they helped to steam my things & given insect bite cream. However, this was not enough to make up for the traumatic experience & the paranoia that I am suffering (could not get a good night sleep until now as I kept waking up to check my bed whenever there is an itch). Had to take anti histamine medication & apply steroid cream on bites due to itch. Had to spend more money on new hotel, laundry & plastic + ziplock bags to ensure these bed bugs do not hitchhike on my things. According to Antique Hostel staff, this is not the first time they have bed bug issues! AVOID ANTIQUE HOSTEL

If you’re looking to stay here please know the photos you see do not look like the actual hostel at all. The hostel is very old and run down and as a result pretty dirty. There is literally no locks on any doors of dormitory rooms and each rooms have no working locks. If you’re looking to meet people this isn’t a social hostel and there are hardly younger people here

This is a little gem of a hostel right in the heart of the old town with a river view. It's situated on the south side of the old town with great views of the river and far enough from the bars keeping you up all night. I spent a week here and the staff were very welcoming always happy to help and the hostel had a nice homely atmosphere to it. A great kitchen with free coffee in the morning and tea available all day. The common room has a flat screen tv & computer for watching movies on those rainy days. But the greatest thing is the balcony at sunset such a great place to watch the sun go down. The rooms are spacious, have AC with large lockers underneath. Bathrooms are clean and they have plenty on each floor. Someone is on reception 24 hours so those of you worried about security then this is the place as they have camera too. All in all I had a great stay and will defiantly be coming back. Thanks everyone :)
