Shane and Xin Pei were the perfect hosts! The place is well equipped, wonderfully located, and very very clean! They were very accommodating and even allowed us to shower + leave our things while we explored before we checked in. They have great advice and recommendations and I cannot have asked for a better stay in Georgetown! The night markets are literally just outside and you’re a stone’s throw away from all the great cafes and bars. They even thoughtfully included earplugs just in case it got noisy (it didn’t). I highly recommend staying here the next time you’re in town :) I know i will be back!

High quality budget hostel. Highly recommend if you’re on a smaller budget. Owner Shane was amazing too. Snacks left for guests as well as free ice cold drinking water, Tea and coffee. Beds are comfy and shower facilities pretty good. Very clean, cleaners appear to be on daily! We booked 3 nights and ended up staying for 4 as it was so cheap and Penang was so fun!

Room was so damp and badly ventilated (also no window) that we only stayed 1 night and moved to another hotel. Staff was helpful and refunded us remaining night.

Aayu Chulia is a nice quaint hotel located in the heart of George Town. The rooms are tiny without windows making it very quiet. The rooms were clean. It was good for the couple of nights we spent. The bed was uncomfortable and the owner tried to fix it by flipping the bed. It didn't help much but we appreciated his effort. The service was spectacular.

Shane the owner organised us a room at the last minute and was extremely helpful throughout our stay. He gave us food/activity recommendations and is very willing to answer any questions. The family room was very spacious and clean, filtered water/coffee/toast/cookies were left freely for the guests. The location was perfect. Would definitely stay again!

Had a great stay here. It's a nice budget but modern hostel, rooms are basic but still very nice. There is free water, coffee, bread and cookies in the common area which is always a nice touch in stays like this. The owner Shane is great too and always available if you need anything. The location is also great within Georgetown, there's a lot of nice restaurants nearby and a 7-11. Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a stay at a very reasonable price.

The room was close to the street with few noises but no problem cause bool quies was provided, the owner was very attentive and good location close to many bars and supermarket

Stayed here for 4 days 3 nights. Convenient location! The room was clean, with ensuite bathroom. Wi-Fi was fast, never had an issue Shane replies to messages promptly, which made the booking and check-in process hassle-free. Shane was not only helpful but also very accommodating, going an extra mile to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
