This place is the worst VA hospital I have been to and I've been to a totally of 18. The staff are rude, lazy, unprofessional, unethical, and flat out disrespectful. I thought, years ago when the PHX VA scandal made international new that things would change. SMG, the head honchos in Washington DC needs to visit. Hell they should do the whole undercover boss scenario. I served my country by choice. As a veteran I am respectfully requesting the respect my fellow veterans and myself have earned. Humbly submitted

Yesterday, I experienced this VA's horrible reputation. I don't know how often I had to call and was hung up on so I could make a new patient appointment. Every time I was directed to the operator, I couldn't understand what they were saying; they were speaking in a mumbling tone and sounded rude. Luckily, I got a hold of the facility in Gilbert, and the lady was very nice and scheduled an appointment. I am not looking forward to this VA's future experiences.

I went in person for enrollment and found them to be super friendly & helpful. Was seen in 5 minutes and received a lot of great information and a new photo ID. Better to go in person as I have called and left 2 voice msgs over a 7 day period and no return call back, even though the answering service says they will be in touch within 48 hrs. The ''Enrollment & Eligibility" center is at the Main Entrance/ Emergency Entrance. Visitor parking is to the left of the main entrance.

Compared to other VA hospital systems I've utilized in other states, hands down this VA is one of the worst. The one star is for the admin support, technicians and some of the nurses that do an amazing job. With few exceptions, the majority of the providers are terrible. I get so tired of providers who haven't served one day in the military deny me access to care I've earned.

Some of the rudest, most inexperienced, uncaring "professionals " I have ever been to. Half treat you like you're slime beneath their feet, the other half have 0 clue what they're doing. I get 5 different stories from 5 different ppl on the status of my illness. Have you ppl heard of taking notes? Doing your job? Communicating? This place employes the most miserable human beings I've ever came in contact with. If you HATE your job and you HATE the public, do us all a favor and GET OUT OF HEALTHCARE. I refuse to go here unless I'm actively dying.

Would not recommend. This place lives up to the VA mission statement "Delay, deny, Hope you die". Parking is atrocious. I had to drive around the entire parking lot 4 times before finding someone pulling out of a spot. Eligibility office never answers the phone or returns voice-mail. Prosthetics office didn't answer the phone for 3 days straight of me calling to find out if they had my order ready. Their voice-mail was full so I couldn't even leave a message. While I was in their waiting room an elderly female veteran was there and said she tried to call but they never answer the phone and the employee told her to leave a voice-mail and they always call back... She told them the voice-mail was full and the VA employee said nothing and handed her a box and walked back through the security door.. The ER makes you wait for hours unless you are missing a limb and don't have the bleeding under control already. A couple employees told me about how horrible the VA is in Pheonix and that they have outgrown their facilities and services over and over but offered no solutions. Travel office has not processed my travel claim and it's been over 2 months since submitting in-person. This is what universal healthcare will look like if we adopted it.

"Why not have lunch at the VA?" I told my husband Ron. We had to grab a couple things at the commissary. We proveeded to the Patriot Canteen located in the VA hospital. There were several food stations, deli sandwiches to order, salad bar and soups, hot chicken cooked in different ways and a buffet with meat, mashed potatoes and more. Our lunch totalled $11 with a bag of chips included. My veggie wrap was made fresh and tasted very good. My hubby's Club was tasty and loaded with turkey. Overall an excellent lunch value, and so l give the VA canteen a high 5 star!

Waste of time and gas. Waited two months for a neurology appointment following a hospital stay for what they thought was a stroke (which I then got a $3000 bill for). Spent 45 minutes driving from Mesa just to wait another 45+ to not be seen. Checked in for the appointment 15 minutes early, got called back for vitals, and then waited another 35 minutes PAST MY APPOINTMENT TIME before leaving. There were walk-ins without appointments getting seen left and right, while I sat in a packed waiting room before becoming too uncomfortable to wait any longer. The sign said capacity was 17 people but it was far more crowded than that, and was filling up far faster than people were leaving it. For a city as big as Phoenix, to only have one VA hospital and for it to be so poorly run and managed is absolutely unacceptable.

How do so many of you people think this place is descent by even the littlest bit. I am pretty sure most of the reviews on here that spout about how great the Phoenix VA is are most likely fake or VA reps. This place and most workers there are a disgrace. Good luck!

If you're interested in this facility, it's fair to say, you may be a Veteran. If you are, understand that this rating is for this visit. As most of the Veterans in the community already know, we here often for visits and for the majority of them this place is far less than decent. I have witnessed a great deal of change in the recent years and the VA Hospital in Phoenix progressively gets better. Although we will all have our bad days, this visit, for me, was one of the better ones. Wait time in Jade Opal was down to less than 10 minutes, the staff was genuinely friendly and assisting, and my fairly recent Dr. was very helpful and caring. There's always going to be those days where the facility or the faculty do not meet your ideal mindset, however, if you need help, come back and give them the opportunity.

I was involved in a motorcycle accident on I-10 on Halloween after being cut off by a vehicle. I locked my front brakes and ended up flying (literally) over the handle bar, landing on my face (no. I was not wearing a helmet). I was transported to a civilian hospital via ambulance due to my injuries (blow out of the orbital bone). Two surgeries later my vision on my left eye has not been restored and Iโ€™m still fighting with the Veterans Administration (VA) as they originally referred me to a plastic surgeon instead of an eye surgeon. Iโ€™ve been waiting for a second referral for an eye nerve and muscle specialist for over a week with constant calls, faxes and e-mails on a daily basis to no avail. Yesterday I received a letter from the VA stating, they will not cover my visit to the civilian hospital as I did not obtain prior approval and the treatment received was, โ€œnon-emergentโ€, meaning it was not an emergency. โ€œVA, giving our veterans a second chance to die for their countryโ€ Merry Christmas!!!!!

As a patient, the service here is incredibly hit and miss, and you will definitely be waiting most of the time. Always head to the parking garage because it's the only place you'll probably be able to find parking. As a veteran who uses the VA, I thought I could make a difference as an employee, but that was an awful experience. I just walked out of my supervisor job here and will never work for the federal government again. Terrible leadership from the top down, so much red tape you can't accomplish anything, incompetent and lazy workers, it's impossible to discipline employees, extreme government waste (I discovered thousands of dollars worth of non-inventoried equipment laying around that was either rarely or never used), no SOP's, nobody seemed to care about anything. My department was less than half staffed and responsible for cleaning the entire hospital and campus - that's scary considering they're responsible for the healthcare of over 100,000 veterans. It would probably be shut down if it wasn't a federal facility. Maybe the department I worked in was worse than others, but it was definitely one of the worst places I've worked. I finally gave up and walked out the day I gave my notice. What I wrote is just the tip of the iceberg; there are so many problems I can't even begin to go into. You would think this place would improve after being in the national news for scandals almost a decade ago. This place is shameful, and our veterans deserve so much better.

Lady doing the admitting to the ER on Juneteenth was incredibly rude. I tried to explain our situation to her but she basically told me to shut up and give her my father's information. if she would have let me finish she would have realized that my father had no id and we didn't know his ssn because he was very confused. She stated she could look it up and then said like I have nothing better to do under her breath. She and the gentleman helping admit people we're arguing loudly with each other in front of a room full of people. This situation was so stressful and having this happen surely didn't help. I would like to say the doctors and nurses once my dad was admitted were much more compassionate and helpful.

The quality and care at this hospital is worse than banner health. My primary care physician Patel at the thunderbird clinic asked me if I have diabetes, what you are supposed to be looking at my records!!! Then Patel proceeds to say oh I have the wrong person on my screen. The Phoenix va is probably one of the worst va hospitals I have ever been to. Besides if they were so good why are they always on the news for being in trouble for malpractice and such? That is a question for all of you that go there religiously.

My encounter with Dr. Freelander was not productive and he minimized my issues and pain. After the first visit in Podiatry with Dr. Freelander and feeling ignored after going to the ER 5 different times before that appointment he tried to prescribe me oral toradol but this medication is not FDA approved or provided by the VA. When I went to pick up my prescription downstairs at the pharmacy, I was not able to get it. He did a great job pulling fluid from my toe joint but did not touch on my foot pain. He was also disrespectful when talking to me. I ended up going to Foot and Ankle on Chandler Blvd and this doctor was extremely detailed in why I was having pain along with what was causing it. He also suggested that I stayed off of my feet for two weeks. He then prescribed me Methylprednisolone because I let him know that the VA did nothing for me for my pseudogout attack I was continuing to have for three weeks. so thankfully I was able to get a steroid pack and some pain relief. I for sure will not be going back to the PHX VA for podiatry assistance after the last two unprofessional appointments I had with Dr. Freelander. I am not a doctor but I am also not going to allow a doctor to tell me there is nothing he can do for me when another doctor was able to. The VA health care system needs to do better. And yes, I contacted patient advocate to address the situation. One of the Nurses said that Dr. Freelander was one of their best of the 16 foot doctors and if that is the case I no longer will go back to the VA for podiatry assistance. I have had several surgeries and have encountered many competent doctors. Dr. Freelander was not competent or respectful. I am absolutely sick to my stomach with how both of my appointments went with Dr. Freelander. He also made it seem like he was only there twice a week due to being retired already. His lack of apathy and not resolving the issues I was having showed how he really cares about taking care of veterans.

I went to my appointment on May 2nd for a service related injury that acted up and is keeping me from working higher paying jobs. The doctor said she was going to schedule an MRI and put a rush on it so I wouldnโ€™t miss more work. I called today to check the status and was told I had to schedule that myself. I will not be seen until the end of May. Then they have to determine if I have to go in for surgery. In the meantime I will miss out on a lot of work. Way to look out for the veterans.

SHAME ON YOU VA HEALTHCARE Nov/dec 2023 - chronic pain clinic blames my neuropathy on alcohol. Ignores the fact Iโ€™ve got bulging lumbar discโ€™s, sciatica, fibro and other physical issues. Oh and I rarely drink. I didnโ€™t have the patience or drive to try and correct them. They talked me out of seeing a neurologist and didnโ€™t want to write me the referral. Fibro is a neurological condition, as is neuropathy. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ 10/12/23 - was told to yesterday to wait by my phone this morning for the womenโ€™s health clinic to call and schedule an appointment for me. Big surprise, no phone call. Last week I felt insulted by the womanโ€™s healthcare advocate while I was expressing my concerns and experiences that Iโ€™ve had there. There was some mistreatment by staff and she referred me to a group for veterans. I told her that me taking a group would not fix the staffโ€™s mistreatment and insensitivity that was showed towards me. Original post: My primary care, chronic pain, mental health and now physical therapist have all stated they canโ€™t help me because I am a woman veteran and that unfortunately they donโ€™t treat many of us. This is the only healthcare I can currently receive due to my military caused disabilities. SHAME ON YOU VA HEALTHCARE

This place is a joke, and they do not understand veterans. They act like they really don't care, do not take any sort of accountability for their mistakes whatsoever and they stink at communicating. I am always disappointed when I go there. I feel like I do not have much say about my own health or the quality of healthcare they provide. A re-evaluation of the whole organization is VERY NECESSARY.

I've had multiple horrible experiences with this VA. I stopped in to receive stitches and waited roughly 5 hours before getting up and driving to another location. The operators have thrown me back into the call menu or hung up on me before I can ask my question. I can see why the Phoenix VA has the reputation of being the worst VA in the nation. A VA in Missouri accidentally infected 1800 veterans with HIV yet this place still has the reputation for being the worst.

The VA provides medical & Rx coverage for my husband. m I have found that the VA covers many specialty services which might cost extra in most medical plans. Appointments here don't rush him through, the doctors are thorough. He's not just a number, he's a person. Camaraderie with other veterans of all ages & branches of service is another important factor which also contributes to health. This is large organization. Most services run smoothly but every now & then something does slip through the cracks. When this happens you need to be proactive about your health & follow up. Report the difficulty to your doctor. I'm sure this must be very frustrating for patients who are alone & not feeling well.

Poor follow up., medical assistance to say they are doctors and try to diagnose your problem. takes too long to get into see a specialist or even a doctor. Always sending you to a nurse practitioner or a PA or an MA. If military hospitals are run this poorly they be out of business I highly recommend using your own daughter if you have insurance.

The staff at Carl Hayden med center are the most polite and friendly people I've ever seen in a hospital. Everyone, cashiers, maintenance and officers from phx. P.D. , all stop and say good morning, can I help you, how are you, have a good day. Every one we encountered was polite and friendly. Can't say the same of Tempe or Scottsdale hosp., even Mesa and Maricopa county hospitals are full of "grumpy" people. Visitors are invisible to them. V.A. was exception, only one I've seen in 45+ years. Good on you guys at Carl Hayden.

I drove around for an hour looking for a parking spot and called the Amisty Clinic twice to make sure I was still ok to come to my appointment. The lady told me I was still ok to come in and to call her if I changed my mind.I told her that I would drive around a bit more to see if something comes available. The lady didnโ€™t tell me that they couldnโ€™t see me until I finely made it to thier front desk. Then she asked me if I wanted to come back the next day for an appointment. Why in the H$// would I want to come back tomorrow and go through this again. Why didnโ€™t the lady tell me 30 min ago that I would have to reschedule my apt. I hate this place,,

Moved here two months ago and have had the worst experience with my primary care doctor and her nurse practitioner. They don't listen to what I'm telling them, talk over me and ask the same question to get the same answer I already gave them. They have very poor attitudes and bedside manor. I'm not getting the healthcare I need to work on my medical issues. Complained to the patient advocates office to have him ask me what I wanted him to do with my complaint since in his words it didn't warrant investigating. I can ask the same question three different people and get three very different usually incorrect answers. I signed a blank check up to and including death when I joined the Army. I became service connected for disabilities in 2006. Our nation's Veterans deserve the excellent healthcare they were promised. If a medical professional in the VA can't offer the level of service Veterans deserve, then they need to be replaced with someone who cares. I've had excellent care at every facility I've been to except the Phoenix VA. Everyone here seems to pass the buck and push you off on someone else so they don't have to take the time to listen and help you get things sorted out or to give Veterans the service they deserve.

Wow!! Unbelievably rude operator. There was an emergency situation for a veterans whose physician asked to call the pharmacy intake. The veteran was told out and out, โ€œThe pharmacy absolutely hates talking to veterans. I will be in trouble if I transfer you.โ€ So basically, the pharmacists at the VA do not like speaking with veterans. Go figure.

The staff is usually amazing here, but as s female combat veteran it's horrible that I have to drive to Phoenix hospital for a female clinic. I live extremely close to the Gilbert clinic but can't be seen because no provider can do a female exam..... I feel this is far from convenient or fair. And ridiculous part is the female clinic won't deal with your other problems at the same time. Little confused how these is great patient care. Think this system needs more restructuring.

Caution Veterans! My experience with the Phoenix VA Cardiology department (Diamond Clinic) has been deeply troubling and raises serious concerns about the quality of care provided. I presented with severe cardiac issues, including 'cold and wet' low-output heart failure and cardiogenic shock, which were confirmed by multiple objective tests and recognized by other agencies and entities. Apparently, such is "normal" to these fools. The (lack of) diagnosis and treatment provided by the Phoenix VA cardiologists were not only inadequate but also delayed for years, causing my condition to worsen. The cardiologists seemed dismissive of my condition, even when supported by other specialists. Based on my experience, I feel compelled to warn fellow veterans with complex conditions, such as ME/CFS, GWI, or any other MUCMI with cardiac complications, to exercise extreme caution when seeking care at the Phoenix VA Cardiology department. Your well-being may be at risk, and it is advisable to explore other healthcare options for your own safety. I would start by finding an ME/CFS specialist if you have a manifestation of a Medically Unexplained Chronic Multisymptom Illness (MUCMI).

I am beyond upset with this site. I have never experienced such discrimination. I'm a phlebotomy student and was all set to do my externship at this site and after submitting all my required paperwork me thinking I was all set to go went down to my school to ask like why I have not received certain emails pertaining to my extern site. My career advisor was like I don't know I've been contacting the guy trying to see what the holdup is. so, she placed a call to ask why I was being denied into the program. and I was told the reason was based solely on my US citizenship. like it had nothing to do with my academic standing which is excellent nothing but A's only one B or any other qualifying factor it was solely based on my citizenship. I am a DACA recipient and have an employment authorization card so there should be no issue on whether or not I'm legally allowed to seek employment in the US. which I am. the guy that we spoke to was like it's not that I'm discriminating but we have to give priority to US citizens. Perhaps the VA should educate their employees on EEO standard which clearly state that you cannot deny employment based on national origin or citizenship status. According to the guy I would not be immediately disqualified from the program based on my citizenship but would have to jump through additional hoops and that would just not be practical. Mind you as part of the application process I was asked to submit only acceptable documentation and submit to a background check and drug test and complete a four-hour long course that I had to do twice because it didn't save my progress the first time. After I did all this, I was denied simply because of discrimination. I do hope that this man treats all the VA patients he may come in contact with, with a little more respect than he did me and God forbid you're a minority around this guy or take too much of his time because it would just not be practical.

My husband had a procedure done & my daughter drove us there. We had planned to go downstairs to the cafeteria but we were talking & never even made it there. We were there about 3 hours. I always have a warm sweater with me cuz it can get chilly up on the top floor. The Dr called us in & explained everything to us & told us he would get his results in 10 days but it was a month ago & he still has not heard. Guess no news is good news. The VA hospital on 7th St. Is kept very, very clean. I have heard about complaints but we have NEVER had any bad experiences at all & he has been going there the last 20 years.

My father-in-law was visiting from out of state, and shortly after his arrival, he felt out of sorts. We took him to the Phoenix VA hospital for help. He was quickly seen and admitted for a suspected heart attack. Unfortunately, Phoenix VA hospital was unable to perform a necessary test/procedure for 3 days. Thank goodness they quickly transferred him to another hospital for that procedure. A 3-day wait likely would have been MUCH too late, since it was discovered that one artery was 100% blocked and a second was 90% blocked. He quickly received 2 stents. A third artery was also partially blocked, but could not be addressed the same day. We needed the Phoenix VA to communicate & coordinate with both the other local hopsital as well as my father-in-law's home VA clinic for approval to have the third artery addressed by the same doctor at the same facility. Luckily, they came through for us. Although my father-in-law did not receive a full range of care at the Phoenix VA, we are most thankful for their quick thinking and efficient administrative processes to help get him on his feet before his trip back home. The Phoenix VA hospital played a significant role in saving his life, and we are beyond grateful.

WARNING!!! The worst VA Hospital I've ever dealt with. I've had extensive problems with a few Drs and NP's there. The pharmacy has a huge hold time to talk to someone over the phone. Over and hour and over 50-70 people on hold in front of me. I'm part of a veterans group at the VA. Every single patient from this VA had the same complaints when this large group spoke about this. Google how the Phoenix VA actually killed patients with the terrible things their staff did ON PURPOSE. It was nationwide FRONT PAGE news several years ago. A lot of veterans died because of things done that will shock you. Again...it was front page news nationwide.

From signing up for Veterans Services in Nov '22 to having to be hospitalized for surgery now, Feb '23. I have been amazed at the level of care and concern by all staff and volunteers I've encountered. Now 1 week after surgery, still hospitalized, I am AWED by the Doctors and Nurses and the care, concern and professionalism; right to room trash collectors. I'm 68 yrs old an unfortunately have had to have medical care before. These folks go above and beyond.

Iโ€™ve been receiving virtually all my care their since 1997. The care by doctors and nurses, and therapists has been fantastic; no complaints in that area. My only problem is with their phone system, and a poorly run call center. You are frequently transferred to the wrong clinic. Hold wait times are very excessive. Itโ€™s impossible to leave a voicemail. Letโ€™s see, I called in at 330 and was transferred to the call center when I asked for community care. I was placed on hold. I got an announcement that I was caller 2 with a wait time of 3 minutes. Then I was informed I was caller 1 with a wait time of 13 minutes! HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN?

Very friendly stuff . God Bless them. I was able to have pleasant conversation with other veterans about our duty stations wish them a Happy Thanksgiving. I worked in the Medical field many 33 years now it's my turn to be taken care of. God and family are watching from above. Read a beautiful book called Heaven is for real it will open your eyes to Gods wonders in heaven. Thank VA Staff and Doctors God Bless you all.Shalom. Gods peace to all.

I hadnโ€™t gone here in about ten years, even after the scandal they had the care is still horrible and youโ€™re better off going somewhere else.

Practitioners are more concerned with perpetuating their own bureaucratic processes than actually providing care to veterans. Iโ€™m disillusioned by the disingenuous interactions and poor character of some of the staff of this institution.

I recently went to the VA having chest pain and it was the middle of the week earlier in the morning so they were not busy. I was seen within a half hour, they ran tests took x-rays all the nurses, xray staff, and the Dr. were very nice and answered all my questions. I do think that everyone's specific situation is of course different but my experience was great, I was out of the ER in approx 2 1/2 hours with a panic/ indigestion mix as a diagnosis heart all good!!

I'm actually on my 8th call, each person giving me erroneous information! Right now I have a 20 minute hold for the next available agent! This is the worst system in America run through Cisco. The reps, the supervisors are miserable and know nothing!

I know a lot of people have their opinions about the VA system. I came into the ER. Thinking I had a very serious issue. Right away the check-in nurse was very friendly and checked me in right away. Then they took my vitals and asked me why I was here. After I explained, he wanted me to sit in a wheelchair just in case, which was pretty cool. Doctor came in nurse came in and a medical student. We talked over my issue right away. They initiated an IV. Drew blood and sent me to go get a scan. They checked on the checked in on me from time to time to make sure I was comfortable and if I needed anything. Once the scans came back, the doctor suggested a few things got me what I needed and sent me on my way. They were all friendly and professional. So this time my visit to the ER was excellent.

The compassionate people are few and far between. The nurses especially Brenda on 2C and John the Desk Secretary on 2C were heartless. Coldest care provided for end of life treatment. Absolutely heartbreaking how our Veterans are treated.

If you are an active duty dependent you are NOT welcome to the ER. I couldnโ€™t find anything on the website stating as such, butโ€ฆ. Whatever Er staff is horribly rude. Was recommend by banner Estrella MAs who are prior military and told me to take my daughter here because we are a military family. Said we would get seen faster and we would definitely get seen. Show up before we can even say anything the lady goes are you military so rudely. I was so taken back at how cold she was I showed her the id card that was in my hand before I even walked in the building. Then I say we were sent her and they were like oh is your daughter military we only see military only not dependents. We donโ€™t have the resources. Both ladies were just so incredibly rude. They had one older man and a woman with a child waiting. a hospital emergency room (ER) and requests care, the hospital is obligated by federal law to provide an โ€œappropriate medical screening.โ€ They in fact did not provide any care or screening. Yes this involves Medicare but the verbiage is clear they must be screened. Am I wrong in thinking you attract talent with growth. Busy means more money and more funding for hiring staff. Iโ€™m in PA school and I had this place on my list but canโ€™t feel great about the fact they have such rude staff. We would have to work shoulder to shoulder. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Doctors are great parking and everything else is lacking. If youโ€™re not there by 8:30am you will not have parking and this not make your appointment.

Just a thought...if the Dr is running two hours late with seeing the first patient and your number four how about calling the other patients and telling them to hold off so they can do other things instead of just waiting.

My dad recently had surgery and had to stay one night in the ICU. Our family was highly impressed with not only the customer service but the knowledge of all of the staff. His doctor, Dr. Wang, and his vascular team kept us updated on everything we needed to know. His ICU nurse, Simona, was a gem. We are extremely happy with the care my dad received. Kudos to this medical center!

This is a busy place. There is parking around the building, but it's usually full. Their parking garage always has space, but it's a bit of a walk to get anywhere from there. If walking is difficult, try to get someone to drive you to the building and drop you off. They do have golf carts to shuttle people around. If you need one, maybe call and ask about that. There's also Lyft, but that costs $. The staff are great, so treat them well.

Recently brought my father in law to the VA ER... They got him in quickly and the doctors and nurses were spectacular! Kind, caring, helpful and responsive. He had to be transferred to another hospital, and they went above and beyond to find a hospital that would be able to provide the care he needed. I can't say enough great things for the staff here.

Edit: wrong place for first time. Staff were professional and courteous. Wish the smoking areas were more visible but... Hey... The street is right there. Felt safe due to the prevention measures for covid :) At the main building now. === original === Preliminary review. Had a good experience the last time I was here. ...but, I dont want to come in as if I were giving a 1 star to my uber driver while still in the car. Hoping for the best. Heard things have changed for the better since even before my first time. Hope they are the best! :)

This was a really good thing to see so close to where I may request my father move to. Walking throughout there's a great pride in just each person I came in contact with. Eye was impressed eye didn't need medical care so that I can't speak on. Only Son of a Marine

Beware veterans, The VA website says during an Emergency a veteran should seek care at the closest ER facility and that no ER visit will be denied. This is False my claim was denied. and now I owe thousands. Beware.

Ricardo Luna โ€œLike the Moonโ€ gets 5 stars, not the VAHCS. Ricardo helped me yesterday get a piece of paper that could have been mailed to me, but I was instructed to go to the VA itself. Of course, when I got there, no one knew anything about the procedure I was instructed to follow. Ricardo Luna stepped up and deserves to be recognized as a hero. Even if he never served in the military, that man deserves to be working amongst, and helping other veterans. Thanks Ricardo.

If there was a means to rate lower than a single star, I would be using that option! The Phoenix VA Medical Center used to be an award winning VA Hospital, worthy of praise and adulation. Since 2010 the hospital has been going downhill. Long wait times, inefficiency, petty authoritarians, and entrenched bureaucracy plague this VA like no other VA Medical Center in America. I know, because I have visited the majority of them.

I have been super happy with my care and the medical staff at the Phoenix VA, but the management of patient flow really needs attention. The facility is very large and on a visit last week, a friend of mine was sent to 3 different places to get a CT scan, including a visit to the wrong CT department. This took much longer than it should have as not enough resources were available to help transport someone with a newly replaced hip, and the places he was sent to were far apart and on different floors. Parking tip: Parking is very tight, and it helps if you can arrange to have someone drop you off right at the door. Then they can go wait in one of the many nearby cafes, or explore the adjacent Steele Indian School Park.

Today I had to go in for a biopsy. I went to interventional radiology. I had Dr bumbus and some great nurses. I had Maria and Shannon. They were so thorough, professional, and caring. They went over all to the information and made sure I understood everything. They gave me a warm blanket. I am happy to see great people with caring hearts working so hard. I'd also like to give a shout out to Dr Dennis at the Southeast VA for listening to me and being there. Dr Metzler is my GI doctor. She is amazing. Has great suggestions to help me get better and tracks progress. Thanks for getting in these great individuals. The VA could not survive without them.

I've been going to the Phoenix VA for several years. I have always been treated very well. The nurses are great and the doctors know what they are doing. I want to thank everyone in Podiatry,(Dr. Ellsworth/Dr. Learner and crew), vascular (Dr. Helpern and grew), amputee clinic (Dr.Iyamo and crew), eye clinic ( Dr. Bill Gitchel and grew). All of you are fantastic. I don't want to forget my friends at Cardiology and Pacemaker Clinic. Also, the emergency room doctors and nurses are phenomenal! All of these clinics have been instrumental in saving my life. I am very greatful to have been taken care of by the "best of the best!" Sincerely, Paul G. Payson Arizona
