Recently moved to a more spacious location in the same complex. Definitely an upgrade from the old spot and an excellent place to catch RuPaul viewing parties. If you call in advance they tell you that they don't take reservations, however, when you get there, all the seats nearest the big screen are reserved. 4 out of 5.

We've been going here since moving from FL last year and I actually posted a good review here before bc we have always had a great time with the drag shows, karoeke, and the bartenders. Last thursday, the lady checking ID's had an attitude bc we didn't have a reserved table. Made us feel we were second class citizens and she was doing us the favor by letting us in.Then she decided to put us on "timeout" by telling us, "you're limited to the bar, and now you can go in and HOP on the bar you go". We've gone on tues/wed and mostly fri/sat and never has this happened. Does Kobalt think that on Thursdays everyone that doesn't have a reservation is so stupid to never have encountered table reservation before and need to be educated on its protocol or is this the attitude of just this show?? Having grown up going with the top international clubs in NY, Orlando, Vegas and South Florida, I wonder where Kobalt on thursday night thinks they stand? Although I prefer Sazerac, my husband loves the drag shows and bartenders, so we'll skip thursdays and continue to go on other nights. Hope we don't find this attitude ever again.

My favorite watering hole. I return to Kobalt time and time again, preferring it to the others. There are many good reasons. The traditional cocktails are made well. However the bar staff are quick to create concoctions for the curious. The marvelous bartenders and waitstaff consistently provide excellent service and they make me feel welcome. Kat and Ryan (the dears!) are especially stellar. They even know how to make a proper boulevardier! Kobalt management is lucky to have them. Excellent drinks provided with good friendly service in a fabulous ambience - isn't this the bottom line for a bar? I give Kobalt five stars.

I've been here twice and both times the bartenders (specifically Kat) were nice, funny, and helpful (I never know what to get to drink!). The DJ is kind and will help you find the right song if you cannot think of a good one. The music is fun and the people are extremely supportive. I am *not* a good singer, but everyone cheers and sings along to support every singer. It is a great experience and I fully recommend this bar for everyone! The outdoor area is comfy while indoors is cool with plenty of seating for a small area. The bathrooms are spotless and comfortable. There is no negativity in this place, so go try it and you won't regret it!

I haven’t been here in a few years but was very happy to come back. It’s a very clean location, Abel is very friendly and helpful. The decor is very nice as well. Happy with the experience and look forward to coming back soon!

I came for my 21st birthday Wednesday night, we told the bartender it was my 21st birthday so obviously I’m not going to have a horizontal ID but he made the comment “I hope you have the right ID hun” like again that’s applicable. When I opened my wallet to present my ID that states I’m under 21 until 8/23/2023, he saw it was vertical and told me he couldn’t serve us, didn’t check my ID to verify my age or anything. My friend recently left a review pertaining the matter and received a response that “I’m sure this instance was just an oversight.” He didn’t check MY ID AT ALL. An Arizona resident who turns 21 and has a vertical ID has 30 days to use it to buy alcohol. But once those 30 days are over, the law requires businesses to reject the vertical license. Doesn’t mean reject the vertical the same day they turn 21. I understand if the bar in general won’t accept vertical IDs regardless if you’re 21 but as my friend stated that policy is wack. Especially if it’s valid for 30 days post birthday.

The drag show was A+. Also, everyone was so welcoming and nice it made for a wonderful time. The atmosphere is fun and engaging. There were alot of people enjoying their time here.

So MUCH FUN! I went for Bear night, a Megawoof event, and it was marvelous! I hope they do it again. I would urge to hire more bar staff if possible for these large events but I know short staffing is a problem these days. They were very nice as the night went on.

I get it, it's a bar they make money selling liquor. I prefer not liquor, ordered a coke. Tiny glass maybe 10 ounce if that price $3.25 ok it's a bar. Asked for a refill oh we charge $3.25 for the refill too "per the owner"she claimed. Was there last month and was well taken care of. Will not go back will not spend another penny there, will tell everyone not to bother going there.

Best dance music I’ve heard since moving to AZ from Chicago in 2013 that is still open. Went on a Sunday early afternoon during PHX Pride. My girlfriends and I sat on the nice patio couches and just had a ball. We’ll be back because we like to dance and the Prickly Pear Margarita was so delicious and strong too. Straight ladies that love music and happy people that don’t judge. When can I hear some Frankie Knuckles, Ralf Gum or Louis Vega style mixes with some Martha Wash , Barbara Tucker, Lisa Shaw??? Please and thank you, you would make my decade.

One of my favorite bars in Phoenix! The expansive patio is great to relax on and for friends to gather. The events are varied and always fun! I especially enjoy Patrick's comedy hour on Wednesday nights. The staff is so friendly! Special thank you to Rachel, Tyler, Aaron, Rich, Chance, Abel and everyone else that works there for always being so welcoming. Kobalt really supports its community too - sponsoring inclusive sports teams, fundraisers for drag performers, etc. And the drinks are well-priced!

It was my friends 21st birthday yesterday night and the bartender with glasses didn’t want to serve us. Immediately said “I hope you have the right ID hun” like we just didn’t tell him she just turned 21 that day so that wouldn’t be possible. Their policy is wack and by law in Arizona your ID is valid for 30 days after you turn 21 so just don’t go here for your 21st birthdays go to Westgate lol

This was my first time to the new and improved Kobalt. It is definitely a lot larger with more room to mingle and the events are bigger and better than ever. However, it's just not the same Kobalt that I loved and remembered. I'm not a huge fan of larger bars, as they tend to be clicky and full of rude patrons. Never had an issue with the service but sadly I won't frequent this place as often as I'd like to... Good luck to Kobalt and here's to many years of success!

Went for a drag show, an experience in itself 😆 bartenders was outstanding, atmosphere was more than jovial!!! Everyone was there to support their friends and have a good time. Good parking (got there early), Bathrooms clean, crowded but not overly, you could still move or dance. It was a fun experience.

I love this place they don’t serve food but it says you can bring outside food so that’s nice. Also the karaoke is amazing with so many different songs. My mic died but I will be back.

Kobalt has a romantic up beat feel on the inside and a festive patio area on the outside. The patio has a variety of seating with an outdoor bar which serves any social gathering. On the inside Kobalt has a full stage where you can sing your heart out at Karaoke with friends. Kobalt has a large screen for entertaining and special events. The indoor bar has a modern design with upbeat, knowledgeable and professional bartenders and servers to make your evening a special one. Over all, Kobalt is a classy place where friends or lovers can have a relaxing evening making the memories to remember.

It may not be the greatest place for karaoke in drag, but it's pretty good. Would return even if my singing would likely kill small woodland creatures and get me 86d. Great time.

You never take cancer lightly. I am a survivor and this is nothing that should be brought into comedy. Worst experience I have ever had at this bar. How dare a comedian make light of something that is killing me and others in our community. Bad taste is an understatement! The comedy night performers need to be screened for their content better before being put on the stage.

Make sure you don't come here unless you have a reservation or table even if it's a weekday. I came here on a Tuesday night but was told I couldn't go inside or buy drinks from the bar without a reservation.

The lady checking ID’s last night, extremely rude to multiple customers. Not sure how the experience was inside because after watching her for 3-5min we decided to leave. She gave one customer “the hold on finger”, almost simultaneously another customer waiting to exit let himself out from the rope and she grabbed at his shirt. Not to mention the whole ID situation she had going on was just way to much. She argued with everyone about anything using the excuse “i’m new” there is a difference between needing a bit more time and being rude.

Staff are awesome. Owner is friendly. Patio is dog friendly. If the patio was smoke-free, I'd be there several times a week.

Cool joint. The drag show was different... Some traditional drag queens and some non-drag male (not kings) performers. Was just kinda eh for them. Well priced drinks, decent service, not too packed. Would definitely return. Kareoke was fun afterwards... Very judge free.

Last night, July 29th, I attended Drag, Divas, and Dudes! It was my first time at the establishment. Staff was AMAZING!!! Kat, I am sorry that was my first and last time seeing you, but, you were amazing and so helpful. There was a gentleman, I didn't catch his name, who chose the PERFECT table for me to see the show...right where the performers came on the stage!!! I plan on being back in the future.

Love it. Go for their comedy night. They always have fantastic comedians.

Love Kobalt, especially on Trivia Tuesdays with Anastasia! Trivia is always fun and the drinks are inexpensive with food nearby to order and bring in. Other events there are also fun - it’s never a dull time at Kobalt!

Great place to have dinner, appetizers or drinks before the Hollywood Bowl (as we did). Also really swank atmosphere and really great food. We dined outside where it was pretty romantic and very cool! This is my 'go to' restaurant for a night out!

Best karaoke experience I've ever had. The sound was exquisite! The stage had proper lighting and a runway. And the quality of the singers was amazing.

Cirque Du So Trey is the absolute best drag show in the valley. Always a great time, great service and affordable drinks! Definitely a must try experience!

Had a great time at karaoke on Saturday. The host, I forget his name, was very kind (tall, shaved head, beard). Great guy. One star off for the female bartender who was a cold fish. She was kind of short with me and grumpy. Overall had a great time. Thank you.

I sat at the bar during karaoke night. I don’t enjoy karaoke as a general rule but was in town and wanted something to do. They had a good group and I even ended up enjoying some of the less terrible karaoke singers. DJ was kinda soft spoken but wasn’t really playing music… just karaoke so not a good gauge. It was cool the night I was there so I sat inside but the patio looks great for groups of friends. Had a few beers and left. Service was very good… can’t say enough good about the staff.

Went for the Cirque de So Trey show (about my 4th time), & it's so fun! Love the atmosphere & always have a great time. Love the espresso martinis. 🙂

Went to Kobalt to support a friend on their first performance in the Queer Agenda show. It was only my second time attending this kind of event but first time attending one of this caliber. HIGHLY entertaining!!! Bennadiction & Astrud (hope I spelled those correctly) made me laugh SO HARD with their banter & both were GORGEOUS!! I could not take my eyes off of them!! The whole line-up was incredible. Including the four newbies on the scene. I plan on attending again soon & bringing others. Only downfall is Kobalt has limited seating. So, the smart thing to do is get a VIP table. But if you can't & there's not enough room inside, there are several screens in the patio area so you won't miss a thing! Plenty of parking within a short walk of Kobalt & The Queer Agenda is only one event among many that Kobalt hosts. So, take your pick of any night of the week for some great entertainment.

They had one bartender and at least 50 people in the bar but he absolutely killed it. I wish I got his name. It was a Saturday, they were hosting big gay Bingo which was so fun and he made the best vodka gimlet I've ever had.

Wow $20 for 3 beers, since when? On a Wednesday night? Because I've come to a Froday night and had 6 drinks for $26....hmmmmmm

Great place for drinks went here to support the Phoenix Gay Flag Football League. It was a drag show going on that I really didn’t care for but the drinks were pretty good.

Love the space but it was dying down once we were coming on. We took off pretty quick but the drink service was quick and customer centric while there.

It's always freezing during the winter. It's literally 49 degrees out but they keep all the windows and doors open. I have to go to my car and warm up. Guess they can freeze while I avoid spending money on a bar tab.

Fantastic drag show! The drinks were overly sweet though. Hard to make the two drink minimum with cocktails. Stick with beer. It is safe.

Felt completely unwelcomed in this bar. The owner, Jeff, was aggressive toward my husband and I after being in his establishment for 5 minutes. Didn’t even have the opportunity to get a drink before being approached by the owner. It’s so unfortunate because we’ve been going to Kobalt for the past six year. Before they moved into their current spot, we supported them when they were a tiny karaoke bar. I’ve also held company events here and gone out of my way to bring them business. The staff is great, Kat is amazing...The owner is sad and lost.

The qr code doesn't work for karaoke app is slow please allow ppl to just right there names on a clip board or to verbally go up to you and request said song with out being told we have a qr code we don't do that here

Great place, very inclusive and their drinks are really good! I recommend the Mango Situation. The drag shows are great too! We came to watch Follies for the first time and loved it!

Had such a great night here for a bachelorette party! Amazing performances, lots of interaction with the whole crowd, great prices… I could go on and on! The owner and staff members were all very nice and super accommodating. Highly recommend!

Such a great pleasure being welcomed here, being new to the area. Everyone here is so kind, attentive, and it feels like one big happy community.

A friendly place and especially good when Kenny Thames and the Messengers are there to provide live music (one Wednesday night a month - check the website). Drinks are reasonably priced and staff is super friendly. Check the website for other events like karaoke nights.

And London! If you haven't heard her sing you've missed Some great talent on par with Amy Winehouse but unique. Good times were had by all. If you get a chance go to see this fun Talented group

Went on a Tuesday night for karaoke. I liked that it wasn't crowded. I met a nice gay couple here and sat with them 'til closing time. This place has a really nice setup. I had a good time. I would be back again.

Entered near ten, it was not crowded. I look forward to a return visit. Food is similar to a place in San Francisco I liked.

As someone who does not do dairy, one would not think that this would be a place that would be so accommodating. But alas Kobalt has come thru in the clutch. We loved everything that we had. The bacalao balls, the scallop with Uni, that bourbon selection. Just had a great experience.

Had a great time. My first time in a gay bar. The drag show entertaining and The drinks were fairly priced. The only issue I saw was there didn’t seem to be any security and while only one issue arose it could have been handled better. Other then that, excellent spot.
