(Translated by Google) Walk out from Sanam Chai MRT to the entrance. Admission fee for adults is 100 baht. Inside is not wow (Maybe because we are Thai and familiar with these things) But conveys a 100% Thai style It is beautiful, it is really unique in presentation in Thai style. I like it. Take photos and enjoy it, each corner is beautiful. 🥰 Recommend foreigners to visit Definitely not disappointed (Original)

Visited in 11 June 2022. The museum is housed in a big campus and plenty of food & drink options were available. We witness a music band performance. Museum Siam was established in 2008 to be a model for a modern learning centre. By presenting the story of Thais from past to present through the combination of media and a variety of technologies which is considered to help enhance the education of Thai people. Especially the visitors who are in their childhood and youth will have the opportunity to learn Thai History creatively. The Museum consists of 3 parts including a permanent exhibition, rotating exhibition and creative learning activities.

Museum Siam is an absolute gem for anyone eager to delve into the rich tapestry of Thai history, food, and culture. The exhibits offer a fascinating journey through the various epochs, providing an immersive understanding of the country's vibrant heritage. One standout feature is the opportunity to dress up in traditional Thai clothing. It's not just about putting on garments; it's an interactive experience that transports you to another time. The chance to take pictures in these authentic outfits adds an extra layer of joy to the visit – creating memories that go beyond the typical museum experience. The museum doesn't stop at history; it seamlessly integrates Thai cuisine into its narrative. The culinary section is a delightful exploration of flavors, showcasing the diverse and delectable aspects of Thai food. It's not just informative; it's an opportunity to see thai food come to live with their interactive plates. A unique and memorable aspect of Museum Siam is the opportunity to experience Thai school life. Dressed in traditional Thai school uniforms, visitors get a taste of the educational system, gaining insights into the daily lives of Thai students. This interactive component adds a dynamic dimension to the museum visit, making it both educational and entertaining. You can get a audio machince tour guide. The audio is recorded in different languages. Museum Siam is more than just a collection of artifacts – it's a living, breathing narrative of Thailand's past and present. Museum Siam is a must-visit for anyone seeking a comprehensive understanding of Thailand. Whether you're a history buff or simply looking for a unique and enjoyable outing, this museum offers a captivating blend of education and entertainment. Dressing up, exploring the culinary delights, and experiencing Thai school life make it an immersive adventure that lingers in your memory long after you leave.

The night museum festival is ongoing in Bangkok, yeay! From 15-24 December. And Museum Siam is my first visited museum in this city. And I think this museum will be a good choice. I love the architecture, the park in the backyard, the educational materials, and all the helpful staffs.

Small enough to enjoy without getting tired of walking, although the stairs can be quite a hassle. Nice collections, very light but still providing nice intro to Thai modern culture. The temporary exhibit about the lottery in Thailand is quite interesting with a complete information dated back in king Rama all the way to the recent history and how it impact society.

What is "Thai-ness" or to be Thai? This fun interactive museum explores that question and shares many experiences that create modern Thailand. Set in a large historical building, you can wander in and out of galleries on multiple floors. Most every gallery has interactive components from comparing Thai foods mounted in bowls on the wall, to sitting at school desks while a video teacher at the front of the classroom teaches Thai writing. A number of the exhibits were popular culture based from animated characters to street fashion. Entry fee and audio tour earphone collection is on the ground floor, exhibits are on floors 2 and 3. After your tour, wander the grounds around the museum, there is a nice cafe tucked in the back corner that serves coffee and drinks, is a great place to sit under the trees, and also contains some interesting artifacts and photos.

Terrific!!! And aimed at the young minds that like to explore push buttons and see the world in a different way. A modern museum that was designed to engage the senses. Also, being very conveniently right on top of MRT station Sanam Chai does help a great deal, entrance fees of 100THB per adult / person will get you in. The exhibit starts on the 3rd floor. Working its way down to the second and eventually the 1st (ground) floor. A must for families that have kids that like to touch, pull poke and explore!

Very well organised museum in a beautiful colonial style building featuring Thainess and other exhibition. The exhibitions here are well designed and artsy. The place is clean and educational. Staff is well trained and friendly. Atmosphere was good and somewhat nostalgic for Thais. Worth a visit...

First timer here to the Museum Siam. The place is easily accessible by MRT, exiting at Sanam Chai via exit 1. It costs 100THB for the ticket (without audio guide). Was in awe with the building and garden. The exhibition starts on the 2nd floor and offers interactive activity throughout. The staffs were also really helpful. The exhibit show the origin of Thainess as well as the history of Thailand in a very interesting way. There is also a photo studio at the end of the exhibit. Don’t forget to get coin souvenirs and merchandise from the Museum Shop.

Cool place to spend time with friends and learning about Thailand in modern style. Interesting exhibition about fast fashion and they always keep changing, I assume. The section where they explained history of Thailand are quite creative! Many fun activities to do. They also have backdrops and traditional clothes for you to tried and take pictures.

Many have posted about the museum and their exhibits. I wanted to point out that on the 2nd floor of their office next to the parking lot, there is a tiny but peaceful knowledge center/library worth checking out. The place looks overall quite new, plenty of comfortable space and their book selections are mainly on Thai/Asian history and museum management. Bangkok generally lacks good public libraries so it was a joy to visit such place. Hope they continue to get support.

Great museum! Did an excellent job of sharing what "Thai-ness" is about, something almost every visitor to Thailand is curious about. The exhibition had a good balance between the historical, the traditional, and the modern. It even featured the history of Thai cuisine. Fun visit!

Museum Siam is Thailand's first discovery museum. Museum of Siam was designed to be a fun and interactive learning space, raising the bar for education in Thailand. This is especially true for the country's youth. It's where people can grow in self-awareness through learning about themselves, their communities, and the wider world. The goal of developing a "brand-new notion and image" of a museum in a learning society through the use of cutting-edge tools and imaginative programming is to make studying the past more engaging and pleasurable for its visitors. Main Exhibition, Special Exhibitions, and Imaginative Learning Activities Make Up the New Learning

The Museum Siam, I must say, was a truly delightful experience. It exudes a contemporary and pop vibe that sets it apart from the more traditional Museum, yet it doesn't compromise on the wealth of information it offers. Conveniently situated right above the MRT station, it couldn't be more accessible. The staff, a friendly and amiable bunch, added to the overall positive experience. All in all, it's a fantastic place to dive into the world of modern Thai culture and gain insights into the evolution of "Thainess."

A cool interactive museum about what it means to be Thai and what "thainess" is. A very interesting modern exposition, where both children and adults hang out for 2-2.5 hours for sure. Lots of details, thoughtful space, interesting interaction with the exhibits! We had a great time, we didn't want to leave. Excellent English audio guide. Friendly service! Totally recommend 🫶🏻

Wonderful interactive exhibition for those who want to better understand Thailand and what being Thai means. My visit lasted about 3 hours and I enjoyed my time there very much. Almost every room got my attention and gave me the information I wanted. Before leaving the museum, I bought the book of the exhibition because it is very well done as the exhibition itself.

A small peaceful place to spend a relaxing afternoon. You can learn about some details of thai culture in daily life and just chill on the grass. Sometimes it has free admission day. It will be a good rest spot during walking exploring around palace and temples.

Museum Siam is 100% recommended . My family really enjoyed learning about the past and the culture of Thailand. If you want to take your family or class or friends with you it is a special place to visit. My favourite room was the dress up room because I had fun dressing up in Thai clothes and we took so many photos. I think you should go for a half day at least to get to see the museum in detail. It’s not like normal Museum because you get free audio description but not only that you have a challenge to solve. I hope you enjoy your visit to Museum Siam.

This is the showcase museum of what is being Thai. The original building had been the Department of Commerce and was transformed to be the museum. This building has three stories which is able to access by escalators and stairs of the both wing. The grand middle stair is not allowed for regular use. The rest rooms are very clean and available on every floor. This museum will bring you back in time of how Thailand was settled and what kinds of characteristics are Thai.

One of the most interactive museums i've ever been to. Staffs there a re super helpful. Ticket price is 100 baht but it's totally worth it. The museum is dedicated to introducing the thai culture and history and does so in a really interactive way. Loved the place. Went on a friday, wasn't crowded like other places of thailand. A must visit place in bangkok.

Some exhibits is interactive and throughout the Museum you get to learn more about Thai culture. They do have audio guides and lockers for people to use on the ground floor before starting on the 3rd floor. Each exhibit does have AC which was a great plus as we looked around and learned more about Thai culture. There are bathrooms and an elevator as well. There is also a show that going through Thai history that plays on the 3rd floor. In some exhibits there are like Thai school uniforms you can try on and take some pictures and another places where you can change the backdrop and have some accessories to take pictures as well on the second floor. There is a restaurant on the back of the Museum and a station right in front of it for easy access. I enjoyed the museum and while we were there it looks like they are working on another exhibit. For 100 baht it definitely was worth it and can definitely take your time learning about being Thai.

The museum was curated quite well on educating tourists of the topic of Thainess, but at the same time it definitely narrates a good sense of pride to the locals about being Thai. It's very interesting to see how Thais have been building their identity based on the pillars of - Nation, Religion, Monarchy. It's an extremely interactive museum that fits across all ages. They even have a costume fitting corner where both adults and kids can try out different Thai outfits. The museum shop is also well stocked, where you could stamp and customize postcards to be sent back home. After the visit we extended our stay, hanging out in front of the museum. The small wheeled cafes provided mats for you to use on the grass. It really is quite a vibe to be in. A must visit if you're in Bangkok!

Modern, fun, interactive & informative museum! I learnt a lot about ‘Thaism’ which left me feeling in awe of this beautiful country! Definitely worth a visit while in Bangkok. I hired headphones however didn’t end up using them - they were a bit chunky and outdated, everything is in English anyway & I visited with a Thai friend so we really didn’t need them. The information from the headphones would have probably offered more detail but I was happy enough with what was already on offer - up to you though. You have to hand in personal ID (passport, work permit, visa, drivers license etc) as a deposit which some people might feel uncomfortable about. While I’m at it, I would also recommend eating by the river afterwards. We visited Krua Khun Kung in the Navy Base (opposite The Grand Palace) which served fabulous food (oysters were huge, creamy & crunchy 😋) and very reasonably priced. Have fun!

I wondered if I would give the 500 real bankruptcy (he might hear us call and talk to my sister about asking to see the camera). I did not expect to see this spacious and green museum in the heart of Bangkok old city. There are many interesting things to see while the areas provide many large trees which is difficult to see in Bangkok. After the royal palace and wat Poe, this place is the relaxing section

Came here for the third time with my 6yo kids. Everytime we came, we would find some sections quite fun to explore and play. Displays are well exhibited in both thai and English. We like the Thai cooking and Thai tradition section the most this time. Staffs are very welcoming and attentive to explain us the information in each section. The souvenirs are very well designed too.

I see lots of negative criticism here, but I really enjoyed this visit. I recommand it for people who want to better understand what define « thainess » in history. Audioguide is unfortunately just an overview and doesn’t explain each item. From street food to religious beliefs, from simple things like « drinks in plastic bags » to the role of amulets for taxi drivers. If you know the book « Very Thai », then it’s the real life version. Fun place.

Other than the exhibitions, the staffs were great! They're so friendly and informative! This place is a must go because they have interesting and interactive exhibitions about Siam. Their location is just perfect. Just above an MRT station. The building was a royal palace so you can be a royalty for a day by visiting this museum.

Nice place. Excellent interactive multimedia. Bring back lots of memories. English explanation is available. Better to travel by MRT but you can park at the road in front of the museum until 4PM.

For the tourist, this place just shows you the Thainess. If you are interested in Thainess history, this place is a good choice for you. But if you are interested in art, I suggest that you should go to other place.

Highly interactive museum - a nice change from museums where you have to read a lot (although, i like those too), great for kids too im guessing. My friend (thai) thought there wasnt enough detail. I agree but thats the price to pay for the extra interactivity. If you want detail id suggest the national museum or, perhaps, read a book.

The Museum Siam (Siam Museum) is close to the BTS Sanam Chai station. It's wonderful to swing by and discover Thai historical stories. Many language audios are available for rental. The Arabic numerals are a little bit tiny to indicate  where you are. The remainder is well worth the journey.

A fascinating museum and recently renovated. A beautiful building with some clever and thoughtful displays and exhibition spaces. Staff members were helpful with pretty good English and an excellent shop with quality products. Highlights focused on Thai food, fashion, the origins and evolution of the Thai language and script, and repeated explanations of “Thainess”. If you’re in the area looking at Wat Phra Khaew (Grand Palace) and Wat Pho, then do take the time to wander the halls of this museum.

  • 5/5 Benjamin H. 1 year ago on Google
I really enjoyed my visit to this museum, the main exhibit is an exploration of 'Thainess' via food, culture, history, dress etc. The audio guide is free and takes you around each room of interactive exhibits that highlights a different factor in making Thailand Thailand. I would highly recommend, even if you aren't a fan of museums generally, as it is far from the traditional, looking at dusty items collected long ago, type of museum.

  • 5/5 Bella M. 1 year ago on Google
The ticket is 100 THB. For thai people, not sure how.much for The Foreigner. There's always an exhibition in front of the museum I love the idea of that. In the back of the museum also have the mini concert sometimes and also you can find some food and drink here. Inside a museum is different in each room you can learn about Thai history, Thai culture and Thai language. This is a cool place you must visit I recommend. Please do not go with the car is traffic jam and you can not find the car park easily you better take the MRT and drop of at Sanamchai Station Exist 1.

One of the best museums I've ever been to. Pay 100 BHT for a foreigner ticket and you get audio guide, costume to try on and take photos, and a mini-show about the history of Thai-ness (check the show's schedule on 3rd floor). The whole concept of the museum about defining what it means to be Thai is also super fascinating. A highly interactive museum that will be fun for both kids and adults.

Museum Siam is an impressive attraction located in a classical-style building that dates back to 1921. The recent renovation has resulted in a beautifully restored space. On the ground floor, there is a room dedicated to the history and construction of the building. The admission fee of 100 baht can be purchased online and there may be free entry during special events. The staff members are friendly and welcoming, offering me a brief overview of the museum upon arrival. Currently, the theme of the exhibition is "Decoding Thai-ness," which is both amusing and informative. The museum aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of Thai history, culture, and social concepts. The interactive props scattered throughout the exhibition offer visitors the opportunity to experiment with and explore Thai-ness firsthand. From opening drawers to trying on costumes and using light switches to reveal hidden displays, there is always something unexpected and exciting to discover in each room. The curators have clearly put a great deal of thought into the playful and engaging execution of the exhibition. I remembered having a good laugh upon learning what the world perceives Thai and how Thai people present themselves. Definitely a fantastic destination for both adults and children alike for it is an excellent educational resource. The experience of moving from room to room feels like a thrilling journey of discovery for me and I could see that in other people. I highly recommend visiting this museum to anyone interested in Thai culture, history, and social concepts.

Once you exit the station, the museum is located on the same compound. Was quite confused at first because I was searching for a signboard stating Museum Siam but couldn't find any, but it was the only building there (with a few groups having picnic at the area) so must be it. Locker & audio guide provided FOC. Someone at Level 2 reminded me that I need to start from Level 3, thankful for her reminder. Loving the interactivity used throughout all sections. Just somehow wished the numbering on the audio player and signboard tallies. Overall it was a good experience, won't take much of your time. Recommended!

we had an amazing time at the museum. you paid 100B for one ticket and got to see the culture of Thailand in many different ways, from the rich history, the food, the fashion to the many diverse festivals. we especially loved the room where we could play dress up in traditional Thai costumes. 5/5 recommend going.

We went here with our two kids (6&9) to start our Thailand trip and get an idea of what it means to be Thai. Super great interactive museum - 1.5 hrs interesting facts, easy accessible and fun. No history deep dive - but you get a good feeling of what the Thai identity is based on. Afterwards you can relax and grab a snack in the restaurant!

Pretty cool museum - really nice displays and exhibits. Staff are friendly and helpful. It does get hot in the afternoon so I recommend trying to go a little earlier in the day. I think it’s cool but not a must-visit location. I could have skipped it and just visited the temples instead.

Just nearby MRT station Sanam Chai , if you take MRT to visit Bangkok historical sites, it's definitely a good start from here , and then you could take tricycle-taxi to visit other temples or palace 👍😸

2023.9.24 afternoon. 🏛️Museum. ⛩️Nice architecture and a beautiful front yard where young locals were picnicking and enjoy the sun. Young vibe. Where you can learn about Siam origin, history, religion, intergrated cultures and so on. 🎧Audio tour with multiple languages is available for free; just deposit your passport or ID at the information. 🚊Public transportation is available; take the Exit 1 of Sanam Chai Metro station right below the Museum of Siam. I’ll recommend 1 hour to stay. ❄️Air conditioned.

A must-come destination in Thailand. It is easy to get there by MRT Sanam chai. The atmosphere here made me comfortable and relax. I spent over 2 hours there to repeat the audiobooks about Thailand. All the staffs are nice and helpful, the assist me a lot with beautiful voice. I would recommend to my friends when they travel to Bangkok.

Beautiful museum near the grand palace. I stumbled upon this walking away from the palace. It's worth visiting this museum to learn about 'Thai'ness. Enjoyed the exhibits! Very well curated and thought through in terms of content. Must visit.

This is okay! Not big place, you can spend there 1-1,5 hours 1 ticket = 100 baht, 5 steps to the metro station It has some interesting national exhibitions and something fresh from this century :) For me it wasn’t THAT interesting, but it’s good place especially for 100 baht

  • 5/5 Diah T. 6 months ago on Google
Entrance for public is 200baht, and for student 50baht (you only need to show your student card). And then i borrowed the headphone and recording for audio accompaniment when you walk through the 12 parts of the exhibition. You'll need at least 2 hrs or more to explore inside and outside part of the Museum (the backyard is beautiful!)

An awesome and interesting museum, which is also something for usually non museum visiting people and I can confirm the following from their website: "The Decoding Thainess, which features 14 exhibition zones that leads to exploring all aspects of Thainess and its constant evolution from the past to present. Encompassing historical, architectural, traditional, culinary and clothing perspectives among others, the exhibition is impressively presented by using advanced technology and unconventional storytelling method that suit today’s needs of people and their media consumption behaviors." An audio-guide in several languages can be used for free.

Not your standard stuffy museum. Lots of interactive tasks to undertake whilst you find out Thai history and the meaning of being Thai. I reckon even the kids would enjoy this museum.

"In the beginning, I harbored the notion that the museum would be rather dull, merely showcasing an antiquated representation of Thai identity. As it happened, my initial impressions were completely off the mark. The exhibition exceeded my expectations, seamlessly integrating technology in a way that resonated with individuals from the '90s, much like myself. While some aspects may challenge personal tastes and beliefs, it is essential to recognize that it presents a truthful narrative. I find solace in the fact that Thailand has, in its own small stride, triumphed over the shackles of obsolescence. This shift is indeed a cause for celebration, marking a positive evolution that I'm pleased to witness."
