Place de la Liberté

Historical landmark

👍👍 We were passing thru on our way to Bordeaux. This is in the old section of Poitier & we found it a charming area. As an American I stop at all the Statue of Liberties in France (there are 35 total).

La Statue de la Liberté in Poitiers is a replica statue of the Statue of Liberty in New York!

A bit small! But it's not the size that counts

It’s cute, but nothing special around, if takes 10 minutes to visit from downtown Poitier, so why not? Nearby, there are some old houses worth paying attention

One of the sight seeing places in poitiers at the heart of the medieval town center, becomes a bit common when you live there tough

A visiter !

👍👍 The Cordier tower, commonly called the “Porte de Paris”, is one of the remains of the 12th century enclosure desired by Eleanor of Aquitaine (note that it is classified as a historic monument). The intersection has recently been redone. Take advantage of a stop at the lights to admire it!

😐 Quite an unexpected find. I didn't think I would come across this in the heart of the city. The dolmen is not very well highlighted. Damage

👍👍 An exceptional monument for a journey through time of almost 1500 years. It is not often accessible, you must inquire at the Sainte-Croix museum to visit it. Heritage days and archeology days are good opportunities. The Sainte-Croix museum presents, in its archeology area, some interesting elements...
