I went here today to pick up some steaks. They are the only high end butcher I know of in the area. Got there at 10 right when they opened and the staff was cheery and welcoming. The gentleman behind the butcher counter was working and asked if I needed help. I told him I was looking for steaks. He was very helpful and told me they have more in the back that he hasn’t finished prepping but if it’s something I want then he would be glad to do it. I opted for 3 of their dry aged bone in NY strips. The butcher said they dry age them minimum 21 days. I liked that they were cut thick like they should be (about an inch thick). They were about $31 a pound and paying was easy. Took them home to grill. Everyone likes their steaks a different way and that is all fine. For purposes of the review I’ll say what I did. Let them sit at room temperature for about 1.5 hours. Heated my gas grill to as hot as it’ll go which is about 700 degrees. I put sea salt and black pepper on the steaks then did them for 4 minutes on the first side and about 2-3 on the second side. Took them off and put a little room temperature butter in them, tented it, and let them sleep for about 15 minutes. My house smelled like magic. It was hard to wait. Once I was finally able to eat them holy cow (pun intended, no bull). They were some of, if not the best, steaks I’ve ever made. I would say that they were better than any I’ve had at a restaurant too such as Ruth’s Chris’, Morton’s, or Double Eagle. They were on par with Peter Luger in Brooklyn. Highly recommend this place as a butcher shop!!!

Fun atmosphere, plenty of covered outdoor seating. Indoor seating area is nice, has a bar with seating too. Would choose outside seating next time. There is a tiny specialized meat market attached to the restaurant that I've heard has delicious high quality meats, but it closed right as we got there. The burrata salad was fabulous with incredibly freshly pulled burrata and just the right amount of grapefruit and blood orange citrus. I was excited about the mac and cheese, but was a bit disappointed. It was a little on the bland side, the grilled onions didn't add much flavor either. I wouldn't order that again. I would order the deviled eggs next time, they looked very popular and delicious on the tables around us. The grilled cornbread was a bit conflicting for me, it was more of a savory cornbread, with a sweet garlic molasses and butter. Those flavors just didn't flow with my taste buds, but I could see how others enjoy it. Last but not least, our steak was absolutely incredible. They know their meats. High quality, tender to the slice, and cooked perfectly, with enough accompaniment to add some different flavors, but not too much that it took away from the steak. We will definitely be back, to eat and to shop for steaks.

Such a great restaurant, esp for a special occasion! Perfectly cooked and seasoned steak, every time, and always paired with interesting flavors and textures. This is not your basic steakhouse. Excellent cocktails and wine selection. Great, helpful service. Highly recommend!

Outstanding experience. Lizzy was the best. Steak and king salmon were both cooked perfectly. The cornbread is insanely good. Wine selection was great. Atmosphere is cozy but open. Highly recommended.

This place is amazing. Great place to celebrate. The coffee rubbed steak is the best steak I ever had. Mac and cheese is amazing. Duck was also soooo good! Highly recommend. Probably the best restaurant I’ve been to in the country.

The absolute best steak place! Everything on the plate perfectly complimented the steak! The cornbread was so delicious. Their Ribeye was the best I’ve had in Portland. Forget Ruth Chris or Morton’s, this is the place to go.

This was $12.50. small sandwich with so little meat. Somewhere in there is supposedly avocado. Soggy. Took a long time to be served. Butcher shop was great. Lunch was highway robbery in painfully slow motion.

The journey to this establishment, spanning approximately 40 minutes from our residence, proved to be time well spent. Our advance reservations ensured prompt seating upon arrival, even amidst a bustling atmosphere, where the quality of service remained uncompromised. The rustic ambiance exuded a charming simplicity, echoed by a concise yet appealing menu. The culinary experience delighted with its impeccable balance of portion sizes and quality, a testament to the attention to detail exhibited by the kitchen. The libations on offer were equally impressive, and the commitment to culinary excellence was evident throughout our visit. Notably, the establishment maintained a commendable standard of cleanliness, embracing a farm-to-table ethos. It's worth noting that the only minor drawback was the limited parking availability, necessitating street parking, a feature less favored by some patrons. Nevertheless, I wholeheartedly endorse this establishment and would highly recommend it to discerning diners seeking a memorable experience.

Underwhelmed. Especially for the price. Good, but not great. A medium steak was medium-rare, rare. Very amateur mistake. Not what we expected for $70 steaks. The charcuterie board is good. The pickled vegetables were amazing. We could have eaten just a bowl of those! The wedge salad was also amazing, the pickled onions were a delicious surprise. The bone marrow is straight up delicious, but needs a soft bread or something to better enjoy IMHO. We ordered two ribeyes. One medium and one medium-rare. Both were on the light side of medium-rare. I like rare, but prefer the texture of medium-rare on ribeyes. My wife does not like anything lighter than medium, and I swear her medium had some touches so light they might have been blue. She was eating the crusty edges at first and didn't notice the undercooked bits until later. She is very disappointed with her steak. I liked mine, but I've had better, especially at that price point. We could have gotten prime steaks from Gartner's for 1/4th the price, and at least her steak would have been cooked medium... The flan was good, interesting take on flan.

I got the Hangar steak and my friend got the greens with the steak. We had the deviled eggs with the smoked trout roe for an appetizer and for dessert, we had the chocolate peanut butter mousse and the miso apple cake. Everything was PERFECT. I ordered my steak MR and it was so tender and delicious and again, perfectly cooked. Beautiful atmosphere and amazing service!

Fresh produce, tasty food. Only place I've found with ice tea without a strange twist to it. I'm from Oklahoma, so a nice ice tea is a must. Love the outside heated dining.

Mindful of my strict dietary needs. The steak was delicious and very fresh. My dish came with a mountain of lettuce but it was still yummy.

We chose this place to celebrate our anniversary. We were able to reserve seating and despite arriving a bit early for our reservation we were seated immediately. This is definitely a place to share your food, the portions are large. I like a classic steak, although mine had lots of different flavors and toppings it was still a good cut of meat. The cornbread was very hearty and I favored the rosemary lard while my husband favored the honey. Their macaroni was extremely delicious and they use my favorite pasta. On the pricier side but worth the visit.

Cozy date night here with exceptional food. Both of our steaks were tender and flavorful, Mac and cheese and beet salad were delicious. The warm corn bread they serve with beef tallow and honey was something I didn’t expect to fall in love with like I did, must try that! Overall wonderful experience and will be returning.

Everything about the dinner at laurelhurst market was exceptional. The service was amazing! Everything came out perfectly cooked and it was perfectly timed. We had the mushrooms and the cornbread for appetizers. My spouse had the new York while I opted for the wagyu flank steak. I would gladly have all of those dishes again. Please go here!

It had been a long time since I had visited and I was surprised to see a large, nice patio. They used to only have outside seating along the wall so we had asked for indoor seating for our reservation, but when we arrived, we found a nice patio and asked to be changed to that table. The butcher's steaks were fresh, the meat was tender and very tasty, so we really hadn't been here in 5 years after covid-19 settled down. We had the beef tartare, mac and cheese, grilled zucchini, and Brandt Ranch Ribeye. The servers were attentive and courteous, the patio had a high ceiling, and the atmosphere was very nice. Seating is so popular that the restaurant fills up quickly both inside and out, so reservations are recommended when visiting.

Had a lovely, intimate dinner in their patio seating. Rachel was our server and did an excellent job, was friendly, prompt and made helpful suggestions. The burrata and cornbread were to die for, but everything else was good. The patio had plastic siding, but most was open to let air in, which we appreciated. Would return.

The grilled cornbread with the truffle honey and green garlic butter was out of this world!!! I loved the Hanger steak it was cooked to perfection and had a wonderful taste but I wasn’t crazy about the sides that came with it! I will be back!

Lunch was not busy (July 3rd so maybe people are busy getting ready for their gatherings). It was perfect for my social anxiety! Beautiful, open outdoor lunch area and the food is served on a tray you pick up/bus yourself with no servers milling about (dogs are allowed in the outside seating area!). The fries were delightfully crispy on the outside, and pillowy soft inside! The rosemary is the most prominent herb tasted which I love! The garlic aioli is a perfect partner for them. The burger is very subtle and juicy! Great beefy, umami flavor and the bun was toasted! Their house pickles added a great acidity. The overall mouth texture left me wanting iceberg lettuce for that crispy crunch but the outstanding flavor almost made the textures not as relevant. The staff was sweet, helpful, and genuine.

Their hanger steak has amazing flavor and it was cooked perfectly! Don't miss out on the beef tartare and the none marrow.
