I haven't been to an Indian Buffet since way before the pandemic, so now that this buffet is open, here we go. First off, wow, the price sure has gone up! It's $15 for the lunch buffet now! I never paid that much, but I guess prices are up all over. The big Chinese buffet in town is $14, so I guess that's the price of buffets now. Parking is open but a little weird, but just park on the empty lot and cross the curb to the door. The place looks better on the inside than on the outside for sure. Plenty of open seating inside. I was surprised how small the buffet was, just one small line of steam tables, but I guess maybe there's not that much variety in Indian buffets. They did have what I came for though, and that's the Tandoori Chicken! Most of the other offerings besides the Tikka Masala and basmati rice, I'll pass on ... not the most appetizing looking stuff I've seen. But I'll tell you what, that was the best tasting Tandoori Chicken I ever had at a buffet! It was so tender your teeth just sank in and pulled away effortlessly. The flavor was right on as well. I did like that they included thighs and drumsticks. Not like some Indian buffets, serving just the weird back and boney pieces and saving the good pieces for the ala carte dinner menu. I got my fill of chicken so I guess the price was worth it. Nice hot naan was brought to my table too. Drinks included with this buffet, soda, mango lasse and hot Cha. The Tikka Masala was good flavored, but the white meat chicken in it was a little dry, but that's white meat for ya. Poured over rice, the Tikka was very good. I'll come back here sometime. But I can't help think, the big Chinese buffet for a buck less you get way more selection of food ..... but you can get Tandoori Chicken there!

It's said a picture is worth a thousand words. Having said that, the pictures attached to this posting do little justice to the actual experience of this meal. My apologies! I imagine the variety and authenticity of the samples offered on just the buffet selections alone, are similar to experiencing what the head chef and owner of Taste of India, Chef Amarjeet Singh, prepares in his own home for his family and friends. With each delectable and savory offering, the 15 years of experience in the world of culinary arts this Chef has under his belt comes shining through. The perfect balance of traditional aromatic spices and a genuine love for his craft is something to behold. As I've stated in other postings, when a dish or meal captures the attention of all ones senses, allow yourself to be fully immersed in the moment and appreciate such a rare gift. Taste of India 🇮🇳 does indeed invoke such an experience for the senses. If you are on the fence about trying traditional Indian cuisine or if you have tried other Indian restaurants and had anything but a pleasant experience (or if it was a great experience) you owe it to yourself to give Taste of India a try, in my humble opinion. On a side note... Hands down the best samosa I have ever tasted in my entire existence (and I have had quite a few in my lifetime from a number of places domestically and international).

Specially Not recommended for truckers. Ordered biriyani which tasted like chicken added to plain rice. Food quality was not good at all. Still cant understand the high rating of the restaurant. Can be due to earlier owner.

The service was terrible. The owner/the guy that serve and attend was so rude, he made us a write the order on the piece of paper ourself. He made us sit close to the entrance instead of the empty booths that would comfortably sit us. When we requested he said I have to walk far. There were items that were on menu that were not available. 😡😤 rediculous ! There are better restaurants out there, give them your business. The king of buffet only have buffet on weekends so I would only go during then, since this place is not worth your money and time and unless you are foreigner maybe they’ll treat you a little nicer .

Clean place serving mostly familiar northern Indian (Mughal cuisine and Punjabi dishes) food 🇮🇳. Friendly staff. Buffet with all of the "standard" buffet items.

Wonderful place! Never had Indian food before but this was great! Tried the Chicken Masala, the Naan was great as well, and the vegetable samosa. Everything was full of flavor! The owner was very gracious and friendly. Highly recommend!

Family-friendly Indian buffet with delicious dishes and timely service. Plenty of parking, a reasonable price, and a comfy arrangement of butcher block eating tables. The owner of the eatery is quite pleasant, checking in with customers to replenish beverages and tidy tables. Try their freshly baked, crispy, thin tandoori naan served with lamb curry or Tandori chicken. Vegan bombay potatoes, Spring Vegetable Bhajia (crispy vegetable Fritters with scallions, onion, bean, carrots, and sugar snap peas), samosa (fried pastry with a savoury filling, including ingredients such as spiced potatoes, onions, peas) are addictive and flavorful. Lamb curry contains delicate, soft flesh that is not overly perfumed and has a tangy tamarind taste. Tandori chicken has a somewhat spicy flavor and soft meat that has been marinated meticulously. Indian Masala Chai (spices milk tea) and Mango Lassi (sweet mango yogurt drink) are two more refreshing refreshments.

Great choices of Indian food for 14 dollars on Saturday, also tea and mango juice and bread, indeed was satiated with mouth watering dishes with kabob … definitely recommended

Never visit this place for food the owner have problem with indians..first of all he said i don't like south indians because they eat food with hands..I order chole bhature(having foul smell in bhatura that is bitter in taste)when i inform him he is getting rude that you say this for food when i confront him if having issue in food i will let you know...then he go inside to the chef and come back to know that he fried every thing in single oil whether its chicken or vegeterian food...if a person is complete vegetarian how he eat that food in which earlier non veg fried...then he gave excuses that everything comes from bay area that we are given to every body...then what is the need to open restaurant here...never come👎🏻👎🏻

We went for Buffet in Taste of India during our last Reno trip. Food is great and so is the service and ambience. Owner is very friendly. My 4 yo little daughter liked the food too and ate unusually large portion!! We would come back.

Ordered shrimp curry and vegetable jalfrezi, disappointed with jalfrezi. Shrimps were fine and the curry for both dishes were the same with exactly same taste and spices.

Foremost, the buffet is only open on weekends. From the outside, this forlorn building adjacent to a hotel gives the impression that they are not in business, at least that was my impression. Once inside, the Indian music and flavorful aromas are convincing that they're open. For a "King of Buffets" and with plenty of reviews suggesting their buffet, I was surprised to learn that it's only offered on Saturday and Sunday. So I had a "thali" (sampler) plate of chicken tikka masala, sag paneer (stewed spinach with cubes of some odd kind of cheese that more resemble tofu), brinjal (eggplant) curry, dal (lentils) curry, rice, a potato samosa, and naan (unleavened bread). Foremost, the samosa was perfect. Light and flakey with a savory potato and pea center. Served with the traditional samosa sauces of tamarind and mint. Also, the naan was very good. Everything was good, savory, and as expected. This is a nice find and would be a solid weekend lunch trip. If you're going during the week, they have an extensive menu which I've added below.

This is a difficult one to rate because the food is always great, but the restaurant doesn't have anything else going for it. Purely as a take out restaurant I'd give this a 5/5. Tried dining in once and the interior is about what you'd expect by looking at the outside. Unadorned, dim and a weird amount of unused space. Service was slow, and they forgot one of our drinks until even after multiple reminders. That being said the food experience has always been good. The veggie samosas are the best I've had and all the curry dishes are delicious. Just...stick to take out for this place.

Once you are in the door this place is wonderful. The service was quick and friendly, the food is excellent, and the interior of the restaurant is extremely clean and well decorated . The exterior of the building looks a bit worn, and the dumpsters near the front door was definitely a put-off. We are happy we stuck with our plan and had dinner here because I very much enjoyed the food and our conversation with the owner, a very nice guy

CAPTAIN( the owner) is amazing! Came here with my coworkers 3 times within 2 weeks for the all you can eat buffet. An amazing deal including Mango lassi and so many curries to choose from + it changes each week so you can try so many new things from the menu. Captain was so welcoming and such a character. Provided us free food to try, many stories about India, lots of advice about life and the feeling of being fed by loving grandparents. MUST TRY you will feel amazing and your stomach will thank you! Every time we came captain would eagerly talk to us about what we have been up to and sometimes even have us try food for free. This restaurant is very clearly a labor of love and joy!

After about 4 years, we finally visited Reno. Today we stopped by one of our all time favorite restaurants in Reno. Food quality is still the same at Taste of India. Its the same as 4 years ago. I was a little disappointed at first that they did not have lunch buffet but after I tried their Thali, I felt a lot better. Customer service was great. I had my favorite, goat curry. Its one of the best. Highly recommend this place.

The food was super tasty. I really enjoyed it. I didn't want to stop eating but I couldn't fit anymore in. I recommend this for a good buffet lunch.

I used to go here before the pandemic and it was one of my go to places for Indian food. I love how they offer the lunch buffet every day of the week, including weekends. I went back for the first time in years today and the service and food were still really good. My mom enjoyed it also. The prices have gone up (as have the prices for food in general), but it is still a very good price for a buffet. The choices are somewhat limited (about 12 dishes offered), but I felt it was more than adequate.

Great Indian Food, lots of vegan options and Naan made without milk and eggs. I was very impressed with their taste. Everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. As Indian and also vegan, I think it’s a great find. You have 3 to 4 vegan dishes over there. I am coming back again for more.

A group of us visited today for dinner for my birthday. I was amazed by both the quality and the value of the food. I thought we ordered too much food and was nervous by to see the bill. However, it was far less expensive by than I expected despite ordering several mains, a few orders of samosas, and naan bread. This may be higher during the lunch buffet. Many items on the menu can be made vegan if requested and the staff are knowledgeable. Even the naan can be made vegan. The staff were helpful and welcoming, the food was amazing, and the value was good! I highly recommend.

Excellent Indian Meal. Been to this lovely restaurant couple of times during my stay in Calefurnia . Super impressed with decor, ambience, food and attentive service. Seemed like a lovely owner run business, and it reflected in attention to detail towards smallest of the things, incl generous portion sizes and great presentation Would highly recommend to try it and use it as a benchmark for your dining experience (at least Indian cuisine), and you'll be coming back for more. Great going guys, all the best 👍

My wife and I and a couple of friends enjoyed dinner tonight. We live in Washoe Valley so it was quite a drive to come in but still worth it. This place is truly authentic and the staff is friendly and quick to get the food out. Everything we ordered tasted amazing with well balanced seasonings. The price has gone up a bit on the dinners but I'm sure the buffets for the weekend are a steal. For dessert, a warm chai is super tasty.

Dinner today was lamb curry and it was really good and I also had garlic naan bread delicious. They have these great dipping sauces that are flavorful. I had an appetizer called samosas it like a turn over but with vegetables also delicious. I had order a To go plate called biriyani its rice and spices all Mix up with any meats you want order mild unless you like it to spicy. That’s really good it like a fried rice with Indian spices.
